    Fridge Brilliance

Main Game

  • Why exactly is Daycare Assistant's Sun setting so… off compared to the other animatronics, seems very excitable and emotive to the point of being overbearing, and has a much more cartoony and exaggerated voice? While it could be chalked up to typical animatronic weirdness for this series, it should be pointed out that Daycare Assistant is not made for the same demographic as Freddy's band; the band is aimed to appeal more to older kids, say ages seven through twelve, while Daycare Assistant is meant to care for kids who are daycare age, so around ages three to six. It's quite likely that Daycare Assistant is more dramatic and insistent about doing fun activities because it's meant to be holding conversations with literal toddlers, not kids who are Gregory's age (or the presumably much older player). Meanwhile, Freddy's band are capable of helping kids and keeping them safe, but they aren't really expected to hold the kid's hand the entire way through (the way Freddy treats Gregory is a good example of this), presumably because they should be old enough to do basic things on their own.
    • On a different note, Daycare Assistant's Moon setting seems terrifying to put kids through, and it's mentioned that at least one kid was traumatized by it. However, in most instances, the Moon setting shouldn't be as unsettling as it is when hunting Gregory; on a regular day, the Moon presumably acts as a guard to take kids to bed once they've woken up. However, the unique scenario of Gregory being at the PizzaPlex after closing hours and Vanny's tampering might have made Moon more aggressive than usual.
    • In addition, aside from, uh, Map Bot, Moon is the only animatronic that can locate and attack Gregory while he's piloting Freddy. Consider that Moon's area of operation is the Daycare, which comes with a playground set including slides, tunnels, and a ball pit; Moon is probably programmed for/used to dealing with children who hide in far-off, closed-in spaces, meaning it'd have no problem figuring out that Gregory's hidden inside Freddy, and would know how to get him out.
      • Moon is probably also used to finding children smaller and younger than Gregory who also managed to sneak out from the daycare during naptime and have stowed themselves away somewhere in the facility. While in-game Sun shows no interest in leaving the Superstar Daycare, Moon has no problem leaving the daycare and searching the rest of the PizzaPlex, including employee-only areas such as Parts and Service. Moon's tendency to fly through the air via wires and its overall quiet nature allows it to navigate busy areas without interrupting the crowd below.
    • Sun and Moon being so insistent about bringing children back to a designated area makes sense in the context of the Daycare Assistant bringing stray toddlers back from the rest of the facility, especially considering how dangerous the rest of the facility could be to a small child.
    • Sun being so overbearing might have something to do with Gregory being by himself. Sun is probably used to splitting its attention across several young children, all making plenty of messes and wandering off in different directions. Sun probably doesn't do a whole lot of undivided, one-to-one interaction with children under normal circumstances.
    • Sun will never attack Gregory. If Gregory tries to go back to the daycare after being banned, Sun just yells at him and calls for security, which is an amazing show of restraint compared to the other named animatronics, including Freddy, who can all attack and possibly kill Gregory under the right circumstances. As the fun and friendly Daycare Assistant, who occasionally has to deal with aggressive toddlers and temper tantrums, Sun is probably expressly programmed to be gentle and nonviolent no matter what. Any tampering by Vanny hasn't changed that.
    • The Daycare Attendant was designed with disabled children in mind. It has the most human-like hands of the animatronics while still retaining a puppet-like design. Having such nimble hands is perfect for sign language, especially since the Daycare Attendant has a static face, which can’t have its lips read. We know from the banner it puts on the entrance to the daycare that it can also write and has access to writing supplies. The little bells on its wrists and ankles are probably so blind children can locate it. Its ability to fully lift large objects (like Gregory and Freddy) is great for moving wheelchairs and otherwise assisting physically disabled children.
    • Sun is able to climb up the slide if Gregory tries to re-enter the Daycare. Its in-universe designers probably gave it this ability so that it could rescue any kids who got stuck in the slide.
  • Why exactly are the generators to restore power to the Daycare's lights snaked throughout the play area? Simple; it's to make sure the kids have a way to turn the lights back on themselves should they short circuit or if the power goes out. Otherwise, they'd be stuck in a loop of Moon constantly putting them "back to sleep" since the lights would never come back on to disable it otherwise. And if you think this still sounds far too dangerous of a solution to that problem, you're forgetting who runs the Pizzaplex.
  • The game's premise is funnier when you realize it's a role reversal of the previous games. Most past installments had you as a security guard or other employee at a Freddy's establishment, where you had to fend off Hostile Animatronics that are possessed by dead children. This game has you play as a still-living child physically hiding inside an animatronic while trying to avoid a security guard who’s under the control of a ghost.
