  1. Characters.Despicable Me Felonious Gru: To Lucy — they work effectively as a Battle Couple, provide comfort to one another during a time of stress, and have a healthy communication with each other.
  2. Characters.Frosty The Snowman: Married + Characters show gratitude towards each other (hence successful marriage).
    • To Crystal, who's existence helps brings him out of the funk he was in, and has continued to show his gratitude for having a wife by always being there for her when she needs him.
    • To Frosty, who built her specifically so he could have a wife. Considering the song "Everything I've Always Wanted" shows that she's grateful for all she's been through with her husband, the two couldn't be more happier.
  3. Characters.Reservation Dogs: (Leon) He and his wife celebrate their anniversary while in a storm shelter, though only their daughter remembers their anniversary date.
  4. Characters.The Batman 2022: Thomas clearly loved Martha dearly. Alfred reveals that his desperation in trying to silence Edward Elliot was not to protect his political aspirations, but to protect his wife's reputation and sanity.

    • Ritzhard's parents have always traveled together, and were together when they disappeared 10 years ago. In that time, they somehow got lost, and yet it hasn't seemed to have dampened their love for each other at all.
  9. Roleplay.Who Needs Harmony: Garrick and Gabriella are quite happily married. In fact, their love is so strong it managed to power the Crystal Heart and destroy Sombra!     Misuse (4/104) 
  1. Characters.Avataro Sentai Donbrothers Donbrothers: To his wife Miho. It's to the point where he believes that she is the only high point of his life. This winds up being brutally deconstructed in that his reliance on her as the "one good thing" he has in his life makes him toxically dependent on her, willing to commit atrocities to punish those who hurt her and willing to throw anyone who threatens to take her from him under the bus. Once her true nature as a Jūto comes to light and she exits his life he very quickly suffers Sanity Slippage to the point where he's treated a doll as Miho. Context is about a character being Yandere for his wife, not about two characters having a successful marriage.
  2. ComicBook.Doomsday Clock: Nite Owl and Silk Spectre are revealed to be retired and in assumed identities. Context is about two characters being retired, not about the characters having a successful marriage.
  3. Music.Princes Associates: (Ingrid Chavez) Until her divorce from David Sylvian in the early 2000s. Context is about "this person is once married", not "these people have a successful marriage".
  4. Sandbox.Law And Order Medical And Forensic Experts: (Dr. Melinda Warner) One of the few recurrent SVU characters without much personal angst. "A character who has little personal angst" and "two characters having a successful marriage" are two different things.

