Dragon Ball Online was an MMO by Korean developer, NetMarble. The story was mostly written by director Koji Takamiya, and the project was approved and overseen by Akira Toriyama.

The story is set in the Age 1000, 216 years after Goku went to train with Uub at the end of Dragon Ball Z. Over this time many unforeseen changes have occurred in the universe. The Earth is now home to three new races: the Majin, the Namekians, and the Yardratians. The Majin are known to be the children of Majin Buu while the Namekians were forced to, once again, flee from their home planet due to unknown circumstances and take refuge on the Earth. Parts of the Earth have been terraformed to resemble that of Namek to make the Namekians feel more at home.

Two conflicts fuel the story. The first is with an organization known as the Red Pants Army, which seems to be a recreation of the Red Ribbon Army, and the second is a mysterious force known only as the Time Breakers. The Time Breakers' motives are attempting to go back through the history of the Earth and alter all of the major events involving Goku, with the goal of either brainwashing him or stealing his DNA.

The Time Breakers' meddling with time has caused a number of time rifts to open up all over the planet Earth. The character you play as is from an unknown Age that was unwillingly pulled into one of these time rifts and ends up in the Age 761 at the Kame House where you witness an encounter between Trunks and the Time Breakers. Trunks then takes you to the Age 1000 where you and he together try to preserve the Earth's history either by way of going through the time rifts or with the use of his Time Machine.

As NetMarble only had the rights to the manga version, as well as the Toei character of Bardock, Dragon Ball Online completely ignores the events of Dragon Ball GT.

The game was eventually shut down; the Korean servers went offline on September 26, 2013, with the Taiwanese and Hong Kong versions joining it on October 31.

After the shutdown, some groups of dedicated fans began making a reproduction of the missing data and setting up custom servers, essentially creating an updated Fan Remake to be titled Dragon Ball Online: Global and Dragon Ball Online: Revelations. Their progresses can be viewed here and here. The storyline established in the game got more or less revisited in the 2015 video game, Dragon Ball Xenoverse.

Dragon Ball Online provides examples of:

  • Acrofatic: Male Majins, similar to Buu himself.
  • Acrophobic Bird: Unaided flight can be obtained as early as level 10, but player characters can never initiate flight during combat and will drop to the ground when attacked. This included engagements with flying enemies.
  • Adaptational Badass: Subverted. In the manga and anime, humans were basically ants compared to the galaxy destroying foes in the series. Here, humans are just as powerful as Majins and Namekians, and can go Super Saiyan. But this is only because they are hybrids, pure humans are still weak.
  • Airborne Mook: Saibaman variants with fly-like bodies, mechanical eyes deployed by the Red Pants Army and Cell-X eggs.
  • Allegedly Free Game: Many features like the Assist Character Pets and vanity outfits cost real money to buy.
  • Alternate Timeline: Several:
    • The first timeline, where Goku dies from a heart virus, leading to the Androids killing most of his friends.
    • The second timeline (the main one), where Trunks averts the above.
    • The third timeline, where Cell killed Trunks and stole the time machine.
    • The theme of Dragon Ball Online is that the nature of time travel has changed, preventing these, but not before a seemingly infinite amount of timelines had been created. Previously, only 12 were confirmed.
  • All There in the Manual: Much of the game's plot, such as the existence of Towa's baby, was revealed in Dragon Ball Online Chronicles, which was only released in South Korea.
  • Anti-Grinding: As you get stronger, the enemies give less and less experience. No, not talking about the amount of experience to the next level getting higher, even though it does as well; the enemies themselves will eventually get to the point where only 1 point is gained from defeating them.
  • And Your Reward Is Clothes: Quests will typically reward you equipment.
  • Assist Character: The pets, usable by any character, and the dragons, usable by the Poko Priest class.
  • Attack Drone: The Hearthstone weapons that are equipped by Poko Priests. The orbiters of the Plasma Majins.
