When Lone Moose is now allowed to compete in the Little Mr. Ketchikan Canned Sausage Gentleman pageant after their 30 year ban is over, Ham and Moon compete in it but they start to get too competitive when Beef and Brian starts coaching them. Meanwhile, wanting to participate in the pageant in some way, Wolf is chosen to become the emcee of the pageant and is having some difficulty working on his emcee routine.

Tropes:

  • Bait-and-Switch Comment: During the opening ceremony of the pageant, Wolf introduces himself as the host and starts roasting people in the audience and the town of Lone Moose... with positive comments.
Wolf: Tonight is dedicated to taste. And you know who's got no taste? Londra.
    Londra: Hey! Wait.
Wolf: 'Cause she lost her sense of taste in a chili pepper accident. And she has our empathy and respect.
    Londra: Aw. Thank you, Wolf.
    Wolf: Uh, ya think?
Honeybee: Whoo! There is it, babe.
Wolf: Tonight, we'll see our town's boys compete for a year's supply of sausage. And you know who else is always giving it away? Alyson.
    Alyson: What the...
Wolf: And by "it" I mean attention... to those in need, by teaching free art classes at the Old Moose Senior Home.
    (everybody cheers for Alyson)
Alyson: It's true. I also have sеx with a lot of people.
Santiago: What a roller coaster ride of feelings you're creating, Wolf.
Wolf: Thank you, Santiago. And you know why the Moose in our town is Lone? Because this town absolutely blows...
    (everybody gasps)
Wolf: ...other towns out of the water. Thank you very much. Tip your waiters.
  • Couch Gag:
  • Dark Horse Victory: Thanks to Ham and Moon's failed stunt, they both end up losing their chance to win and the winner of the pageant is Drama John.
  • Embarrassing Middle Name: Ham's middle name is revealed to be Piercebrosnan and Moon reveals Kathleen had some wine during Ham's birth when she came up with that name.
  • Freeze-Frame Bonus: The yeti can be spotted behind Wolf picking up a tennis racket and walking offscreen when Wolf fails to roast Junkyard Kyle.
  • One of the Kids: Wolf plans to enter the pageant despite being much too old to be a contestant. He argues his case to Mayor Peppers, but he makes Wolf the emcee instead.
  • Persona Non Grata: During the pageant 30 years ago, Beef competed and was favored to win. During the second to last event, a jealous contestant sabotaged Beef during the blind sausage taste test by putting fast-acting laxatives in his tasting sausage and he ends up soiling himself, but despite that, he still continues to compete and won the pageant and was set to travel to Ketchikan. Unfortunately, when the sausage company officials heard about the laxative incident, the company forbid Beef from moving forward to the competition and banned Lone Moose from competing for 30 years because they found the Lone Moose's conduct upsetting, gross, and against the spirit of sausage. But it's later revealed the "jealous" contestant was Brian and he was actually framed by Beef for the laxative because Brian had the edge in winning so Beef wanted him to get disqualified to ensure his victory.
  • Pop-Cultural Osmosis Failure: After Drama John wins the pageant:
Drama John: I'm a hero. I feel like I just saved Private Ryan, whoever she is.
  • Pop-Culture Pun Episode Title: The title is a reference to Boy Meets World.
  • Pyrrhic Victory: When Beef and Brian competed in the pageant 30 years ago, Beef downed a bottle of laxative, giving himself Potty Failure and framing Brian for it to kick him out of the pageant, allowing Beef to win. Unfortunately, when the pageant organizers heard about the laxative incident, they banned Beef from moving forward to the state competition. Furthermore, all of Lone Moose ended up banned from participating in the pageant for thirty years for allowing Beef to continue in the pageant even after he pooped himself.
  • The Roast: Wolf plans to make his introduction to the pageant into a roast for all the townspeople, but his attempts at zingers aren't very insulting. He compromises and starts his jokes as insults, then veers them into compliments.
Wolf: This town blows! [Audience gasps] ...all the other towns out of the water!
  • Shout-Out: When Mayor Peppers tells the town he has a big announcement to make, Delmar thinks they're finally going to do The Purge, but Peppers tells him they're not doing that.
  • Strange Minds Think Alike: At lunch during school, Drama John tells Moon and his friends if they're considering doing Gretchen Wieners' monologue and song from Mean Girls the musical for the pageant, he suggests shifting gears. Russell reveals he was going to do that and decides to do his plan B for the pageant.
  • Wrong Genre Savvy: After Ham and Moon apologize to each other for being too competitive, they want to show the town of Lone Moose that the competition will never tear the brothers apart. They do it by sharing the same sausage costume and giving a speech about how everyone is connected. They both assume everyone will love their message of togetherness but no one is impressed by it, Wolf points out it's against the rules to have two people share the same costume during the pageant, Mayor Peppers tells them they don't need any more shenanigans happening during the pageant again because Lone Moose just got unbanned from competing, and even Beef and Brian, who spent the whole time fighting about the pageant, don't even care about their speech. This ends up costing them the pageant and Drama John is declared the winner.

♫ My name is Gretchen, Gretchen Wieners
I used to be so nice, but then you guessed it
I got meaners
I'm a meany weenie girl
Oh, baby, I'm a meany weenie girl
But only because I don't feel like a seen-y girl
My papa was so busy
He never got to know me or my goldendoodle
But I guess that's the price you pay
For being the inventor of the Toaster Strudel
My mama Colleen, she was also mean
But then again, her own papa
Was pretty pretty busy inventing polypropylene
It's a cycle, it's a cycle
It's a cycle, it's a cycle, it's a cycle. ♫

Wrong Sausage Message

After Ham and Moon apologize to each other for being too competitive, they want to show the town of Lone Moose that the competition will never tear the brothers apart. They do it by sharing the same sausage costume and giving a speech about how everyone is connected. They both assume everyone will love their message of togetherness but no one is impressed by it and they both lose the pageant.

How well does it match the trope?
