The Four Students

    General
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ragtag_kids.png

  • Dwindling Party: Depending on the player's choices, characters will start to picked off one by one as per tradition of games like these.
  • A Friend in Need: Everyone involved will go out of their way to help and support one another whenever they're needed.
  • Losing the Team Spirit: If Masami dies in the incinerator, every scene afterward is much more somber and serious. Subverted if Misami is saved.
  • Ragtag Bunch of Misfits: A silly group of bickering school kids with temporary superpowers sounds like a recipe for disaster, somehow they manage.
  • Superpowers For A Day: Thanks to the Power Stone entrusted to them by Satoshi, the group of four awaken supernatural abilities and strength in similar fashion to how the original group of five got the power to fight the Girl in Red. These abilities only last when they have the stone, it's possible it can't provide power for too long.

    Satsuki Mizuhara

Satsuki Mizuhara

Voiced by: Ben
A strong-willed second year student in Kisaragi Academy Junior High, and the main protagonist of this game.

Satsuki only just transferred into Kisaragi at the start of this school year, but she seems to have connected with her peers and adjusted to her new surroundings without much trouble.

She is never lethargic, occasionally scatter-brained, and always hungry. Best friends with Yuka who usually serves as the less impulsive, more reasonable member of the duo.

  • Adaptational Protagonist: Sort of. Due to her original game never being realized, Satsuki eventually ended up amounting to a fairly major side character in Corpse Party 2U and Corpse Party: Blood Drive respectively. Now that this modern fan remake exists, Satsuki finally gets the chance to obtain the starring role of main character.
  • The Gadfly: Tends to make playful remarks often at the expense of someone else, usually being one of her friends.
  • Unable to Cry: Satsuki notes her inability to shed tears or feel as hurt as she should be feeling if Masami dies, causing her to quietly worry to herself.

    Masami Shirakami

Masami Shirakami

Voiced by: Lumisau
Another of Satsuki's classmates, and the ace of Kisaragi Academy Junior High's soccer team.

Well-known for his explosive temper, opinionated disposition, and propensity to tease; these qualities are prone to make others wary of interacting with him.

Despite this, Masami is generally respected due to his athleticism and frankness, and usually doesn't have too many issues getting along with others...apart from the occasional fistfight whenever someone makes fun of his height.

Always somehow falls victim to elaborate pranks orchestrated by Rina (his childhood friend) and Satsuki. Attempts to get back at them prove unsuccessful time and time again.

  • Ascended Extra: Applying very heavily here as Masami Shirakami had nothing more than scrapped content in a canned sequel that's largely lost media now.
  • Bad Impression: Masami attempts to sound like a pirate, playfully encouraging Satsuki to walk the plank when she's relied upon to get an item. He's able to extend this teasing to Rina in a follow up conversation with Satoshi's group if Rina was saved from falling into the goop. His attempted mimicking of a pirate is so bad that he blinks rapidly, unable to keep one eye closed.
  • Dumbass Has a Point: Masami ends up being the one to suggest smashing through the windows for a clean escape. He also directly questions why his group are the only ones being attacked while Satoshi's isn't: something the characters pretty much admit to being strange.
  • Mighty Glacier: Has the highest attack power in his party with the capability of dishing out some serious damage.
  • Murder by Cremation: Suffers the fate of being burned alive in a magic-fueled incinerator if Yuka, Satoshi, and Naomi fail to put in the proper color order on a door, unknowingly causing his demise. Subverted if they indirectly save Masami by successfully completing the puzzle.

    Rina Takahoshi

Rina Takahoshi

Voiced by: Nora Foltz
A preppy second year student at Kisaragi Academy Junior High.

She finds Satsuki's unrestrained nature to be rather entertaining and considers her worthwhile company. A veritable fashion guru, Rina often tries to get her and Yuka in on the latest trends.

She seems surprisingly articulate and mature for someone her age, although she has a tendency to radiate an air of aloofness (which can come across as pretentiousness or condescension). Most people find it difficult to tell what she is thinking about at any given moment.