  • Bad Future: Age 2000, which Mira reigns.
  • Bad Present: Age 1000 to Trunks, where factions such as the Red Pants Army and Naraka's Evil Namekians are trying to Take Over the World.
  • Bare-Fisted Monk: All physical-type classes until the secondary classes are unlocked.
  • Beast Man: The animal men who faded from prominence as the manga went on are back in force, making up about a fourth of the friendly NPCs and some serving as enemies.
  • Bee Afraid: In some circumstances it is possible to summon giant bee people dual wielding spears. Of course they try to kill you if you do.
  • Bishōnen Line: Cell is a quintessential example but it's grown out of by the Time Breaker clone of him, Cell-X, who eventually becomes equally as monstrous as his initial form again in between escaping from the Time Breakers and being destroyed by the Time Patrol.
  • Bizarre Sexual Dimorphism: Male majins are primordial blobs. Female majins are primordial blobs shaped like attractive humanoids. Justified because Buu created the first, Miss Buu, based on a character from a pornographic novel in-universe.
  • Black Mage: Spiritual-type classes in general, Wonder Majins in particular.
  • Blue Boy, Pink Girl: Inverted with Majin Buu and Miss Buu. Also inverted with Dabura and Towa.
  • Bonus Dungeon: The ccs is this, composed of 150 floors, in which every 5 floors there is a boss where after defeating him you can choose between reward or continue. The first 40 floors are not so hard, but from 41 you start to need good items to survive and the presence of a healer becomes essential.
  • Boss in Mook Clothing: Ultras don't technically qualify as bosses, but they are still very dangerous enemies, even the ones found in the open world can take multiple players to defeat, and the ones found in dungeons can be real damage sponges, some having almost half of a boss's life.
  • Brainwashing: The Time Breakers brainwashed Freeza's elite soldiers in age 2000, including the formerly deceased Zarbon and Dodoria. They've also done so to Bardock, The Ginyu Force and Gohan.
  • Bribing Your Way to Victory: One of the best examples was the "Super Saiyan potion" which instantly transformed your character into a Super Saiyan, that was vastly superior to the regular Super Saiyan form available to players. It was only available if real money was spent to buy it in the cash shop.
  • Canon Discontinuity: This game does not enter into the continuity of the new movies or Dragon Ball Super, due to all the contradictions that could be included.
  • Can't Catch Up: Full-blooded humans are still this, per the director's words.
  • Cast from Hit Points: Two of most powerful attacks in the game, appropriately belonging to the Crane Hermit master classnote , are cast from LP instead of EP. The Martial Artist class has access to a similarly-powerful attack that likewise costs LP.
  • Call a Smeerp a "Rabbit": According to the Head Director, all humans in the game are Saiyan hybrids directly descended from Goku and Vegeta.
  • Canis Major: The Time Breakers have giant cyborg attack dogs.
  • Carry a Big Stick: Among the energy oriented classes, all members of the Namekian Dragon Clan have staffs, Human Turtle Hermits can obtain rods, Grand Chef Majins have clubs.
  • Casual Time Travel: Provided you come across a time rift, you can easily go to the past and back to the future/present. Returning to the past afterwards is more difficult, as the rifts tend to patch up.
  • Child Prodigy: "The Youth", Despite their young age they are very talented fighters with a very high growth potential.
  • Citadel City: West City is surrounded by a large wall, probably to avoid the amount of hostile beings that live near the city.
  • City Guards: Usually signified by carrying spears.
  • Clarke's Third Law: Towa's a scientist but some of the things she manages to accomplish seem more in the realm of magic.
  • Crapsaccharine World: As cheerful as it may look, the earth in the year 1000 is extremely dangerous.
  • Clone Army: Within an army no less. The Red Pants started cloning Buyon.
    • Similarly, they have Android 8000, a mass produced model based on Android 8.
  • Combat Hand Fan: Usable by humans of the Crane Hermit class.
