Metallix Saga

  • Episode 1: Bowser's Return
    • A Goomba is wandering around the fields of the Mushroom Kingdom when he happens upon a mysterious blue gemstone. He picks it up and decides to take it for himself. Suddenly, Mecha Sonic appears in a brilliant burst of light, and he demands the Goomba give him the Chaos Emerald. The Goomba is too confused to reply, and Mecha Sonic kills him for his inability to respond.
    • Meanwhile, Mario and Luigi are about to have a kart race against Wario and Waluigi in a stadium packed with bystanders, including Princess Peach. The Mario Bros have some car trouble at first, but managed to catch up to their rivals. However, as the racers approach the finish line, a group of Bob-Ombs falls from the sky and detonates, destroying the track and announcing the arrival of the evil Bowser and his minion Kamek. Bowser explains he's come to humiliate Mario in front of his fans and kidnap Princess Peach, and the two face off.
  • Episode 2: Warriors From Another Dimension
    • Mecha Sonic stands alone atop a mountain with the blue Chaos Emerald. He talks to himself about finding the other six before flying off.
    • Back at the stadium, Mario and Bowser's fight rages on. Mario eventually uses a Fire Flower to get the upper hand, but Bowser has Kamek conjure a power-up of his own: a Metal Mushroom that encases him in impenetrable armor. Mario is unable to break through Bowser's armor and is severely beaten, leaving him at the mercy of the evil king. However, he is saved when a mysterious metal capsule appears in the air above them and crashes down onto Bowser, destroying his metal armor. Luigi gives Mario a Cape Feather and he uses it to beat Bowser up again, but he is interrupted by Kamek holding Peach at wand-point. Mario is forced to surrender and allow Bowser to win, but Sonic and Shadow emerge from the mysterious capsule and knock Kamek away, giving Mario an opportunity to thrash Bowser once more and throw him out of the arena. Mario is then approached by Sonic, who confirms that they have arrived in the Mushroom Kingdom.
  • Episode 3: The New Threat
    • The Mario Bros take Sonic and Shadow to Princess Peach's castle. There the hedgehogs ask them about the Chaos Emeralds, explaining that the Emeralds got teleported into the Mushroom Kingdom and they need to retrieve them before someone else gets their hands on them. Mario and Luigi offer to help look for them; however, the eavesdropping Wario Bros also plan to find the Emeralds.
    • A montage begins, showing the heroes searching the Mushroom Kingdom for the Chaos Emeralds. Hijinks ensue, including recruiting Yoshi to help. Yoshi and Luigi end up finding the red Chaos Emerald together, but they are separated when a mysterious force destroys the cliff they're standing on. Luigi runs to get help.
    • Yoshi falls into the canyon below with the Chaos Emerald, where he is confronted by Mecha Sonic demanding he give it to him. When he refuses, Mecha Sonic becomes more physical, causing Yoshi to defiantly swallow the Emerald whole. Mecha Sonic decides to knock the Emerald out of him by force, and proceeds to give Yoshi a brutal beatdown until he spits it back up. He is about to finish the dinosaur off when he senses the approaching presence of Sonic and Shadow, shocked that they followed him to the Mushroom Kingdom. He lets Yoshi live and flees to save face.
    • Luigi brings the others back to the scene, where they find the defeated Yoshi. Sonic and Shadow both immediately understand who is responsible, and Sonic assures Mario they will explain after they get Yoshi some medical attention.
  • Episode 4: Here Come the Koopa Bros.
    • Yoshi is brought to the home of the Mario Bros to recover from his fight with Mecha Sonic. Sonic apologizes for not informing them of the danger sooner, and begins to tells them the full story behind their visit to the Mushroom Kingdom.
