This is the WMG page for Super Mario Bros. Z. Theories have been divided into the original run and the reboot.

    The Original Series (2006)

As of Episode 8, all seven of the Chaos Emeralds are in the same place.

That place being Bowser's Doomship. Consider these:

  • Stuffwell is holding onto five of them for Mario and company (as he did in Episode 7).
  • Bowser makes it pretty clear in Episode 8 that the Sky Pop shouldn't be able to avoid his laser cannon as easily as it is; in addition, E. Gadd mentioned that he made upgrades to the plane earlier in the episode.
  • Lastly, it is implied that Mecha Mario is stronger than Basilisx by Bowser when he mentions in passing to Peach that he didn't get to use his secret weapon (plus, if Basilisx was indeed the stronger of the two, why save Mecha Mario for later?). Since Eggman is in on the project, he most likely used a Chaos Emerald as a power source to make Mecha Mario stronger.
It is worth noting that the Word of God states that the Mecha Sonic storyline will last for fifteen episodes; this theory allows the storyline to run smoothly to its end within that allotted episode limit.
  • Jossed; the Ep.9 clip shows Shadow has tracked the sixth one to a desert.

It really isn't too late for Mobius.

Eggman obviously survived. My theory? The "Word of God" that mobius is gone is a lie to hide the real ending. However...

Sonic and Shadow did see everyone dead. Why? Because they were! Eggman is actually an alternate from a universe where nobody except Sonic and Shadow died in Mecha Sonic's attack; Sonic does a heroic sacrifice to take out Mecha Sonic and Shadow teleports that universe's emeralds to an empty void universe or the realm beyond existence.

Thus, when the series ends, Sonic and Shadow will have a new home.

  • Alternatively, the alternate universe part is correct and the other versions of Knuckles, Tails, etc. survived there, but so did Sonic and Shadow. The Sonic and Shadow that ended up in the Mushroom Kingdom will stay as stated by Word of God.

Possible Super Mode abilities for the characters:

It's not too late for Mobius.
The combination of the Chaos Emeralds, the Super Emeralds, and the Star Spirits will let Sonic and Shadow restore it (like the Dragon Balls do in Dragon Ball Z). That will be the last part of the series.
  • Jossed, Word of God confirmed that Mobius was done for and Sonic and Shadow would end up living in the Mushroom Kingdom.
    • Well, fuck.

The effects of powerups map to the world from which the user comes.
Note that when Sonic uses the super star, it turns him into his most powerful form, Super Sonic. If he were to try other powerups, they would have effects corresponding to powerups from his own world:
  • Coins: Rings
  • Fire Flower: Fire shield
  • Frog Suit: Bubble shield
  • Mushroom: Speed shoes (Maps to their Mario Kart function)
    • SemiJossed: Episode 8 has Sonic use a Fire Flower to turn into a red version of his Super Mode, called Fire Sonic in the credits. He is able to turn into a fireball, but also throws them, which the Fire Shield can't.

Sonic can now survive one death via Auto-Revive.
Notice that when he was fighting, he beat several Koopatrols in succession, enough to get the famous 1-up tone. If he's killed, it will activate and bring him back. Being Taken for Granite by Basilisx doesn't count as a death unless he's shattered (like in some versions of Final Fantasy).
  • Calling it right now: Sonic is killed in a fight, possibly with Eggman, but comes back to life and either: A: Makes an escape or B: Finds newfound Heroic Resolve and beats his enemy to a pulp.

Peach will get a Big Damn Heroes moment.
The beginning shows Twink (from Paper Mario) floating next to Peach. Since the series happens a few years after Paper Mario, as stated by Red Ninjakoopa, Twink's had a little time to grow up. He will see the team in danger and power Peach up into Super Peach long enough to help them turn the tide or escape. It's not without precedent - see Super Princess Peach (Rage mode) and SMB Super Show.
  • If this happens... It'll be Peach's coolest CMOA to date!!!

Axem Ranger Red will undergo a Heel–Face Turn.
When Mecha Sonic destroyed all the Axem Rangers, Red was the only one we never saw in pieces - he got hit with an energy blast, and flew off screen. As the strongest Axem Ranger, he is very possibly strong enough to survive it. Of course, by the rules of Dragon Ball Z, a former enemy who has fallen victim to the Sorting Algorithm of Evil must realize that Defeat Means Friendship.
  • If you watch that scene again, we never saw Red "in pieces" because he was outright vaporized by Mecha Sonic's Kamehame Hadoken.

Robo Mario will kill Mecha Sonic
Think about it. SMBZ has plot based on Cell Saga with Sonic as a Trunks, which mean that Mecha Sonic is C-17 and C-18. So Robo Mario is Cell - after Mecha Sonic will be defeated, Robo Mario will kill him and take all his power, turning into even stronger being. Alternative, Mecha Sonic will kill Robo Mario and take his power to become even stronger than before.
  • This troper's calling the second one. If Mecha Sonic has assimilated robots in the past, then there's nothing stopping him from doing the same now. Also, in Alvin's other projects like the Spoiler Opening and the Beat Up Sandbag Newgrounds collaboration, there seems to be a sprite of an upgraded Mecha Sonic with suspiciously Mecha Mario-like parts.

Mecha Sonic wants to live
He's true goal isn't ultimate power - he just want's to be real animal. By becoming complete he means not becoming invincible, but gain a soul. Every time he absorbs the powers of Chaos Emeralds he not only get's stronger, but also evolves one step from machine to living being. In retrospection from Mobius, we never saw him talking, and before 6th episode every time we heard his voice, it's sound mechanical and indistinct. After he absorbed power from 4 emeralds, he's voice changed to more human. Also, he becomes more intelligent - before he first time tried to take Emerald's power on Mobius, he was rampage berserk who was killing everything in his way. If Shadow hadn't interrupted, he would become real person back then, but has to use most of the power he already absorbed for travel to the Mushroom Kingdom. However he still gets enough to become more intelligent and realize that there's no reason for killing everything and draw unnecessary attention, when he can just wait for somebody to finds Emeralds, and then take them.
  • That makes slight sense, but we have to remember that Mecha Sonic originated from Metal Sonic. If the Chaos Emeralds gave him a soul, why not do it as Metal Sonic? Why go through all this killing in the first place?
    • Everyone needs a hobby.
      • He could just be trying to prove his superiority to Sonic like he always has been. You know, "I am the real Sonic" and all that.