  • Combat Medic: The Dragon Clan Namekians.
  • Cool Mask: The Karma Majin class are signified by wearing masks.
  • Cutscene Power to the Max: In the cutscenes, Mira is stronger than Trunks in his base form. In the gameplay, he's only a little bit stronger than Nappa.
  • Cut Short: The servers were taken down before many of the plot elements were revealed.
  • Degraded Boss:
    • In the first three "Time Machine quests", Android 8000 appears as a boss or a mini-boss. Later in the game, they appear as regular enemies.
    • In ud 2, the android 19,000 initially appears as a boss, in the final fight against the clone of Doctor Gero they appear as regular enemies.
  • Doomed Hometown: The player's home village is attacked at the start of the game.
  • Demoted to Extra: Several important characters like Yamcha, Chiaotzu, and Uub don't get one mention. Though their techniques are in the game, and the first two have Dogis available.
    • Also Full Blooded Humans, and Full Blooded Saiyans who would not be playable at any point. Though some fullblooded Saiyans like Bardock play a large role in the plot.
  • Distant Sequel: The game takes place more than 2 centuries after the end of the original manga.
  • Dual Boss: Two different versions of the android 8,000 appear together in the third "Time Machine Quests".
  • Earth-Shattering Kaboom: New Namek and Yardrat were destroyed by Mira before the events of the game, which is why the inhabitants are now on Earth. Planet Burst is also a usable attack by the Pure Majin sub-class, although it's nowhere near as powerful as Kid Buu's was.
  • Elite Mook: Super Mobs, They are stronger than the Average Mob, but a solitary player of same level could beat them without many difficulties. (Unless they are accompanied by two normal mobs, which is usually very common)
  • Escort Mission: Occasionally, your character will have to deliver another somewhere on their back. Unlike most examples, they do not get in the way at all.
  • Explosive Breeder: The head director clarifies that humans in the future are actually Saiyan hybrids due to directly descending from Goku and Vegeta. As only roughly 200 years have passed, they must've been really getting around... Also Majin Buu, but that's not surprising considering he's magical. On the other hand, all the player characters are time displaced, so it's not the only interpretation.
  • Fake Ultimate Hero: Look at the billboards on the way to the city. Even after two hundred years, they're still making movies about Mr. Satan. Two at once.
  • Fake Ultimate Mook:
    • Sometimes Turtle Saibamen of colossal sizes appear, but they are not actually stronger than the average mob of the same level.
    • Most dinosaurs are regular mobs that can be easily defeated by a player of the same level. Funnily enough in the trailer, a dinosaur is treated like a boss who needs 5 players to beat.
  • Fighting Clown: Majins, especially the Karma Majin class.
  • Fish out of Temporal Water: You, the "hero" of the game, start as a child displaced from Age 1000, in the midst of their village getting attacked. The Time Breakers are based in "the future", Age 2000.
  • Forced Level-Grinding: In Papaya Island there are few missions, so to reach level 70 it is necessary to kill a huge number of Mobs.
  • Foreseeing My Death: According to the timeline, in Age 801 (17 years after the end of Z), Goku realized that he was dying of old age and left Earth with Vegeta for one final battle.
  • Fountain of Youth: The Kid Clock item allows a character to revert back to child form. This is the only way to get a Super Mode on a kid character.
  • Four-Fingered Hands: Nameks lose the extra finger they were given on the show.
  • Free-Range Children: Your character starts out as a kid without so much as a send-off. Granted, they no longer have a home to go back to.
  • The Future: The main time period of the game is set 216 years after End of Z, when Goku started training Uub.
  • Generation Xerox: Several examples.
    • The Paella gang members are identical to their ancestors, the Pilaf gang, right down to the whole wanting to take over the world and teaming up with a Big Bad who's way out of their league thing.
    • All Majins look similar to Buu, but that's a completely different problem. Played straight, however, with the Pure Majin Super Mode, where you'll turn into an exact copy of Kid Buu whether you're male or not.
