NOTICE: This is a Recap page, so all spoilers will be left unmarked, per wiki policy. Read ahead only with caution! You Have Been Warned.

Defending the weak and helpless from the agents of evil requires a hero who is at the peak of human condition in the name of justice and vengance. Like returning combatant, Batman, the Dark Knight, and Captain America, the Sentinel of Liberty. Today, we compare these two superhuman fighters to see which one is deadlier. Let's analyze their weapons, armor, and skills to find out who would win a Death Battle!

Batman: Among the criminal underworld of Gotham City, there is only one name to strike fear into the hearts of even the toughest and cold-hearted men: The Batman. The Batman's story is one told time and time again. At 8 years old, Bruce Wayne's parents were gunned down by a mugger on their way back home from the movie theatre, watching Zorro. Bruce vowed that he would clean up the criminal mess of Gotham by taking advantage of the fear of criminals. At 41, Bruce stands at 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighs 210 pounds. As the CEO of Wayne Industries, Bruce Wayne's Net Worth is an astounding $6.9 Billion. Bruce has perfected every martial art known to man, which he learned from traveling the world. In addition, Mr. Wayne has kissed 60 women and has had 23 girlfriends. Bruce's physical prowess and genius intellect were essential as he traveled around the world, working to become The Dark Knight. He is a master of disguise, as well as effective in sword fighting, detective work and stealth. He has a photographic memory, 12 masters degrees, is an expert marksman (despite having a huge dislike for firearms) and has a vast knowledge of pressure points.

Batman is not superhuman, but he has been trained to appear so in the eyes of others. He was trained by the League of Assassins to utilize his opponents' fear against them. Criminals are afraid of his mere shadow, let alone the Batman himself. Batman is able to disappear and reappear thanks to the many objects in his handy, trademark utility belt and other gadgets. He has his Batclaw Grappling Hook, Smoke Pellets to disappear with ease, a Disruptor, a Forensic Analysis Kit, handy First Aid Kit, and a Cryptographic Sequencer. As if that wasn't enough, Batman also has Shock Gloves that have an electric charge powerful enough to penetrate Kevlar (AKA Bulletproofing), and were powerful enough to stop the heart of Bane, one of Batman's most powerful foes. Of course, since Batman doesn't normally kill, he used the gloves to revive Bane as well. And of course, when you just got your life saved by someone who stopped your heart, the best reward is to drop them over your knee and break their back. While the Utility Belt is helpful, it doesn't contain everything, and it certainly doesn't contain "Shark Repellent" like many people assume it did in the 1960's Batman movie. The Shark Repellent was actually in the helicopter Robin was flying. What he does have, however, is Explosive Gel, which can be sprayed on nearly any surface in a cluster (shaped like a bat of course) and can be detonated remotely.

Bruce's choice of the bat as his guise comes from his own fear of the creatures so he could project it onto his enemies. The Batsuit itself is incredibly helpful. The batsuit has Nomex and is a repurposed survival suit to stop almost all bullets, knives, electricity, and fire among other things. The cape functions as a glider, the cowl lessens damage done to the head, the gauntlets are armed with blades, and it is able to conceal both his heart rate and his heat signature. The cowl has tools to help listen to police scanners, communicate with allies, and has night, infrared, and ultraviolet vision. Also, it has a triangulation system which can somehow hack into every cell phone in the world to create a 3D Map.

Batman has accomplished quite the number of feats in his years. He has avoided the super-villain Darkseid's Omega Beams, which are supposed to be unavoidable, survived out in the vacuum of space for 24 seconds, Can Bench Press 1,000 pounds, Leg Press 2,500 pounds, can throw a batarang at 100 miles per hour, swapped a poisoned drink with a real one in the blink of an eye, broke into both Area 51 and Area 52, and was able to escape from a coffin, which was buried 6 feet underground, while in a straightjacket, after being deprived of sleep for days, and all this while he had a cocktail of unknown drugs in his system and under the effects of Joker's most recent toxin, and the author of this piece would like to remind the readers that no, Batman is not a superhuman, and does not have super powers...as far as we know. Despite this, he's still a normal man underneath the suit and accomplishments, so he can still be affected by things like knives and bullets. His self-confidence often causes him to get caught in a situation he can't get out of without help. However, The Dark Knight has survived many different fatal situations and escaped from them while continuing to fight evil in the name of justice and revenge.

Batman: From this moment on, none of you are safe.