  • Roxanne Wolf has a somewhat narcissistic personality and is seen backstage convincing herself she’s popular and that fans love her. Fridge Brilliance kicks in if you realize that Monty replaced Bonnie and Freddy is replaced by Mr. Hippo in one ending, meaning she could be a replacement for Glamrock Foxy, who was probably more popular than her. No wonder she has such an Inferiority Superiority Complex.
    • It might be even more than this: Roxy might literally be Foxy. Or rather, she's his actual animatronic given some adjustments and a new AI personality. "Roxy" also sounds like a hasty name change. And what is she self-conscious about? Her hair and tail, which Foxy didn't have.
    • Alternatively, the reason why Roxanne is trying to convince herself she's popular or well-liked is that she knows she could be easily replaced by another animatronic if she isn't liked enough. As a result, the pressure of that happening is getting to her and results in her Inferiority Superiority Complex.
  • Why do the more positive endings always seem to involve a sunrise? While on some level it's just because the game takes place over a single night, it's also because sunrise can symbolize new beginnings.
  • Another thing that makes the ending where Gregory saves Vanessa the Golden Ending is that it presents the best long-term prospects for Gregory, Freddy, and Vanessa. As noted under Fridge Horror, the most likely homeless Gregory would struggle to hide and maintain Freddy should they escape together. If Vanessa is saved, then that means a (human) adult is now present to help him get off the street. Freddy is also only a head in this ending, making him easier to hide and maintain than a full-body animatronic. And while Vanessa has committed criminal actions under Glitchtrap’s control, freeing her means she can no longer be forced to continue while also giving her the opportunity to potentially make up for or rectify her actions.
    • The Golden Ending route comes with its own bit of Fridge Brilliance, in that the way it's accessed is by having Gregory play through all three Princess Quest games in order to free Vanessa from Glitchtrap. The only way you know to do this in game, however, is by the leftover musings by a guest who realized that something was wrong with the Princess Quest cabinets and was trying to get to the bottom of it, but they could never find the third one. The ending sequence shows Gregory beating the game as well, so we know it's physically transpiring from these two points. That leads into why the patron never found the third cabinet: Vanny had it in her hidden room above Fazer Blast. And that is precisely the reason why Vanny, or rather Glitchtrap controlling her, would have hidden that arcade cabinet there at all — it was to make sure nobody ever completed the sequence that would free Vanessa.
  • How come the true ending is the only ending that is fully rendered in a CGI cutscene? Because it's the only ending that actually happens; the rest of the endings are depicted as comic books because they're depicting what would have happened if you took the other routes.
    • Actually, according to Word of God, the reason the other endings are done like a comic book is that it was meant to be an homage to old horror comics like Tales from the Crypt.
  • The collectible Fazbear merchandise which Gregory can come across while exploring the Pizzaplex has more reason to be of interest to Gregory aside from being Easter Eggs/achievements and purely aesthetic swag for the player to find. With the one-star ending heavily implying that Gregory might be a homeless kid, things like clothing and food items, no matter how tacky or suspect, would be invaluable to him. As for the toys, well, he is still a child and small comforts like a plushie would be hard to come by on the streets. Even if they don't fit or are not to his tastes, he could find a way to sell them outside the PizzaPlex for extra cash.
  • For what reason do the wet floor signs (mildly) jumpscare anyone who gets near them, other than to annoy the player? Well, if you get startled by them, you'll obviously look at them. And if you look at them, it's very likely you won't slip, get hurt, and sue Fazbear Entertainment. (Of course, someone could very well get hurt in the course of running or jumping about in response to the Jump Scare, but, again, this is Fazbear Entertainment. Proper decency, harm minimization, or even sensible planning is beyond them.)
  • Why does Freddy conveniently have a lighter in his finger in the "Fire Escape" ending? Probably for lighting candles on the birthday cakes he's claimed to store in his chest hatch.
    • There's Dummied Out dialogue of Freddy explicitly saying his finger lighter is for lighting candles. And crème brulée.
  • Sun is distressed when Gregory turns off the lights, but, before then, it enthusiastically brought up the possibility of doing a sleepover, despite the lights being off when the children sleep. Sun's response to sleepovers is probably because, normally, the children are tucked away properly for sleeping by the time the lights are turned off, which gives Moon no reason to interact with them under normal circumstances. Someone randomly turning off the lights when no one is ready for sleep greatly increases the risk of Moon hurting a child, which likely means that Sun knows that Moon can scare and hurt children. It's no wonder why Sun bans Gregory from the Daycare afterwards! Had other kids been at the daycare, then Gregory would have put them all in danger.