She has known Masami since they both were very young. Even though the two are often seen bickering, they both care deeply for each other deep down.

  • Ascended Extra: Applying very heavily here as Rina Takahoshi had nothing more than scrapped content in a canned sequel that's largely lost media now.
  • Black Magician Girl: Gains the power to launch devastating spells alongside being able to heal her allies.
  • It's All My Fault: Rina is devastated if Masami dies, quickly putting some of the blame on herself due to the chance to help falling on her and her healing ability.
  • Mystical Plague: Undergoes a serious case of it after falling into the mysterious black goop. The effects are currently unknown but the story implies that it'll be disastrous for Rina and her body. Subverted if the player made Rina strong enough to defeat her enemies, preventing this outcome entirely.
  • Squishy Wizard: Rina brings devastating magical power, her incredible magical talents are even acknowledged directly in the story. However, she's the frailest in the group, making it very easy for physical attacking enemies to kill her if the player isn't careful.

    Kazuo Sugimura

Kazuo Sugimura

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kazuo_sugimura_screenshot.png
Voiced by: Colin Ashworth
Class 2-3's golden boy: handsome, refined, and an excellent student to top it all off.

The kind of person who's always the first to offer his jacket to someone who needs it, and is somewhat renowned amongst the girls in his grade for his gentlemanly reputation.

In truth, Kazuo personally doesn't see himself as anything particularly special. He's good friends with Masami, and generally finds himself in Rina and Satsuki's social circle.

  • Ascended Extra: Applying very heavily here as Kazuo Sugimura had nothing more than scrapped content in a canned sequel that's largely lost media now. He had the vaguest personality descriptions too, making it all the more impressive he's given a chance in the spotlight.
  • The Buffer: Kazuo's core abilities involve buffing his allies to heighten their accuracy or attack power.
  • Nice Guy: A lot of his character is centered around being a sweet guy looking out for others to the best of his ability.

The Five Survivors

    Yuka Mochida

Yuka Mochida

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/yuka_screenshot.png
Voiced by: Tianyi Skarrxin
Currently a second year student in Kisaragi Academy Junior High School.

Yuka seems and acts much younger than her age due to having been spoiled by her family. Nevertheless, she harbors a desperate desire to grow up and be more mature than she is.

She's quite meek and easily flustered, although meeting Satsuki and becoming friends with others from her class appears to have gotten her to come out of her shell a bit more.

  • The Gadfly: Playfully becomes this in response to Masami's frustrated teasing over her fear of a key while he's fighting for his life, asking if she'll be scared of holding coats next: becoming a coat hanger and all. She retorts that he should've jumped over when he had the chance then they both could've been coat hangers.
  • Hates Being Alone: Reacts very negatively to being left alone in a scary manor to the point there was a planned mechanic around it in the original game. Justified considering what she went through last time.
  • Nervous Wreck: Yuka is the one constantly worried and opposed to going inside the manor, being quick to tremble and call out for her brother.
  • Properly Paranoid: Highly opposed to exploring the mansion from the beginning, Satsuki's inability to resist the invitation forces Yuka to come along regardless.
  • Protectorate: To Satoshi and Naomi. Even Satsuki and her friends to an extent as they all worry heavily for Yuka and try to downplay the horrors the four went through.
  • Survivor's Guilt: Suffers this in spades if Masami is burned alive, she goes as far as asking why him and even the Girl in Red had to die over her.

    Satoshi Mochida

Satoshi Mochida

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/satoshi_screenshot.png
Voiced by: Rick_Rodgers
A popular second year student in Kisaragi Academy Senior High and Yuka's beloved older brother.

Satoshi is a bit timid and some would say a coward, but he would do anything for his younger sister (in fact, he got mixed up in all this after accompanying Yuka and her friends to the abandoned mansion).

He's kindhearted by nature and reliable in a pinch, qualities which naturally lend themselves to him filling the role of a leader when the situation calls for one.