    • In a flashback, Sonic explains his and Shadow's relatively peaceful life on Mobius, along with all of their old friends. He tells them about Dr. Eggman's plans to enslave Mobius' inhabitants and rule the world with his robot empire, including his plan to defeat Sonic by creating robotic copies of him. Eggman went through various models who all failed, but one robot called Metal Sonic was the most persistent and powerful of them all. One day, Metal Sonic absorbed the other Sonic robots to become the super-powerful "Turbo Mecha Sonic". Eggman berated him for acting out of line, causing Mecha Sonic to go berserk and destroy Eggman's space station. Something was triggered in Mecha Sonic by seeing the destruction he had caused, and he began to mercilessly kill the residents of Mobius as he searched for the Chaos Emeralds to become all-powerful. Sonic held the last Chaos Emerald, but was defeated by the mechanical menace. Mecha Sonic prepared to use the Chaos Emeralds to transform, but Shadow intervened and teleported them as far away as he could at the last second, sending them to the Mushroom Kingdom. Enraged, Mecha Sonic used the energy he had absorbed to teleport after the Emeralds, and Sonic and Shadow were forced to follow him by using one of Eggman's remaining teleporation capsules.
    • The Mario Bros and Peach are horrified by Sonic's story, and promise to help him stop Mecha Sonic. As Sonic finishes the story, Professor E. Gadd arrives at the house. He gives them an Emerald Radar he had been working on since a Chaos Emerald crashed through his window earlier. As E. Gadd shows them the yellow Emerald, however, the lights in the house flicker and it vanishes from his hand. Shadow rushes off to look for the Emerald, and the other heroes soon follow using the Radar.
    • Mario, Luigi, and Sonic find the thieves in a desolate field, and Mario recognizes them as the Koopa Bros. Shadow appears to demand the Emerald back, blowing the heroes' cover to the Koopas. They explain that Bowser has sent them to search for the rumored Emeralds. Shadow impatiently attacks them, but is repelled by their teamwork. The leader, the Red Ninjakoopa, recognizes Mario from a previous battle, instigating a fight between the four heroes and the four Koopa Bros. The heroes outclass the Koopa Bros for most of the fight, until they use the Chaos Emerald to power up their special move and completely curb-stomp all the heroes in one attack. With the heroes unconscious, the Koopa Bros steal their Radar and leave to find the rest of the Emeralds.
  • Episode 5: Trouble on Yoshi's Island
    • Sonic finds himself in a field on Mobius, where he is the last thing standing between Mecha Sonic and the final Chaos Emerald. The malicious mechanoid defeats him and steals the final Emerald, powering up into his ultimate form and firing a blast at Sonic.
    • Sonic awakens back at the Mario Bros' house, having had a dreadful nightmare. Downstairs, Shadow is furious with his loss to the Koopa Bros and refuses to accept medical attention. Professor E. Gadd arrives and hears the unfortunate news, but announces that he made a Radar Radar just in case they lost the Emerald Radar. Using the Radar Radar, they discover that the Koopa Bros have traveled across the sea to Yoshi's Island. They use E. Gadd's flying Poltergust to cross the waters. Meanwhile, Yoshi has mysteriously disappeared from his bed.
    • The brothers, hedgehogs, and E. Gadd arrive on Yoshi's Island. They quickly find what appears to be the purple Chaos Emerald, but E. Gadd is caught in a makeshift net trap as he approaches it. The heroes discover the Emerald is a fake and turn around to find the native Yoshi tribe, who are responsible for the trap. The Yoshi tribe angrily threatens the team, so Shadow attacks one of them, causing a fight to break out. The heroes are outnumbered and Mario is about to be finished off by the massive Thunderfoot, but is stopped by the arrival of the green Yoshi we know and love. The Yoshi Chief arrives and recognizes Mario from his days as a baby, being the Yoshi who originally found him.
    • The Yoshi Chief explains that five days ago he happened upon the real purple Chaos Emerald and was amazed by its power. However, soon a group of five mysterious Yoshis appeared and demanded an Emerald from the tribe. They then revealed that they were not Yoshis at all and attacked, enslaving the tribe and forcing them to mine the island for more Emeralds, believing them to be a natural resource. This is why the Yoshis had set a trap. Sonic offers to free the enslaved Yoshis and defeat their oppressors.
    • The heroes find the enslaved Yoshis mining away and break all of their chains, freeing them. They then go to the village statue where the Emerald was kept, but it is snatched up by the Koopa Bros before they can reach it. The Emerald is then snatched back away by a mysterious figure atop an airship. The figure appears on the ground alongside several more, who introduce themselves as the Axem Rangers X: upgraded versions of the Axem Rangers whom Mario fought in the past. Axem Red explains that their boss, Smithy, sent them to find power to help him return, and they believe they've found the jackpot on Yoshi's Island. The three teams decide to have a winners-take-all brawl for all the Emeralds present plus the Emerald Radar, and a massive fight breaks out that rocks the entire island.
    • The Koopa Bros decide to turn the tide of the battle by using their Emerald-powered special attack again. However, Mecha Sonic senses their use of the Emerald and dashes off to locate the source.
  • Episode 6: Brawl on a Vanishing Island
    • Wario and Waluigi finally wash up on the shores of Yoshi's Island, having followed the heroes there to find more Chaos Emeralds. They feel a large tremor and suddenly realize what's going on.
    • The massive three-way battle rages on, and in the chaos Mario and Red Ninjakoopa both drop their radars. The Wario Bros find the Radar Radar, while Sonic finds the Emerald Radar. He is cornered by several Koopa Bros and Axem Rangers X for it, forcing him to run up the side of a mountain to escape.
    • In the midst of the battle, Luigi finds a Blue Shell power-up, giving him a defense boost, and Mario finds a Fire Flower that lets him easily deal with the Red Ninjakoopa and Axem Red. Frustrated, Axem Red teleports to the Blade airship to prepare a Chaos Emerald-powered Breaker Beam to end the battle.
    • After dealing with Axem Yellow, who has split the mountain in two, Sonic notices a bright flash of light from the Axem Rangers' airship. Axem Red fires the Breaker Beam, which destroys the entire mountain range and shocks every fighter with its power. The Yoshi Chief begins to round up his tribe to evacuate if worse comes to worse, and Sonic promises they'll stop the Axem Rangers from destroying the island. The Koopa Bros decide to try their special attack again to counterattack. However, Shadow is suddenly shocked as he senses Mecha Sonic's presence nearby.
    • Mecha Sonic charges at the island, easily smashing through the Koopa Bros special move and causing their Koopa shells to all crumble. He also flies directly into the Blade airship, deflecting the supercharged Breaker Beam with a barrier and crashing the entire aircraft. Mecha Sonic lands in front of the heroes, flaunting the two Chaos Emeralds he just obtained from the Koopas and Rangers and growing arrogant in his victory. Axem Red reads his power level, finding it to be "OVER 9000!!!" and ordering Axem Yellow to take the Emeralds back. However, Mecha Sonic breaks Axem Yellow's axe in two before accepting the Axem Rangers' challenge. He uses the four Emeralds he's collected to power up, becoming Semi-Super Mecha Sonic and making quick work of four of the Axem Rangers at once. Axem Red is horrified by Mecha Sonic's new power and tries to hit him with his ultimate attack, but it fails to do any damage. Mecha Sonic then quickly destroys Axem Red as well, before turning to face the heroes again.
    • The five heroes charge into battle against Semi-Super Mecha Sonic, and are totally overpowered by his overwhelming strength. Mecha Sonic knocks Mario unconscious and teleports high above the island, preparing an enormous energy attack which will destroy the entire island and everyone on it. Luigi, fortunately, remembers Peach gave him a 1-Up Mushroom before he departed and uses it to revive Mario, who in turn finds an Invincibility Star in a nearby block. Mario brings the Star to Sonic, and the two use it to transform into Invincible Mario and Super Sonic respectively. The pair attack Mecha Sonic and steal back all four of the Chaos Emeralds, and are about to finish him off when the Invincibility Star wears off and sends them plummeting back to the ground. Frustrated, Mecha Sonic sends the charged attack at the island anyways before teleporting away. Sonic throws a Chaos Emerald to Shadow, who uses it with his Chaos Control to teleport the heroes, E. Gadd, and the entire Yoshi tribe off of Yoshi's Island and safely to the mainland. The unconscious Koopa Bros are seen being engulfed in the blast, and the island is left in utter ruins.