Captain America: Steve Rogers was born to poor Irish immigrants on July 4th, 1920 in Manhattan. Rogers was only about 5 feet 4 inches tall and weighed less than 100 pounds soaking wet. Both of his parents died early in his life and, due to the Great Depression, caused him to grow up with very little money. As a teenager, he won a gold medal once in an art contest, and he is secretly a habitual car thief (and was once mutated into the Spider-King, later on in his life). He had no friends growing up, and was very weak. However, he had an incredible amount of willpower, was selfless, and had a strong sense of justice. While those he knew had joined the military to serve in World War II, Rogers wanted to serve his country, but had very little physique and had a lot of health problems. As such, he was turned away from every military organization at the time. While this was going on, Hitler had created a group of super soldiers and made an elite military force known as Hydra. Desperate to stop this deadly force, the US created Project Rebirth, which was very experimental. The first subject of this experiment was Rogers. After being injected with a Super Soldier Serum and blasted with Vita Rays, Rogers grew to be 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighed 220 pounds. The project was a success and Rogers became Captain America, a Nazi Annihilator. The serum pushed Steve to the pinnacle of physical and mental human potential.

Thanks to the serum, Rogers can bench press 1100 pounds and run a mile in 73 seconds. By comparison, the world record for bench pressing without a bench shirt is 722 pounds, and the fastest mile run is at 3 minutes and 43 seconds, meaning that Steve must be nearly twice as strong and 3 times as fast as the most physically fit humans in the world. Captain America is adept in nearly every form of hand-to-hand combat on the planet and is a master tactician. He is multi-lingual, has proficiency in all weapons, is an expert acrobat, can proficiently drive any type of vehicle, is capable of chi manipulation, and can resist almost all forms of mind control. His brain is also able to process information faster than a normal human, or as Cap likes to say, he's able to "see faster". This helped him dodge a bullet at point blank range. Despite all of this, the military thought that Captain America should be relegated to being the poster boy for the military, with a costume that looks like it was ripped from a low-budget USO show. Later on, his outfit was updated to have Kevlar, Nomex, and lightweight Titanium, which is resistant to Fire, Water, and Electric Shocks.

However, the most well known aspect of Cap is his Shield, which is 2.5 inches in diameter and weighs 12 pounds. It is composed of Proto-Adamantium (AKA a stronger version of the stuff Wolverine's claws are made of) and a mysterious space element known as Vibranium. The shield absorbs the full blow of any impact it has, and does not conduct electricity or heat. The shield is very aerodynamic, allowing Cap to throw it in the air and have it bounce off things and people so that it can come back to his hand. This shield was given to him personally by Franklin Delano Roosevelt, the 32nd President of the United States and the president at the time World War II began. The shield is powerful enough to deflect bullets and lasers, can decapitate a vampire, and is even able to take a blow from Thor's hammer Mjolnir. It's so powerful and awesome, even Superman wants it. While the shield has been damaged, and even destroyed, this was only through cosmic, or reality-warping powers.

Among Cap's feats, he has survived being frozen for 70 years, he can run at 50 miles per hour, caught a torpedo with his hands, threw The Hulk off of his feet (thanks to a kick below the belt), can jump 20-30 feet in the air, and can drop from a plane at cruising altitude into water without a parachute with no problem. He was able to box Thor to a standstill, was deemed worthy enough to wield Mjolnir, a hammer which is only supposed to be wielded by Thor, and defeated the personifications of street drugs known as Ice, Weed, Crack, and Miss Fix...despite the fact that drugs are the reason he's the way he is in the first place. Not only is Cap a hypocrite, but he also still has the same durability as a normal human, and his suit can only go so far to protect him from stabbing weapons, and a sniper bullet was still able to take him out in one shot. But not many superheroes can say they were able to punch Hitler in the face.

Gabe Jones: Who are you supposed to be?
Captain America: (out of breath) I'm...Captain America.

So, now that our combatants are set, let's see which of these peak humans is deadliest. IT'S TIME FOR A DEATH BATTLE!

We open up on an alleyway, that is very dimly lit. Captain America drops down to the street level, looking down the alley. We see a pair of white glowing eyes appear and look at Cap. Batman walks forward, and gets into his stance, ready to fight. Cap stands ready to battle as the two stare each other down.

FIGHT!

Cap throws his shield to begin, but it deflects right off of Batman's suit. Cap runs and jumps to grab his shield before slamming it towards Batman, who blocks with one arm. Captain America starts punching Batman repeatedly, who seems to be tanking a few hits, and getting hurt by others. Batman starts dodging the punches and attempts to kick Cap, but his shield blocks Batman's kick. However, Cap gets forced back. Batman hurls a few Batarangs at Captain America, but he blocks them. Cap throws his shield. Batman jumps over the shield, and grabs Cap with his grappling hook as the shield bounces off the back wall of the alley and comes back towards the fighters. The shield hits Batman in the back and Captain America pulls the dazed Batman forward, running and grabbing his shield before slamming it against Batman, forcing him into the wall. Bats seems to have trouble staying on his feet, but he's fine. He activates the Shock Gloves and rushes towards Cap in an attempt to hit him, but the shield takes the whole force of the charge. Batman keeps hitting the shield, but still to no effect. Cap forces Batman back and is prepared to finish the fight before Batman throws down smoke pellets and disappears, causing Cap to punch the wall. The smoke pellets re-detonate, causing the entire alleyway to be filled with smoke. A batarang whizzes by Captain America, who throws his shield in the direction of where the batarang came from, but it disappears in the smoke. The shield slams onto the ground in front of Cap with a bat-shaped design on it, which happens to be Explosive Gel.

