Garden's Universe is a Persona 3 and Problem Children are Coming from Another World, aren't they? crossover fanfiction by Yuuki-Itsuka

At least a hundred years after the events of Persona 3, Yuuki Makoto has been released from the Great Seal. After his resurrection (to which a soul named Cana had latched onto his body), he had gotten bored with his usual life. One day, he receives a letter which transports him (along with Alice and Izanami) to Little Garden.

Has a side story called Fragment Journey which details Makoto's missing memories.

Garden's Universe contains examples of:

  • Arc Villain:
    • Arc 1: [Hamelin]/Bakunawa
    • Arc 2: Izanagi
  • Adaptational Early Appearance: Both Highness and Rin appear earlier in this fic.
    • Queen Halloween appears in Chapter 01. She doesn't make a proper appearance in the novels until Mondaiji's sequel, Last Embryo
  • Bathtub Bonding: Shirayuki and Makoto have one in Chapter 11.
  • Casanova Wannabe: Arsene though it can be noted that girls such as the female shopkeeper do get charmed, it's just because he moves on to flirting with other girls too quickly.
  • Challenge Seeker: Both Izayoi and Makoto, though Makoto is a bit more in control of it.
  • Chick Magnet: Makoto during his Journey. He even lampshades it.
  • Clingy Jealous Girl:
    • Lily and Sandora both doesn't appreciate Alice's teasing of Jin. Alice milks it for all its worth.
    • Elizabeth also doesn't appreciate the fact Makoto lived with Alice and Izanami.
  • Clipped-Wing Angel: While it's undeniable that Weser and Ratten got more powerful after Akechi forces them into a Psychotic Breakdown, their crazy state pretty much forgot about rational thought and thus cannot use their powers well enough to take advantage of the boost.
  • Combat Pragmatist: Mizar. She takes full advantage of her Me's a Crowd ability and doesn't let Elizabeth get a breathing room during their fight. This allows her to actually corner Elizabeth despite the gap in their power.
  • Cover-Blowing Superpower: Izanami unleashes her power during the fight with Maria Makiling. Izanagi winds up discovering this which kicks off the next Arc.
  • Dramatic Irony: In one Extra Chapter, Makoto admits to Marie that he's afraid that might not be able to get married due to the possibility of dying. Anyone who's played Persona 3 knows that he will ultimately die saving the world.
  • Face of an Angel, Mind of a Demon: to no one's suprise, it's Alice
  • Foil: Makoto and Jin. Both are young leaders of their respective Community. But while Jin is a young boy who isn't even a teenager, Makoto is a young adult who is just about to reach 20 years-old. Makoto is also very confident with himself while Jin sees himself as an inadequate leader. Their approach on handling [Demon Lords] are also different with Jin actively challenging them while Makoto states he would only take them on if they attack him or his allies first.
  • The Gadfly: Izayoi and Asuka. Arsene too though he mostly targets Laius.
  • Giant Flyer: Bakunawa is described as one. With an immesurable body and wings capable of blocking out the sky. Funnily enough, its human form is a 14 year old child.
  • Honor Before Reason: Makoto could've defeated Apolaki quite easily if he nulified his flames but refused to do so because it would disrespect his opponent.
  • Item Crafting: Makoto can craft various items that allows the user to use Persona's skills.
  • Like an Old Married Couple: Izanami and Makoto. Izanami always chastises Makoto's carefree attitude while he just responds with teasing and assurance. Makoto also teasingly calls her 'honey' from time to time.
  • Lovable Sex Maniac: Shiroyasha and Izayoi as per canon.
  • Me's a Crowd: Mizar's ability which she milks for all its worth.
  • Reformed, but Not Tamed: Alice. Despite the fact that she's been pacified a bit by Makoto, she is still a Demon at core. She is also the most brutal of the members of [XXI: Universe] as shown with her fight against Pest.
  • Related in the Adaptation: Extra Chapters reveal that Makoto and Naoto Shirogane are cousins.
  • Ship Tease: Makoto with Izanami and Shirayuki. Jin with Alice.
  • Shout-Out:
  • Tsundere: Shirayuki towards Makoto. Izanami too but she's less harsh to him than Shirayuki.
  • The Tease:
    • Makoto is a male example towards Shirayuki and Izanami.
    • Alice is a big one towards Jin
  • Two Lines, No Waiting: The Salamandra/Underwood arc: Alice's group goes to Salamndra for the Rise of the Dragon Festival while Makoto's group goes to Underwood to meet Queen Halloween. Both groups get caught up in a [Gift Game] with a [Demon Lord].
  • Weak, but Skilled: Mizar openly admits that she's not one of the stronger Septentrione. She gets around this by being a Combat Pragmatist and utilizing her Me's a Crowd ability to its full extent. This even allows her to beat the much stronger Elizabeth in a fight.
  • Wham Line: All over the place.
    • Makoto to Kuro Usagi in Chapter 02.
Makoto: We're not joining your Community.
    • Chapter 05:
Little Garden is a place where gods and other beings exists. Who is to say that Shadows didn't exist here as well?
    • Two in Chapter 07:
"Well isn't it about time you meet up with them..." Highness said. Akechi Goro.
Makoto: "I'm surprised that you're here, Sakaki Takaya"
    • Chapter 10:
If Yuuki Makoto becomes a [Last Embryo], then there is no stopping Little Garden's destruction.
  • Older Than They Look: Downplayed. Makoto is 19-years old but Jin notes that he doesn't look that much older than Izayoi and Asuka, who are two and four years younger than him respectivelly.

Fragment Journey contains examples of:

  • Attention Whore: Kamoshida. He believes that he's the king of Shujin and doesn't like the fact that Makoto (Yuuki) is being admired by both students and teachers alike.
  • Cool Teacher: Makoto is described as such by Sadayo.
  • One-Steve Limit: Averted. Both Nijima and Yuuki share the same first name: Makoto. Makoto (Yuuki) lampshades it.
