"The Philosofan" is a 'Video Review Show' show on Geekvision and the Channel Awesome forums dealing with the anthropological side of fandom, & geek culture, & fangirls. Lots of fangirls. It is created and hosted by TBelle, AKA Haley Baker, AKA Trickster-Belle.
In addition to her Philosofan videos, she has also begun a new series entitled "Art Theory at Disneyland", analyzing Disneyland from an artistic standpoint.
Her videos can be seen here.
Tropes:
- Berserk Button: Calling TBelle a Fangirl
- Came Back Wrong: TBelle left to do research on Creepypasta. When she came back...things got weird.
- The Cast Show Off: Several times, there have been musical credits where Haley shows off her singing voice. & once co-producer Jess showed off her ukelele skills.
- Driven to Madness: Watchmen & Crime and Punishment seem to have this effect on TBelle
- The Fair Folk: TBelle tends to like stories involving them, as seen in her Top 11 Anime & her Labyrinth thesis.
- Fangirl: TBelle, albeit reluctantly. Not to mention her whole video explaining the concept.
- Guilty Pleasure: The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen for TBelle
- I'm Not Afraid of You: How she dealt with that pesky victim complex, in the same style as the movie she was talking about.
- Improbable Weapon: The umbrella
- Lipstick-and-Load Montage: Primping up to get ready for a review is serious business.
- Occidental Otaku: TBelle's introduction to anime. It was an awkward experience.
- Old Shame: Her high school web show.
- Shared Universe: Thanks to cameos, she's part of the Reviewaverse.
- Southern Belle: And proud of it.
- Talking To Herself: Arguing with her 'high school victim complex' in the Labyrinth thesis.
- World of Weirdness: The Reviewaverse. She confronted Ichabod Crane, Hans, and Gaston. This universe is weird enough for fictional characters to exist.
