Pre-Release Theories
Micro Demon will have a major role in this game.
The game's Big Bad is Satan, and Micro Demon is the only established demon character outside of Satan in the Anton games so far. So it would be a missed opportunity if Micro Demon wasn't in ANTONBLAST. Possible roles for him include:- Being an Exposition Fairy who tells you tutorials, his backstory would be that he's a Token Heroic Demon who doesn't agree with Satan's plans. He could also be revealed to be Satan's rebellious son in a similar vein to Alucard.
- Being Satan's Dragon or Overlord Jr. and the penultimate boss.
- Being revealed in a shocking plot twist to actually be Satan as a child, which could possibly be explained by demons aging faster than humans.
- A Recurring Boss or miniboss who works for Satan.
- Having a similar role to Mr. Stick in Pizza Tower or Captain Syrup in Wario Land: Shake It! in that he forces you to pay chips in order to unlock the next world.
- The main threat in the 3 bonus worlds.
- A combination of any of the above.
A few playable characters from Antonball Deluxe will appear as bosses.
It would be a shame if they would only appear in Antonball Deluxe, and then never appear again. So why not feature them as boss fights? Possible choices include:- Danton and/or Nina
- Ant on Ball
- Paul
- Fixed Gold Evil Baby Paul
- Micro Demon (If the above theory is true)
- Antari
- Don and Cooper (In a Dual Boss fight)
- Classic Anton and/or Classic Annie. Can be explained by them being Legacy Characters or alternate universe counterparts.
- Nothing
- Mini-Mitt and/or Bebo the Ballbuster (Serving as King Mooks instead of Token Heroic Enemies).
- Possibly, as one of the moles shown on the blimp in Boiler City has the exact same color pallet as Bebo, meaning it could possibly be a redesign of him.
- Jossed, the mole on the blimp is a seperate character named Tallbuster as shown in the October third livestream.
- Old Manton
Danton and/or Nina aren't playable characters, but rather shopkeepers.
Four playable characters seems like too much for a game with this much emphasis on large sprites and fluid animation, but they've been confirmed to appear in this game. The solution? Have them run an item or upgrade shop instead.- Jossed for the first part. The kickstarter shows that they are meant as playable characters in a possible DLC campaign. Of course, that doesn't mean they can't be shopkeepers in the base game.
- Alternatively, the shop could be run by Brulo.
Brulo’s elevator is also a time machine.
The Boiler City is set in an Urban Hellscape, but half of Cinnamon Springs is set in a Wutai village. This could be explained by Brulo’s elevator being a time machine. It helps that it seems to go through some sort of wormhole at the results screen of each level. Brulo sold off Anton’s booze to Satan, and after getting denied payment helps Anton get revenge
Anton already was the kind of guy to leave his tab open and run, as well as making fun of his divorce, so when Satan comes knocking, asking if he could steal Anton’s booze for him, of course he said yes. Then after he actually gives the booze to Satan, Satan predictably reneges on the deal, sending the Ballbusters to rough up his bar. Cue Anton’s Roaring Rampage of Revenge, and Brulo wisely claims that stealing the booze was all his idea, getting his revenge through Anton as well. Before the Final Boss fight against Satan, the Bossbusters will fuse into a giant Ballbuster serving as the penultimate boss.
And the boss will be named Allbuster.- Alternatively, Allbuster would be a giant mech piloted by the Bossbusters..
Anton and Annie would form a truce with Danton and Nina to stop Satan.
Danton and Nina would have their own reasons to go after Satan, which would result in them butting heads with Anton and Annie frequently. Eventually, the two sides would put their grudges aside to pound Satan to next week. Old Manton is a Tengu.
Why else would Old Manton have a giant schnoz that Anton doesn't have? And how would an old man perform acrobatic feats his age? That's right. Really small wings concealed behind his clothing. With Cinnamon springs being a Wutai world it would be an easy pick to have Old Manton return and flesh out this aspect a lot more.
