So, genetic memory or something, huh? That's some plot device you got there, kid. Also, your memory-self was a dude with a thing for the chick Vivio is a clone of? Crew to battlestations! All hands prepare for extreme Les Yay!

You are watching a Nanoha anime. Why were you surprised that something like this was going on? Heterosexual relationships in Nanoha tend to stay in the background and be forgotten.

Especially since it focuses on loli Vivio instead of Final Boss Form Adult Vivio

It's just Adult Mode Vivio. Final Boss Adult Vivio is Sank Kaiser Mode Vivio. This distinction is important later on.

Final thought: what the hell kind of nickname is "Chris" for "Sacred Heart"?

Sacred Heart is pronounced "Seikuriidu Haato", take the "Ku" and "ri" syllables, add a "su" syllable and you get "Kurisu" which is Cris.

And now you know.

Much to my lament.

We are talking about a series with a grand total of two(?) canon het ships.

Shiro/Momoko, Lindy/Clyde (in the backstory), Chrono/Amy, and arguably Kyouya/Shinobu and Thoma/Lily...

[up] Kyouya/Shinobu are actually canon, though I'm forgetting the details that dispute, but in Triangle Heart 3, where the Takamachi Family and Chrono debuted in, Shinobu was the winning girl/

[up][up]Is Caro/Erio canon too, I'm not sure since I haven't yet read Vivid fully.

[up]As of Force, I'd say it's about as canon as Thoma x Lily is. So, a good bit of Ship Tease and they almost always appear together, but not quite to the level of being an Official Couple.

[up][up]TH 3, I'm told, also gives a lot of inertia to Nanoha/Chrono....

You know, if Erio/ Caro is canon, the legislation/ marriage ceremony would be... a little awkward.

Hoki Since: Nov, 2011
#9686: Nov 20th 2015 at 6:24:14 PM

Not really. Lindy is actually Erio's legal guardian, while Caro is Fate's first adopted child. In essence, Erio and Caro are Kissing Cousins.

Yeah, that's what I meant. Since, by that, technically, Erio is, well, Caro's uncle. Not by blood, see, but in Nanoha's home, that would raise some eyebrows.

Wait, it's not the other way around? For what I remember, Caro is the one got adopted by Lindy, not Erio.

Actually, Nanoha 's home is probably one of the places where it would raise the fewest eyebrows.

But honestly, as much as Erio and Caro get shipped together by the fans, there's also more than sufficient room to interpret their dynamic as being more Like Brother and Sister. (especially given the thing with Erio being a "height vampire" [lol])...

The bigger difference between adult mode Vivio and her Sankt Kaiser mode is the colour of her barrier jacket (white and black, respectively). The other difference is that the latter has claws. Not sure if there are any other differences.

Not really, just thought it was worth commenting on. That said, Nanoha isn't so much "Het Is Ew" as it is "Yay lesbians!". There aren't even any Yaoi Guys. All the male characters get het ships (except Yuuno, who remains forever alone in order to keep Nanoha/Yuuno on life support).

It's just Adult Mode Vivio. Final Boss Adult Vivio is Sank Kaiser Mode Vivio. This distinction is important later on.
The lack of Gratuitous German means that it's less powerful. Naturally. I should've figured that on my own.

Anyone, on to episode three!

Hey, Tea and Subaru do have Unlimited Wardrobe. Nice.

Does anyone else get a serious Saber vibe from Ancient Belkan Memory Vivio? I've never even watched Fate/Stay anything and that's all that comes to mind whenever she shows up.

Man, Einhart's kind of a bitch. "Yeah, this chick's totally the Saint Kaiser, but I sucker punched her once, so screw her I'm outta here". (Didn't Einhart cheat, anyway? Nove said no blasting, but Einhart seemed to use a palm-blast rather than an actual physical strike to send Vivio flying.)

Vivio truly understands proper Takamachi befriending methods. She mentions beating Einhart's life story out of her in one breath, and in the next is making plans for once they've become friends.