    • It’s worth noting that Sun pushes the idea of staying up all night when talking about doing a sleepover, probably so that the lights have no reason to be turned off.
  • At the end of each hour, the lights in the Pizzaplex shut off and the Moon comes out, simulating night. This happens five times before the doors open. Five nights. At Freddy's.
    • The sixth time this occurs, the recharge stations and save points are disabled. You have to stay alive until you reach the main entrance, with Moon chasing you every step of the way. This is Night 6, where all the difficulty of the previous five nights gets ramped up.
  • Moon, at one point in the game, "kidnaps" Freddy after the latter was seriously injured and no longer able to move. Moon even gives up on chasing naughty child Gregory to do this. Where does Moon take Freddy? To Parts and Services, where the animatronics go to get repaired. Moon saw that Freddy was unconscious and seriously hurt, so Moon gave up what it was doing to take Freddy to the robot hospital.
    • Moon may have also summoned Vanessa, the only human employee on-site, to finish the repairs, as a human seems necessary to complete them. Moon likely has no reason to think that Vanessa would abandon Freddy without fixing/healing Freddy first. Moon thought it was helping him.
      • Alternatively, Moon was just cleaning up another mess. If so, then it doesn't explain how Vanessa knew that Freddy was in Parts and Services. The odds are that something called her there, as she doesn't appear to be in the area beforehand. The repair module itself seems unlikely, as it doesn't call Vanessa when Gregory sends Freddy to it for the upgrades, so it was probably Moon who alerted Vanessa of Freddy's broken state.
  • Gregory has every reason to dislike the Mr. Hippo magnet even aside from considering Mr. Hippo "lame": as an apparent homeless child, he has no fridge, so without so much as a character he likes, it's totally useless.
  • During chases, if Gregory attempts to stun Vanny using the Faz-Cam or Fazer Blaster, she immediately drops her whimsical skipping and charges right at him. It's likely because she realizes that Gregory can now adequately defend himself from the animatronics she sent after him, or at least stun them. Once she realizes that the others probably won't catch him, she gets serious.
    • Another point to this as well, you were warned that the Fazer Blaster could induce "seizures, blindness, or semi-permanent paralysis" if aimed at someone's eyes, and the Faz-Cam is almost bright enough to use as a flash-bang grenade. Considering that bright light shined directly into your eyes repeatedly can actually do just that, Vanny realized you have a way to cripple her permanently, and unlike the Animatronics, who can just get a new pair of eyes when their own gets damaged, Vanny, as a flesh and blood human, cannot. While the mask she wears can protect her somewhat, all it takes is a lucky shot at the right angle to do some serious damage, so she takes the initiative to prevent Gregory from figuring this out.
  • The main theme of the game heard during the intro is actually an extended remix of the Five Nights at Freddy's: Sister Location end of shift jingle. In the True 2-Star ending, we learn that the Pizzaplex was built on top of the remains of the fake pizzeria from Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria Simulator and contains some familiar foes, including what is suggested to be an amalgamate including the Funtimes/Ennard from Sister Location. The remixed theme is basically musical Foreshadowing that Security Breach is not as separated from the original series as it first seems. Plus there are some interesting parallels such as how the True 2-Star ending and Sister Location both involve going to a hidden underground facility where someone has been trying to revive another individual using animatronics and even playing a challenging sit-and-survive mode pitted against all of the animatronics at once like Sister Location's secret ending.
  • Why do the Glamrock animatronics not only have full-fledged personalities, but even some disorders like Chica constantly eating and damaging her insides, Monty's temper problems, and Roxanne's narcissism? It could be that whoever designed this generation wanted to be as authentic to real-life rock bands as possible. This would include the typical hurdles a rock band would face, like clashing personalities and mental health issues that can only be gleaned when the band isn't performing and are therefore "out of character" so to speak.
    • It's also because whoever designed the Glamrocks didn't pay attention to how the Glamrocks were being programmed. For example, they made Roxy a Competition Freak, then programmed her to lose in order to keep the games fair for the kids. So she's a character that loves to win and hates to lose, but is unable to win and compelled to lose every race. No wonder her confidence is shot.
      • The designers made Chica the Big Eater to promote the Pizzaplex's various food offerings. But by doing this, they inadvertently programmed her with a compulsion to eat whenever she isn't playing her guitar.
      • Monty Golf makes it clear that the designers were playing up the "alligator" aspect of Monty's personality, which means that Monty is both patient and aggressive. Sure enough, when you explore his area, you see evidence that Monty is indeed lying in wait for his chance to strike at Freddy and take over the band.
