Team Teen: Origins is a webcomic that is inspired by the web animation, Team Teen Cartoon Heroes Unite. It can be found here and here.
This webcomic contains the following tropes:
- Actor Allusion: Zak Saturday tells his mom that Shego sounds a lot like her, a reference to the fact that both characters were voiced by Nicole Sullivan in their respective shows.
- Adaptation Expansion: This comic gives Team Teen more members than just the core five (now four) in the web series, such as Rex Salazar, the Xiaolin Dragons, and even the Teen Titans.
- Adapted Out: Jake Long is not present in this comic whereas in the web shorts, he was a founding member of the Team.
- Alternate Continuity: The comic is set in a different universe from the web series and follows a different plot.
- Always Someone Better: Ben is a bit upset that Kim is way more popular than him.
- Behemoth Battle: Both the Symbiotic Titan and Waybig worked together to fight off the Mutraddi monsters.
- Get Out!: General Modula makes it very clear to Vilgax that he is not welcome on Galaluna.Modula: Get off my planet, Vilgax. NOW.
- Hope Spot: The Galalunan Resistance takes advantage of Vilgax's invasion to free their King while Modula is distracted. They come so close to succeeding, but they're quickly caught by Vilgax's forces as a token of trust to Modula, and the King is recaptured.
- After Illana explains her sitiuation to Ben and Kim, they go to Plumber HQ with them in hopes of gaining allies to take back Galaluna. Sadly, the Magistrate refuses her pleas, not only because the Mutraddi have made no attempt to directly attack the Plumbers, but Galaluna has time and again refused any help from the Plumbers due to their strict isolationist policies. Needless to say, Illana is heartbroken.
- I Want You to Meet an Old Friend of Mine:
- Nora Wakeman and Grandpa Max knew each other in their youth, with Nora having almost become a Plumber with him before Sky Way Patrol approached her first.
- "Friend" would be a bit of stretch, but Vlad reveals to the other villains that he's acquainted with Slade.
- The Knights Who Say "Squee!":
- At first, Danny and Jenny are ecstatic to see Ben 10 when they go to Plumber HQ, but they're even more excited to meet Kim Possible. Ben is also a fan of Kim, but that doesn't stop him from being jealous of her popularity.
- Later, Jenny and Ron are literally starstruck when they meet the Teen Titans.
- In a villainous example, Jack Spicer fanboys over meeting Slade, even though the latter couldn't care less.
- Outside-Context Problem: Once Jack Fenton finally realizes that Zs'Skar (a.k.a. Ghostfreak) and his cohorts are aliens and not ghosts, sending them to the Ghost Zone is no longer an option. Luckily, Nora Wakeman happens to be an old friend of Grandpa Max and suggests taking them to the Plumbers.
- Shout-Out: Vilgax lists the Irken Empire, the Decepticons, and the Diamond Authority among the more recent groups of alien villains trying to conquer Earth.
- Villain Decay: A Discussed example between Vilgax and Modula. Vilgax states that people are hardly taking Modula seriously anymore because his attempts to kill Princess Illana with his Mutraddi monsters keep failing.
- Villain Team-Up: We have two being formed in this comic and both end up coming together later in the story:
- First, we have an alliance of (mostly) Galactic Conquerors consisting of Vilgax, Malware, Vlad Plasmius, Vexus and the remnants of her Cluster, and a very begrudging General Modula.
- Second, on Earth, we have Van Kleiss and his Pack, Jack Spicer with Wuya, and Slade.
