Canon Protagonists

Sora

The main protagonist of the Kingdom Hearts series and this fanfiction series.

Tropes:

  • Adaptational Angst Upgrade: This version of Sora goes through so much torment throughout the first two stories by the hands of Abraxas, KRONOS, Moria's Cresent, and other forces.
  • Heroic B So D: After taking so much torment throughout Dual Destinies and Cracks of the Past, Sora hits the breaking point when he and Luna learn about the truth about the Keyholes in Atlantis. Sora pretty much quits after returning to Radiant Garden.
  • Significant Wardrobe Shift: Sora starts off wearing his Kingdom Hearts II clothing. However, they were so badly damaged from Sora's terrible battle against Desiree that they couldn't be used anymore. So, Neuge provided Sora with a new adventure outfit that he uses from Cracks of the Past onwards.

Riku

Sora's best friend and a true Keyblade Master. He wields the Way to the Dawn Keyblade.

Tropes:

  • Adaptation Deviation: In the canon Kingdom Hearts, Riku's Way to the Dawn broke in half and gets replaced with Braveheart. In this fanfiction, Riku still has Way to the Dawn. It's unknown if Braveheart exists in this series.

  • Revenge - Riku wanted to destroy Moria's Crescent for what they've done to Sora, physically and mentally during Cracks of the Past. Later, in Paved With Gold, this was Riku's initial reason for pursuing Janus.

Kairi

A Princess of Heart, another best friend of Sora's, and a fledgling Keyblade wielder.

Tropes

  • Bookworm: Thanks to her interest in Atlantis, she spent a lot of time researching. She even has an alchemy book.

  • Green-Eyed Monster: Twice in Cracks of the Past, Kairi displayed this trope. The first time, she was suspicious of Sora and Namine after Sora snuck out of the hospital. The second time was when Riku mentioned that Sora liked a girl when they were in school, Kairi asked who it was.

Original Protagonists

Luna

The main protagonist of the fanfiction series. She is one of the first characters to appear at the start of Dual Destinies.

Tropes

  • Bookworm: Luna grew up reading. Her favorite genre is mystery.

  • Relationship Upgrade: In the final chapters of Cracks of the Past, Luna and Sora became a couple.

  • Self-Made Orphan: Luna, shortly after becoming the first Chimera, unconsciously returned home and murdered her parents. When she remembered this incident, it would end messing her up throughout Cracks of the Past.

Astra

Luna's best friend from Alexander and a member of Moria's Crescent.

Tropes

  • Green-Eyed Monster: Astra was NOT fond of Sora in Cracks of the Past. In Paved With Gold, Astra realizes that she was jealous of Sora's friendship with Luna.

Group of Characters (Canon Allies)

Roxas

Roxas is the former thirteenth member of Organization XIII and the former Nobody of Sora.

Tropes

  • Adapted Out: In the canon Kingdom Hearts III, Roxas dual-wielded Oathkeeper and Oblivion in the Keyblade Graveyard. In this story, Roxas uses the Two Become One Keyblade only.

  • I Am Not Him - Once again, Roxas had to say that he is not Sora. The only problem is that he was dealing with Kefka.

Xion

The former fourteenth member of Organization XIII and the former Replica of both Sora and Roxas.

Tropes

  • Revenge - She obtains this for Roxas by brutally killing Kefka by the end of Cracks in the Past. In Paved With Gold, she wants to have revenge against Janus for torturing her and Riku.

  • Samurai - After being rescued by Sora and Luna, Xion fled Beast's Castle and ends up being taught the ways of the samurai, both in philosophy and in sword fighting.

Original Allies

Neuge

Neuge is a former, but extremely skilled, Keyblade wielder who first appeared in Dual Destinies. Neuge later returns in Cracks of the Past to mentor Sora. She ends up training both him and Luna after their disastrous stay at Alexander.

Tropes

  • Maternally Challenged: Although she becomes attached to her two students, Neuge isn't known for being motherly. Luna described her as more paternal.
  • The Resenter: In the last/secret chapter of Dual Destinies, it is revealed that Neuge has deep resentment towards Yen Sid. She later explained to Sora it's because Yen Sid and Eraqus abandoned her years ago.
  • Tragic Keepsake: She drinks from the same chalice that her Master drank from before he died by poison.

Colette

The mother of Stephanie and a friend of Sora, Riku, Kairi, and Luna's since Dual Destinies.

Tropes

Stephanie

Stephanie is the nine-year-old daughter of Colette. During Cracks of the Past, she stowed away onto Sora and Luna's Gummi Ship.

Tropes

  • Morality Pet: It's partly because of Stephanie that Sora did not go through with killing Desiree out of revenge.

Disney Allies

Yen Sid

King Mickey's mentor and a former Keyblade Master. Yen Sid takes on a leadership role in Radiant Garden by the end of Kingdom Hearts: Dual Destinies.

Tropes

  • The Supporting Leader: Yen Sid takes on this role for the heroes by the end of Dual Destinies. Unfortunately, he didn't do a good job at it. His decisions and secrecy ended up being met with controversy and caused Sora to quit being a Keyblade Master after the Atlantis chapters.

  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: Yen Sid admitted it himself that his choices had only alienated Sora throughout Cracks of the Past.

Final Fantasy Allies

Leon/Squall Leonhart

The protagonist of Final Fantasy VIII, he is the leader of the Radiant Garden Restoration Committee.

Tropes

  • The Alcoholic: When Leon finally returns in Paved With Gold, he was getting himself a drink.

  • Hero of Another Story: While the story focuses on Sora and the other Keyblade wielders, Leon had his own life going on in Radiant Garden to deal with. This includes his leadership arc, his relationship and marriage with Riona, and the downfall at the end of Cracks of the Past.

  • Parental Abandonment: Leon's father, Laguna, wasn't around during Leon's life. Leon had a less than positive response when Laguna did return to his life.

Cid

A pilot from Final Fantasy VII, Cid is the oldest member of the Restoration Committee.

Tropes

  • An Arm Anda Leg: By the time Neuge meets with him and the refugees during the battle for Radiant Garden, Cid had lost a leg while protecting fellow resident Shera.
  • Grumpy Old Man: Cid does not take kindly to a lot of things, especially being told that he's old. He lets Leon get a pass once in Dual Destinies.
  • Gadgeteer Genius: Cid is the technical head of the Restoration Committee, often being at his computer in Merlin's House since Kingdom Hearts.

Cloud

The blonde protagonist of Final Fantasy VII and Advent Children, Cloud Strife is victorious in his battle against Sephiroth and his darkness.

Tropes

  • The Ace: In this story, Cloud is best known for two things, fighting and disappearing. Fighting-wise, he and Stitch had to help both the heroes and the Restoration Committee defeat a Behemoth. For his disappearing act, see Hero of Another Story.
  • Hero of Another Story: Cloud wasn't with the rest of the Restoration Committee throughout the events of Paved With Gold. Turns out, he was busy searching for Laguna, the one man who could reach Squall.
  • The Lancer: Cloud might be the lancer to Squall, as evident in their investigation on KRONOS. Cloud was the one who suggested bugging Xanatos' phone and was willing to take the blame if it backfired.
  • Mythology Gag: When Riku and Cloud were handling Kairi and Aerith's purchases, Cloud mentioned that he did squats. This is a fun reference to both the squatting contest in ''Final Fantasy VII" and Zack's hobby.

Tifa

The martial artist of Final Fantasy VII and a member of the Restoration Committee.

Tropes