Bowser will have an Enemy Mine moment with Mario.
Hey, Bowser has teamed up with his archnemesis more than once. Why shouldn't it be any different here? A possible scenario could be Mecha Sonic about to kill Mario then Bowser pops out of nowhere and attacking him saying "NOBODY POUNDS MARIO INTO THE GROUND BUT ME!!!".

Eggman is dead, and the man helping Bowser is Eggman Nega.
There is no reason for Alvin to hide Eggman's identity anymore... Except if he isn't Eggman. It's Nega, and he plans on taking the Chaos Emeralds and use them against Blaze in his own universe.
  • FOOL!!! You've fallen into Alvin's metal trap! That's what Alvin wants us to think. And this WMG is the fact he hasn't outed Eggman yet.

Shadow will Take a Level in Badass, make a Big Damn Heroes moment and defeat Basilisx in episode 9.
  • This version of Shadow is based on Vegeta. It will happen soon.
    • So by that logic, Basilisx is Android 19. Huh.....
"Let me ask you, does a Koopa like yourself ever experience fear?"
    • Shadow doing a Big Damn Heroes I can see, but I don't think it's possible for Shadow to become any more badass then the man already is.
      • So? Alvin has already done the impossible once, so what's to stop him from doing so again?
      • This Troper thinks this is likely, however he believes the twist to such will be from Shadow finding an Ice Flower, playing on how he and Sonic are both the same yet opposite.
  • Jossed as the Ep. 9 clip shows Luigi saving Mario, while Shadow is facing Mecha Sonic

Wario and Waluigi will end up playing a bigger part in the plot then just being a Goldfish Poop Gang
Now the question is... What will that role end up being?
  • The reason Mecha Sonic ends up with all seven Chaos Emeralds?
  • Taking a Level in Badass and taking the gang's Emeralds?
  • C-List Fodder for Mecha Sonic?
  • WM Ging Fuel?
  • Two or more of the above?
    • Dude, they should totally be the Main Villains of the next arc!
Luigi will eventually end up going insane and trying to kill everyone from constantly being the Butt-Monkey all the time
  • A man can only take so much, you know. You just know that sooner or later, Luigi's FINALLY gonna lose it. At that point, it'll be safe to say that the universe is gonna regret treating Luigi like crap.
    • This can only happen if Mecha Sonic is the final straw for Luigi. Leading into the Man in Green killing the Robot once and for all.
    • And then turnign his attention to his "friends". A combination of Who's Laughing Now? AND a slight What the Hell, Hero? would make for an amzing twist. like I said, a man can only take so much.
      • But this is Luigi we're talking about. If he was going to snap from all the shit he's taken in his life, he would have done so from being forever stuck in his Brother's shadow. And I can't see him killing Mario.
      • Hmm, wasn't there some sort of Mechanical Mario somewhere? Picture this: Left behind as usual, Luigi catches up to the group just in time to see every other character lying defeated at the hands of MM. As Mario and the others tell him to run, believing him too weak to fight Mecha Mario and the robot itself mocks him, Luigi finally decides that enough is enough and, fueled by his frustration and repressed anger at the brother this metal being resembles, he utterly destroys the creature. This of course leaves everyone confused and slightly frightened
The Battles Against Evil Will Eventually Bring In Other Nintendo/Sega Characters
Donkey Kong is the obvious one, since he's already technically in the Mario Universe... technically, though I don't know if he has a sprite that would fit the style. Among other things, however, attack from aliens like Tatanga may bring the attentions of Kirby and Samus, Eggman/Robotnik will unleash a new robot, which will turn out to be Vectorman, who joins the heroes, etc.
  • Well, if it's based on DBZ, Oozaru has yet to make an appearance, so DK might fit in.

Luigi will break out of the statue due to his Tanooki suit.
While stuck right now, through force of will he will break out and smack the captain just in time.
  • While the series is officially cancelled, leftover animation confirms that Luigi saves Mario.

Basilisx is Robo Mario
Let's face it-after his last Evil Knockoff destroyed his home planet, Eggman building another one seems like an Idiot Ball...but he himself realized that.

So, when he came to the Mushroom Kingdom and was contracted by Bowser to build one of Mario, he realized that not creating one with organic emotions was a fool's errand, so he transplanted Basilisx's brain into it. In order to disguise this, he was also given his old armor, and told not to use his weapons beyond the Wolverine Claws until absolutely necessary.

This means that if Shadow comes along, he's in for a suprise...

Basilisx: You know, I never really liked the concept of Deussss Ex Machina. Beyond that which relatessss to me, obviousssssly.
  • Nope. In episode 8, Bowser says that Basilisx's strength is the result of another one of Eggman's experiments involving needles. He also says "Too bad now I don't have anything to sic my secret weapon on anymore" referring to robot Mario.

Shadow's gonna die
Think about it. He's brash, Rogue Rouge's death has clouded his judgment, and now he's run off somewhere, so much that he isn't even seen for the majority of episode 8. He'll probably come back at some point (Bus Crash hardly seems to be a fitting end for such an important character), but what with Shadow's new personality and the events of the series so far, I'm writing his epitaph.

This all takes place just after Bowser's Inside Story.
Just what it says in the title. Just after repairing his castle and healing from his fight with Dark Bowser and the Mario Bros., Bowser makes his newest attempt during the Mario Kart race in episode 1. Of course, this could mean that Fawful and Midbus could very well show up in later seasons...