      • Freddy is the one member of the band whose personality is actually stable. Because, unlike the others, his programming isn't in conflict with itself. He's programmed to bond with, entertain, and protect children, and it's exactly what he does.
  • Many fans complain that Monty is a flatter character than the other band members. In-game evidence points to Glamrock Bonnie being the original bassist for the band, while Monty was originally just a mascot to an attraction like the Daycare Assistant is. After Bonnie was decommissioned, Monty was upgraded to his current Glamrock form, which is why he doesn't quite fit in with the rest of the band; he wasn't meant to.
  • The complaint that a child going to the Superstar Daycare and suddenly developing sleeping problems when the lights are turned off indicates that child probably snuck out of the napping area, had a run-in with Moon, and survived that run-in with Moon. In-game, if Gregory gets a Game Over from Moon, Moon is shown just rotating its head and holding up its hands while wriggling its fingers menacingly in Gregory's face. It does not yank Gregory or make any overt violent movements (such as a biting motion). While we don't know what Moon does to Gregory to cause a Game Over, Moon probably doesn't actually kill him, maim him, or cause any physical harm requiring urgent medical help, as the complaint only mentioned sleeping problems. The Daycare Attendant being hard-programmed to not physically hurt its wards applies to even Moon.
  • The number of stars attached to the game's Multiple Endings correspond to the number of characters who got out of the Pizzaplex alive. note
  • Some of Vanessa's therapists in the Retro CDs don't come across as particularly helpful or professional at times, such as fixating more on her alleged misconduct at work, one speaking to her patronizingly as if talking to a young kid rather than an adult, or the last one who directly confronts her over the inaccuracies in her background and employment status at the Pizzaplex even after acknowledging that all of her previous therapists disappeared or died gruesomely and seeing Vanessa/Vanny look amused by the thought of it. Of course, they have been hired by Fazbear Entertainment for their employees — it wouldn't be out of character for Faz Ent to hire a sub-par therapist or even someone barely qualified just to fulfill a quota or for supporting their own agenda.
    • Looking at the numbers on the Retro CD player for each conversation, one realizes that there are two different patients — patient 71, Vanessa, and patient 46, who stays inaudible and is demonstrated to have conflicting personality traits with Vanessa, such as enjoying dark places while Vanessa "hates dark basements". At least for the point regarding them "speaking to her patronizingly as if talking to a child", it's possible that they very well are talking to one, since patient 46's identity is never explicitly revealed.
  • Freddy describing a fountain to Gregory, as funny as it is, does have a potential legitimate purpose. Many virtual assistants such as Amazon's Alexa and Apple's Siri do allow the user to search up definitions and basic trivia using a voice command. So Freddy may have been pre-programmed to pull up information on various subjects that a kid may ask about during their stay at the PizzaPlex (especially because kids do tend to be Constantly Curious), which would not only be an extra way to bond with the characters but also give Fazbear Entertainment an excuse to advertise their attractions as Edutainment.
  • Bonnie and Foxy being Demoted to Extra may be symbolic of Fazbear Entertainment trying to move past the Afton family debacle. Bonnie is, of course, linked to William after all. While not as obvious as his father's connection, Michael is connected to Foxy, seeing as it's very heavily implied he was the older brother in the Foxy mask.
    • Adding onto the above, it represents Fazbear Entertainment trying to move on from the deaths caused by either their animatronics or their CEO. Spring Bonnie, rather obviously, was the Purple Guy's suit, but the Foxy masked Michael was responsible for the Bite of '83 and it's often believed that Mangle was the perpetrator of the Bite of '87. Alongside Bonnie's face also being that of a child killer, Foxies caused the two infamous bites that lead to the company's initial downfall.
  • The damaged Monty's jumpscare animation is unique in that the room suddenly starts spinning around you while he is attacking you. This is because in Real Life, alligators will perform what is known as a "death roll", a maneuver where alligators will bite down on their prey and rapidly rotate their bodies to subdue, incapacitate, dismember and kill their prey quickly. This combines with Fridge Horror very quickly when you realize that unlike the other animatronics who are seen simply grabbing and attacking Gregory, Monty is actually seen actively trying to maim and kill Gregory in a state of unbridled primal rage.
  • Gregory greatly resembles the crying child from Five Night's at Freddy's 4. In that game, there was a Fredbear (aka Golden Freddy) plush that seemed alive and constantly pushed the child forward. Why is this important? Glamrock Freddy's brown color seems between that of his previous brown incarnations and that of Fredbear. Glamrock Freddy is there for Gregory like Plush Fredbear and pushes him forward but can be a threat to him like the prior incarnations of Freddy Fazbear under the right circumstances like the Fredbear animatronic was to the crying child.