    Pothole (31/104) 
  1. After-Action Patch-Up: 'Hawkeye (2021)'': After escaping the fire in Kate Bishop's apartment Clint Barton tells her they need "supplies". Kate assumes this means Avengers-level tech but Clint actually means first aid supplies. He then shows her how to properly clean and dress her head wound to prevent infection. As Clint is Happily Married, and there's a large age gap between him and Kate, the scene is strictly platonic and more about Clint reluctantly acting as The Mentor for Kate.
  2. Confirmed Bachelor: Often overlaps with Celibate Hero. If one of these characters winds up getting "turned" and becomes Happily Married, they have become a Deconfirmed Bachelor. This pothole assumes that the character would enter a successful marriage if they considered one.
  3. Energetic and Soft-Spoken Duo: (Naruto) Sasuke and Sakura are this combined with Brooding Boy, Gentle Girl. Sakura is energetic and spunky while Sasuke is stoic and quiet. Sakura has had a crush on Sasuke since before the series began. The two end up Happily Married.
  4. Kiss Me, I'm Virtual: In the Coma Arc of My Name Is Earl, Earl dreams he's a 50's sitcom protagonist, Happily Married to Billie Cunningham (his friend Frank's ex-girlfriend, and the woman who found him on the road when he got hit by a car... again). Everything in their life is perfect (reflecting Earl's desire for the happy, perfect life he saw on TV but never had himself), and Earl takes this to mean he's to marry Billie when he wakes up Because Destiny Says So. He does, but he soon finds out the hard way that sometimes Wanting Is Better Than Having, and they ultimately end up divorced.
  5. Orphaned Reference: (Bright) In the film's original draft, Officer Ward was going to be separated from his wife. In Jakoby and Ward's first ride together, Jakoby says that Ward doesn't know anything about love and that he hasn't had sex in a long time. However, that whole subplot is dropped from the final film, where Ward is still Happily Married, making the conversation completely nonsensical and undermining Jakoby's claim to be able to "sense" these things.
  6. Analysis.Anti Villain: David Xanatos of Gargoyles teeters between this and Pragmatic Villainy. He's far from the purest human being ever to live, but knows that "revenge is a sucker's game," ends up Happily Married, and eventually comes to terms with the titular gargoyles, all without ever quite pulling a Heel–Face Turn.
  7. BrokenAce.Video Games: Alec Ryder is the father of the Player Character in Mass Effect: Andromeda and seems like a real Cool Old Guy: he's a former N7 operative like Shepard and a brilliant artificial intelligence researcher to boot, all set to the deep voice of Clancy Brown. However, his relationship with his twin children is non-existent, presumably because being an elite special forces and a genius scientist doesn't leave a lot of time for family bonding. He was Happily Married to his wife, though her own scientific research caused her to contract a terminal disease and his ground-breaking work with artificial intelligences got him blacklisted by the human military and cut short the careers of his children as well, leaving them in a position so bad that traveling to another galaxy seemed like the best deal in town.
  8. Characters.Guilty Gear XX: (Official Couple) Happily Married with Sharon.
  9. Characters.Mane Characters The Flash Sentry Chronicles: (Ascended Fangirl) She is even more of one here than in canon. Not only does she still eventually join the Wonderbolts like she has always dreamed of, she starts dating and eventually marries Soarin, her favorite Wonderbolt.
  10. DarthWiki.Out Of This World Planet Zed: Although Zemir is Happily Married to Gaitha, you couldn't find a more different couple.
  11. DinoAttackRPG.Tropes S To Z: (Time-Travel Romance) In Because Of You, Talia Kaahs goes back in time to 1958, where she becomes Happily Married to George Ogel.
  12. EldenRing.Tropes A To E: (Earn Your Happy Ending) This is a Spiritual Successor to Dark Souls, so you know your poor Tarnished is going to have to go through multiple different flavors of hell to fix the Elden Ring and restore the Lands Between to some semblance of order. But if you do it right, you're not just stopped at fixing what was already done; you can make it better. Using the Perfect Order and Death Prince mending runes will ensure that the Golden Order is restored without some of its obvious flaws; the former renders gods just as accountable as mortals, and the latter will integrate the Rune of Death into the order and end the persecution of Those Who Live In Death. The Age of Stars is ambiguous in how it will turn out, but Ranni just wants to allow mortals to choose their own fates, and the Tarnished gets to be Happily Married to her. If you're willing to go all the extra miles and get Miquella's Needle (which involves finishing Millicent's extremely long sidequest and then beating Malenia) you can make the endings even sweeter by sparing Melina, who would otherwise sacrifice herself to burn the Erdtree.
  13. Fallout4.Tropes J To P: (Last Day of Normalcy) It begins with the Player Character, their Happily Married spouse and their baby son Shawn, going through the motions on a typical morning for a suburban American family. The morning in question is October 23rd 2077, the day the People's Republic of China declared war on America with a massive co-ordinated nuclear bombardment.
  14. Film.Bicentennial Man: (Sex Is Good) It's made pretty clear that Andrew and Portia are Happily Married, and are still having regular sex well into old age. Of course, Andrew's medical inventions have made both of them very healthy for their age (Portia is a centenarian; Andrew is a bicentenarian).
  15. Film.Village Of The Damned 1960: (May–December Romance) It's a minor plot point that Gordon is several years older than Anthea - George Sanders was 54, Barbara Shelley was 28 - and as he married "late in life" he wasn't expecting to be able to have a child. Despite the age difference, the two are Happily Married.
  16. Heartwarming.A Wedding 1978: Reverend David Rutledge's belief that God talked to him during his misspent youth and told him to go back to Candice, the woman he'd "impregnated and deserted", is treated as dubious and unsettling by the person he tells the story to. Nonetheless, that rocky beginning to their relationship makes it a lot more touching that David and Candice are the only Happily Married couple in the whole movie besides the two newlywed couples (and even then, there are hints that Dino and Muffin's marriage may get bumpier in the near future).
  17. Heartwarming.Star Wars The Old Republic:
    • Out of all the lines in the romance quest, this one is sure to warm the coldest of hearts.
    Ashara: If you hadn't become Sith, what did you want to be?
    Inquisitor: (A family man) I always thought of owning my own business. Run a shop. [[HappilyMarried Start a family.]]
  18. JustHereForGodzilla.Live Action Films: While The Conjuring Universe has the expected contingent of slasher/horror fans on board, there is also a chunk of otherwise non-horror-fans who are in it for the [[HappilyMarried adorable relationship]] between Ed and Lorraine Warren.
  19. Literature.Sixteen Thirty Two: All of the Happily Married couples come from women who fall in love with genuinely good men.
  20. Myth.Swahili Mythology: An Aesop: The old woman delivers one to Amadi, telling him to tell his wife Fatima she needs to be more grateful for the things she does have. Fatima is ashamed of her behavior and apologizes for making him risk his life over a dumb piece of clothing. She ignored the chatter of jealous women and remained Happily Married to Amadi.

  27. Sandbox.Bisexuality Examples: Helluva Boss: Moxxie is a bisexual man who’s Happily Married to his wife Millie. “Exed and Oohs” reveals he had an ex-boyfriend named Chaz, who’s also bisexual.
  28. TearJerker.Dracula 2020: In "Rules of the Beast", Jonathan dies as a vampire before he and Mina could be properly married. In just about every other adaptation, one of them is always cured and the two can at least have their happily ever after and move on with their lives as a [[HappilyMarried married couple]]. But in this version, Mina will have to move on with her life alone essentially.
  29. TheLegendOfZeldaBreathOfTheWild.Tropes H To M: (May–December Romance) Robbie and Jerrin. The former is a Long-Lived Sheikah (a tribe of humans capable of reaching 150 under normal circumstances) who is at least 120 when Link meets him in the present day, while his wife is a Hylian who is about 50 years younger than him. They're Happily Married and have a mixed-race son named Granté.
