Taro: With the addition of Sonoi's group, the Donbrothers are stronger than ever.
There is nothing that can stop us anymore.

With the Nōto Trio having officially joined forces with them, the Donbrothers are at their strongest yet! The Overseers, however, have one trick left up their sleeve: using Taro's self-proclaimed rival Minoru Ohno to create the strongest Hitotsu-ki to counter them! Can our heroes defeat it?

Meanwhile, Tsubasa meets with Tsuyoshi to help him move on, only for things to take an unexpected turn...

Tropes

  • Becoming the Mask: As a result of having dreams of her time as Miho, Natsumi seems to have developed some feelings for Tsuyoshi.
  • Break-Up/Make-Up Scenario: Subverted. This episode seemingly marks the "make up" part of Tsubasa and Tsuyoshi's 15-episode-long "break up"; Tsubasa introducing Tsuyoshi to Natsumi and pleading for the salaryman to forget Miho. While the two are cordial enough to hold a conversation (and even work together in the battle with Ohsama-Ki), Tsuyoshi remains tense about the issue and calls Tsubasa out for assuming it was as simple as "forgetting."
  • Brick Joke: The Sonoshigoroku gang lost in the previous episode after grabbing the Villain Ball and trying to defeat Sonoi while blindfolded. This time around, Taro, Sonoi and Jiro all beat them while the latter are blindfolded.
  • The Bus Came Back: Minoru Ohno appears again after a 12-episode absence.
  • Call-Back: When Sonoi and Taro blindfold themselves, they use the handkerchiefs they bandaged each other with back in episode 27.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: Taro, Sonoi, and Jiro prove their strength in the battle with the Overseers, and to rub salt in the wound, they do it blindfolded.
  • Declaration of Protection: Sononi destroys the squad-cars of the cops pursuing Tsubasa, stating out loud that "Tsubasa Inuzuka is to be left alone."
  • Final Boss Preview: It features two new Nōto: Sonona and Sonoya, who apparently work for the Council and are built up to be the final villains of the show.
  • Foreshadowing:
    • When Jiro and Sonoi states they still want to duel against Taro, the latter responds that he doesn't care about who is the strongest. The two point out to him about how out of character that statement was.
    • Upon being served oden by the Sonoshigoroku gang as a peace offering, Taro claims to not know who they are. While everyone else dismisses this and casually reminds him, only Tsubasa feels that something is amiss.
    • The gang pulls a Surprise Party at the end for Taro's birthday, but he states it isn't his birthday, while Kaito admits to have gotten the date wrong. Shinichi however finds it odd that the normally Crazy-Prepared Kaito would make such a mistake.
  • Gone Horribly Right: The Overseers turns Minoru into Ohsama-Ki, only for the latter's ego to skyrocket and beat them up in return. This leads to the Overseers teaming up with the Donbrothers to put him down.
  • Hypocrite: Ever since the truth about Miho came out, Tsubasa had been trying to settle it by getting Tsuyoshi to see things from his perspective and assume he'll accept it. His meeting with Tsuyoshi this episode cements Tsubasa as this, as it becomes clear Tsubasa refuses to see things from his or even Natsumi's perspectives, which costs him his relationship with her.
  • Locked Out of the Loop: Tsubasa has no idea that Taro literally can't lie to save his life.
  • Love Cannot Overcome: Natsumi realizes that Tsubasa's new life of being a secretive fugitive isn't for her, and refuses to flee with him when the cops come chasing him.
  • Mood Dissonance: When Taro dies over lying about his comrades not being the reason he's happy, everyone celebrates over how this is proof that Taro has grown emotionally. Haruka then immediately lampshades how wrong this actually is, while Tsubasa worriedly tries to beckon Kaito for help due to being unaware of Taro's condition.
  • Moving Angst: Tsuyoshi quits his job and later reveals that he's moving away. His apartment has too many memories of Miho.
  • Out-of-Character Alert: Thrice.
    • Discussed early in the episode: Taro decides that he no longer cares who the strongest amongst the group is. Jiro, Sonoi and even the man himself all acknowledge how weird it is.
    • Taro doesn't seem to know who the Sonoshigoroku gang are despite having fought them repeatedly in the past few episodes and early on in this same episode. Tsubasa seems especially concerned.
    • The normally-Crazy-Prepared Kaito somehow gets Taro's birthday wrong. Shinichi takes note of how odd it is.
  • Right Behind Me: The Donbrothers and the Overseers discuss Ohsama-Ki all while Minoru approaches them, asks for five fish cakes, and starts the fight.
  • Running Gag: This is the fourth time Minoru Ohno becomes a Hitotsu-ki.
  • Surprisingly Realistic Outcome: Tsubasa once again attempts to invoke immediate change out of Tsuyoshi by begging him to forget Miho and become the nice man he used to be. Tsuyoshi calls him out and explains that it isn't that simple before trying to storm away; only stopped by the arrival of the police and a meaningful glance in Natsumi's direction.
  • Tsundere: During the party, Taro claims he doesn't think the others bring him happiness, only to pass out as he's lying.
  • Wham Shot:
    • Ohno becoming a Hitotsu-ki again? Not surprising. His Hitotsu-ki form being themed after the King-Ohgers? Completely out of left-field.
    • When Tsubasa brings Natsumi to meet with Tsuyoshi, he gets spotted by the cops and has to run, urging Natsumi to come along with him. To everyone's shock, Natsumi refuses to go with him.