Vivio vs Einhart rematch: [Vivio] To show how serious I am, I'm going to turn into an adult so I can beat up a little girl. [Einhart] You need a device to do your transformation sequence? Pft, amateur. [Vivio] I WILL BEFRIEND YOUR FACE IN. [Einhart] I don't actually know what "no spells" means. *Finishing Move spell* [Vivio] You have fallen for my unbeatable reverse befriending gambit, wherein I make you my friend by getting beaten up by you instead of by beating you up! [Einhart] You are not the Saint Kaiser that the Hegemon wants to befriend. However, I totally want your body.

Apparently it's spring of the year 0079? New headcanon: elsewhere in the Nanoha multiverse, on a non-administered world where newly-developed human-operated Gadgets called "mobile suits" are changing the face of warfare, the TSAB secretly intervenes in a conflict that would otherwise reduce the planet to a smouldering ruin by finding those with latent magical talent and awakening their abilities, disguising them as the a new type of humanity whose rise was predicted by a local prophet decades earlier. Nearly 15 years later, after multiple world-ending threats have been defeated largely due to the influence of a single wildly-successful TSAB-influenced local and the major faction threatening the safety of the world has been defeated once and for all, said local is covertly extracted from a seemingly-lethal situation and formally recruited by the TSAB.

...BRB, writing Gundam/Nanoha crossover fic featuring a post-CCA Amuro being taken to Mid-Childa and trained as a proper combat mage without the newtype mysticism nonsense or needing to be in a Humongous Mecha to use his powers.

Yeah, that's what I meant. Since, by that, technically, Erio is, well, Caro's uncle. Not by blood, see, but in Nanoha's home, that would raise some eyebrows.

I'm not sure why Nanoha should be concerned about how Fate's children should go on with their relationship.

Wait, it's not the other way around? For what I remember, Caro is the one got adopted by Lindy, not Erio.]

Nope, Erio met Fate first when he was still an angsty little boy (with justified reasons) in which Fate had calmed him down (er...not in that way) and decided to take him in. Since Fate was too young that time, the legalities and such of adopting Erio fell to Lindy.

I have to admit, the "sucker punching the clone of my past life's love interest and walking away because screw this" bit was funny. Also "no blasting" means no shooting magic and since almost everyone in Vivid is a martial artist/melee fighter with their attacks infused with magic rather than outright shooting stuff a la Hadoken, no rules were broken.

Vivio truly understands proper Takamachi befriending methods. She mentions beating Einhart's life story out of her in one breath, and in the next is making plans for once they've become friends.

Well. yeah. Her mom made friends that way, so it's only proper she learn these things. Okay, sure she has "regular" friends, but if you want to be a "special" friend of a Takamachi, you gotta undergo trial by fire.

[Einhart] You are not the Saint Kaiser that the Hegemon wants to befriend. However, I totally want your body.

Einhart thinks of it as simply continuing where her ancestors had left off.

Does anyone else get a serious Saber vibe from Ancient Belkan Memory Vivio? I've never even watched Fate/Stay anything and that's all that comes to mind whenever she shows up.

How do you even know what kind of vibe Saber has if you have not watched Fate/Stay night? I'll just assume you played the game and leave it at that.

[up][up]Fate and Nanoha shouldn't be to concerned. However, that's pretty much a ripe picking for any crack writer want to create some cheap laugh. Like me.

I, for once, created a snippet where Fate and Megane duking it out, because they take sides during Lutecia/ Caro spat, that depicted in that doujin. (Doujin name: A's Nano.)

Speaking of, I just checked ffnet.

I am shocked and apalled that there aren't ANY registered MGLN x Gundam UC fics on the site. Hell, there are only three Gundam crossovers period! One with AGE, one with 00, and a G Gundam crossover that I wrote!

Why, Internet?! WHY is there not a wealth of Amuro x Nanoha material for me to peruse, d'aaww, lol, and awe at?!