Belome From SMRPG will be an antagonist.
  • Unlikely. Belome is minor class, and has no affiliation with either Wart nor Bowser.

Eggman has become a cyborg
Just like Dr. Gero. The shadows are to hide this fact.
  • Definitely. There's really no other reason not to show his face by this point other than a Robotic Reveal.
  • Jossed by Alvin's Twitter, at least for the original series. Someone brings up this theory, but Alvin just said he was being dumb and devoting so much effort to hide the secret when the only secret was the obvious identity and nothing else. The early scenes of the reboot have Eggman reveal himself fully and he has no apparent robot parts or anything. But that's not to say there can't be a similar reveal in the reboot, just with a Robotic Reveal instead of Emerging from the Shadows...

Mario didn't kill Basilisx's friend.
Eggman did, without Bowser's knowledge. Before he became a Super-Soldier, Basilisx was a perfectly normal, friendly Koopa who happened to be selected for Eggman's experiment. When his friend found out it would make him a monster, Eggman decided he knew too much. The memories of Mario doing it were planted so Basilisx would be a more determined fighter.

Mecha Mario has been secretly programmed with the task of destroying Mecha Sonic.
We all know Eggman to be a real Magnificent Bastard, right? Well, just suppose you were in his place. Your ultimate killing machine has just gone and absorbed the power of his previous designs, then turned on you and blew up your giant space station. At the last minute, you were rescued by a giant turtle-dragon thing from another dimension, who is now ordering you about to build a giant flying battleship to find the Chaos Emeralds, which your robot is also after. You'd be pretty miffed, right?

So, when Eggman got the order to build another Evil Knockoff, he probably pretended to program him to defeat the other dimension's resident hero, but in fact, he would have programmed him to destroy Mecha Sonic, the original creation, and get the Chaos Emeralds for himself. In effect, he'd be pulling off a deception of epic proportions, that can only lead to an epic showdown between the two robots, with Mario and company watching in shock. Then Eggman would try to usurp Bowser's position, except it would go wrong for some reason.

  • If that's true, he probably programmed it to destroy both the heroes and Mecha Sonic, just in case. Also, if that is the case, then we know Mecha Mario will lose because the "Title Sequence" video clearly shows the heroes and Mecha Sonic going Super Mode for the Final Battle.

Alvin-Earthworm will, at some point, pull off the GREATEST April Fool's joke ever and release a fake bad ending continuing off the current cliffhanger, perhaps leading into the REAL episode.
He is highly capable of making both epic and unexpected plot twists; what's to stop him from pulling something like the above?
  • He did make an April Fool's Joke for this, involving Luigi unleashing The World and giving Basalisx the classic Dio Brando treatment with a giant Nintendo Wii. Here it is.

Basilisx will ultimately be defeated by having his stone gaze backfire upon him
Since Basilisx has used his powers on his minions, it may become his ironic fate.
  • There was a mutant with that power, Wolverine killed him by reflecting his face on his claws. Hmmmmm....

Which of the Mario Galaxy 2 powerups will appear in Episode 9?
This is less theory and more of speculation. Alvin has said that either the Cloud Suit or the Rock Suit will appear in Episode 9. So what do you think it will be? And what will they act like.
  • Wouldn't it be ironic if basilisx gets defeated by mario in a rock suit?

We haven't seen the last of Kolorado and Goombella.
When we last saw them, they said they were on the way to Subcon to probe the mysteries of Kolorado's stopwatch. Combine that with the fact that we saw Wart in one scene from the trailer, and need I say more?

Kolorado is a Time Lord.
His watch from Episode 7 is his TARDIS.

Donkey Kong will save Mario.
Rumor has it, that the next episode will be called "Donkey Kong to the Rescue". If this is true, then either Donkey Kong will beat the apeshit out of Basilisx, or he will appear later after Mario is saved by someone else to save them from Robot Mario.
  • Jossed for episode 9, since Luigi ends up saving him...in the original run, anyways.

Characters from the Mega Man series will appear.
Just because it would transform an awesome series into a Crazy Cool one.
  • It isn't Crazy Cool already?
  • Well, yes, so Crazy Cool times infinity.

Luigi will save the day.
Luigi's put up with so much crap throughout the series. His cowardice has left him out of many fight scenes, so the other characters are probably underestimating what he can do. Mecha Sonic will do something to really piss him off, and he's get over his fears and cut loose, revealing how powerful he truly is. His fear of everything had made him unable to fight to his full potential, but overcoming them would give him the power to put a can of butthurt on Mecha Sonic and save the Mushroom Kingdom.
  • Wait... that makes sense! Mecha Sonic is supposed to be an analogue to Cell, and, so far, Luigi's managed to take the role of Krillen for sure and, arguably, Gohan... If we're going by DBZ standards here, that's right on the mark!
    • And if Luigi's potential is anything like the Mario Games... Game Over, bad guys. You may be strong, but I don't think you can stand up to anything like this final boss.
      • But wouldn't that need Dimentio to work? Check my answer to the Chaos=Buu guess below for a possibility...
    • If the roles you mentioned Luigi filling would be true, then by that logic, his love interest will be a Composite Character of Videl and 18...which I could easily see Daisy filling (especially since she hasn't really shown up at all).
    • Semi-confirmed, since had Alvin continued episode 9, we would've seen him save Mario from Basilix.

There will be a video game based on the series
After Alvin Earthworm finishes the series, Nintendo and Sega will notice the sheer awesomeness in this series and team up to ask Alvin Earthworm if they can create a game about his work. Using the style of the Dragon Ball Z Budokai Tenkaichi games following the plot of Super Mario Bros. Z.
  • If only.