  • The parts you dismantle from the animatronics is rather symbolic: you take Chica's beak (what she uses to binge-eat with), Roxanne's eyes (how she admires and is always looking at herself out of vanity), and Monty's claws (a source of his brute strength).
  • If you take Freddy into the endo room, he has an identity crisis and questions whether or not he is unique. At one point, he wonders if there are identical Glamrock Freddies at other pizzerias. While this is a sad moment, there is a Fridge Heartwarming moment you can get from it: If there are identical Glamrock animatronics at other locations, that could mean that there are versions of Monty, Roxy, and Chica who were never corrupted by Afton or his affiliates. There could be Glamrock Bonnies still "alive," and other Monties who never got jealous and scrapped them. If you wish that one of the other animatronics had been Gregory's ally instead of Freddy, you can (probably) take comfort knowing that somewhere in the FNAF world, there are versions of that character who are still just as friendly as they were meant to be.
    • Probably? More like definitely; The books confirm that multiple Pizzaplexes exist.
  • Monty can be stunned once he's damaged from his boss fight and loses his sunglasses, and in fact takes the bright light of the Faz-Cam and Fazblaster worse than any of the others. Either his eyes are extra-sensitive and that's why he has the sunglasses in the first place, or he's caught absolutely off-guard by having bright lights shone in his face without having sunglasses to blunt the glare.
  • Monty being the violently angry one seems to parallel Andrew, the angry ghost-kid in a gator mask from the books.
  • It may be strange to have Roxanne possess a functional sense of smell, but think about it: rather than it referring to her being a canine, she's using this ability to sniff out Gregory in her search for him. Roxy was probably granted olfactory functions so she could locate lost visitors based on scent or as a safety mechanism, such as detecting the smells of body fluids or smoke.
  • If you get spotted by the S.T.A.F.F. Bots, they will grab and jumpscare you, then sound an alarm. Obviously, they do that because, well, it's a Five Nights at Freddy's game, but it is very likely they hold Gregory close to their faces to conduct a facial scan (the same way Freddy does to you in the start of the game) to check if you're a staff member (who would likely be allowed to wander around the building during the night).
  • There might be a reason Mr. Hippo is The Friend Nobody Likes here. In UCN, he was popular for how hilariously annoying his long monologues were. Gags like that tend to be less funny to the characters in-universe sitting through them. If Mr. Hippo is just as chatty with other bots and people as he was in the UCN, we may have our reason for why he's so unpopular. He bores everybody.
  • While Freddy being a good guy is an obvious Meta Twist, Gregory also has elements of this. The early teasers that focused on him highlighted his vulnerability to a significant extent, such as the sound of his sobbing playing in the background of the first trailer. The only major hint of his canon personality is at the very start of the State of Play trailer, which showed the Chica decommissioning but not anything that spoiled the context (you could infer maybe Gregory was responsible, but not how or why). Gregory has a number of parallels with The Crying Child, right down to his appearance. This led fans into believing Gregory was more innocent and vulnerable. The twist comes in when you actually play the game and realize that he's… definitely not the Crying Child. Quite the opposite, really. So, the devs baited longtime fans into thinking Gregory would be just as much a victim, only to reveal in the actual game that he's, well, Gregory, a character who does have his moments of vulnerability but is more assertive. Well played.
  • The name "Five Nights at Freddy's" may just seem like an Artifact Title at first, but there's something important to remember: the multiple endings. Each of the endings represents a night, with the True Ending being Night Six.
  • As much as "Are you having fun yet?" is a meme for being a Broken Record, it actually further hints that Vanessa is Vanny when you take into account her dynamic with Gregory. Vanessa is easily frustrated and has problems with kids, especially if they're trespassing. The voice line first plays right after Vanessa finishes yelling at Gregory in Lost and Found. Vanny also says it in a way that can be interpreted as irritation. While the phrase is used elsewhere, the voice line in context is possibly Vanessa sarcastically taunting one of her would-be victims who has been causing her problems all night.
  • Both the Golden Ending and the Burntrap Ending feature Gregory and Freddy sitting on a hill, watching the sunrise. In the Golden Ending, Freddy's a head and they have Vanny/Vanessa with them, and in the Burntrap Ending, it's just Freddy and Gregory because they never free or rescue Vanny. However, there's also one other difference. In the Golden Ending, Gregory and Vanessa are eating ice cream. Why is it in one ending and not the other? Because it was a treat from Vanessa. In the Burntrap Ending, neither Gregorynote  nor Freddynote  would be able to buy ice cream from anywhere.
