Concerned New Directions doesn't have the killer instinct to win at Regionals, Finn assigns the club to let loose their inner divas. Tina's infatuation with Blaine reaches a tipping point and she comes to a realization. Santana’s return creates trouble for Sam and Brittany. Santana also tries to decide what to do with her future. Emma is in a time of chaos because of preparations for the upcoming wedding. With Will away, Finn and Emma help each other out. In New York, Kurt can not take Rachel's arrogant attitude, so he challenges her to a sing-off for bragging rights at NYADA.

Next Time: The last of the series' Valentine's Day Episodes, featuring an alleged wedding, a case of Pair the Spares by Quinntana... and a Tear Jerker subplot rich in harsher hindsight.

Songs:

  • Diva (Karmatronic Club Remix) by Beyoncé, performed by Brittany and Blaine with New Directions girls.
  • Don't Stop Me Now (Darren Criss version) by Queen, performed by Blaine (duh) with New Directions.
  • Nutbush City Limits by Ike and Tina Turner, performed by Santana with the Cardinals (U. Louisville) Cheerleaders.
  • Make No Mistake (She's Mine) - Kenny Rogers and Ronnie Milsap version, performed by Santana and Sam.
  • Bring Him Home from Les Misérables, performed by Kurt and Rachel.
  • Dancing On My Own by Robyn, performed by Brittany.
  • Hung Up by Madonna, performed by Tina.
  • Girl On Fire by Alicia Keys, performed by Santana.

Tropes:

  • Actor Allusion: Blaine's "diva" looks like a cross between Freddie Mercury/Adam Lambert and Hedwig of Hedwig and the Angry Inch - his actor famously performed "Don't Stop Me Now" (almost as much so as "Teenage Dream") and would later play Hedwig on Broadway, being one of three Glee stars to hop on the stage during the filming of the final season.
  • Always Female: Blaine questions In-Universe why only the girls can be divas, then joins them and proves that he's quite the diva himself.
  • Celebrity Paradox: Blaine is wearing one of Adam Lambert's Queen tour jackets - Adam Lambert joins the cast next season.
  • Foreshadowing: There is a mention of a revival of Funny Girl; this will become a major plot element next season.
  • Fag Hag: Tina to Blaine.
  • Incompatible Orientation: Tina and Blaine, so she says that they can have a sexless romance.
  • Magical Asian: Implied with the "cold-busting" kit that Tina gives Blaine.
  • Oblivious to Love: Blaine.
  • The Bus Came Back: Santana returns full time.
  • Virgin in a White Dress: Finn's statement, with some mean implications that he's not smart enough to recognize.
