This is the sticky thread for questions related to the namespacing of works. As in, "which is the right namespace for this work?"
Ideally, questions already answered are covered on the Namespace Map. If you know a namespacing issue has already been resolved, but it is not yet documented on the Map, please update the Map.
If you want to suggest a new namespace, don't post here, but in Suggesting New Namespaces
instead.
For easier reference, I've numbered my questions:
- #1: Where do animated films go? They seem to be distributed rather inconsistenly over Film/ (Puss In Boots, Whats Opera Doc), WesternAnimation/ (Disneys Anne Frank, Snow White), Anime/ (Princess Mononoke) and Disney/ (Snow White And The Seven Dwarfs, Der Fuehrers Face).
- #2: There are a few songs which have their own pages ("Pirate Jenny"). Where do they go – to Music/ or to Literature/ ?
- #3: Where do composers go – to Music/ , or are they to be treated like other creators, which hitherto stay on Main/ ?
- #4: Where do Talk Shows, Game Shows and News Broadcasts go? I guess you could call these formats Live-Action TV but they're not really "TV series", as in Series/.
- #5: Am I right in assuming that Puppet Shows go to Series/ ?
- #6: What about “hybrid shows”, i.e. segment shows that incorporate both live action and animation? (e.g. Die Sendung Mit Der Maus)
- #7: Where to put picture books? I am thinking of books like Der Struwwelpeter and Max and Moritz — books that are really not complete without their illustrations. They are not (yet) ComicBook/s, but to sort them under Literature/ feels a little unsatisfactory too.
- #8: The rule is to put works into the namespace of their original medium. However, once in a while there is a work which is little known in its original medium, and almost exclusively known by its adaptation. I’m thinking of Das Boot, for example: there's a novel, but it is almost exclusively known by the Petersen movie.
- #9: Should One Book Authors who are invariably tied to a single work be treated as a creator or a work page rather?— Currently, we have Samuel Pepys and Herodotus, but shouldn't these pages be at Literature/The Diary of Samuel Pepys and Literature/The Histories rather?
- #10: There are cases where I’m unsure whether to use the English or the original title. Is there are hard rule that determines whether Der Ring Des Nibelungen goes to Theatre/Der Ring des Nibelungen or Theatre/The Ring of the Nibelung? Even Wikipedia uses the original title.
I'd be grateful for input.

It's been a few weeks, so reposting my question from the previous page:
New pages, Love 365 and Lovestruck, for apps containing multiple Visual Novels. They've been created under Creator/ but is that the appropriate namespace, or would Visual Novel/ or Video Game/ be better? Choices: Stories You Play is the same type of app, so the question concerns it as well.
Wasn't sure if this was the right place to put it, but with the announcement of it's anime adaptaion and official English license by Viz Media; Jo Jos Bizarre Adventure Vento Aureo now has the official name of Jo Jo's Bizarre Adventure: Golden Wind.
With it now have it's official English name, should the page be changed to reflect that?
VideoGame.Matches And Matrimony seems like a Visual Novel, given that it's in that index.

Because the column itself (printed in more than one newspaper) publishes pictures, games, and fictional stories. More specifically, this column was the first publication of an Isaac Asimov story.

Vector/Creator/Medium/Whatever, I'm asking how to give proper attribution to content owners. They paid for the work just like any Pulp Magazine or Anthology Comic.

The company that owns the column could be in the Creator/ namespace, though I'm not sure about the column itself.

The column isn't the creator; the author of the content is the creator. If the content is a written work, it would be considered Literature, and so on.

YouTube isn't a fictional work or a creator of fictional works, so why does it get a page? Legitimately asking here.

By our general standards, YouTube would be better served as a Useful Notes article, since it describes something that is very commonly referenced, but does not itself contain any tropes. If you want to work on transplanting it, be my guest, but you'll have to move all the wicks.

Amazing Stories does not contain any trope examples; it merely lists works published in that magazine. It's stretching things a bit as far as tropeworthiness is concerned, but it doesn't break any of the rules you cited.
Pulp Magazine and Anthology Comic should be indexes, not tropes.

So, I assume this is also the place to ask regarding what name to use for a work, particularily in cases where it might be unclear what to use?
What I'm wondering about is Taiko Drum Master/Taiko No Tatsujin. The series is currently listed as "Taiko Drum Master", with Taiko No Tatsujin as a redirect, going by the name used for the PS2 release long ago, which until recently was the only Western release. However, the two newest games in the series, for Switch and PS4, have now been officially announced for a Western release under the "Taiko no Tatsujin" title. Given that the only game called "Taiko Drum Master" was one game from 2004 and the newest games in the series are now getting a Western release under the original name, should we change the main name to "Taiko no Tatsujin" since it's what's used for the most recent Western English-language localization, or would it still stay as "Taiko Drum Master" just because this is a translated title, even if this isn't what is currently used?

I'm not aware of any such rule regarding namespaces, but we do adopt a general principle of "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."

I recently found that the pages for every Fairy Tail Spin-Off manga have been listed incorrectly as "Recap" pages for as long as four years. Seeing that they're all individual series and not episodes/story arcs of a single piece of media, I'm more than certain they should be listed as "Manga" instead, like any other spin-off to its corresponding media.
I created new pages under the proper namespace yesterday from the old pages, which I added to the Cut List, but I failed to realize in my haste that most of them had gained a sizeable amount of inbound links over the years, with one having well over 500, which I've come to understand would make cutting them unlikely. I also tried creating redirects, but the old format doesn't seem to be working now with the updated site, and in hindsight, I don't think that would've been the appropriate action anyway.
Whatever the case, I've since removed all the potential redlinks I could find on the site that this would create. Here's a list of all the pages I'm trying to relocate:
