Anger Is Not Enough: For the bulk of the story, Amelia maintains a thorny, distrustful exterior towards most everyone. She believes she cannot trust the grown-up figures in her life to take care of her, so she convinced herself she doesn't need anyone. While this attitude chips away as Amelia is shown genuine love and care from Cassian, Harold, Raine, Tuck, Willow, etc., it isn't until she finds herself in The Mirror Dimension that she decides it's time to let herself grieve, both for her deceased father and for herself after the abuse she's faced. While anger made her feel stronger, she has grown and matured enough to realize it wasn't what she needed to move on in life, especially now that she had found a place to call home.
Stepford Smiler: Occaisionally. While he often is a genuinely cheery person, Cassian feels a great deal of pressure to "keep it together" for the sake of everyone he cares about.
Gentle Giant: Despite their size and intimidating appearance, Amos is incredibly shy and soft-spoken. They're also very gentle and dextrous with their hands.
Reformed Criminal: Tuck was born into crime. His father ran an alcohol smuggling ring during the prohibition-era and raised Tuck in the trade. Even after his death, Tuck survived off of small con jobs and petty thievery. But those days are long behind him.
Willow
Dumb Blonde: Subverted. On the surface, Willow could be seen as a shallow dumb party girl, but that is far from the truth. Willow is incredibly empathetic and has an almost supernatural intuition when it comes to the feelings of others.
Elisedd
Nicoletta Mor
Cool Aunt: Even though she's not related to any of the other characters by blood, Nicoletta still acts as Cassian and Co's "cool rich aunt" who has gifts and stories whenever she visits. Have I mentioned she's also a model?
Break the Haughty:Dolcibella's collected and cool demeanor breaks when they realize Erebos has been mortally wounded. After he's faded in her arms, she can't bring herself to do anything. Everything she's worked for- her plans, her power- and the one she loved most in the world, are gone.
Sour Outside, Sad Inside: Pushes Tuck away through whatever means necessary because he needs Tuck to stay away from him so he's safe from Dolcibella.
Flynn Kacey
Lack of Empathy: Flynn has conditioned himself to not feel empathy for others, believing it's the best way to the survive as a Vamp.
Danforth Grieve
Opportunistic Bastard: At least he tries to be. He doesn't realize Dolcibella is just using him and wouldn't hesitate to throw him away the second he's no longer useful.
Mordecai Douglas
Believing Their Own Lies: Mordecai downplays the severity of his abuse towards Xanthe, claiming that it's "not as bad" that she was taken advantage of by someone who knows and loves her, rather than a stranger who would put her in "real harm". While Mordecai tells Xanthe this as a manipulation tactic to keep her quiet about the abuse, the lie just as much about justifying his actions to himself. Mordecai similarly deludes himself into believing the reason why he killed Kendra was because "losing a parent would be objectively less traumatizing than finding out your close relative is a pedophile". None of this is true, Mordecai is only ever out for his own self-preservation.
Child by Rape: Xanthe's was conceived while her mother was still a teenager after being manipulated by her high school literature teacher, who threatened her with a failing grade if she didn't have sex with him. Xanthe discovers this accidentally after trying to learn more about who her father was, as Kendra never talked about him while she was alive.
Gayngst: On top of the usual internalized and external homophobia that exists in the world, Xanthe is afraid that being attracted to "the same kind of girls" as Mordecai makes her just as bad and predatory as him. But there is a world of a difference between Xanthe, a 12/13 yr old girl being attracted to other 12/13 yr old girls as opposed to Mordecai, who is well into his thirties.
Creepy Good: Her current state may be alarming (Amelia ran away from her when they first encountered eachother in The Mirror Dimension) but she's not evil in the slightest.
Parental Neglect: After Percival's death, Ainsley emotionally closes off from Amelia, too wracked with her own grief to give her daughter the care and patience she needed following the loss of her father.
Percival Free
Posthumous Character: The events that follow Percival's death are what lead to Amelia running away from home and getting involved with the rest of the cast and triggering many story events. Amelia, Diggory, and Ainsley are all still grieving over Percival's death and their emotional journeys to find peace (especially Amelia's) are pivotal.
