"I love to keep up with you guys online. You guys are really funny. You have a really good sense of humor."
Taylor Swift on her fans' memes

It's memes, hi! Taylor's known for her memes!

Since she is one of the, if not the, biggest musicians of the post-social media era, it's little surprise that Taylor Swift, both within and outside of her fandom, is the source of countless memes.

Please add entries in the following format:

  • The meme. [[labelnote:Explanation]]The explanation behind the meme, if necessary.[[/labelnote]] Explanation
    • Further mutations and successor memes, if any.

Also, please try to keep the memes actually related to Taylor Swift in some way and make sure they're relatively well known already in the community. This page is not for forcing anything you find funny to become a meme.

  • "And I say: That's My Baby And I'm Proud". One of the interview of Andrea Swift from 2013 has led to this meme to rise as a way to express how proud someone is.
  • "Picture To Burn (Homophobic Version)". The original version of "Picture To Burn" contain a lyric that was edited out of the radio version: "I'll tell mine note  you're gay". With the rerelease many fans jokingly refer this name to the original version.
    • "Better Than Revenge (Misogynistic Version)". Similar story to the old version of "Better Than Revenge", where the Slut-Shaming lyrics ("She's better known for the thing that she does on the mattress") was replaced in "Better Than Revenge (Taylor's Version)" To "He was the moth to the flames, She was holding the matches". Many fans became confused while singing the new lyrics and ended up mashing the old and new lyrics together (e.g. "She was holding the mattress").
  • The music video of "You Belong With Me" has lasted long as an exploitable meme of Taylor and her crush communicating between their houses via holding signs. Usually, the "You OK?" sign Taylor shows is maintained and a humorous message is shown on the crush's sign.
  • It's become something of an internet tradition to play "22" or quote its chorus on a post for someone's 22nd birthday.
  • In the early 2010s due to the popularity of Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, a graphic was made of Scott being told he'd have to fight all of Taylor's exes and going Oh
  • The "Goat Edition" of "I Knew You Were Trouble."
  • People answering a question like "Is that Taylor Swift??" with "No, it's Becky. This originated with a troll post on Tumblr where someone posted an old photo of Taylor but claimed it was their friend Becky, who died of a marijuana overdose in middle school. Taylor herself even wore a "no it's becky" shirt at one point. Taylor's mother, Andrea, once wore a neck name tag that said "No, it's Debbie". It became funny with fans to the point that an official news article called her Debbie and Andrea herself even had a mug that had a screencap of the news site's article.
  • "Im'a let you finish, but..." The infamous Kanye West interruption of her winning in the 2009 MTV Award.
  • Following a popular mishearing in the chorus of "Blank Space", the original line being "Got a long list of ex-lovers", which sounded to many like "All the lonely Starbucks lovers", a humorous parody about fans of the coffee chain emerged.
    • Also from Blank Space, likening the lyrics "Got a long list of ex lovers, they'll tell you I'm insane, but I've got a blank space baby, and I'll write your name" to linking this to other deadly notebooks like Death Note or Future Diary. It has Yuno's name (so to speak) written all over it. There's even a video of a girl who cosplayed as Yuno while singing the song and looking incredibly creepy.
    • Tumblr took the line "Darling, I'm a nightmare dressed like a daydream" and applied it to... well, every single female character they could justify it for, and a few they couldn't.
  • Taylor's crotch chop at the end of this video spawned an epic 30-page Something Awful photoshop thread. Just some of the highlights can be found here and here.
  • "I'm sorry, the old Taylor can't come to the phone right now. Why? 'Cause she's dead." from "Look What You Made Me Do."Explanation
    • Speaking of which, "Jack did it better." has become a popular joke about the song, even with those who liked it in the first place.
    • And now, with the release of the third reputation single "Gorgeous" and the fact that it wouldn't sound out of place in her previous album, 1989, people are triumphantly saying "She's not dead!"