    • Similarly, the Saiyan hybrid characters also typically look like Goku.
    • The fight between the Saiyan hybrid and Namekian in the trailer is very similar to the fight between Goku and Piccolo in the 23rd World Tournament.
  • Giant Enemy Crab: The Saibaman variants of Age 1000.
  • Giant Mook: Some super and ultra Mobs are larger versions of their henchmen.
  • Giant Spider: Some Saibaman variants have the body of a spider and arms coming out of their heads in place of fangs/mandibles
  • Heroic Lineage: All "Human" players are descended from Goku or Vegeta. Same with Majin players and Fat Buu.
  • Heroic RRoD: The Kaio-Ken rapidly drained HP. And had an advancing multiplier. The technique is truly dangerous when paired up with a competent White Mage, but a Death or Glory Attack at all other times.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: Bardock's not much of a hero but he uses the self explosion technique on Mira after shaking off the Time Breaker brainwashing.
  • Hero Unit: The game has "Hero" units with the distinction that they are enemies, they are basically elite bosses.
  • Humans Are Warriors: Oh, hell to the yes. Aside from being in no small part thanks to Gohan's publishings as well as Krillin and Tien bringing back the Turtle and Crane schools, Goku and Vegeta's bloodlines have spanned very far. Add in that one wish to Shenron can ignite the dormant Super Saiyan spark, and you have a race of Earthlings you do not want to screw around with.
  • Improbable Power Discrepancy: Many small / medium animals are at high levels, even when by this point the player has already defeated many Freeza soldiers and Nameks.
  • In the Past, Everyone Will Be Famous: Understandably, considering that you bump into characters from the series. Otherwise downplayed, as the main characters of the original comic are nowhere near as famous as Majin Buu and Mr. "Hercule" Satan. Piccolo and Dende are famous among the Namekians.
  • Justified Extra Lives: The Popo stones allow people to return to the area in which the stone is located after they faint during battle.
  • Kamehame Hadouken: Several variations of the Trope Namer exist for human characters, and one exists for Majin characters.
  • Ki Manipulation: Duh, it's Dragon Ball. Spiritualists are the most frequent abusers, especially at lower levels.
  • Kid from the Future: Inverted with Time Patrol Trunks, as he's from the past, but played straight for the player character, should they stumble through a rift.
  • Killer Rabbit: Many cute creatures such as squirrels are enemies in the game, literal rabbits appear as enemies of level 48-49.
  • Killer Space Monkey: Some Saibaman variants move on all fours and have tails, making them monkey like.
  • A Kind of One:
    • One of the healer's sub-classes is literally called Dende, based on the original Dende.
    • Many of the species that one comes across are named after the original character that was of that species, such as the Giran and the Buyon.
  • Large and in Charge: The last boss of the Red Pants Army base, Android 9, is very big, but has the body proportions of a short man, making him look pretty odd.
  • Live Item: How the game treats some Escort Missions.
  • Loose Canon: This game was never officially canon, but before the new movies and Dragon Ball Super were released, there was nothing to contradict it.
  • Made of Evil: The Namek Naraka, was born from the evil of the Nameks who fled to Earth due to King Piccolo's lingering influence. Piccolo Junior isn't too fond of him.
  • Mecha-Mooks: Android 8000 and Android 19000, mass produced versions of Android 8 and Android 19 that are deployed by the Time Breakers, as well as Captain Bacterian's Pirate Robots. Android 8000 is a Degraded Boss and upgraded Mk II variants are later released. The Red Pants Army have mass produced versions of Android 16.
  • Magic Knight: The human's Swordsman class.
  • Magic Music: Can be used by the Ultimate Majin class
  • Mass Monster-Slaughter Sidequest: Some missions involve killing a specific number of enemies, on Papaya Island, the number can go up to 60 or more.
  • Mini-Boss: Ultra Mobs, They are much stronger than super Mobs and it usually takes two or three players to beat them.(Or only one, if this one is well armed and count with good items of healing.)
