Tropes

  • Alliance of Alternates: Harry and Cisco form another Council of alternates of Harrison Wells.
  • Ambiguous Situation: Was Wells 2.0. expelled from the Council of Wells by Harrison Wolfgang Wells?
  • Arson, Murder, and Jaywalking: Team Flash sans Caitlin argues against seeking out Amunet on the grounds that she's a criminal, a kidnapper, and the one who ruined Iris' bachelorette party.
  • Book Ends: Barry and Iris discuss her exposé against DeVoe in the beginning and in the end. They even dress the same for those points.
  • Broken Masquerade: Iris decides to finally invokes this by writing an article detailing everything about DeVoe and his plan for the Enlightenment; having come to the conclusion that the only reason he's been ahead of them and is close to succeeding is that no-one knows about him. Within hours of the article being posted at the end of the episode, she gets numerous responses on DeVoe sightings and people wanting to help.
  • The Bus Came Back: Herr Wells and H. Lothario Wells return to the scene. Amunet also returns when Barry and Caitlin ask for her help. Norvok also returns from his somewhat long absence.
  • Deal with the Devil: Caitlin agrees to do a job for Amunet in exchange for helping her get Killer Frost back. Though since the splicer is revealed as being a Placebo, it's not clear whether the debt will be collected or not.
  • Don't Think, Feel: The Council of Harrisons' advice to Harry to help regain his intelligence and defeat DeVoe.
  • Eating the Eye Candy: Amunet gushes a bit over Barry's looks after making him take off his mask.
  • Enemy Mine: Team Flash allies with Amunet Black to take down the Thinker.
  • "Eureka!" Moment:
    • Amunet figures out where Norvok is after talking to Caitlin about placebos.
    • Harry is able to realize why the Thinker hasn't launched his satellites yet: he won't do it without Marlize at his side.
  • Even Evil Has Loved Ones: Harry figures out that the reason DeVoe hasn't started the Enlightenment yet is because he is worried for his wife, who left him.
  • Eye Scream: After Norvok is defeated, Amunet cuts out his eye snake.
  • Foregone Conclusion: It is obvious the alliance with Amunet will fail to defeat the Thinker.
  • Jerkass Ball: The Council of Wells, won't help Harry because he's no longer smart — more specifically Herr Wells. Turns out he kicked out every other Wells, with the possible exception of Wells 2.0..
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business: Cisco is quite baffled when Harry actually gives him a sincere sounding apology, without any sarcasm whatsoever, after the meeting with the Council of Harrisons.
  • Placebo Effect: The splicer Amunet helped Caitlin with in the past to control Killer Frost is revealed to be just this.
  • Pop-Culture Pun Episode Title: The title is an alteration of that of Harry and the Hendersons.
  • Pragmatic Villainy: Amunet at least claims that the only reason she is helping the team is because of self-preservation.
  • The Reveal: Caitlin's powers weren't cured by Amunet's splicer; she lied.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: Amunet leaves after the fight with Norvok, since she believes DeVoe to be too dangerous. After some convincing, she leaves Team Flash behind a piece of her metal collection to use as a weapon.
  • Shirtless Scene: Barry is seen in his underwear while sleeping, at the beginning and at the ending.
  • Shout-Out:
  • Spotting the Thread: Amunet immediately recognizes Barry under the mask.
  • The Starscream: In Amunet's absence, Norvok took over her organisation and even made precautions against her, should she return.
  • Superior Successor: What Cisco aims for with the "Council of Harrisons".
  • Throw the Dog a Bone: For once the Flash is able to have a victory against DeVoe with no strings attached; they have the weapon to take down his satellite, they know his weakness, and now the whole darn city is mobilized against the Thinker.
  • Took a Level in Badass: Last time we saw Norvok, he got beaten by girls with no powers. Now, his powers have apparently evolved and he can spew venom from his eye tentacle, powerful enough to put the Flash in danger. Plus, he also developed a weapon to counter Amunet.
  • What the Hell, Hero?:
    • Cisco scolds Harrison Wolfgang Wells for betraying Earth-2 Wells just because he lost his intelligence.
    • Barry balks at Caitlin's suggestion to recruit Amunet.
  • Workout Fanservice: The women training boxing are wearing midriff baring shirts during their workout.
  • Why Did It Have to Be Snakes?: Cisco quotes this word for word, though he says 'Eye snakes', in reference to Norvok.
  • You Are Better Than You Think You Are: As opposed to last time, Amunet actually gives Caitlin a genuine rousing speech this time.