After the explosion, Cap is disoriented, but still very much alive. Batman hits the disoriented Captain America at a pressure point before hitting him a few more times, knocking Cap to his knees. Batman picks up Cap's Shield and smacks Cap upwards with it. He pulls out his grappling hook and wraps it around Cap's neck and attaches him to a light post, hanging him to death.

K.O.!

Batman throws the shield at Cap's body, splitting it in half before disappearing.

While Cap had the advantage in both endurance and power, and Batman has admitted that Cap could beat him in a fight, although it would take a very long time, there's a big difference between could and would. You could survive falling from an airplane to the ground, but would you: Not really. Also, Batman is more than just a boxer. His ability to disarm opponents, and his stealth skills, allowed him to turn the fight in his favor. The gadgets Batman has are also helpful. While Cap can "see faster" than most people, doesn't mean Cap can see everything. Also, Batman fights and sneaks around beings far more powerful and advanced than Cap or any of Hydra's minions. After all, anyone who is able to sneak around Superman, who has Super Hearing and Super Vision, is more than capable of sneaking around Captain America. Plus, Batman knows more about fighting styles and pressure points because he's mastered literally all of them as opposed to Captain America, who is only adept with those subjects, which helped him incapacitate and kill the patriotic superhero.

Boomstick: Captain America just couldn't hang in there.
Wiz: The winner is Batman!

Next time on Death Battle...

Batman VS Captain America contains examples of...

  • Attack Reflector: Captain America's shield can "reflect anything from bullets to lasers" not that it helps in the fight.
  • Back from the Dead: invoked Batman's second episode in the series goes much better this time around though Word of God is that this episode was intended to be a prequel to "Batman vs. Spider-Man", possibly making this an Averted Trope.
  • Badass Normal: Despite Batman's impressive feats, he still has no superpowers and is just as sucseptible to knives and bullets as a regular person. Fortunately, he doesn't need superpowers for this fight.
  • Big Brother Is Watching You: Batman's hacking skills are so good that he can create a digital 3D map of the environment just by hacking into the world's cellphones. The implications of this are not lost on Wiz but Boomstick only wants to know where he left his keys.
  • Determinator: One of the connections between the two combatants. Both men are willing to do whatever it takes to uphold their sense of justice.
  • Empowered Badass Normal: Despite the Super Serum increasing his strength and speed, Captain America can still be put down by regular weapons. Additionally the increase to his strength and speed are just barely outside of the limits peak-human condition.
  • Grappling-Hook Pistol: One of Batman's iconic weapons. In the fight, it's used to bind Captain America and strangle him to death.
  • Half the Man He Used to Be: Combined with Desecrating the Dead but for no apparent reason, Batman decides to use Cap's shield to split him in two after he already strangled Captain America to death.
  • Hypocrite: The hosts accuse Cap of being one in his crusade against street drugs despite being empowered by a Super Serum.
  • Luckily, My Shield Will Protect Me: Captain America's shield, of course. It's described as being so tough that the only way to damage it is by tampering with it on the molecular level. Indeed when, Batman blows it up with his Explosive Gel, the shield doesn't even have a scratch.
  • Pressure Point: One of Batman's abilities to weaken and incapacitate opponents. Captain America is no different.
  • Shock and Awe: This time around Batman dons the shock guantlets, which do exactly what you think they do.
  • Stealth Expert: Batman as usual. Considering Superman sometimes fails to pick up on him, Captain America had no chance keeping track of his whereabouts.
  • Stuff Blowing Up: Batman's Explosive Gel. In the fight proper, all it does is briefly stun Captain America.
  • Super Serum:
    • Steve Rogers had one of these as part of his backstory. It made him roughly 1.5 times stronger and 3 times faster than a human in peak physical condition.
    • Played for Laughs and quickly subverted with Boomstick. Someone sold him one but all that happened was that he woke up in Denny's a week later with his wallet missing.
  • Unskilled, but Strong: Captain America is deemed to be stronger than Batman but has a fairly predictable fighting style and is ill-suited to countering Batman's stealth and wide array of gadgets. Note he is adept in every martial art but Batman has mastered them.
  • Utility Belt: But of course, Batman brings his iconic belt.
  • Weak, but Skilled: Batman is this compared to Captain America, having mastered every martial art while also having access to a versatile set of gadgets to keep Cap on his toes. In the fight proper, Batman paralyses Captain America using pressure points before dealing the killing blow.
