Locked Pages: Lock, UnLock and Edit requests

Go To

This thread is for requesting edits or unlocks to Locked Pages or for requesting locks. It can also be used for technical requests to moderators such as:

  • creating new pages in the Main/ and other restricted namespaces without going through Trope Launch Pad
  • moving discussion pages
  • moving reviews

Please keep the following guidelines in mind:

  1. Check Locked Pages and Permanent Red Link Club first. They can provide guidance on what are good and bad requests.
  2. Include working links in your request to the page(s) in question.
  3. If asking for edits, state your changes exactly as they should appear on the page, including proper Example Indentation, namespacing, and pothole and quote formatting. And make sure that what you want to add is actually a valid example.
  4. We do not edit archived articles, even to correct links.
  5. If you need to have the capitalization of a page title or namespace of a work fixed, ask here.
  6. If you need to remove a ghost wick, go here.
  7. To request a page to be moved along with its history, go here.
  8. Some locked pages have ongoing cleanup threads, like Complete Monster (Thread), Five-Man Band (Thread), and Magnificent Bastard (Thread). Other than purely technical requests, edits to these pages ought to be discussed in these threads first.
  9. Also, we do not do direct edits (other than changing wicks) to Magnificent Bastard or Complete Monster example lists. Rather, you need to do the edit to a sandbox page that follows the format Sandbox.Magnificent Bastard<Name of the example subpage> and Sandbox.Monster<Name of the example subpage> (e.g for Monster.Disney it's Sandbox.Monster Disney) and ask for it to be swapped in on Saturday for Magnificent Bastard and on Monday for Complete Monster.
  10. Inappropriate pages that keep being recreated, pages banned under The Content Policy and subpages that are disallowed (like Headscratchers pages for tropes) are valid reasons for requesting page locks.

NOTE: Edited with OP's permission.

For some reason, The Beautiful People is a locked, empty page, despite having 352 inbounds. Could it be made a redirect to The Beautiful Elite?

(While I'm at it, there's a link to The Beautiful People somewhere on CthulhuTech, which is also locked.)

And it has the discussion and subpages. Clearly a badly done rename.

No, the rename was done correctly. The page's cut was part of Goldstone's stupid cutlisting spree. I'll restore it.

Several new entries for Lolita:

  • Black Comedy: The blackest.
  • Chick Magnet: Humbert, according to himself. It's a source of some irritation, given that he isn't all that interested in grown women.
  • Domestic Abuse: Humbert hits his first wife after she tells him she wants to leave him. He cheerfully admits that he would have gone much further if he'd managed to get her alone after that.
  • Gratuitous French: Thanks to a combination of several years in Paris and his own colossal pretentiousness, Humbert tends to litter the story with this.
  • Insistent Terminology: Humbert is not attracted to children, but nymphets. It's made abundantly clear that the distinction exists only within his own head.

Request an addendum to the Real Life section of Moral Guardians, Newspapers heading, last example to read:

The Daily Mail has also spearheaded a campaign to "Ban Internet Porn", restricting "porn" at the ISP level but not actually specifying exactly what they want to ban other than implying that all porn is extreme, underage or bestiality and watching porn turns you into a pedophile serial killer. Of course, browsers should still display their site's galleries of scantily-dressed young women.

Feel free to remove any POV sentiments, this one's making headline news though.

Requesting an addition to the Mass Effect Fridge page, under Fridge Brilliance part 4. Each of Liara's parents specialize in one of her trademark biotic powers. When you fought Benezia in the first game, she and her commandos would constantly use Stasis on you (to annoying effect), which became Liara's loyalty power in 2 and 3. Aethyta, on the other hand, threatens Conrad Verner with a Singularity when he tries to lock down her bar in 2. We never see her actually use it, but it does indicate that she's at least familiar with that ability.

Can the mention of Morrigan being the page image in the Horny Devils Darkstalkers example and description be deleted? She's not the page image any more.

The real life section of Moral Guardians has a few redlinks that need to be fixed. In film, there are three links to works we don't have pages for (Nine Songs, Anatomy Of Hell, and Ken Park). In music, there are links to La Vey, and La Veyan, that are most likely just accidental links due to CamelCase. In tabletop games, there is and accidental redlink to M Ps, and finally, there is a link to John Calvin, who we don't have a page on in the theatre section.

Bigotry will NEVER be welcome on TV Tropes.

For Inheritance Cycle, could we add:
The Worf Effect: Islanzadi, an established badass, is killed without significant effort by Barst.
You can rephrase that if you want.

[up][up][up]Nine Songs is up for review; it was part of a batch of early cuts before the P5 got organized. It may or may not be coming back.

ETA: in fact, on the P5 voting page, it has three angels, so it's definitely coming back. Anatomy Of Hell is also the subject of a restoration petition.

For The Fundamentalist we have a request to change including atheists under the label.

Atheism is given this attribution in various instances when extreme skepticism is employed against the supernatural or religious beliefs, but most instances in fiction can fall under the tropes Flat Earth Atheist, Agent Scully and Hollywood Atheist.

Also for The Fundamentalist, there is a High Octane Nightmare Fuel link in the Literature section (Honor Harrington entry) that needs to be removed.

On the main page for Troll, one of the trope examples under Litterature, Edgar Allan Poe's The Narrative of Arthur Gordon Pym of Nantucket, doesn't have its name linked to the work's page. I think it'd be nice if it was.

Under The Inheritance Cycle Worf Effect, that's a spoiler and the name of the character who dies should be spoilered out.

Rhymes with "Protracted."

My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic is the Trope Namer for Party Of One; it'd be nice if the page could be updated to reflect this.

Instead of making a new header for it, I'd probably remove "Partial" from the existing header, and add a hottip to 20% More Awesome's entry that while the phrase is actually 20% Cooler, that could have alternate meanings that wouldn't fit the trope.