    • On the mainland, Chief Yoshi laments the loss of his home but thanks the heroes for saving him and his tribe. Sonic is optimistic, stating that at least they now have four Emeralds and Mecha Sonic has zero. They realize they lost the Radar Radar, but aren't too worried about it since they have the real Emerald Radar now.
    • Elsewhere, Wario and Waluigi are seen to have escaped the island with the Radar Radar still in hand.
  • Episode 7: Secret of the Pipe Maze
    • Kamek approaches Bowser's throne room, but is denied entry by the Koopatrol guards on the basis that Bowser is still throwing a tantrum after his loss to Mario. Kamek's mother, Kammy, appears, having returned from her vacation. She sends Kamek to his room and enters Bowser's throne room anyways, where she is blasted with a fireball. She informs Bowser of the Koopa Bros' defeat, frustrating him further. She also tells him about the Chaos Emeralds that were present there, piquing his interest due to having heard of the Emeralds from an "old man." Bowser calls in Bowser Jr. and the Koopalings, announcing that they are going to storm the Mushroom Kingdom again and take Princess Peach by force. However, this time they will be bringing some secret weapons...
    • Bowser enters a laboratory to speak to a shadowy figure: Dr. Eggman. Eggman unveils to Bowser the Omega Doomship, a massive airship much larger and stronger than any of the Koopa airships. He also shows Bowser his latest creation: a robotic copy of Mario, similar to Mecha Sonic.
    • Meanwhile, the five heroes follow the next signature on the Emerald Radar and head to a large field full of pipes. Professor E. Gadd sends them Stuffwell for assistance, as he contains a detailed map of the underground Pipe Maze below them where the Chaos Emerald possibly resides. Stuffwell selects the best pipe to enter and they all jump inside.
    • Once they enter the Pipe Maze, however, the Emerald Radar picks up 30 different Emerald signatures, revealing that the Emerald's energy is somehow reflecting all over the maze. The group splits up to search the area, and nearby the Wario Bros enter the caves as well. This starts a comedic montage of a search for the Emerald, including a cameo from Jeff and Hal from Bowser's Kingdom.
    • Mario, Sonic, and Stuffwell find themselves at a dead end. They turn to leave, but Mario notices impacts on the ground above them. Mecha Sonic bursts through the ceiling and attacks them; Sonic is able to hold him off, but Mario struggles due to not having any power-ups. Mecha Sonic blasts Sonic through a wall and has him on the ropes, but Mario grabs Sonic from him and leaps down a nearby pipe. Mecha Sonic is quick to follow them, and Stuffwell flees to go find the others.
    • Mario and Sonic find themselves in a strange 8-bit landscape reminiscent of the first level from Super Mario Bros.. They begin looking for a way out when they run into Goombella and Kolorado, who also got stuck in the 8-bit world due to a recent research expedition. Kolorado tells Mario and Sonic that they are in the Minus World, and points out that his family's ancient stopwatch has even stopped working. Goombella also shows them that she had discovered the white Chaos Emerald during the expedition. Mario and Sonic take the Emerald and begin to search for a way out.
    • Meanwhile, Shadow is getting frustrated by the Pipe Maze. Luigi and Yoshi run into him, and Stuffwell finds them and tells them what happened to Mario and Sonic. He then leads them back to the pipe they entered.
    • Back in Minus World, an exit is no where in sight. However, they are suddenly confronted by Mecha Sonic, who has also been reduced to an 8-bit state. He attacks them again, and Mario holds his own against him using a Cape Feather for a while, but eventually the two are defeated and Mecha Sonic takes the Chaos Emerald from them. Mecha Sonic prepares to use Chaos Control to teleport out of the Minus World, but finds that he can't due to the vast negative energies surrounding it. Enraged, he attacks Mario and Sonic once more to take out his anger on them.