The next story line will be similar another DBZ arc
The Mecha Sonic storyline is similar to the Cell arc in so many ways, so why not have the next one be similar as well. Although there is nothing stopping Alvin from adapting an arc from another anime.

Stuffwell will have an unintentional Big Damn Heroes moment.
As if Episode 8, we can assume that Stuffwell is still hiding in the Sky Pop, which is directly outside the hangar where Mario and Basilisx are fighting. My guess is that Stuffwell will accidentally press a button in the sky Pop's cockpit, causing the plane to zoom forwards into the hangar, distrating Basilisx long enough for Mario to regroup.

Mecha Mario is SMBZ's answer to Android 16
If Mecha Sonic is Cell, and his predecessors can be considered 17 and 18 (ignoring that third one...) then there's only one robot left in the Cell Saga for Mecha Mario to be a counterpart of. This is stemming from that "Luigi will save the day" guess (I'm the idiot going "Wait...that works!" below it) actually, but maybe Mecha Mario will turn out like the other not-so-evil androids of Dr. Gero's (which were intended to be evil, mind you, but failed) and reject his purpose. If the aforementioned WMG is right, and Luigi finally gets a moment to shine, then I'd wager that Mecha Mario being destroyed (instead of someone else dying) by Mecha Sonic is the last straw.

Chaos will be SMBZ's answer to Buu
Both are made of some form of jelly, and Buu takes place after Cell, so... Why not?
  • Or Dimentio. Both aren't very mentally stable, both are evil, and Dimentio has no limbs attached to his arms and legs. Plus, alot of Majin Buu's attacks could be translated into magic.
    • Both will be the answer to Buu - recall that Buu has an evil side. Dimentio would be a perfect fit for Evil Buu, while Chaos could be Good Buu.

Luigi will be captured and brainwashed
The enemies have certainly noted his Butt-Monkey status and will certainly use it at their advantage while "reprogramming" him to attack his friends, converting his frustration into rage.
  • Kinda makes sense, once you think about it... Luigi got brainwashed in Super Paper Mario...twice!
    • Assuming this plot element is brought back in the reboot, this would be a good substitute for Vegeta getting brainwashed by Babidi.

Shadow will bring Rouge back
He'll use the Chaos Emeralds.

One of the Koopa bros survived
just watch when mecha sonic destroyed yoshi island, one of the koopa bros is hidden in his shell.
  • Very unlikely. Koopa shells are not indestructible, and we even saw that Mecha Sonic can destroy a koopa shell with a simple attack, when he broke Red's shell and took the Chaos Emerald from him. If he can do that with a simple physical attack while simply passing by, I think the GIANT ORB OF FIERY DEATH spells the end for all of them, hiding in their shell or not.

Eggman will double-cross Bowser
He's clearly not happy about playing second-fiddle to Bowser, so he's going to use Mecha Mario to overthrow him.

It was Luigi that opened the Minus World, rather than the stopwatch
The basic idea of this guess is that it is Luigi's power that allowed them to escape, and the stop watch simply channeled it. Based on some of his freakier abilities, this is actually pretty plausible.
Sonic rescues Mario
He uses Heroic Willpower and the power of fire to blast himself out of the rock.
  • Jossed as the Ep. 9 clip shows Luigi saving Mario, while Shadow is facing Mecha Sonic

Going on the idea that one Koopa Brother lived...
...He'll do a massive Heel–Face Turn and sacrifice himself to save Mario from Basilix, as helping Bowser has only brought him the death of his comrades. This will allow Mario enough time to reach a Life Mushroom and kill Basilix in the most awesome way possible.

Since this is based on the DBZ Android Saga...
1. Shadow will allow Mecha Sonic to get the last Chaos Emeralds like Vegeta did with Cell and the Androids, and2. Nazo will appear as a replacement for Android 16. Alvin has already stated his respect for the Nazo Unleashed series, and since Nazo is born from Chaos Emerald energy, it's possible that, in an attempt to protect itself, the last Chaos Emerald will unleash Nazo to destroy Mecha Sonic(even though it won't work). What better way to pay tribute to NU?
  • Just one problem. Why would Shadow let his foe become stronger when he wants to flat out kill him?
  • Same reason Vegeta did: Pride. The Saiyan prince wanted to kill Cell, but also to do so when his foe was at his absolute strongest. Not his best move.
    • Except Word of God has confirmed that Mecha Sonic will get all seven Chaos emeralds anyway... and the fact that the intro shows Mario and Co. being powered up by the seven Star Spirits to fight Mecha Sonic.
    • There's also the fact that Android 16 was actually Killed Off for Real by Cell - assuming that Mecha Sonic is the series equivalent of Cell, that would mean he could defeat the series equivalent of 16.

The killed off Sonic characters are in the Underwhere/Overthere

Basically, Mecha Sonic's destruction of Mobius extended to the freaking afterlife of that world. Meaning that all the people who were killed would be shipped to the Underwhere/Overthere, leaving those in charge fighting to try and get a handle on things. Linking into this theory, A few more characters might die in the series and one or two adventures might take place in the Underwhere before Jaydes brings them back to life due to Metal Sonic or whatever villain is currently working things is causing too much trouble. This could possibly extend to some of the Sonic characters that were killed off, brought back to life as 'reinforcements' when the main party would normally be screwed. Whether there'd be a time limit or not on this is yet to be determined...

  • Even though Word of God also confirmed that Mobius's inhabitants are also screwed... Just sayin'.

SMBZ is centered around the number 7
Think about it... There are the seven Chaos Emeralds, the seven Star Spirits...

There will be a billion fan-made continuations.
Considering I'm working on one myself. I CAN'T be the only one to think of this.
  • Not that many, but there's at least a few. Here's one.

