This thread is for general discussion of page quotes, whether to change, move or remove them.
Unused quotes should be put on a Quotes Wiki page (just replace the namespace in the URL of the wiki page you are making a quotes page for with Quotes/) or, if they don't have an article, on Quotes Looking for an Article.
Image captions are discussed elsewhere and have their own thread in the Image Pickin' forum.

Any more thoughts on me replacing the quote on Shoo Out the New Guy?
Also, I found Extreme Omnisexual, which has a sinkhole in its quote.
Contains 20% less fat than the leading value brand!@Tabs, is that for me, or for post 5,649?
Sorry about the page topper. I was thumbing up the spinach puffs line. As for Emissary from the Divine, I don't get the trope from the Dresden Files quote itself. I prefer the first line ("Go, proclaim liberty...") for the caption, but maybe that's a matter for the caption thread.
Stink Snub says it's NRLEP (not indexed as such, though), yet the quote is a real-life example. So, what gives?
she/her | TRS needs your help! | Contributor of Trope ReportIs the quote on "Pop!" Goes the Human from somewhere, or just something someone thought up?
Jawbreakers on sale for 99ยขSeems like it. The page history shows it's been altered several times, but doesn't seem to go back far enough to see who originally added it.
(Annoyed grunt)just want to make sure my quote on Drums of War is good. i really like it, but im open to suggestions if someone has something better.
Migrated to Chloe Jessica! The current quote in Zombie Advocate sounds like it's depicting something opposite to this trope, and it doesn't even warrant a spot in the Quotes subpage. There's only 1 alternative quote in the subpage, which is miles better than the current page quote. Permission to move and cut the subpage?
Drums of War is good with me.
As for Zombie Advocate...yeah, cutting sounds like the best move.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessDoes Hero Tropes need the parody lyrics?
Jawbreakers on sale for 99ยขThat seems to be an attempt to sneak around the "one page quote" limit, so I say snip it.
Trouble Cube continues to be a general-purpose forum for those who desire such a thing. The quote for Quake IV has bits spoiler tagged.
The quote from Dr. Mario, while... interesting, is long and not even from any of the games itself. It's also on the quotes page.

Jawbreakers on sale for 99ยขYeah, I'm thinking pull.
she/her | TRS needs your help! | Contributor of Trope ReportThe quote in Expansion Pack Past doesn't quite fit the trope. Nothing in the dialogue suggest that a character has an overly detailed backstory—without really knowing the full context, it only seems like the first guy getting some details of the other guy's backstory wrong.
I think this quote from the subpage works much better:
Edited by Adept on Aug 15th 2019 at 12:08:28 AM
That does seem better. Also, it made me chuckle, which is a bonus.
Just launched High-Five Left Hanging, this quote was added:
- Thas cold, Obiwan.Charles Barkley, Clerks: The Animated Series
Which I think doesn't work on its own if you're unfamiliar with the source material. Suggestions?
It works, but the pothole can't go with it. You all know the rules.
Who are you replying to? If you're replying to me, that's not a pothole, that's a quote attribution. If you're replying to Adept, linking to works that are directly mentioned is fine. (Wolverine is an alias of Logan, so it counts as a direct mention.)
Meant Adept. Fine.
I spotted this one the other day, but I've been hesitating over raising this because I can see from the History page that it went through this thread in May, which isn't that long ago. However, the Names to Run Away from Really Fast has a page quote that, without greater context, looks like a comedy situation, so I decided to mention it anyway.
The trope description carries the following warning people should consider when deciding if an example fits the trope:
Also, please provide context as to why the character lives up to their scary name. Just listing the character's name with no explanation is a Zero-Context Example, something we don't want.note
I don't know the work, so the page quote doesn't tell me how Foulfellow's name lives up to the trope, especially considering the warning about standards. Since I have no idea what Pleasure Island is in this work, I don't know if we're talking about an ordinary brothel someone has a moral objection to or whether it's a pit of sexual deviancy that no sane person would ever willingly visit. As a result, the quote basically telling me 'This guy's name is a clue to why he likes Pleasure Island, so ignore his request'. A 'yeah, ignore him, don't go' quote doesn't really sell the trope to me and makes it come across as a comedy moment.
Looking at the Quotes page, I can see there are a lot of quotes, but that most of them don't appear to be good quality. So, I can see why this quote was chosen over the other options. I can suggest something that's not listed on the quotes page. It's about the same person, but from two different episodes, so I'll quote both:
Angel: What are you fleeing from?
Demonic Entity: The bringer of torment... agony... death... The Destroyer.
Cordelia: Oh, that is just not the name you want to hear!
Gunn: You sure about that? Offspring of two vampires? Last time I checked, that's not supposed to happen! And jumping off a six-storey without busting your coconut kind of sways me to the side of not 'just a boy'. I mean, come on, Fred. His nickname back in Quor-toth was 'the Destroyer'! And, unless you put 'Conan' in front of that, I'm guessing it's not a good sign!

If my post doesn't mention a giant flying sperm whale with oversized teeth and lionfish fins for flippers, it just isn't worth reading. The first one is more focused on the name aspect, so I prefer that one.
Ontological Inertia has an unsourced page quote. There are two similar alternatives in the subpage that works equally well. I personally prefer the second, if only because it's shorter. Thoughts?
According to... ourselves, it was said by Fritz Leiber. I'm sure some troper paraphrased the Law of the Conservation of Reality, and it was then taken word-for-word and misattributed to Leiber. I've removed it.
