Trivia / Cardfight!! Vanguard overDress

Go To

  • Actor Allusion: overDress isn't the first card game anime where Yuki Nakashima voices a character who plays/played a deck featuring a card named "Trickstar" who then replaces it with a new deck at a later point.
  • All-Star Cast:
  • Blooper: During Masanori and Zakusa's brief rematch in Season 1, he seems to Alchemagic two copies of Grief, Despair, and Rejection together... which isn't possible with the original Zorga since it specifies that the orders being used for Alchemagic have to have different names. This is somewhat addressed in will+Dress Season 2 with Zorga Masques, which can use orders with the same name, something Masanori directly identifies as something only Masques can do.
  • Celebrity Voice Actor: The English dub notably has popular YouTuber and Twitch streamer LilyPichu as Megumi Okura.
    • On the Japanese side, we have Daisuke Sakuma of the Japanese boy band group Snow Man voicing Michiru Hazama in will+Dress.
  • Crossdressing Voices: Shinobu Kajita is voiced by Mariko Higashichi.
    • Averted in the English dub, where Shinobu is voiced by Paige Knickle, a non-binary actor.
  • Cross-Regional Voice Acting: The English dub features Vancouver-based actor James Higuchi and Los Angeles-based actress Lily Ki note  as main characters in a cast that is otherwise completely comprised of Calgary-based actors. will+Dress continues this trend by featuring Japan-based actress Karin Kagami reprising her role as Urara Haneyama in the dub.
  • Multiple Languages, Same Voice Actor: Just like her role as Maho Akashi in D4DJ, Karin Kagami voices Urara Haneyama in both the original Japanese version and the English dub.
  • Otaku O'Clock: While the series aired its first season in the same early Sunday morning timeslot that the previous series was airing in, when it came time to air season two, the series was moved to a late-night timeslot. This continued for the first season of its sequel series, will+Dress, but as of season two, the show has moved back to its early Sunday morning timeslot.
  • Playing Against Type: Shuuta Morishima and his English counterpart, Scott Roberts previously voiced Shinemon Nitta, a Nice Guy and one of the most heroic goofball characters in the original, G, and V-Series. This time, both of them provide the voice of Masanori Iseki, one of the antagonist characters in the show. As a result, many fans consider Masanori to be an evil version of Shin, because they both share the same VA in the original and English dub.
  • Recast as a Regular:
  • Schedule Slip: The English dub suffered from this, likely due to complications related to the COVID-19 Pandemic. Prior to overDress, previous series had, at most, a one month delay between the original Japanese and the English dub. Starting with overDress, the English dub is now released a full three months after the original Japanese broadcast.