Archie's Mecha Sonic was just a stand-in for the video games' Mecha Sonic
Considering Alvin was already using the latter's sprites for Turbo Mecha Sonic, the result of Metal Sonic's Fusion Dance transformation, Alvin had to use a different robot's appearance to prevent confusion. After all, Archie's Mecha Sonic was a roboticized version of Sonic himself, and we all know that Sonic was not roboticized at all, if ever, in Alvin's version of Mobius' events, which seem to be primarily set in the games' continuity, anyway.

Had the Koopalings fight happened...
Wendy's rings that she uses would have done nothing more then powered up Sonic.

Basilisx never had a friend that Mario killed.
He's lying through his teeth. His whole backstory about his friend getting killed by Mario? Its all a lie, a clever plot cum contingency plan, even if there are holes in his story. He's banking on Mario and the gang (except Shadow of course) being such nice guys that he could feed them a fairly flimsy Freudian Excuse as to why he wants Mario dead and in the event they DO beat him somehow they'll probably feel sorry for him and try to find a way to make it up to him or get him to join their side...giving him a clear opening to finish them off when they least expect it. Sure Shadow might see through it, but 3 out of 4 ain't bad. He's probably crazy but he ain't stupid. You can't trust snakes after all.
  • So, Basilisx will become a Magnificent Bastard?
  • I think Alvin actually confirmed his friend never existed!
    • That's because the setting Basilisx describes doesn't actually happen. He says that it was the third Koopa in room two of Bowser's castle in Dinosaur Land, and that Mario stomped on him and kicked him into lava. Not only is there no lava in that room, but all the Koopas are climbing on fences and thus can't be stomped on, only bumped off.

In a parallel to Perfect Cell, Shadow will be the reason why Metallix has all the Chaos Emeralds and turns to his ultimate form
Shadow will probably do something that will allow Metallix to have all of the Chaos Emeralds, mostly from arrogance or overconfidence. Sonic will definitely call Shadow out on it.
  • Considering what we learned in episode 8 of the original series, this is very doubtful. Shadow is after Metallix's head, period. If he were out to seek a challenge, he would have let Metallix transform back on Mobius, rather than use Chaos Control to remove the emeralds.

If Nazo ever appears, he will be an Expy of Frieza
Both have certain similarities, Such as color scheme, changing of forms (Though that seems similar to Cell as well), and both are revived as cyborgs. Though considering chakra-x is already making a sequel to Nazo:Unleashed it may be possible Nazo won't appear

Stuffwell will either have a Face–Heel Turn, or be Evil All Along.

Ideas for future Continuations
Based on Previous WMGs, Haynes's own ideas, and the other sagas of DBZ. As with the Cell Saga, Mecha Sonic gets his hands on the Chaos Emeralds, becoming Metallix in the process. After curb-stomping Shadow, Metallix starts a world tournament to test his new powers. In order to stand a chance against Metallix, Mario and crew go to another source of immense power: The Star Spirits. The Star Spirits are able to give the group their super forms, allowing them to challenge Mecha Sonic, and after some training in the Pit of 100 Trials, the group is now ready. However, The heroes aren't the only ones who challenge them. Eggman shows up along with bowser and Mecha-Mario. Bowser intends to get the Chaos Emeralds from Mecha Sonic, while Eggman wants to put down his creation once and for all. However, one of the big ones to show up is The Master from Paper Mario, who is convinced that he can put a stop to Metallix (Spoiler: He doesn't). The rest of the arc goes similar to the Cell Games arc, With Luigi going up against Metallix and managing to cause so much damage that two chaos emeralds are knocked out of Metallix, reverting him back into Mecha Sonic. Enraged, Mecha Sonic decides to take everyone down with him by activating his self-destruct. Mario manages to stop this by taking him up into space. With Mario apparently dead, the Star Spirits come together and manage to bring him back, along with the Chaos Emeralds. With metallix seemingly gone, it looks like peace at last.

Smithy Saga

Turns out that Red survived his beating by Mecha Sonic, as he returns to enact his revenge on Mario, Sonic, and friends. It is here that they find out that Smithy is now after the Chaos Emeralds, With the intent of using them to restore his destroyed body and becoming stronger as well. Basically, it is similar to the Piccolo Saga from the original Dragon Ball. However, after Smithy is defeated, the gang thinks that they have won again, but it turns out that the saga is only halfway through. Mario and friends later discover that Smithy created a secret weapon: Axem Ranger Blue. Created from the parts of Metal Sonic, Blue activated upon Smithy's death, and needs energy. So after they won, Blue began going around stealing the Vim energy from various Toads across the Kingdom to get a power boost. To become even more powerful, Axem Ranger Blue decides to travel to the new Mushroom Kingdom Fighter Tournament with the intent of using Mecha Sonics Copy Data Ability to gain as much knowledge and abilities as he wishes. Mario and the Gang are also on their way to this competition, along with a few of Mario's Old Enemies.

King Wart Arc

This is a short one. Basically one day, during Kolorado's Expedition to Subcon in honor of his Grandkoop, he accidentally opens a jar that frees the King Wart, who proceeds to get revenge on the Mario Brothers, and their little Toad too! After taking over the Star Sprite Shrine and unleashing his army on the Mushroom Kingdom, he learns of the Chaos Emeralds, and decides that Unlimited Power may be useful for his goals. However, because Wart is theoretically a Dream-based Creature, The Chaos Emeralds end up responding weirdly to Wart, resulting in them going dark and creating something which will have consequences later on

New Yoshi's Island Arc

Yep! The Yoshis were able to successfully find a new Island and have restarted their lives again. However, when the Gang decides to visit, they discover that the Island has been Attacked again by none other than the Shroobs. Led by the Princess Cyber-Shroob, having been Rebuilt after her defeat at the hands of Mario, and seeking revenge for the Death of her Older Sister. It turns out that the Shroobs are quite resilient against the Power of the Chaos Emeralds, but not only that, but the Princess has brought the true leader of the Shroob Empire to the island: King Shroob. The saga ends with Super Mario and Super Sonic defeating King Shroob, at the cost of Yoshi's Island. However, the Chaos Emeralds and Star Spirits are able to repair the original Yoshi's Island, preventing the Yoshis from being Homeless.