  • Mini Mook: Tiny Saibaman variants, mostly because of shorter limbs, which wield branches or wear spiky armor.
  • Misplaced Retribution: The Time Breakers, especially Mira, have a strange obsession with Goku even though he was neither the strongest of Earth's warriors at the time Dragon Ball Online was released nor was he directly responsible for Dabura's death.
  • "Mister Sandman" Sequence: When passing through time rifts, the camera will usually pan around a landmark such as Fry-pan Mountain that will let you know where and when you are.
  • Muggles: The majority of humans are still this in the future as revealed in Chronicles.
  • Mutants: Naraka deploys several nameks in his army that have such severe mutations they don't even resemble nameks anymore. Some of them can be summoned as Player Mooks by the spiritualist namek classes.
  • Never Trust a Trailer: The second trailer shows some things that do not happen in the game.
    • In the trailer, adventurers can attack while flying, something that can not be done in the game.
    • In the trailer, 5 adventurers have problems to beat a dinosaur, in the actual game most dinosaurs are regular mobs that can be defeated by a single adventurer.
      • Although it could be argued that they were in an area of a much higher level, enemies with too much difference in level, give almost no experience. So killing the dinosaur would not give them almost experience.
  • NPC Random Encounter Immunity: Mobs will not attack npcs, except if the npc is a guard or part of an escort mission.
  • Older Is Better: Each generation of Majins is weaker than the last, the current generation being as weak as humans. They can still increase their power through training though and can get help in this training from the first/second generation.
  • One-Man Army: Compared to average NPC, the player character become a "One Man Army" after of level 20.
  • Only Six Faces: There are relatively few options for customization. Given the source material's style, however, that's really all you need.
  • Overnight Age-Up: You have the option of completing a quest at Level 30 to become an adult.
  • Overworld Not to Scale: As is normal in role-playing games, most houses are much smaller than what they are supposed to be, as are distances between cities.
  • Pet Interface: You had the option of purchasing a pet that will float alongside and level up with the player character. The pets were later removed with a patch, but will be brought back in Revelations.
  • Pirate: One of the Time Breakers is a pirate version of Bacterian
  • Power Level: All characters have their power measured with scouters, although they appear to be purely symbolic. For example, a playable character of level 33 with a good set of armors will have a power greater than 50,000 and will still need a party if s/he wants to defeat Raditz.
  • The Power of Friendship: Krillin revived the Turtle School with this basis, in order to compensate for the general lack of strength humans have alone compared to aliens. However, as all the player humans are Saiyan hybrids descended from aliens, and the Turtle Hermit class was very underpowered, the message is kinda broken.
  • Puny Earthlings: Double Subverted. Humans are a main playable race and fend for themselves with superior martial arts techniques. Then the Head Director clarified that the Humans were actually Saiyan hybrids descended from Goku and Vegeta, while actual humans are still irrelevant when it comes to saving the world.
  • Player Versus Player: From time to time, players can compete against each other in the World Martial Arts Tournament.
  • Quest Giver: Potentially all NPCs.
  • Random Drop: Some missions involve killing a certain type of Mobs, to obtain a certain item. At low levels, almost all Mobs drop the item, while at high levels you can kill entire groups of enemies and still not get a single item.
  • Rat Stomp: Many of the quests are clearing x number of a specific kind of enemy.
  • Really 700 Years Old: Some manga characters are confirmed to be still alive, including Piccolo, Dende, Moori, Master Roshi, Fortuneteller Baba, Korin, Tao Pai Pai, and Monster Carrot.
    • Justified, as the majority of the people listed above were already established to be long-lived to begin with, one way or another.
    • This trope is not limited to manga characters, we can include new characters as Miss Buu and the leaders of remnants of the Galactic Freeza Army.
  • Resurrection Sickness: Appears as a status ailment by name whenever your character respawns.