  • "Taylor hates Kanye".Stems from detractors saying "Look What You Made Me Do" (and guessing (correctly) reputation.) is about him. Big in depth responses were also made in light to the fact the album's release date is on the anniversary of Donda West's death. Although that will quickly be shouted down by her fans.
  • "Name a bitch badder than Taylor Swift". A tweet that went viral with people quote retweeting it with examples of historical/important/inspirational women, though there's lots of evidence to suggest the original tweet was tongue-in-cheek to begin with.
  • "1, 2, 3, let's go bitch!". As explained in depth in this article, a fan shouted this before the first verse of "Delicate" during a show in the reputation tour. This became viral on Twitter and quickly caught on for the rest of the tour. By the time of the next tour, the Eras Tour, it was fully embraced, with Swift counting down during the part and every fan shouting the phrase during the song.
  • #drunktaylor. This video of Taylor dancing to You Need To Calm Down became viral on Twitter, and the hashtag "#drunktaylor" instantly became a worldwide trend. She herself was even amazed of it becoming a meme. The thing is however, it's not clear if Taylor was really drunk or not, but what matters?
  • "Here's how Cruel Summer can be a single". "Cruel Summer" is a beloved song off the album Lover that is often described as a perfect fit for a single but never was one during the album cycle. Once folklore was released, phrases like this one became a way for fans to lament a missed opportunity. The meme lasted long enough that, four years after the album's release, the song actually became a single. Swift confirmed that the original plan was to release the song as a single in Summer 2020, but the COVID-19 Pandemic made such an idea not feasible and possibly in poor taste.
  • Dr. Taylor Alison Swift. Taylor received an honorary doctorate from NYU - cue fans photoshopping a Labcoat of Science and Medicine onto her in photos and jokingly using "Dr. Taylor Swift" as Insistent Terminology.
  • (Taylor's Version). The bitter war between Taylor and her old record label leading to the rerecording of all of her first six albums has inspired fans to put this quote after many of their socia media accounts to support her rerecording effort, especially prevalent after the rerelease of Fearless (Taylor's Version)
    • (Taylor's Version)(From the Vault)(Elvira Remix)(Sad Autumn Girl Verions)(Recorded at Long Pond Studio). That said, a lot of fans poke fun at her for the sheer Colon Cancer on her track listing of Red (Taylor's Version), with gems like "All Too Well (Taylor's Version)(10 Minutes Version)(From the Vault)" and its slower remix adding "(Sad Autumn Girl Version)(Recorded at Long Pond Studio)"
  • The lyric "Got nothing in my brain" from the song Shake It Off frequently gets used in videos of people or animals doing unintelligent things, the lyric itself played on a continuous loop.
  • I think I've seen this film before, and I didn't like the ending. A line from "exile", commonly used to compare scenes from different media with similar Tear Jerker outcomes.
  • Joe Alwyn (Pisces). From a gossip article that only refer to her then-boyfriend Joe Alwyn by his astronomy sign has been adapted into the fandom to refer to him because of how publicly private they were about their relationship. Even after his involvement as William Bowery led him to become a major Ensemble Dark Horse, some fans still call him this affectionately. Not helping is that Taylor herself uses astrology and constellation symbolism from time to time in her lyrics and music videos.
  • Joe Alwyn is poor. explanation
  • "It's me, hi! I'm the problem, it's me!". This catchy line from the chorus of "Anti-Hero" became memetic after the release of Midnights, largely in the form of TikTok reaction videos of people talking about their quirks or toxic habits.
  • "Taylor Hates Evermore". The disproportionate attention Taylor gave to folklore as opposed to its sister album evermore has made fans jokingly made this meme. This got a Meme Acknowledgement on her Eras tour and probably why the album got 5 songs on the setlist.
  • "I survived the Great War". When Ticketmaster failed to meet fan demand for the Eras tour ticket sale launch, the day of sales became referred to as The Great War, which is a title of a song on the 3 A.M. version of Midnights. This became big enough to also get a Meme Acknowledgement by Swift before she performed "The Great War" as a surprise song on the tour.