Also, maybe Baby Mario could be an Expy of Goten, maybe the son of Mario and Peach?

Thats all I have, I couldn't think of any ideas for equivalents to the Buu Saga or the movies, nor could I think of how to include Nazo. But any other ideas from others?

MOVIE IDEAS:

The last lights on Mobius: Ever wonder about the last days of mobius? In this prequel movie taking place not long after the Death Egg crashed, Knothole is one of the last true safe havens from Mecha Sonic, with Sonic and Tails protecting the Last Chaos Emerald. With villages and towns being wiped out every day, Sonic and Tails decide to find a way to fight Mecha Sonic by creating a machine that will harness the power of the last emerald. Tails, despite Sonic's warnings, decides to go up against Mecha sonic alone with his supercharged power armor, only to lose in a Curb-Stomp Battle due to mecha sonic having the other 6. The Death of Tails causes Sonic to fall into madness and begin trying everything he can in response with the hope of killing Mecha Sonic, even if everyone else is already dead. All the while, Shadow observes from the distance. (The Idea I had was that the Burning Forest where Mecha Sonic gained the last emerald in episode 4 (I think) was Knothole)

A few ideas this troper had:

  • Dimentio/Chaos Saga: A wizard known as Fawful has discovered a way to unleash a previously unknown entity, and it's up to the SMBZ Fighters to stop him. He's able to unleash said evil eventually, but it turns out to be rather harmless...or is it? It eventually is revealed that it has two halves - a good half (Chaos) and a bad half (Dimentio); the good half being the dominant one, but when Wario and Waluigi attempt to profit off of him, things go south fast...

  • Battle Against Silver Saga: It turns out that the (insert SMBZ equivalent of Supreme Kai) isn't the highest entity in the universe - nor is the one we've been following the only one! Silver travels down to the Earth, revealing who he is with his attendant Rosalina! Since he couldn't get his pudding, it's up to Mario to prove that the Earth is worthy of survival by taking him on in the most epic battle to date! And just why does he look like Sonic and Shadow?

    The Reboot Series (2015)

King K. Rool will replace Wart in the reboot, and King Boo having an emerald will replace the Minus World episode.
Seeing as Wart is no where to be seen in the new intro and K. Rool is, its safe to assume that he will replace him due to having relatively similar designs. King Boo will replace the Minus World due to this episode being known cut and King Boo having no counterpart in the old continuity.
  • Alvin has indeed confirmed K. Rool will replace Wart. He admitted he didn't like his original plan.

Donkey Kong will make an appearance in the series as an ally to help against K. Rool.
If K. Rool is going to play a part in collecting the Chaos Emeralds, then it seems most likely that Donkey Kong will play a part in that as well. Also potentially possible is the idea that, while he is opposed to K. Rool, he will not necessarily be on the side of the protagonists either, due to his primal instincts forming his judgement on the protagonists.

The reboot will introduce a female member to accompany Wario and Waluigi
I can't be the only one who compares Wario and Waluigi to the Pilaf Gang, given their role in the story. However, they still lack a counterpart to Mai...so maybe a female from Warioware or one of the Wario games could fill the role - maybe perhaps Captain Syrup?

  • Doubtful since she and Wario would not get along given their history together. It had been revealed that Peach had her own "bad" rival as an answer to the Mario Bros's dating back to 2000 with Mario Tennis in the form of Wapeach who was cut from the game, so someone like her could likely fill the role better... especially considering the fact that she was thought to be a Bratty Half-Pint who would treat both Wario and Waluigi like her minions, a foil to how the noble Princess Peach treats Mario and Luigi with respect and as equals.

One of the previous Sonic robots Metal Sonic will fuse with to become Metallix will be Mecha Sonic from the original series.
That Mecha Sonic was from Sonic 3 & Knuckles, and was actually the second model with the name. Given how Metallix is meant to be a bigger visual upgrade, it only suits it would be one of the three robots that would become him. Not to mention it would be a neat Shout-Out to the old series.

The reboot will cover events of Dragon Ball Super
Said reboot would adapt the arcs (including the retellings of the movies), and reveal that the SMBZ counterparts of the 12 other universes are other Nintendo franchises. For example:
  • The SMBZ universe would have Silver as the God of Destruction, with Rosalina taking Whis' place (or, alternatively, Fawful will be used in Silver's place, since his personality is slightly closer to that of Beerus's, with Silver taking Rosalina's place).
  • The Legend of Zelda: Would be the SMBZ equivalent of Universe 6. The God of Destruction would be Ganondorf, whose portrayal would be a case of Adaptational Heroism (for one thing, he would be shown as more reluctant to fight Link, and only come into conflict with Link because the planet Hyrule was on was originally scheduled to be destroyed), with Vaati as the stand-in for Vados (or if Fawful ends up being the series counterpart to Beerus, Hilda will be the stand-in for Vados). Zant would be a Frost-esque character.
  • Pokémon: Arceus would be the God of Destruction, with either Mew or Mewtwo as his attendant.
  • Metroid: Either Mother Brain or Ridley would be the God of Destruction, with either Ridley (if MB was the god of destruction) or Kraid being the attendant.
  • Fire Emblem: There are so many possible choices for God of Destruction - possibly Naga if they wanted to use a benevolent god, with Tiki being the attendant.
  • Kid Icarus: God of Destruction? Hades obviously. But that still leaves the Angel. Maybe Medusa or Dark Pit?
  • Kirby: It will be the equivalent to Universe 11 with King Dedede as Belmod, Meta Knight as Toppo and Kirby as Jiren.
  • Earthbound: God of Destruction would of course be Giygas and his Angel is Porky.