    • Stuffwell brings Luigi, Yoshi, and Shadow to the pipe. He then receives a transmission from E. Gadd, who patches them through to his colleague Professor Frankly to tell them about the Minus World. Shadow ignores his long history lesson and pleas to not give chase, jumping into the pipe anyways and soon being followed by Yoshi. However, Luigi refuses to enter.
    • Shadow and Yoshi appear to save Mario and Sonic from Mecha Sonic, quickly retaking the Emerald. Shadow tries to teleport out with Chaos Control, but it fails again, much to Sonic's chagrin.
    • Stuffwell continues to speak with Professor Frankly, expressing his concern. Meanwhile, Luigi finally finds the resolve to enter the Minus World and save his brother, but appears in the sea surrounded by Bloopers and begins to panic.
    • While the heroes continue to fight Mecha Sonic, Goombella and Kolorado discuss the situation. Kolorado begins examining his stopwatch, but it is knocked out of his hand when Luigi flies out of the sea and bumps into him. The stopwatch smashes on the ground, and somehow momentarily restores the Minus World's positive energies and returns everyone to normal. However, the effects seem to only be temporary, and the entire cast begins rushing for an exit before the negative energy returns. Mecha Sonic continues to give chase, just barely escaping right behind them.
    • Back in the Pipe Maze, all the heroes exit at once and land in a pile on the ground in front of Stuffwell. Mecha Sonic appears behind them and prepares to incinerate them all with a huge blast, but Shadow teleports them all back to the Mario Bros' house at the last second.
    • At the house, Goombella and Kolorado bid farewell and part ways with the heroes. However, Stuffwell notices smoke billowing out from Princess Peach's castle in the distance, and Toadsworth arrives to inform them that Peach has been kidnapped by Bowser once again.
  • Episode 8: The Great Doomship Offensive
    • Toadsworth recounts the story of Princess Peach's kidnapping, mentioning the giant Omega Dooomship on which Bowser came to take her. They begin to formulate a plan, but Mario notices a note on the wall from Bowser himself and begins to read it (in a blatant Hotel Mario reference). Sonic agrees to help Mario and Luigi rescue Peach, but Shadow refuses, claiming that Mecha Sonic is still out there and will get the last Emeralds before them if they get sidetracked. Sonic and Shadow get into a fierce argument, resulting in Shadow abandoning the team and heading off on his own.
    • The remaining four heroes head to Professor E. Gadd's laboratory to prepare for their raid on the Omega Doomship. The Mario Bros grab some power-ups and the team boards the Sky Pop to fly after Bowser and Peach. The Wario Bros see their takeoff and Wario throws Waluigi up to the plane, but he misses it and careens into the plains below.
    • Aboard the Omega Doomship, Bowser applauds Dr. Eggman for his impressive work on the aircraft. He is then informed by his Koopatrols that Mario is approaching, and Bowser is excited that they took the bait, revealing that he plans to steal all of their Chaos Emeralds once they arrive. He then tells a new face, Captain Basilisx, to man the Doomship's main cannon.
    • The heroes on the Sky Pop just barely manage to avoid the Omega Doomship's laser cannon. The Koopa armies begin to organize defense efforts, and Eggman exits the bridge to work on something. Mario uses a Super Leaf and leaps off of the Sky Pop with Sonic, skydiving onto the Doomship to smash their way through Bowser's forces up-close. Eventually, Luigi and and Yoshi fire missiles from the Sky Pop and blow a hole in the Doomship's hull, landing the Sky Pop and entering its bay.
    • However, Luigi and Yoshi find themselves faced with a horde of Koopatrols that quickly overpowers them. Mario saves them and gives Luigi a Tanooki Suit, while Sonic procures a Fire Flower which he tries to keep away from the Koopatrols. A box of Bob-Ombs is detonated by accident, sending all of them flying into the air; frustrated, Sonic leaps up and absorbs the Fire Flower, becoming Fire Sonic for the very first time. He leads the charge in his fiery new form with blistering speed and pyrokinesis, and the heroes defeat hundreds of Koopatrols together. However, they are interrupted when Mario is kicked away by Captain Basilisx.
