Main Characters

    Daniel Del Toro

Daniel

• Literally Souless
• Top Senior in School
• Queer Ace
A High School Student who releases a Demon sealed under the school.
  • Animal Motifs: Is compared to cats in a gag strip and is eventually drawn as one. In Page 336 he makes a facial expression that is cat like.
  • Black Eyes of Evil: Losing his soul has turned his sclera black. It actually took him a while to notice as they were dilated most of the time, making them appear normal.
  • Eaten Alive: Gets eaten by Manuel in Chapter 5 but Daniel manages to pull himself out.
  • Hidden Depths: Knows how to sew and fix up clothing.
  • Horror Hunger: His now soulless state requires him to consume angel's haloes, which is essentially a vital organ for them.
  • Humanoid Abomination: How angels see his him now that he has no soul, outright referring to him as a monster. As the comic goes on, between his Black Eyes of Evil and Horror Hunger, it becomes clear that they may not be entirely wrong.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: If you get past the sour salty surface Daniel can be a pretty tolerable and kind guy. Those who see this side is family (namely his sister Marisol and his grandmother) and later down the road, Esther up until he finds out she was manipulating him.
  • Jerkass: Daniel isn't exactly nice to other people, often insulting them or cursing them out, keeping them at a distance from him.
  • The Soulless: Loses his soul by breaking the seal that was placed on Esther.

    The Demon, "Esther"

Esther

• Junk Food Enthusiast
• Seems Nice
• Pansexual

The Demon who was sealed under the school.

  • Becoming the Mask: Implied to be the case, as she was thinking about her situation in Chapter 6, she seemed to have grown attached to Daniel.
  • Our Demons Are Different: Is a goat demon.
  • Lethal Chef: It's implied that she's not the best cook to say the least, as shown here where she creates an explosion just from adding milk to cereal.
  • Manipulative Bastard: Near the end of Chapter 4, Esther reveals that she was using Daniel as a weapon against La Divinidad and had to do so emotionally than with her powers since Daniel doesn't have a soul for it to be useful.
  • Mind Manipulation:
    • Once she holds someone's hand, she can make them do whatever she wants. It seems to have its limits though as Esther learns in Chapter 6 when she tries to influence a hotel receptionist to give her a room for free since she lacks money, but the receptionist's fear of getting fired only gets her to halve the rate for Esther instead.
    • She can also read minds if she puts her forehead on another and rubs her head on them.
  • Never Learned to Read: Mentions to Daniel that she never saw the point of learning how to read languages since they kept changing over the years, relaying more on her Omniglot power to speak them. In Chapter 6 this decision of hers later bites her in the ass when she's on her own in Santagüey. The comic shows how the words are warped in Esther's point of view.
  • Statuesque Stunner: Esther is one of the tallest characters in the webcomic and is seen as very attractive, even without her ability to influence people by holding their hand.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: It might be chocolate as seen here and here.

    Rosamaria Enriquez

Rosamaria

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/screen_shot_2020_03_09_at_103447_pm.png
• Baseball Team's Captain
• Tough but Sensitive
• Bisexual

Vice president of the Student Council and Captain of the Baseball Team.

  • Academic Athlete: She's captain of the baseball team and in terms of academics is second only to Daniel.
  • Berserk Button: She’s very short and quite sensitive about it. Her first meeting with Manuel involved him helping her reach a high bookshelf and her kicking him in the shin for it.
  • Jerkass Has a Point: She’s really rough with Daniel and tries to oust him as student council president, but his general abrasiveness and seeming unwillingness or inability to fulfill his responsibilities as president certainly make her frustration with him understandable.
  • Parental Abandonment: As revealed by Daniel on Page 36, her Father left her family and as a result, her Mother became a drunk, pretty much leaving Rosamaria and her siblings on their own.
  • Promotion to Parent: With her father leaving the family and her mother becoming a drunk, it leaves only Rosamaria to look after her younger siblings with Manuel occasionally helping her.

    Manuel A. Cruz

Manuel

• Church Choir Leader
• Senior Prefect
• Disaster Bisexual

Head of the Church Choir, who's also a member of the Student Council.

  • Crouching Moron, Hidden Badass: Is pretty scatterbrained a lot of the time. But once he's doing what he does best, one of that being the "Saint of Death" you better pray to La Divinidad to help you in your final moments.
  • Curtains Match the Window: Has yellow hair and eyes.
  • Failed a Spot Check: Manuel can be really slow to notice some details, often the obvious ones. As it took him a full week to realize the time when Daniel broke the seal on Esther.
  • Humanoid Abomination: Somehow, more than most angels, whose true forms could be described as a bundle of wings and arms. What we’ve seen of his true form consists of a bunch tentacles and three eyes formed in his chest cavity, and when he manifests his head it appears to be an enormous skull that looks like a combination of a horse and a dog.
  • Our Angels Are Different: Is actually an angel masquerading as a human. In fact, he's the Saint of Judgement and Death.
  • Too Spicy for Yog-Sothoth: Daniel is apparently too much for Manuel as immediately after he retches up blood, Daniel pulls himself out.
