Colin T. Trevorrownote (born September 13, 1976) is a movie director, screenwriter and producer. Born in San Francisco, California, he sang the chorus at the San Francisco Opera as a boy. He got involved in film making as a teenager, winning awards at film festivals.
His first feature film success was Safety Not Guaranteed, directed by him and written by his friend and frequent collaborator Derek Connolly. It got good reviews and won accolades among indie awards, including a Grand Jury Prize nomination at Sundance. Afterwards, he and Connolly were hired by Disney to rewrite the screenplay for a remake of Flight of the Navigator, though as of 2017 the project has apparently moved on with different writers. Trevorrow's first blockbuster was Jurassic World, released in 2015. The same year, Disney announced that he and Connolly would write the screenplay for Episode 9 of Star Wars, with Trevorrow also directing the movie. However, in 2017, it was announced that the two had left the project. While many believed it to have been because of the negative reception of The Book of Henry, a film directed by Trevorrow that had been released to negative reviews a few months before the announcement, Trevorrow himself said it was because of creative differences with producer Kathleen Kennedy of Lucasfilm. He and Connolly still have story credits in the released movie, The Rise of Skywalker.
In the 2020s, Trevorrow directed the third entry in the Jurassic World films, subtitled Jurassic World Dominion, and served as an executive producer of the Netflix animated childrens' TV series Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous.