    • Basilisx uses his petrifying gaze to turn Sonic, Luigi, and Yoshi to stone statues, leaving him and Mario alone together. He then introduces himself to Mario, claiming that he wants to avenge a fallen friend of his whom Mario apparently disposed of many years ago. Mario equips a Hammer Suit and Basilisx grows Wolverine-like claws, and the two have a fierce battle. However, Basilisx threatens Mario's petrified friends and manages to slip Mario a Poison Mushroom, defeating him and holding his claws to his neck. Bowser is impressed by Basilisx's strength, which was given to him courtesy of Dr. Eggman.
  • Episode 9: The Two-Shell Treaty
    • Shadow stands alone in a desert, contemplating his decision to leave the others and reminiscing about the loss of his friend, Rouge. As if on cue, Mecha Sonic appears, also searching for the sixth Chaos Emerald. The two get ready to fight.
    • Basilisx stands over Mario, ready to end his game. However, he is interrupted by Luigi, who used his Tanooki Suit powers to escape Basilisx's petrifying stare. Luigi revives Mario with a 1-Up Mushroom, and the two brothers prepare to face Basilisx and his Koopatrol legions.
    • (That was the last scene produced of the original series. Haynes confirmed that Shadow would have lost his duel with Mecha Sonic, and that the heroes on the Doomship would've fought the Koopalings and later Mecha Mario after defeating Basilisx. The events planned directly afterwards are unknown).

    The Reboot Series (2015)

Metallix Saga

  • Episode 1: Fierce Battle Between Fierce Rivals

The Goomba is too confused to reply, and Metallix kills him for his inability to respond.
    • Elsewhere, a "Super Smash Bros." tournament is underway, and the final round is a fight between Mario and Wario. Rawk Hawk is present as a special guest announcer alongside two Lakitus, and Princess Peach is spectating. The fight begins, and Mario seems to have the upper hand until Wario gets an Assist Trophy and summons Waluigi to help. Mario is almost defeated by a Wario Bros team-attack, but Luigi intervenes by throwing him an Invincibility Star at the last second. As the fight is about to continue, a Bulky Bob-Omb lands in the arena between them and detonates, announcing the arrival of the evil Bowser and his minion Kamek. At the same time, the recovering Bowser is approached by Dr. Eggman about finding the Chaos Emeralds as well. The heroes set out to find Yoshi to help in their search, while Bowser summons the Koopa Bros to perform their own search. Wario and Waluigi also catch wind of the Emeralds and begin scheming to take them for themselves. Hijinks ensue.
    • Luigi finally discovers the white Emerald in a forest, but Wario jumps him and steals it. Yoshi helps Luigi pursue Wario and Waluigi's automotive escape, cornering them on a mountaintop. However, they are all interrupted by a missile strike, blasting Wario and Waluigi into the distance and knocking Yoshi off the cliff with the Chaos Emerald. Once he lands, his fall broken by the forest below, Yoshi is confronted by Metallix for the Emerald. Yoshi indignantly swallows it, so Metallix attacks.
    • Mario, Sonic, and Shadow rendezvous outside Peach's Castle, their search ending up fruitless. Luigi stumbles towards them in a panic, revealing Yoshi's situation. Realizing who is responsible, Sonic and Shadow dart off in Yoshi's direction with the Mario Bros in tow.
    • Metallix has Yoshi on the ropes, but the Chaos Emerald in his stomach suddenly gives him a power boost that helps him fight back. Metallix is impressed by Yoshi's new strength, but still manages to overpower him and retrieve the Emerald using Chaos Control and his more durable robot body. He moves to finish him off, but upon seeing Sonic and Shadow approaching in the distance, he flees to face them another day. Sonic and Shadow bicker about Metallix's involvement.
