"Chibi-Usa has a boyfriend? As her guardian, I have to do something! I'll be her cupid and set her up! "Hit it off! Hit it off!" Hey you there! The one interfering with their love! In the Name of the Moon, I'll punish you!”
Usagi Tsukino

(CWi Episode: "Art Appreciation")

Chibi-Usa sets her sight on a sculpting prodigy in her art class as her next crus-I mean, potential friend. Usagi takes notice as well and sets out to help her express her romantic feelings. But both face a certain obstacle in the form of a visiting painter that the young boy has become smitten with.

Tropes in this episode include:

  • Blunt "Yes": When Haruka asks if Michiru received her roses from an admirer:
    Michiru: Why? Are you jealous?
    Haruka: A little.
    Michiru: Then yes.
  • Book Ends: The last scene has Chibi-usa bringing up her stolen apple pie which Usagi and her friends consumed at the start of the episode.
  • Containment Field: Using only a coat hanger, the Daimon succeeds in trapping Sailors Moon and Chibi-Moon in a barrier with pressurized wind.
  • Contrived Coincidence: The subject for Chibi-Usa's sculpting project is the Holy Grail which happens to be one of the season's macguffins.
  • Dissonant Serenity: After hearing Eudial make her crashing entrance in the sculpting room, Michiru chipperly laments that her hopes for a peaceful afternoon have disappeared.
  • Dub-Induced Plotline Change: In the Cloverway dub, the flowers in Michelle’s office came from her ex-boyfriend Mike, who she notes she isn’t planning to get back together with, even if she likes the flowers.
  • Fireball Eyeballs: Chibs gets these as she swears that she won't lose to the likes of Michiru.
  • Girl Bites Witch: To keep Masanori's Pure Heart from being stolen by Eudial, Chibi-Usa gives a huge chomp on the trashy tart's arm to keep it safe.
  • Green-Eyed Monster: Played light-heartedly. Haruka notices the roses Masanori gave her girlfriend and proudly declares that no one is allowed to look at Michiru like that but her.
  • Hypocrite:
    • The rest of the Inners regarding Chibi-Usa's pie, especially Mars, who eat the rest of the pie while Usagi is out cold. Which Mars was responsible for as "punishment" for taking Chibi-Usa's pie, which was at worst, a dunder-headed mistake. They also try to get her to make up for it without taking their part of the blame.
    • Chibi-Usa gets mad at Usagi for eating her pie unknowingly, ignoring that she has done the same to Usagi in other episodes knowingly.
  • Ignorant of Their Own Ignorance: After crashing straight into the art school with her van, Eudial asks everyone around her to remain calm via speakerphone. Later, she accuses Chibi-Usa of giving her so much trouble while having no idea of the mayhem she caused moments ago.
  • Jerkass Ball:
    • The Inner Guardians hold this big time. They not only refuse to share the blame with Usagi over what happened but laugh when Chibi-Usa keeps giving Usagi a hard time at the end.
    • Chibi-Usa, while never exactly a saint, is much more of a jerk than usual. While getting mad at Usagi is understandable, she refuses to go easy on her even when she actually makes up for what happened.
  • Lethal Chef: Usagi's friends and the cats express concern over the possibility of the bun-head having baked a suspiciously decent pie for them.
  • Logical Weakness: Since Chokokka's golems are made of sand, they instantly dissolve when they're exposed to water. The same applies to the Daimon herself after Neptune uses Deep Submerge on her.
  • Love Triangle: Chibi-Usa is in love with Masanori who's in love with Michiru who's a teenage lesbian in a committed relationship.
  • Mad Artist: The Artistique Daimon Chokokka resembles a living painting and can create mud sculpture minions to do her bidding.
  • Mass "Oh, Crap!": The Inner Girls are stunned to realize that the apple pie Usagi gifted them belonged to Chibi-Usa who gave no permission to any of them to eat her delicacy.
  • Mook Maker: Chokokka can create giant golems using playground sand and pieces of her hair to make them come to life.
  • Must Make Amends: Invoked in the end. As Chibi-Usa is still bitter about her stolen pie, the Inner Girls agree to make Usagi atone for her crime.
  • Never My Fault: The scouts trying to make Usagi own up to what she did, even though they finished the rest of the pie. Usagi is even quick to point that out when they pull this on her, but to no avail.
  • Not So Above It All: Elegant gadfly and award-winning artist Sailor Neptune jokes about Chokokka's golems as art pieces, asking if she could make them a bit easier to understand.
  • Precocious Crush: Masanori, a little boy, has a romantic crush on the teenage Michiru.
  • Stating the Simple Solution: After Luna warns the Chibiusa not to transform out of fear of exposing her secret identity, Chibiusa decides not to transform as she rushes out to save the Pure Heart.
  • Tempting Fate: After cornering Chokokka in a playground, Uranus comments on how beating her was fairly easy. The Artistique Daimon would then use her golem creations to attack the Outer Guardians.
  • This Cannot Be!: Chibiusa has this reaction upon learning that Masanori likes older women.
  • Troll: Michiru is in all her trolling glory in this episode, first when she finds out she's Chibi-usa's "rival," and again when Haruka sees she got roses from one of her students.
Haruka: I'm not jealous, Michiru. I just can't allow anyone else to look at you as I do.
    Michiru: Haruka, that's called "jealousy."
  • True Art Is Angsty: In-universe, Chokokka invokes this with her statute minions.
  • Villains Out Shopping: After accidentally calling a Chinese restaurant instead of his subordinate, Professor Tomoe decides to make an order.
  • You Owe Me: Chibi-Usa makes it clear that Usagi owes her big time for stealing her pie and feeding it to the others.
