Say 'Awww!'

Original air date: 5/20/2022 (produced in 2021)

Frustrated at being seen as cute instead of evil, Plankton creates a cute robot that eats whoever says "awww!", only for the robot to eat him and get loose in Bikini Bottom.

"Say 'Awww!'" contains examples of:

  • Bait-and-Switch: When it seems like, even with adding SpongeBob to the top, the Bikini Bottomites can’t reach the uvula, the camera focuses on Sandy at the bottom as her arms tense. This implies that she’ll add more of her strength to the ladder. Then it’s revealed that it’s Plankton lifting them all up.
  • Black-Hole Belly: Q.T.-Pi has a "Quantum stomach", meaning that even after devouring everyone in town into a cavernous mechanical gut it can still appear as a tiny duckling on the outside.
  • Blind Alley: SpongeBob ducks into an alley to avoid Q.T.-Pi. He makes an Aside Comment to the audience to tell him he'll be safe there, first. Q.T.-Pi finds him anyways.
  • Continuity Cavalcade: The Human Ladder contains over 100 characters from across the series' history, including ones that had only been in one scene. For instance, there's the octopus hot dog vendor, who only appeared 22 years ago in "Walking Small", and Sardina Sardiña from "Potato Puff", which aired just one month before this episode.
  • Delayed Reaction: SpongeBob doesn't react when Q.T.-Pi; eats the veterinarian right in front of him. He even says "Awww!" before realizing he should be saying "Ahhh!"
  • Hoist by His Own Petard: Plankton is the first to be eaten by Q.T.-Pi after saying "awww" to Karen's request to take out the trash.
  • Human Ladder: Everyone trapped inside Q.T.-Pi; tries to escape by forming a pyramid the uvula emergency exit. It fails at first due to there not being enough people, but by the time Q.T.-Pi eats SpongeBob, there's enough people for it to work. Amazingly, it takes Plankton lifting the bottom for them to reach the exit.
  • Humongous Mecha: Q.T.-Pi; can transform from a cute duckling to a giant heron.
  • Idea Bulb: Plankton's eye turns into a lightbulb, followed by the rest of his body when he gets the idea for the robot.
  • Idiot Ball: Plankton has no excuse for not having Q.T.-Pi eat SpongeBob when he said "awww" to it.
  • Not So Above It All: Even Squidward can't resist fawning over Q.T.-Pi.
  • Punny Name: Q.T.-π, as in Cutie-Pie.
  • Shadow Discretion Shot: Happens when Q.T.-Pi; eats the veterinarian.
  • Title Drop: Plankton says the title while describing his plan.
  • Wingding Eyes: The veterinarian's eyes shape themselves like Q.T.-Pi's transformation as she watches.
  • You Must Be This Tall to Ride: After Q.T.-Pi; is turned into a ride for Glove World, Plankton is dismayed when he is turned away for being too short to ride despite being the one who built the robot.

Patrick the Mailman

Original air date: 5/20/2022 (produced in 2021)

After crushing the mailman, Patrick decides to deliver the mail all over Bikini Bottom with help from SpongeBob.

"Patrick the Mailman" contains examples of:

  • The Bus Came Back: This is the third appearance of Kevin C. Cucumber, though this is his biggest role since "I'm Your Biggest Fanatic".
  • Chimney Entry: Patrick gets into Kevin's house like this, even dressing as Santa.
  • The Determinator: Patrick stops at nothing to deliver Kevin his jury duty summons.
  • Half the Man He Used to Be: When the mail slot spits the letter back out, it slices SpongeBob's torso in half.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: SpongeBob and Patrick's actions throughout the episode get them delivered by Norton to jail in a large envelope.
  • Limited Animation: SpongeBob clapping is very choppy, consisting of just two frames alternating at a slow rate.
  • New Job Episode: The episode centers on Patrick becoming a mailman after Norton gets injured (thanks to Patrick).
  • "Shaggy Dog" Story: After Kevin finally accepts the jury duty summons, he points out that the summons is actually for Bubble Bass, who is hiding behind Kevin's door.
  • Truth in Television: In Real Life, tampering with the mail, especially so much as impersonating a mail carrier, is a federal offense, and this, plus, grand theft auto for stealing the mail truck, is what lands SpongeBob and Patrick in prison at the end of the episode.
  • The Unsmile: Squidward sports one while he excitedly opens his package.
  • Wingding Eyes: Old Man Walker's eyes turn into a countdown before bursting into tears.
  • Your Head Asplode: After SpongeBob and Patrick give Old Man Walker all the mail, the latter's head explodes into confetti.