  • The reason for Gregory being so hard to kill, unlike other children, might be because he's homeless. He probably has much better survival instincts.
  • In the collectables menu, you can see "frozen treats", which are ice cream that are shaped like the animatronics' heads, with candy or gumballs in place of eyes. Mimicking how these kinds of ice cream look like in real life, the candy-eyes are misaligned on all of the "treats" except for Roxy's, whose eyes are placed in the right place. This makes sense, given how much Roxy cares about her looks- she wouldn't let anything that has her face on it make it look silly or bad! It might also be a reference to the fact that she loses her eyes, which means that she ends up eyeless anyway.
  • Pay attention, and you'll notice that — even before Ruin — Monty and Roxy have a number of similarities, but also enough differences that they can be seen as each other's moral oppositeTo Elaborate. Now take note of how they not only share some of the same voice-linesnote , but on the main Pizzaplex logo, they are located on opposite sides from each other. Gameplay wise they swap roles of being the curveball (immune to stunning), Monty due to his glasses pre-shattering, Roxy due to losing her eyes post-shattering. Coincidence?
  • Chica is the only one of the original 4 to not be replaced, whether it be for unknown reasons like Foxy, or if broken or lost like Freddy or Bonnie. She's the least problematic PR-wise: Freddy is the mascot of the disasterous Fazbear Entertainment and Fredbear bit into the head of a child, killing him. Bonnie is the suit used by the serial killer who tarnished the franchise's image. Foxy is the one animatronic who always seemed to be broken, and him and his iterations like Mangle are suspects of the Bite of '87. That leaves Chica, who has not played a role in any of the deaths or murders in the franchise's history. Additionally, if you subscribe to the theory that Chica's Party World was a separate entity from Fredbear's Family Diner, it makes sense she gets to stay, because she really wasn't part of any of this to begin with. Not having much lore relevance really does pay off.
  • The Roxy Raceway being closed for refurbishment is more than just the same in-universe reason of the sinkhole, it’s because Roxy is kind of a variant of Foxy, and in the first game, Foxy’s attraction, Pirate’s Cove, was out of order.

Ruin DLC

  • When Cassie encounters the Shattered Glamrock Freddy in Fazer Blast, he appears to have the word "prototype" written on his foot. The implication is that this isn't our Glamrock Freddy, but a prototype model that doesn't have the bugs worked out yet.
  • The very premise is of Cassie attempting to save Gregory from the underground level of the Pizzaplex after its destruction — which right away indicates the Golden Ending to be the true ending but leads players into believing a Cerebus Retcon has taken place. It ultimately turns out not to be the case, as Gregory did indeed escape with Freddy, but this shows to prove just how effective the Mimic is: it didn't just fool Cassie, it gaslit the players into doubting themselves, too.
  • When Roxy talks to Cassie towards the end of the game, she speaks in a much more formal voice that's reminiscent of Glamrock Freddy. She occasionally doesn't use contractions and speaks in a more formal way than her "biker babe" character would suggest. Maybe that way of speaking is more common in safe mode than show mode?
  • During the dark ride that shows the backstory for Montgomery Gator (or at least the version Fazbear Entertainment wants its customers to believe), there is a cutout of Monty looking over at the band in awe, with all of them lit up... aside from Freddy. Considering how the base game hid a secret with Freddy in the garbage over in Gator Golf, it's pretty safe to assume that this serves as another hint at Monty's true intentions.
    • That's not the only hint in the ride. The last part of the ride we see before it opens into Catwalks is a cutout of Monty playing the bass with a visual representation of the music taking Freddy's head off. And this is a 3D statue or sculpture of Freddy made in the process of having his head come off, not a wrecked piece of the ride.
  • The Reveal that Gregory wasn't even in the Pizzaplex in the first place is not so surprising in hindsight, as even before the DLC was released, trailer shots of the currently ruined Pizzaplex make it obvious that a good amount of time has passed since the events of the main game. So if the players believe that Gregory and Glamrock Freddy never made it out of the underground Fazbear Diner after the True Ending, they'll also ignore the fact that Gregory wouldn't be able to survive by the time of Ruin as there's no food and water for him to subsist off of for the time being.