Metallix is Hearing Voices
The way his dialogue at the end of episode 2 is written seemed to imply that, omnicidal mania aside, something is very wrong with Metallix mentally. He seemed to be talking to the Chaos Emerald he was holding, as though it had spoken to him. Chaos Emeralds, at least in the video games, do not do this. Meanwhile, this is Metal Sonic in one of his more ridiculously human depictions, so he may be experiencing some very human mental illnesses as well, or at least the Theme Park Versions thereof.

The Chaos Emeralds have an internal consciousness, a la the Infinity Stones in the Marvel comics/movies
Same evidence as the above, except that there really is something in the stones. After all, the White Emerald did glow when it seemed to "talk" to Metallix, and there's gotta be some reason why the Master Emerald was needed to keep the Chaos Emeralds in check. It is possible that Metallix is not crazy as such, and instead that the Emeralds have a powerful instinctive urge to be gathered, enough so that sufficiently attuned individuals, like Metallix (who was seemingly made to channel them), can hear it inside of them.

The Chaos Emeralds have an internal consciousness, and it doesn't want Metallix to win
Pursuant to the above two guesses, the Chaos Emeralds do have an internal consciousness, and while they can't control who uses them or how they are used, they can still communicate to an extent. The Emerald he stole from Yoshi may have been nudging him to leave and collect the other Emeralds because it knew he was more than capable of defeating the entire party right then and there, ergo it nudged him towards the action that made less strategic sense - and leaving the others who wished to gather the Emeralds alive. Metallix is also egotistical enough that he might simply have never considered that maybe the Emeralds don't want to be used by him.

Shadow will join the party in the Adaptation of the Doomship arc
Unlike the original series, where Shadow leaves the party in order to search for the remaining Emeralds, Shadow will join the team when he learns that within Bowser's ship is the presence of the Red Chaos Emerald, in the possession of the good doctor. The Emerald will at least give him an incentive to join the attack on Bowser beyond just saving Peach.

While King Boo will replace the Minus World, homages to it will be made.
Mark has stated that the Minus World episode was poorly-paced, too bloated with dialogue and exposition and had a Deus ex Machina. In short, he doesn’t like it. However, so far, the 8-bit sequences have had small homages. Mario is seen in this form at the beginning of the intro, and Luigi briefly becomes 8-bit when he panics.

A brief outline of the King Boo Episode is that he has a Chaos Emerald and is using it to get revenge on Luigi.

The Heroes go to Evershade Valley, and visit E. Gadd. The scientist tells them he knows where one of the Chaos Emeralds is: King Boo has it, and he's holed up in Treacherous Mansion. Like the Minus World episode, Stuffwell is also introduced here, and can be used to track ghosts.

Luigi is terrified at the revelation. He's faced King Boo three times, but it’s different this time. His nemesis is armed with an artefact that makes him nigh-unstoppable. Luigi refuses to go, and after an argument, the others take Stuffwell and go without him.

Upon arriving at Treacherous Mansion, Mario, Sonic, Shadow and Yoshi are ambushed. A fight begins, but they can’t hurt the ghosts and Boos. Only Shadow's Chaos Control does anything against them. The spectres change the environment and Mind Screw the heroes.

They could even land Sonic and Shadow in a Heroic BSoD state by shapeshifting into Tails, Knuckles, etc and berating them that Mobius was destroyed because of their incompetence.

The group are defeated and brought before King Boo, who traps them in an 8-Bit mural. They can still move, but the mural is a pocket dimension which they can’t escape from.

Stuffwell escapes, and retreats to the lab to get help. Luigi is horrified at his brother's imprisonment, but is still too afraid to fight a Chaos Emerald-powered King Boo...until the ghost himself uses Luigi's allies as an ultimatum. Either Luigi faces him, one-on-one, or Mario and his friends die.

Luigi, armed with a new Poltergust, faces King Boo and saves his team mates.

Something is communicating with Metallix through the Chaos Emeralds
Metallix isn’t simply insane (well, he almost certainly is, but it doesn’t have anything to do with his talking to the Chaos Emeralds) nor do the Chaos Emeralds have a will of their own. Some sort of Greater-Scope Villain is manipulating Metallix through the emeralds, intentionally goading him into collecting them all and giving him advice when necessary as part of some long term scheme. Whoever or whatever this villain or entity is, they’ll be the villain of a future saga once Metallix is defeated.

Metallix will appear in the Doomship arc this time around
  • With Dr Eggman and Bowser having a Chaos Emerald this time and the events of Yoshi's Island playing out in possibily the same way as the original, Metallix will lose all 4 of his Chaos Emeralds and things seem to go well for the heroes. With King Boo out of the way and Shadow potentially joining the heroes this time, the heroes have 5 Chaos Emeralds and are off to rescue Peach and nab the 6th Chaos Emerald in the process. They all agree to use a Chaos Emerald each to empower themselves and rescue Peach faster.

    • They overcome the Koopalings (who fulfil Basilisx's stone gimmick in his stead) and face Mecha Mario who has the Chaos Emerald and very nearly crushes them only for Metallix to show up. Mecha Mario's secret programming kicks in and he fights Metallix. It's implied that Mecha Mario doesn't stand a chance before Metallix shows up with vengeful intent.

    • The heroes have a Chaos Emerald each but so does Metallix. Knowing that the heroes outnumber him, he throws Princess Peach out of the airlock, forcing Mario out of the fight. He then picks Yoshi off and steals his Chaos Emeralds and takes Luigi's next, leaving him at 3 Chaos Emeralds. Bowser and Eggman decide to get the hell out of dodge upon realizing their Doomship is falling apart.

    • Sonic and Shadow try to keep up the momentum only for Metallix to brutalize them and steal their Chaos Emeralds. Rather than kill them, Metallix decides to make them watch as he rises out of the Doomship, turns Semi-Super and sends the Doomship on a collision course towards Toad Town. Mario shows up, sees the others and takes the fight to Metallix much to Sonic and Shadow's protests.