  • Robot Buddy: Hope!, who accompanies Trunks on time patrol missions.
  • Rubber-Band History: Granted, the player characters usually have something to do with history snapping back after it is altered, and somewhat subverted as it's not our history.
  • Scifi Writers Have No Sense Of Scale: No Sense of Time variant, 216 years seems like a rather small span of time for Saiyan hybrids to become as common as they supposedly are.
  • Schrödinger's Player Character: In the "Time Machine Quests", Trunks refers to the player character in the singular, even when he/she is a member of a party.
  • Sea Monster: The Time Breakers turn the giant octopus Goku ate during the Red Ribbon army saga into a cyborg.
  • Serious Business: The Saiyan hybrid and Namekian of the first trailer participate in a martial arts tournament and act as if it were a fight to the death.
  • Set Right What Once Went Wrong: Due to the nature of time travel being changed, it's possible for the antagonists to make a mess of the timeline as they search for the genetic material of strong fighters. Luckily Trunks had already formed a Time Patrol to prevent the previous "problems" time travel caused.
  • Shapeshifting: The Time Breaker demon Churai changes her shape to infiltrate and takeover the Red Pants army.
  • Skill Point Reset: The class masters in most settlements will allow you to reset your skills for a fee.
  • Snake People: Snake saibamen. A little less so than most examples, as they lack limbs
  • Spikes of Villainy: Naraka's outfit includes spiked shoulder pads
  • Statuesque Stunner: Female majins. They are taller than most humans and their highest versions (Mighty Majin) are as tall as a Warrior-type Namekian.
  • Stone Wall: Namekian classes excel in healing, defensive buffs and speed. The Great Namek class further boosts defense, raises attack power but lowers speed, making them mighty glaciers.
  • Strong as They Need to Be: The group in the second trailer have problems with a dinosaur (which are not even bosses), but in the next they are able to fight Vegeta.
  • Super Mode: It's based on Dragon Ball, so this is kind of a given. In addition to every race being able to use the Kaio-Ken technique, each race has its own unique Super Form that can be unlocked via a wish from the Dragon Balls.
  • Summon Magic: The Poko Priest class can lay eggs that hatch dragons to fight for you.
  • Superior Successor: Many of the enemies are superior to the character in the original series that they were based on.
    • General White was not a very strong fighter, his successor is one of the strongest subordinates of Tao Pai Pai X.
    • Buyon is an enemy that Goku defeated in the Red Ribbon saga, his successor is much stronger than Tao Pai Pai X. (Buyon on normal difficulty is thought to be for level 38, while Tao Pai Pai X on hard difficulty is thought to be for level 30)
    • Bacterian was a weak fighter who used dirty tricks (literally), his successor is a level 70 boss, almost as strong as Cell-X.
    • Android 8 was a powerful character when first introduced, but was quickly overshadowed by guys like Tao Pai Pai and Korin. Androids 8,000 are much stronger than him.
    • In the original series, Mutant Nameks were weaker than their father King Piccolo. Those who appear in this game are level 56-64.(As a point of comparison, most Freeza Soldiers tend to be between levels 41 to 47.)
  • Space Compression: The game map is based on the official map of the Dragon Ball earth, but with reduced distances.
    • In the anime and manga, the distance between Korin Tower and the Red Ribbon Army Headquarters was 2,300 km. In-game, it's only ~2 km.
    • In the anime and manga the distance between the Kame House and the place where goku landed is 10,000 kilometers, in the game it’s only around 9 kilometers.
  • Team Pet: Available for purchase at some point through the game.
  • The Battle Didn't Count: The Time Patrollers can't actually beat Raditz, just distract him for a while.
  • Timeline-Altering MacGuffin: The Time Breakers recruit past villains and give them upgrades.
  • Time Machine: Trunk's upgraded Time Machine.
  • Time Master: Towa and Mira.
  • Time Police: Time Patrol Trunks and you the player.
  • Time Travel: The main theme of the game.