  • "It turned into something bigger. Somewhere in the haze, got a sense I've been betrayed.". This lyric from the song "The Great War" became a TikTok trend with people using the song to reveal their personal betrayals. One version came from The History Channel of all places as to describe Julius Caesar's murder.
  • "Joe Alwyn can you fight?". Her male / Sapphic fans will use this meme tongue in cheeks whenever she appears in a suggestive or just very beautiful outfit in a public outing.
    • "Guess Joe Alwyn can't fight.". The variation of the meme after their break up annoucement.
    • "Joe Alwyn PLEASE FIGHT." / "Joe Alwyn PLEASE DO SOMETHING" / "Joe Alwyn PLEASE COME BACK". Another variation of the meme after more details about their break up was released, especially with the track "You're Losing Me" as well as Taylor engage in a short-lived but highly publicized romance with Matty Healy that fans heavily dislike due to his problematic past behaviors and comments.
  • "Come back to me, Eli." The way she pronounced the first line in the chorus of the original version of "If This Was A Movie" led to many mishearing it. Making the situation worse is that the song was a bonus track and was released before the existence of streaming, leading to no official lyric handbook available from Taylor. This died down with the rerelease of the song where she clearly pronounced it as "Come back to me like." by adding a little pause between "me" and "like".
    • From the same song, "I've been waiting for you _ since you've been gone." Once again, in the original version of the song, her pronunciation of the word between "you" and "since" is drowned out by the background music led to many fans argue and disagree with each other about what exactly the lyric was, which didn't help by the lack of official lyric handbook available from Taylor. Popular picks include "weary" and "ever". Taylor finally settled the debate with the rerelease when she tweaked the production to be less loud and clearly pronounce the word to be "everyday".
    • "Mad Woman" includes the lyric "does she mouth 'Fuck you forever'?" - due to how the words were emphasized, some fans misinterpreted it as "does she mouth-fuck you forever?".
  • "I am done with Taylor Swift".One clip from The Wendy Williams Show has Williams dramatically exclaim this before discussing a gossip story. The audio of her saying this has become a go-to meme for Swifties, usually in a semi-ironic sense. It became especially viral on one night during the Eras Tour when she performed "Dear John" and "Daylight", two fan favorites, as surprise songs.
  • "OP is a Swiftie." When Tumblr introduced polls, one popular Taylor-centric blog posted a poll about their favorite Taylor songs, which got a lot of traction on the website, which led to people outside the fandom seeing it. This led to a lot of tags and comments complaining that all the options were Taylor songs... despite the fact that it originated from a Taylor blog with a Taylor-themed username, so it should've been pretty clear who the target demographic was. This led to a tongue-in-cheek meme of fans marking all their Taylor-themed posts with text and banners reading "OP is a Swiftie" as a warning.
  • "Facts". From the "Karma" remix with Ice Spice. The remix is generally considered So Okay, It's Average compare to the original version, this line by Ice Spice was considered by many to be hilarious and examplified of the main problem of the remix: Ice Spice's energy is much more subdued and clashed horribly with the beat and Taylor's vocal. Shouting the lyric during the Eras Tour performance of the song, while ignoring the rest of the Ice Spice parts, quickly became a trend too.
  • "I wanna beat your Endgame" Explanation
  • "Karma is the guy on the Chiefs." One of Taylor's Eras Tour shows in Buenos Aires was attended by her boyfriend, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce. While singing Karma, she swapped the original lyrics "Karma is the guy on the screen" (likely a reference to her former boyfriend Joe Alwyn) for the aforementioned line, to the delight of the crowd as well as Travis himself. On later stops, the crowd chanted the modified lyrics themselves, sometimes loud enough to drown out Taylor.
  • "Taylor Swift's unimpressed reaction." During the 81st Golden Globes, host Jo Koy's infamously unfunny monologue featured one joke about Swift and Kelce. Swift, who was in the audience, gave a blank stare towards him while sipping her drink.
  • "The 1830s but without all the racists." Explanation
