The second version of EB & DC

ElectroBabe & DynaChick is a series of five superheroine explotation films produced by Dynahunk Production in the late '90s and early 2000s.

The movies center on the titular ElectroBabe and DynaChick, a duo of spandex-clad amateur crimefighters who often get captured by their bizarre and eccentric Rogues Gallery, and put in slow and sometimes humiliating deathtraps.

The movies are comedic in nature and avoid mature/pornographic content (which was something of an oddity back then), instead focusing on our heroines being chloroformed/outsmarted/overpowered and put in slow deathtraps with lots of Male Gaze Fanservice. According to its creator, Don Courtier, the series is both a satire of and a tribute to old superhero shows like Batman and Electra Woman and Dyna Girl with the added bonus of Male Gaze, Bound and Gagged scenes and skin-tight leotards. These movies are often credited with the creation of the softcore superheroine peril genre of exploitation movies.

After the first two movies, the heroines were recast and given spandex leotards thanks to an increased budget. The fifth and final movie recast them again, with their costumes given an updated design. There was a standalone (cheesy) horror spin-off titled Sucked In where alternative versions of ElectroBabe and DynaChick appear.

Dynahunk Productions later released an episodic spiritual successor: The DareDoll Dilemmas.

This series provides examples of:

  • Affectionate Parody: Of cheesy 1960s/1970s superhero shows like Batman and the obscure ElectraWoman and DynaGirl.
  • Age Lift: The third iterations of EB and DC are played by noticeably older actresses in comparison to the first and second iteration.
  • Author Appeal: Skin-tight spandex leotards? Check! Heroines getting chloroformed? Check! Slow and chessy deathtraps and gratuitous shots of our heroines' features? Check!
  • Brainwashed and Crazy: Former villainess Sweet Puss is brainwashed and turned evil again during EB & DC 5.
  • Buxom Beauty Standard: The second iteration of DynaChick has a noticeable bust in comparison to ElectroBabe and is commented about it.
  • Covert Pervert: The city's police commissioner is shown to be this.
  • Damsel in Distress: The titular ElectroBabe and DynaChick get captured constantly.
  • Deadpan Snarker:
    • DynaChick has shades of this due to her being the smarter of the duo.
    • In the fifth movie, ElectroBabe is the snarker of the duo while DynaChick is The Spock.
  • Death Trap: Used frequently on EB and DC.
  • The Ditz: The second iteration of ElectroBabe has shades of this.
  • Domino Mask: The second iterations of EB and DC wear these.
  • Evil Is Petty: Most of the villains' goals are this.
  • Excuse Plot: The plot is clearly just an excuse to see ElectroBabe and DynaChick get knocked down and put in slow deathtraps by a variety of villains.
  • Expy: The first version of EB and DC that appear in the first two movies are clearly spoofs of ElectraWoman and DynaGirl. The second and third versions of them are less so due to their dynamic and costumes.
  • Faceā€“Heel Turn: While not exactly good, former criminal Sweet Puss is turned evil again via brainwashing in the fifth movie.
  • Fanservice: The films have plenty for fans of the superheroine peril genre.
  • Faux Action Girl: Both our heroines are this as they are easily captured without much of a fight.
  • Girlish Pigtails: All iterations of DynaChick had these.
  • Male Gaze: The camera likes to focus on the girls' curves and busts.
  • Ms. Fanservice: The second iteration of DynaChick, thanks to her buxom figure, and Sweet Puss for her tight, shiny catsuit.
  • Remember the New Guy?: Every time a new villain is introduced, EB and DC act as if they had fought him numerous times in the past, with some exceptions. The most notable example is Sweet Puss, a former criminal and rival of EB & DC who appears in the fifth movie.
  • Too Dumb to Live: Because of this, ElectroBabe and DynaChick are constantly and effortlessly captured.
  • Sensual Spandex: The second and third iterations of EB's and DC's costumes are made of this.
  • Sequel Hook: The fifth movie ends with a brainwashed Sweet Puss escaping justice with the duo knowing that they will see her again. However, a sixth film was never made, as the production team instead made a dream-themed spiritual sequel named Domino Dare. note