He and Naomi have always had sort of a power struggle, but they've been butting heads noticeably less frequently since they began dating.

  • Impaled with Extreme Prejudice: What happens to him if the two groups fail to meet up at the Dining Hall in time. Naomi uses a stake to stab him through the heart from behind.
  • Official Couple: With Naomi, the two share loving banter time and again while making sure to keep each other safe to the best of their abilities.
  • Properly Paranoid: Satoshi knows from experience that going to the manor's a bad idea, he only joins in because he's asked to by Yuka. He wanted to use this opportunity to try and prevent possible tragedy.
  • Relationship Upgrade: The vaguely romantic dynamic between him and Naomi is finally made official in this game.
  • Seen It All: Satoshi's usually the one reassuring the other group that things'll work out as his group dealt with the supernatural before.

    Naomi Nakashima

Naomi Nakashima

Voiced by: Aylee LeSane
Satoshi's girlfriend, also a second year at Kisaragi Academy Senior High.

Generally bright and cheerful, if at times stubborn. Naomi is regarded as a tomboy, but beneath her no-nonsense attitude and forceful exterior hides a gentler side that often emerges when interacting with those younger than her.

She has known Yuka's older brother since the two were in junior high.

  • Official Couple: With Satoshi, the two finally got together after unresolved tension in the original game. Naomi has no qualms playfully instigating banter with him, comparing their involvement of just the two of them watching a bunch of kids to that of a married couple.
  • Properly Paranoid: She's the one directly urging Satoshi that going to Yayoi Manor is a terrible idea. But just like Satoshi, she comes along to watch over the kids.
  • Stern Teacher: Naomi gives the best advice she can to assist the separated group, albeit very sternly. With some of her most common advice being to just make smart choices, she does not take stupidity well.

    Ayumi Shinozaki

Ayumi Shinozaki

Voiced by: Jentacookiecat
Serves as the Horror Representative at Kisaragi Academy Senior High.

Confident and mischievous. Harnessed the power of magic to exorcise spirits. After the events of the original game, Ayumi conducted a deep dive into the occult and started a paranormal investigative club with Yoshiki Kishinuma.

  • Demoted to Extra: She only appears in the opening, offering advice and giving Satoshi a Power Stone. This is a noticeable shift from being the one who's usually first involved.
  • Occult Detective: Uses her newfound abilities for good, Ayumi's established to have exorcised several spirits over the months alongside Yoshiki.
  • Took a Level in Badass: Now existing an outcome where she isn't driven by self destructive guilt, Ayumi goes from a mostly helpless easily shaken girl into a seasoned occult master with the ability to harness supernatural energy to make her or her friends stronger.

    Yoshiki Kishinuma

Yoshiki Kishinuma

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/yoshiki_screenshot.png
Known usually as a delinquent, a second year at Kisaragi Academy Senior High.

Crass and blunt, but secretly cares deeply for his peers. After the events of the original game, Yoshiki took up kendo and co-founded a paranormal investigative club with Ayumi Shinozaki.

  • Demoted to Extra: He only appears in the opening sharing banter with Ayumi. Neither of the two are apart of the main group going inside Yayoi Manor.
  • Occult Detective: Becomes this with Ayumi after the first game, he's able to cover her weaknesses effectively enough.
  • Sword Wielder: Serving as a homage to the popular fan game Corpse Party If, Yoshiki's spent a lot of time in the kendo club mastering the use of a katana. Sayako's even teaching him still in this continuity without any tragic sacrifices.

Yayoi Manor

    Magari Mizuki

Magari Mizuki

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/magari_posed_up.png
Voiced by: RubyJCat
The main antagonist of this game. Has a doll-like appearance but is incredibly vile. Uses her looks to manipulate people. Extremely intelligent and serves as head of the Martuba’s Tomb cult.

  • Breakout Villain: For the first time in her character concept, Magari Mizuki gets to serve as a prominent opposing force to the protagonists in this different continuity. Upgrading from a villainous ally left unchecked due to worse villains overtaking her spotlight into a proper main antagonist.
