Usagi: Naru, why do you look so worried?
Chibi-Usa: It's because that handsome guy is hitting on you, isn't it? Don't fall for it! He's just using you as bait to capture Pegasus!
Usagi: Everyone knows you use carrots to lure a horse! How dare he treat you like a carrot! I am Sailor Moon! And In the Name of the Moon ...
Both: We'll punish you!

(CWi Episode: "Baiting The Trap")

The Amazon Trio try to improve their Pegasus hunting mission using a devious contraption that can capture the beast. And to enact it, Tiger's Eye sets his sight on Naru as his key pawn which drives a wedge between her and her boyfriend Umino.

Tropes in this episode include:

  • All for Nothing: The Amazon’s scheme to capture Pegasus falls apart when the cage proves woefully inept at capturing him.
  • Almost Kiss: Tiger's Eye tries to kiss Naru only for her to push him aside confirming that she's already spoken for.
  • Big "SHUT UP!": Tiger's Eye says this to Hawk's Eye after the latter ribs on him for losing his charm.
  • Call-Back: Luna warns Usagi and Chibi-usa about "the same creepy blonde guy who attacked Reika".
  • Did You Actually Believe...?: Tiger's Eye taunts Naru for believing that he actually fell in love with her.
  • Drowning My Sorrows: PG example. Chibi-usa is grossed out to see Umino alleviate his pain with more than 15 milkshakes.
  • Dub Name Change: Otemamako is named "Juggling Jackal" in the Cloverway dub.
  • Early-Bird Cameo: Otemamako appears in the shadows entertaining the inhabitants of the circus.
  • Everyone Has Standards: Usagi is grossed out to hear that Umino managed to chug 15 milkshakes in one night.
  • Florence Nightingale Effect: Exploited. Realizing Naru has an interest in nursing, Tiger's Eye passes himself as a sick man with little time and in need of a "nurse" to care for him.
  • Freeze-Frame Bonus: A billboard that appears behind Naru and Umino reads SMSS aka Sailor Moon SuperS.
  • Gut Feeling: Ami tells the girls that she has a bad feeling after hearing about the strange man's bogus sob story.
  • I Need a Freaking Drink: Tiger's Eye guzzles down his fuzzy navel due to the pressure of Hawk's Eye's promise to their boss.
  • I Want My Beloved to Be Happy: As much as it pains him to see his beloved Naru tend to another man as his girlfriend, Umino allows her to go with him while citing her kind heart as one of her positive qualities.
  • Juggling Dangerously: The Juggling Lemures, Otedamako, is able to juggle a variety of dangerous weapons to attack. From exploding balls to knives and torches.
  • Lured into a Trap: Hawk's Eye comes up with the idea of using a specialized cage that can trap Pegasus once he appears to help the Sailor Guardians. The cage can manifest negative energy that can confine Pegasus in spite of his ethereal form.
  • No-Sell: Pegasus is able to fly through the electric cage without being harmed or restrained like Tiger's Eye intended.
  • Running Away to Cry: Umino has to run away to cry his heart out after Naru explains her dilemma.
  • "The Scream" Parody: Umino closes off the episode with his Scream impression after Naru presents him with another milkshake.
  • Shout-Out: In the Cloverway dub, Otedamako's last words before shattering are T-t-t-t-t-that's all folks!
  • Spit Take: Hawk's Eye and Fish Eye do this after they hear how Tiger's Eye was brushed aside for a nerd.
  • Surprisingly Realistic Outcome: Umino drinks 15 milkshakes at once, but instead of a Balloon Belly like most big eaters, he simply gets bedridden with a stomachache.
  • Tempting Fate: Tiger's Eye thinks to himself that things are going swimmingly as he first approaches Naru. But then Umino shows up and he's horrified to see his target ignore him in favor of the nerd.
  • This Cannot Be!: Tiger's Eye is aghast to find that Naru would consider Umino more interesting and attractive than him.
  • Tranquil Fury: Tiger's Eye barely restrains himself after Naru casually mentions that she forgot their first meeting.
  • Villain Opening Scene: Zirconia starts the episode yelling at the Amazon Trio for their inability to capture Pegasus or locate his hiding spot. Hawk's Eye tries to save the situation by saying that they were just going easy on him and have a better idea on how to deal with him.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Downplayed. The Inner girls question Naru's decision of becoming Tiger's Eye's girlfriend despite the questionable circumstances. They even bring up that she already has a boyfriend who wouldn't take her decision very well.
  • Your Days Are Numbered: As part of his second con, Tiger's Eye passes himself as a doomed man who only has three months left to live in order to lure Naru to her doom.
