I know the feeling of tormenting yourself, and wondering just how insane you are because of it. I've done many playthroughs of games that are horrendously bad in comparison to the optimal set ups just for the sake of going with a theme.
I don't know HOW I did it, but I beat Chapter 3 of Final Fantasy Tactics with a party based on Cardfight!! Vanguard characters! Everything was chosen to match the characters, whether or not it was "good". I used generic characters when I could have used good ones, for example.
Picture this, fighting Wiegraf and his Lucavi form as an Aichi that focused more on magic and healing than actual fighting!
His only saving grace was that he had Holy, and darn it, Holy saved his behind!
I can't think of ANYONE that would make their Ramza a squishy Squire with robes equipped, and having wasted their time mastering White Mage, but I did it!
And then that stupid level with Rapha... Holy CRUD. I almost gave up on it then. I almost went against my themed playthrough to beat it.
I made it through, miraculously. I don't know how, but I made it without compromising the integrity of the playthrough.
...
...But yeah, I know how it feels to drive yourself insane with a game.