  • The Minion Master: The Poko Priest class.
  • Took a Level in Badass: Beyond the gameplay statistics, the player character becomes stronger as the game progresses. For example, in the three "Time lap quests" , the player characters has to defeat enemies that Goku could defeat at the beginning of the series. While in the "Time Machine Quests", the player characters face the villains of the Saiyan and Namek sagas.
    • Tao Pai Pai got an upgrade and becomes Tao Pai Pai X, although if the moment he is faced is any indication, Tao Pai Pai X is still weaker than Raditz.
  • Truly Single Parent
    • The aforementioned Poko Priests in-game.
    • And before the game's events, we have Buu, who have made himself a wife from a part of his own body. One love beam later, and the entire Majin race was spawned.
  • 20 Bear Asses: Some missions involve killing a certain type of Mobs, to obtain a certain item. At low levels, almost all Mobs drop the item, while at high levels you can kill entire groups of enemies and still not get a single item.
  • Unintentionally Unwinnable: In "Tmq 2", if the second to last enemy is killed before his cutscene, there will be a bug with the detonator and it will not be possible to fight Raditz.
  • Units Not to Scale: Averted with normal sized units, for example Vegeta despite being a boss is still as small as one would expect. But played straight with giant units, for example, Oozarus and giant Namekians usually measure just over 6 meters tall, when in the anime and manga they were much larger than that.
  • Unknown Rematch Conclusion: Goku and Vegeta leave Earth to settle their rivalry with one final fight somewhere they can use their full power without endangering others. Later, a supernova-like explosion is detected, implied to be the result of their battle, but who wins is never known.
  • Updated Re-release: Revelations, while mostly being the same as the original, does contain some gameplay tweaks such as flying no longer costing AP, along with hints of adding Dummied Out content. The developers have even discussed the possibility of adding completely new content once the main game is active again.
  • Underrated and Overleveled: Krillin and Gohan in the fourth "Time Machine quest". At that point in the story, Gohan and Krillin were much weaker than Nappa, but in gameplay they are almost as strong as Nappa was on hard difficulty.
  • Uneven Hybrid: All the playable human characters in-game are actually part-Saiyan, being descendants of either Goku or Vegeta.
  • Video Game Geography: Beyond the Space Compression, the map of the game has differences with the official map of the manga, in order to adapt it to the world of the game.
  • Villain Team-Up: The Time Breakers with the Age 2000 Red Pants Army remnants.
  • Waddling Head: Potato Saibamen enemies.
  • Wake-Up Call Boss: Bong Bong for humans, Real Monster for Majins and Jiji Builder for Nameks. They are characterized by being the first genuinely difficult enemies that the player will face. Something that makes them difficult, is that they are the first genuine bosses, as by that point the strongest enemies the player(s) had faced were Supermobs that were only a little bit stronger than the common mobs.
  • Wayback Trip: Time rifts will often contain things not present in the original Dragon Ball events, like hostile giant lizards. In this case, it's safe to assume they did get there due to time travel, much like the player character, but its doubtful the Time Breakers caused such changes on purpose.
  • We Can Rebuild Him: Android 9 was modelled after Commander Red, prior to forming the Red Pants Army.
  • When Trees Attack: One of the larger enemies in the game are Saibaman trees
  • Wolverine Claws: Dark Warrior Namekians
  • Wolverine Publicity: Bardock, who got a lot of exposure in this game.
  • World of Badass: The earth, which is filled with the presence of Hybrids, Nameks, Majins, dangerous wildlife, Saibamens and sremnants of Freeza's army among others.
  • White Mage: The Dende Priest class.
  • Writers Cannot Do Math: Hybrids supposedly represent a large percentage of the human population, even when it seems too unlikely that their population would grow that much in a span of just 216 years.
  • Written by the Winners: As revealed in Chronicles the majority of humans in the future have forgotten the Z-Fighters existence in favor of Mr. Satan.
