Why not make threads similar to the Complete Monster Cleanup tread instead of removing them utterly? It doesn't have to be as draconian as the CM thread.

Perhaps a Just for Fun page is in order.

The problem is, I'm taking part in dewicking it recently, and all uses I ever see in wicks are:

• In-universe Sex God / Pornomancer / Chick Magnet
• what I YKTTW'd as Sex God Upgrade
• "X is very sexy"
• "X has a lot of fans who think X is very sexy"
• "X is shipped with a lot of characters"
• "Y thinks X is very sexy"
• ZCE

I literally haven't yet seen a valid example of this "trope". I just don't see anything to fix.

What exactly would be on this Just for Fun page? That is the question. To me it just sounds like Fetish Fuel v2.0, to be frank.

Alright, I'll try with an example on how it could be.

"I'd like to add Sexy Bowser from Mario Party 3 in the Let's Play or Video Game entry. This meme was coined by The Runaway Guys during their Mario Party 3 playthrough where Bowser would sometimes lay in a suggestive pose at his Bowser Space encounters. He was instantly dubbed as Sexy Bowser at the first example and they Guys even played a Ho Yay or Foe Yay relationship between him and Jon's character Waluigi who for some reason got most Bowser moments. They played this theme throughout their let's play and it's been cross referenced to their social media pages on Facebook and Twitter and people still keep pointing this out on Youtube videos of Mario Party."

Description: "Let's Play: The Runaway Guys: Sexy Bowser from Mario Party 3 for occasionally laying in a suggestive pose during his Bowser Space encounters."

"Video Game: Mario Party: Sexy Bowser from the third game for occasionally lying in a suggestive during his Bowser Space encounters. This was coined by The Runaway Guys during their let's play of Mario Party 3."

Okay, that's a good example, thanks. But let's analyze it.

I haven't watched the Let's Play in question, so correct me if I'm wrong. But as you describe it, they just called him "sexy" (ironically) because he was depicted in a humorous sexy pose, and then shipped him with another character. So what we've got here is:

1. A supposedly non-sexy character is treated like Mr. Fanservice
2. A character is ironically shipped with another character

None of these fits the description of Memetic Sex God.

However, maybe "non-sexy character is treated like Mr. Fanservice for laughs" could be possibly tropeable, if there are more examples of that. By the way, it looks like Bowser was already treated like that in the game itself, the Runaway Guys just amped it Up To Eleven.

The first example starts at 9:22 here. Yes, they did play it up and the shipping was in-universe, but it toned down after a while during the let's play as other characters also got Bowser. Thanks to the playthrough, images of Bowser appeared on people's Cover-photos and on Runawayguys-fanpages on Facebook and Tumblr, either unedited or with caption saying "Draw me like one of your french girls (or) koopas" and fanart on Deviantart. Forgive me for not digging examples through Google,I hope you understand.

But anyway, references to this spread on the internet and this is what internet memes are about.

For the Sex God Upgrade thing (from the old Memetic Sex God page that were actual memetic mutations amongst the fanbases) I'd like to recommend these ones thus far:

• "Norio Wakamoto can make a woman orgasm from just his voice alone" - Anonymous.
  • And you'll get a big traffic jam gathering girls which wanted their Oppai hailed by Emperor Norio Wakamoto.

• For a franchise that has its roots in Bishoujo Eroge, Fate/stay night and its various spinoffs has a surprising amount of male examples of this trope. The most famous ones include (but are not limited to):
  • Archer, whose sheer badassery actually invented the word GAR, which in itself is a misspelling of the word gay, as in gay for Archer.
  • Lancer, for wearing a skintight body suit that gives us a good look on his famous Gay Bulge. It doesn't hurt that he is considered to be just as badass as Archer, or even more so.
  • Fate Zero's Lancer, also clad in tights and with a mole that apparently works on both female AND male viewers. Bonus points for making the above mentioned sex god comment on his beauty in actual canon.

—>Stay Night's Lancer (before battling Zero Lancer): Yo, iro otoko^note lit. "man with sex appeal", wanna have a go at it? —>Stay Night's Lancer (after winning against Zero Lancer): You're an even more beautiful and skilled young warrior than the rumors say.

• Gilgamesh, thanks to of his A+ Charisma, looks that other characters describe as those of a super model, and his willingness to show off his naked body. That last part seems to have become something of a Running Gag in recent TYPE-MOON works.
• Kotomine Kirei. Admit it, you'd go to church every Sunday just to listen to his delicious voice and rest your eyes on his fabulous mullet.
• For whatever reason, the fandom has decided that Waver Velvet is the best TYPE-MOON heroine, gender be damned, and needs an eroge game wherein he is every romance option.
• Hakuno Kishinami, especially the female one. Her charm works even on emotionless AI. Actually it even works on freakin' Gilgamesh.

• Tony Stark. Wizard once published... uhhm... let's call it a "frak-chart" that showed the reach of Stark's penis (going with the theory that if you sleep with someone you've slept with everyone they've ever slept with). It went up to Galactus. Here's the image.◊ According to the chart, Stark has had 9 sexual partners, only 2 of which have connections to all those other characters (including Galactus). Seems like we should really be impressed with Black Widow and The Wasp here. After the Marvel / Disney merger, jokes abounded that Stark would have his way with each and every one of the princesses.
  • Nevermind, it happened already. He especially has eyes for Jasmine.

I've also seen at least one instance of a character's name being Pot Holed to point to MSG for no visible reason whatsoever.

"Yup. That tasted purple."

So it seems like a quote by Runaway Guys has been turned into an in-joke or meme by their fans. That's cool, that's an example of Memetic Mutation (a quote becoming a meme). However, it's still not Memetic Sex God because "character acting in a seductive way" is not Sex God.

Honestly, you could salvage a lot from the Memetic Sex God history. While there were a lot of Zero Content Examples, many of the ones that weren't were pretty decently explained and thought out.

They aren't YKTTWing this trope. They're doing one of the ways this was misused.

Nuked the last 700 wicks. The only examples remaining are some locked pages (have requested they be cut) and archives, and several ghost wicks. GUAE Re Education Facility has an example that is entirely defined as being a Memetic Sex God (Jecht from Final Fantasy VIII). Should that be rewritten to another trope or just cut entirely? Is there also consensus to make this a disambiguation?

Regarding GUAE Re Education Facility and Support Powers, you can ask in the Pantheons thread in Forum Games.

I've fixed a few ghost wicks. Take note, sometimes to remove a ghost wick you need to add and then remove a wick (I used Main Page) to force the server to update the wick table. I've cutlisted some other pages.

Sorting Algorithm of Face-Heel Turning and Trope Names for a Band need also resolution.

No opinion on cut vs. disambiguation.

Regarding the latter, it can probably be removed just like that. In regards to the former, we tried to discuss a trope change, but we need to discuss about it more. Though the pothole can be erased for now since it was erased from other places.

Also, Jecht is from Final Fantasy X.

I personally like the current disambig, maybe as a temporary measure though. It might help people who grew accustomed to various kinds of misuse of this trope, so the can get used to the actual tropes with those meanings. Maybe ~half a year later it can be cut altogether. But that's just my 2 cents.

Not counting the ghost wick I just cutlisted or the disambig index, we are now down to single digits in wicks! Not sure how to handle the Archive pages (namely the Ad of Win and Made of Win pages). Do we leave it as is?

Also, cutting is out of the question at the moment; when looking at the wick list, I noticed there was a pretty high inbounds count...

Edit: And found another ghost wick. It is cutlisted now.