    • Metallix fights Mario, with much of the choreography homaging their fight in the Minus World. Mario loses, gets his Chaos Emerald taken and Metallix has 6 of them in his grasp. He then leaves the Doomship and of course the heroes to die.
    • Meanwhile in the Mushroom Kingdom, Princess Peach and Toadsworth see the Doomship coming right towards them and have the people evacuate before leaving themselves. The heroes make it out despite their dangerous situation as the Doomship hits Toad Town in a massive explosion.

    • After everything, Professor E. Gadd calls the heroes to inform them that a power reading has been detected at DK Isle and the heroes need to go and investigate...

Someone is communicating through the Chaos Emeralds to Metallix
  • Relating to above theories, something is communicating to Metallix (on the chance that this isn't his crazy side showing in another way). The something in question, Chaos. Why Chaos? It could be a few things:

    • 1. Chaos saw what Metallix did through the Master Emerald (as it's implied there's a connection between it and the 7 Chaos Emeralds) and wants to manipulate him enough so the Heroes have more of a chance to take him down,

    • 2. Manipulate Metallix himself into unleashing Chaos to tear Metallix apart (since aside from Sonic & Shadow's friends being slayed, likely Chaos in their gardens were slayed as well beyond Cheese) or,

    • 3. Chaos is helping Metallix by aiming to spread more literal chaos onto the world, reminder, he was titled 'god of destruction' and destruction is chaos (Chaos as we know is very wraithful when his fellow Chaos are harmed in anyway, even to the point of endangering those not involved and in this case it would be the Mushroom Kingdom along with Sonic and Shadow).

    • If 2 or 3 ends up being true in some way, it would make sense as Chaos was originally going to be a movie villian during the original series's run.

Metallix’s super form will be called Emperor Metallix
  • His name is already a reference to Sonic the Comic, so why not go a step further and name the final form of the Big Bad after the ultimate leader of the Metallix? It would also fit Metallix’s ego to give himself an illustrious title like that.

Mario and Luigi will have more trust issues with Shadow than in the original canon.
Episode 2 had a significant change in that Mario was furious that Sonic and Shadow had something to do with Yoshi's attacker. If it wasn’t for the fact that Yoshi was wounded and dying, he would have fought the hedgehogs there and then.

To add insult to injury, when Sonic decided to tell Mario and Luigi the truth, Shadow protested that it wasn’t “their business”. Considering Sonic and Shadow's business almost spilled the blood of an innocent, this comment is especially callous.

It will add tension in the team by giving the Bros legitimate reasons to dislike Shadow later on.

After witnessing more of Shadow's perceived self serving attitude, Luigi and especially Mario will have their own growing beef with him for reasons that differ from Sonic's direct confrontation.

When it comes time to take on King Boo, something during that arc may have Shadow do something that solidifies the last straw for Yoshi and the Bros working with him afterward. Luigi might not understand but Mario and Yoshi would: Yoshi having first hand experience with Metallix, and Mario having a more active role and understanding of him being the hero of the Mushroom Kingdom.

Instead of sitting on the sidelines while Sonic and Shadow bicker the whole time, the Bros will take part in the discussion, albeit for reasons separate but similar from Sonic.

The reboot is actually part of a time loop taking place after the OG series.
Due to Episode 9 of the original series never being released, Mario's final fate is that he ends up decapitated by Basilisk when then shatters the other heroes, seeing no further use for them.

Bowser successfully has Peach by his side as he takes over the Mushroom Kingdom. Shadow is the only hero left to fight against this menace but even he falls eventually. Turbo Mecha Sonic eventually gathers all 7 Chaos Emeralds, becomes Master Mecha Sonic before using his newfound power to destroy Bowser's armies and establish a fighting tournament to find the strongest fighters to amuse himself before he destroys the planet.

With no worthy opponents left, Turbo Mecha Sonic destroys the planet before using the Chaos Emeralds to travel to an alternate universe before travelling back in time. Things are different this time. Turbo Mecha Sonic finds an alternate version of his past self (Mecha Sonic MK: II) and destroys them before taking his place. When the time comes, Turbo Mecha Sonic deliberately allows Metal Sonic to absorb him, transforming him into Metallix.

Now transformed into Metallix, he decides to kill everyone on Mobius (again). He absorbs the Chaos Emeralds (the originals used up as part of his rebirth into Metallix) from this new world, loses them and the cycle starts over, hence the reboot.

Metallix got his Arm Cannon and Shoulder Cannon from copying Omega.
Compared to the original series, Metallix's new Armcannon is very clearly based on Omega's favorite gatling gun hands. While tearing apart Mobius, Metallix must have copied as many of Omega's weapons as he could before finally destroying him.

The Koopa Bros. will actually fight Metallix in the reboot.
And they'll have just as much luck as the Axem Rangers.

Metallix will create a tournament after his ascension to godhood.
Unlike the original series, the usage of a tournament makes far more sense because it'd serve as a parallel to the first episode which had a fighting tournament instead of a race. After using the Chaos Emeralds to become Perfect Metallix and curbstomping the heroes so hard that they're left for dead, Perfect Metallix decides to host a tournament. The purpose of the tournament is to find the strongest fighters for his own amusement, and then absorb their abilities before killing them. However, Perfect Metallix eventually grows bored and eventually decides that he'll destroy the planet unless the strongest fighters on the planet show themselves. Cue several of the surviving villains (e.g Wario & Waluigi, Bowser, Dr Eggman, King Boo and King K Rool) showing up for revenge and the heroes emerging from hiding to destroy Metallix once and for all. The heroes end up going through a reverse order Boss Rush against the remaining villains before they can take on Perfect Metallix himself in the final episode.