Because, maybe, many believes that, as a rule of thumb, you can't really makes UC Universe happier place even if you flooded the entire galaxy with kittens, puppies, and chocolates. That's... not very conductive for crossover with Nanoha's universe. Also, massive use of physical weapon.

Granted, someone trying to cross it with AGE, but still....

FYI, that's the Mid-Childan New Calendar, which is only applied for anyone not from Earth. For it's relation to our Anno Domini, go here for details.

For the second fight, Nove actually says "no spells" (at least according to the subs I have) rather than "no blasting" like the first fight. But yeah, I get that she's not honestly supposed to have cheated in-universe, I just find the idea of her blatantly violating the rules of a practice match and no one caring to be more amusing.

How do you even know what kind of vibe Saber has if you have not watched Fate/Stay night?
Yeah, Popcultural Osmosis, like Eva Unit 01 said. I know what Saber looks like even without seeing any of the media she's in. (And I was really just referring to the similarity of their character designs — I have no idea if Saber acts like Ancient Belkan Memory Vivio or not.)

Amuro: "This Nu Gundam isn't just for show!"
Man, what would Amuro's Nanohaverse power set even be? All his mecha are basically Lightning Bruisers with a good mix of melee and ranged capability, so he doesn't really lend himself to a particular style like Nanoha's Long-Range Fighter, Fate's Fragile Speedster, Yuuno's Barrier Warrior, Hayate's Squishy Wizard, Subaru's Close-Range Combatant, etc. His piloting style is basically "tricky bastard" — he's a shameless Combat Pragmatist who uses the equipment at his disposal in unconventional ways in order to catch his opponents off guard. Hell, what would his device be, for that matter?

This bears further thought.

Why, Internet?! WHY is there not a wealth of Amuro x Nanoha material for me to peruse, d'aaww, lol, and awe at?!
I don't really see Amuro x Nanoha being a thing, even if Fate wasn't in the picture. Amuro's rather surly even after his character development kicks in, and I don't think he'd be attracted to someone as relentlessly cheerful as Nanoha (or that Nanoha would be attracted to someone as grumpy as Amuro, for that matter). Honestly, out of the whole cast, I see Amuro x Vita working best personality-wise (Vita's Sergeant Rock "I'm just here to break shit" attitude and Amuro's Knight in Sour Armor "the world sucks but that's no reason not to try to improve it" mindset certainly compliment each other), but the whole "eternal loli" thing causes problems for shipping purposes. I could see him hooking up with Signum for a comfortable if not exactly passionate relationship (they're a pair of Old Soldiers who can enjoy each other's company even while understanding and accepting that one or both of them could be called away by their duties and possibly killed without warning) and ending up as Platonic Life-Partners with Vita.

...man, an Amuro/Vita tag team would wreck everybody's shit.

Because, maybe, many believes that, as a rule of thumb, you can't really makes UC Universe happier place even if you flooded the entire galaxy with kittens, puppies, and chocolates. That's... not very conductive for crossover with Nanoha's universe. Also, massive use of physical weapon.
The only real fundamental difference between Gundam and Nanoha is that Gundam is Anyone Can Die while Nanoha is Everybody Lives (mostly. *pours one out for Zest*). They both have potentially-world-ending threats popping up every few years, which can only be countered by the protagonists du jour. And really, the main difference there is that Nanoha fights with magic, which means it's exactly as lethal as they want it to be, while Gundam fights with Minovsky Physics, which means people actually die when they get hit with particle beams bigger than they are.

I was actually going with Amuro LITERALLY using the actual Nu Gundam, for the record.

As for his MGLN-type fighting style, though, I'd probably take it as a mix of Signum's, Nanoha's, and Chrono's.

I don't really see Amuro x Nanoha being a thing, even if Fate wasn't in the picture. I acknowledge your argument, and I respond with Beltochika. ...which could potentially be interpreted as suggestive for Teana.

And, like, I'll admit. Partly, I'm just in it for the meta. I mean, White Devil shipping FTW, right?
