Jaune Arc: The Elemental Swordsman provides examples of:

  • Adaptational Angst Upgrade: Jaune ran away from home as child when his parents refused to train him which led him to being found by a former female White Fang member Gin Inari and meeting Ren and Nora at a young age.
  • Adaptational Backstory Change: Jaune's backstory has changed from a student who has no experience and lied his way into Beacon using forged transcripts to a elemental swordsman who met Amber earlier on and was trained by a Fox Faunus named Gin Inari.
  • Adaptational Badass: Jaune obviously.
  • Adaptational Superpower Change: In canon Jaune's semblance is Ki Manipulation, here it is Elemental Powers.
  • Affectionate Nickname: Jaune gave cute nicknames to each member of team RWBY since they're his girlfriends, but strangely Pyrrha doesn't get one. Ruby as 'Rosebud', Weiss as 'Snow Angel', Blake as 'Kitten', and Yang as 'Sunfire'. Jaune gets one from Yang called 'Hero'.
  • An Arm and a Leg: Jaune cuts off both of Mercury's mechanical legs to prevent him from escaping and leaving him to be likely killed by the Grimms.
  • Badass Family: Jaune's family along with Ren and Nora, who are honorary.
  • Battle Harem: Jaune's girlfriends consisting of Team RWBY and Pyrrha are all Huntress-in-Training.
  • Big Damn Heroes: Jaune's father stops Adam right when he was about to attack an injured Blake and Yang. Jaune's mother manages to reattach Yang's severed arm back with Ren and Nora's help.
  • Bittersweet Ending: Although Cinder and the Wyvern were killed, Jaune is nowhere to be found as Ironwood and Ozpin only found his scroll with a recording that not only clears Yang's and Pyrrha's name, and message that also unlocks the swords that he gives Team RWBY and Pyrrha, and his positive opinions and encouragement on them each individually.
  • Chick Magnet: Jaune manages to attract the likes of Amber, Velvet, Yang, Blake, Pyrrha, Ruby, Weiss, and even Cinder!.
  • Death by Adaptation: Cinder is killed by Jaune when she tried to escape. Jaune at first, but subverted.
  • Elemental Powers: Jaune's Semblance can control Fire, Water, Earth, Air, and Lightning.
  • For Want Of A Nail: Jaune's Adaptational Badass and Adaptational Backstory Change has altered and change the story significantly.
    • With the Wyvern killed by Jaune, Vale and Beacon was able to recover and still function due to less Grimm to deal with.
    • Jaune's parents come and save Blake and Yang from Adam. Jaune's mother manages to reattach Yang's severed arm back to her and convince Blake to not run away.
    • Jaune prevents Pyrrha and Ozpin from being killed by Cinder.
  • Impaled with Extreme Prejudice: Jaune stabs Cinder right in the heart.
  • In Spite of a Nail: Despite the aforementioned changes there were things that still happened.
    • The Fall of Beacon still happened, but it is less severe then in canon.
    • Amber is still killed by Cinder despite Jaune being there to guard her.
  • Open Mouth, Insert Foot: Downplayed. Jaune thoughtlessly comments on the beauty of Ruby's eyes. It's non-offensive, but both are clearly mortified that he blurted it out.
  • Sadistic Choice: Cinder gives Jaune a choice between saving either Pyrrha or Amber with the former being one of his current lovers and the latter being his former lover.
  • Spared by the Adaptation: Pyrrha and Ozpin survived the Fall of Beacon.
  • Took a Level in Badass: Team RWBY and Pyrrha receive elemental swords from Jaune.
  • Took a Level in Kindness: Cardin and his team reform after the Forever Fall incident and as a result become more nice.
  • Unstoppable Force Meets Immovable Object: Jaune's Father says this word for word when looking at his and Adam's Semblance with the former being an Unstoppable Force to Adam's Immovable Object.
