I think that is more about real life pages in general. What I brought up is much more specific.
Optimism is a duty. Here's the thread: [1]. It's the third largest thread in this forum (after the Magnificent Bastard and Complete Monster threads).
I'm back!Um, should the commentary on Creator.Hikaru Midorikawa's role list be deleted? I'm really not sure what that's about. Especially since most of them seem to involve his characters getting captured/tied up/whipped while...naked? What the heck?
I found this on David Bowie. What the fuck is this?
- Bishōnen: Western performer, but oh, yes. If not a direct inspiration for many a bishōnen, he's often the example people cite as the most analogous example in Western media: throughout the 70's in particular, he was known for his waiflike body type, angular facial structure, and sharp eye shape, all of which would serve as key features of the bishōnen image in the decades ahead.
Bishōnen should not have RL examples.
Thomas fans needed! Come join me in the the show's cleanup thread!Hey, credit where credit is due there; that's the only Bishonen example I've ever seen with actual context.
Current Project: Incorruptible Pure PurenessAnd yet it had to be a real life example.
I wonder if I should bring Bishōnen to the RL maintenance thread for this.
Thomas fans needed! Come join me in the the show's cleanup thread!Unusually I think it's worth keeping due to said justifications, as while it's often used to gush, Bishōnen is also a particular kind of aesthetic. And quite a few characters made to look Bishōnen in Japan take fairly obvious inspiration off of Bowie, which would make him a kind of originator.

Why are you trying to justify keeping gossip on the page?
Thomas fans needed! Come join me in the the show's cleanup thread! How is that gossip? Also, you seem unusually upset about this.

Yep most fabulously theirs yoshikage Kira of Jo Jos Bizarre Adventure Diamond Is Unbreakable fame whose design was based on Bowie's.
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."We're not upset, Alley, but the thing is that we have decided that we don't trope real life people on the site because that often leads to conflicts, and people are more complex than troping them would suggest.
You are certainly allowed to find David Bowie pretty. That is not the point. But a trope like Bishonen should only be used for fictional characters, because it is a deliberate effect an author goes for with a character.
If you think Bowie is an inspiration for Bishonen, and you can find some evidence for that (such as creators directly stating he was their inspiration), you could add that to the description of Bishonen, or perhaps its real life section as long as you make clear he is an inspiration for the trope, not just an example.
Optimism is a duty. Not you Redmess, I just don't understand how my pointing out that it's got some objective context behind it that makes it more than the usual drooling merits Plasmapower snapping at me. A response like "Oh, so you're saying we should be OK with gossip?!" comes off as wildly excessive. On that note Plasmapower, you do sometimes come off as not only frustrated but downright angry with misuse and anyone who you perceive (sometimes mistakenly) as defending it. It's not that big of a deal.
I'm genuinely confused why you think me pointing out that the entry contains tropable information somehow means I'm attracted to Bowie? I'm basing it off the vast number of comments I've read from both casual fans and journalists commenting on the widespread understanding that Bowie is an inspiration for many anime/game characters regarded as Bishōnen. Many Japanese creators are open fans of Bowie and there's no doubt his aesthetic influenced their works, although I don't know if I can find direct quotes where they state as much as opposed to it being implicit.
That's fair, but I think if it comes up enough times then it's probably worth keeping on the page of the inspiring creator themselves. Albeit I could see this being moved from a Bishonen entry in the "Tropes about Creator" section to a brief blurb in the main body. Usually I favor salvaging and repurposing useful information over immediate cutting, and as others have pointed out, there is some kind of descriptive value within this entry.
I'm sorry, I guess I just misread the situation.
And I agree that it is salvageable.
Optimism is a duty. The YMMV page for Labyrinth contains conflicting accounts of David Bowie's sex scandal. How was this resolved, and what should we keep on the page?
(See Harsher in Hindsight and No Jay on the page).

Optimism is a duty.As discussed here, Low Tier God was full of real life troping. I cut much of the example section. Unsure about some of the remaining ones, namely Rage Breaking Point, Rage Quit (which is a ZCE anyway), and Insistent Terminology.
Found an ATT which comments that Creator.Gackt is a duplicate of Music.Gackt. There are also the usual problems with troping Real Life.
I'm back!I was sent here by the Overshadowed by Controversy cleanup thread to propose asking for advice. A few users there have expressed desires to remove all currently-active politicians from the trope's RL page due to Rule of Cautious Editing Judgment concerns. Wondering if anyone agrees with that.

I'd be okay with a waiting period that active politicians shouldn't be eligible because every politician will be involved in controversial current events and the best way to tell if they're truly overshadowed by it is to wait until six months after their political career has ended.
I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.EDIT: Taking it to Websites cleanup instead

TRS Queue | Works That Require Cleanup of Complaining | Troper Wall
This post was thumped by the Shillelagh of Whackingness
Creator.Doug Walker has a lot of tropes, and I'd bet a lot of them could be cut down just knowing the tendencies of certain tropers to get weirdly personal and speculative towards the guy, but I'd like to start with this line from his description:
"The main star of his site, he has so many characters you'd think he had Multiple Personality Disorder."
Is this offensive? If nothing else it's an outdated term for the disorder.

I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe. It's kinda ridiculous more than anything else. Someone having many characters doesn't mean he has multiple personality disorder. It's called acting.
Optimism is a duty.Yeah, I removed that line and I also cut a few tropes like Extreme Doormat that were troping the person.
I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe. So apparently, Rush Limbaugh's article has Awesome, Funny, and YMMV subpages. I think it's safe to doubt that such content is worth keeping, especially for such a controversial, politically polarizing individual.
