Trivia / Dead or Alive 6

Go To

  • Content Leak: The second KOF Guest Fighter is Kula Diamond. The game developers may have named her SNK to avoid data mining, but they forgot to hide her attack moves. Kula's reveal trailer in June 2019 doesn't come off as a surprise, given many people have already predicted it was her even if she wasn't leaked.
  • Dueling Games: With Soulcalibur VI, both being 3D fighters and the first mainline entry in each other's series since 2012. The difference being DOA6 is choosing to drastically tone down its sex appeal, while SCVI is embracing it. DOA6 lost overall, falling short of SCVI in sales, reception and recognition both within the Fighting Game Community and outside of it.
  • Franchise Killer: The "core values" incident, the DLC hair color debacle and again the overpriced season pass, and finally Yohei Shimbori leaving Team Ninja and the content updates stopping in 2020, the combination of all these controversies are likely the reason that Dead or Alive 6 has so far been last one of the franchise.
  • Flip-Flop of God:
    • Yohei Shimbori has gone back and forth on whether or not Dead or Alive 6 would be Tamer and Chaster, in one interview supporting it and the other not, almost regularly. In the end, the base costumes are tamer... but everything else isn't, and the Jiggle Physics options are still very much there. Any toning down amounted to little, as DOA would still get the usual M-rating for the fanservice and, rather infamously, the "Core Values" fiasco where their tournament stream at EVO Japan 2019 was closed due to the sexual nature of it.
    • They also mentioned that they had no intentions of including any of the Xtreme-exclusive women into the core series. Come March 10, 2020, Tamaki has been officially released as a playable character.
  • The Original Darrin: Ayane went from Brittney Lee Harvey to her voice actress from the Ninja Gaiden series, Janice Kawaye.
  • The Other Darrin: In the English dub, there are a few casting changes obviously for union-reasons:
  • Posthumous Credit: Unshō Ishizuka managed to finish his lines for Brad Wong before passing away on August 13, 2018 at the age of 67 due to esophageal cancer.
  • Promoted Fanboy:
    • Similar to what Capcom has done for Street Fighter V, Team NINJA hired a tournament player, Emmanuel "Master" Rodriguez to be the community manager in time for the announcement of Dead Or Alive 6.
    • Being a former competitive fighting game player and fan of the genre, Faye Mata being able to voice a fighting game characternote  was a wish that has finally been granted.
  • Sequel Gap: The previous game, Dead or Alive 5, was released back in 2012 with this game releasing in 2019. A gap of 7 years. Again.
