Rooftops & Roommates is a Fantastic Comedy Webcomic by Zaanart published as a Webtoon Original.

Jeb, a gargoyle, is a architecture major at a human university. Follow him as he not-so-successfully attempts to cover up his secret identity from the humans.

Rooftops & Roommates provides examples of:

  • Alien Among Us: Jeb, a gargoyle, must fool the human students into thinking that he is just a foreign exchange student. He is not the only one at his university though.
  • Amicable Exes: Shandi and Alex are ex-girlfriends and are good terms with each other. She even helps Alex fight Omicoven.
  • Animesque: The art style is very reminiscent of anime and manga.

  • Braving the Blizzard: Jeb does this while drunk and Alex has to bring him inside.
  • Curtains Match the Windows: Jeb has black irises and black hair.
  • Double Entendre: Alex accidentally makes it sound like Jeb was flashing people in episode 20.
Alex: So why did you do it anyway? Expose yourself?
Jeb: Please don't say it like that.
  • Do Wrong, Right: After the Dean learns of Alex and co's attempts at vengeance against Omicoven, who had been harassing Alex with curses, she helps them cast a spell which reverses any curse that they cast onto Alex onto them.
  • Masquerade: Jeb must hide his true gargoyle nature from the human students. It is later revealed that all supernaturals must do this, though it is easier for witches and the like because they are human and don't need to use magic to mask their true forms. The supernatural realm is where must magical creatures come from which they try to keep a secret from humans.
  • Muggle Best Friend: Todd is Jeb's.

  • Glamour Failure: Jeb's true form is revealed when Callias, a harpy is near. Jeb later tries to use a rune to force Alex to reveal her true form. As she is a witch, the rune backfires and reveals his true form.
  • Oh, Crap!: Jeb gets one of these in episode 18, when he realizes that he just exposed himself to Alex.
    Oh, shi-
  • Idiot Hero: Played for laughs. Jeb manages to nearly unmask the Masquerade a ridiculous amount of times, if it wasn't for his brothers; Alex; and Todd cleaning up after him.
    • He doesn't consider the possibility that Alex might be human, and accidentally reveals his true form to her. Luckily for him, she's a witch, so she already knew.
    • He warms up Alex's pizza with his green fire in public.
Alex: Honestly, it's amazing you've lasted this long without an actual human noticing you.
  • Psycho Pink: Jane, a member of Omicoven, has hot pink hair and is an asshole. She and Owen blackmail Alex by cursing her for Victoria's amulet.
  • Robe and Wizard Hat: Downplayed. Though it seems to be common attire amongst magic-users, they seem to wear normal human attire much more often.
  • Rose-Haired Sweetie: Lottie, Shani's girlfriend, tries her hardest to help Alex with her rivalry with Omicoven for nothing in return.
  • Scary Shiny Glasses: Shani does this occasionally, though most prominently in episode 162.
  • Sensor Character: Supernatural creatures can detect other supernaturals.
  • Shadowed Face, Glowing Eyes: Jeb has pitch black skin and glowing green sclarae.
  • Technicolor Fire: Gargoyle fire is emerald green.