    • Going even further when Cassie travels underground into the sinkhole; the idea that Glamrock Freddy is able to dig a tunnel to get himself and Gregory out is plausible due to his Claw Upgrade and the fact that he still has enough power to do so before running out, especially when it's revealed that on the other side of the tunnel, there's a source of groundwater and mushrooms that Gregory could theoretically consume to survive until he could find a way to contact Cassie for help. However, given that the groundwater is located underneath a city, it's possible that it's contaminated and not safe to drink while the mushrooms are obviously poisonous due to them glowing in the dark.
    • On the flip side, the idea of Gregory actually escaping and then later coming back to the Pizzaplex, only to get stuck there "again", is another plausible outcome after the True Ending of the main game. However, another big clue that would be glaringly obvious of Gregory not being there is the simple question of why would he want to return to a place that nearly killed him to begin with, even if the whole building has been gone to ruins?
  • Early on in the game, it's established that The Entity/M.X.E.S will lure animatronics to Cassie's location with a distress beacon to try to halt her from disabling security protocols. Fast-forward to the final confrontation with the Mimic, and the Entity does this one last time: before Cassie can completely shut down the security system, M.X.E.S. calls Roxy into the Mimic's imprisoning chamber in a last-ditch attempt to stop it.
  • Shattered Freddy is notably completely invisible in AR mode, which seems like an odd trait to be unique to him specifically... until you realize he's missing his head, and thus likely missing whatever component keeps track of his endoskeleton in AR. Alternatively, the fact that he's a prototype can mean he was never programmed into the AR vision in the first place.
  • When Cassie is in the Server room in the AR World, she walks through an area with walkways and stairs that are oddly reminiscent of the atrium...and they all are positioned around something that looks oddly like the trunk of an enormous tree. Maybe this is the Storyteller from the books? The "trunk" is even a large stage curtain like the one over Pirate's Cove in the first game.
  • Why is Monty the only Glamrock with no bits of shell left, instead being reduced to an endoskeleton? Obviously, it's to make him look more intimidating, but recall that Monty is a reptile, and reptiles are known for shedding their skin.
  • The fact that Monty can survive in the water (at least until Cassie electrifies it) may seem odd at first, since he's a robot. But then you remember that his attraction, Gator Golf, had actual water in it, including a body of water that he could accidentally fall into. It's not unlikely that Fazbear Entertainment made him waterproof as a precaution.
  • Overlaps with Fridge Heartwarming: according to Roxanne, Cassie's birthday is on the eleventh, which helps Roxy remember the child because in Roxy's words, Cassie is "Number One...twice.". Recall that Roxy's catchphrase is "I'm the best!", which basically means the same thing as "I'm Number One!". At the end of Ruin, it's implied that Cassie and Roxy become a duo similar to Gregory and Freddy, since Roxy saves Cassie and is heard calling her name after the end credits in the Normal Ending. You could say they're Number One...twice!
  • Each of the Ruined Glamrocks' behaviors reflects that of the animal they are based on:
    • Chica Chicken, while still a threat, mostly just wanders aimlessly, eating whatever she can find, going to the intercoms when called, and occasionally sitting down to rest. The player optionally putting her voice box back in her mouth could also be seen as analogous to "feeding" her.
    • Montgomery Gator is the most blatant example: he crawls on the ground and swims in the water, never saying a word, only growling. At this point, he might as well be a real gator.
      • Not just that, the way he looks crawling around with the torn wires from his torso moving like a tail, he does look like a real gator. He does have one line, however. When he jumpscares Cassie out of the pipe, after she screams but before she falls in the water, you can hear Monty go "OM NOM NOM NOM".
    • The Glamrock Freddy Prototype is found lying dormant in Fazer Blast (his "natural habitat" one might say). When Cassie speaks to him, he activates and attacks her. In other words, she awoke the sleeping bear, and is paying the price for it.
    • Roxanne Wolf is initially hostile, mainly at Gregory for stealing her eyes, but is also caring and protective towards Cassie. While wolves can be dangerous, they are also loyal and protective of those they care about, especially their pups, and will fiercely defend them from threats. Case in point: Roxanne fighting the Mimic to protect Cassie.
  • Why does the Mask Bot give Cassie a mask, despite scanning her and thus, should be able to tell that she's not an employee? It's quite likely that it was malfunctioning after being left untouched for so long, especially since it finally deactivates after she takes the mask.
    • Though Help Wanted 2 suggests that Cassie was actually meant to get the mask...
  • Why does Gregory wait to betray Cassie until she's successfully escaped the Mimic and is in the elevator up, even going so far as to guide her away to safety before sending her plummeting to her potential death in the normal ending? Look again at the Mimic's kill screen: It's raising its hand in a way that suggests it's either going to dismember or pummel Cassie to death, and she's still awake to watch it happen. And considering even just what Gregory and Cassie know about and experience firsthand in the Pizzaplex, it's not impossible that the Mimic would do something even worse to Cassie afterwards. A death caused by plummeting several dozen feet to the bottom of an elevator shaft would still be terrifying, but it's much likelier that Cassie would either die on impact or be rendered mercifully unconscious, making Gregory's betrayal more of a Mercy Kill.

    Fridge Horror
  • The one-star ending shows Gregory sleeping inside a box in an alleyway using a newspaper as a blanket, which can be interpreted as him either being or having become a Homeless Hero. If he was already, this makes a significant amount of the game Harsher in Hindsight. Keeping in mind how the game starts, the fact that Gregory doesn't have a guest profile (meaning he didn't enter the Pizzaplex as a normal guest), his surprising amount of resourcefulness for a child his age, and his ruthlessness when dealing with others who have hurt him, there's a strong possibility that Gregory is a disadvantaged child who has already learned how to fend for himself. This may be how and why he was targeted: he might not have a home to go back to, so it'd be less likely someone would look for him, and it'd be easier to lure him with the promise of resources. It also makes the assorted comments about his family and friends, as well as Roxanne stating that nobody will miss him, so much worse. Fortunately, some endings allow Freddy to come with Gregory, making him a sort of a Parental Substitute.
  • The one-star ending also sees Freddy remaining in the Pizzeria, which remains under Vanny's control. Needless to say, Freddy's possible fates are quite grim; he will either be gotten rid of and replaced with a new Freddy, or reprogrammed to obey her orders like the rest of the animatronics.
  • Examining the animatronics' behavior makes something clear: they don't just have human levels of intelligence or processing, but also the full capability to develop the equivalent of mental illness and psychological distress. Roxanne is a Narcissist who constantly praises and reassures herself to prevent herself from breaking down when things don't go her way. Monty has full-on anger issues. Chica isn't just a Big Eater, but is desperate enough for food that she digs out of the trash, damages her body, and expels waste from her mouth in a way that's highly evocative of disordered eating. The Daycare Attendant sounds and acts legitimately pained when the lights go off and it's about to transform into the Moon state, and when it transforms back to Sun, it flips on Gregory, bans him from the Daycare, and summons security. The fact that not only are they capable of experiencing mental/emotional pain, but also many of the animatronics have recurring issues, has some horrifying implications.
    • Just the fact that Fazbear Entertainment has managed to essentially create human-level AI and all they can think to do with it is force them to staff their restaurants is disturbing on numerous levels.
      • It might not be the case of wasting potential on technology, but more like how it's so commonplace that restaurants use them. Remember, there are hints that Security Breach takes place in the future, probably around 2030. So it can technically count as 20 Minutes in the Future.
    • This leads to more horrific implications when Vanessa was going to have P&S remove and scrap Freddy's endoskeleton, then replace it. By scooping his endoskeleton, it would essentially be destroying the feeling and thinking consciousness of that specific Freddy.
    • Freddy can also attack Gregory on low power and upon failing the Simon Says Minigame. This is obviously not how he acts normally. Remember that part of Sister Location where Circus Baby talks about losing control and luring Elizabeth to be killed without knowing the reason why, clearly confused by what happened? From his likely perspective, he suddenly snapped and attacked the child he was just protecting over something fairly minor. The psychological aftermath of something like that would be devastating.
    • Developing an Inferiority Superiority Complex, destructive rage fits, and binge-eating are all common symptoms of ongoing emotional pain in real life. Since Vanny was tampering with them, it's possible the animatronics recognize that they are not acting the way they should and, like a human would in such a situation, react in maladaptive ways based on their programmed personalities. Roxanne, a confident and competitive tomboy, becomes more self-centered and prone to constantly reminding herself of her own worth. Monty, The Big Guy, lashes out and destroys his surroundings. Chica, a comedic Big Eater, tries to numb her pain with food.
    • On another note, this also makes the fact that Gregory eventually mutilates the other animatronics even more horrifying in hindsight. The fact that their pain is very real makes it ultra unnerving, especially since they don't have any real say in their mission to get Gregory.
    • It's implied that Roxanne's narcissism is a result of having to be the replacement to Foxy, who was very popular with kids. Assuming the other animatronic lines made around this time had A.I. like this, this gets even more disturbing. Remember the Toy animatronics that couldn't live up to the originals, got scrapped and replaced? Remember how Toy Bonnie in Special Delivery has an ego problem that can rival Roxy's?
    • It gets even worse when you consider Mangle, the previous Foxy replacement. His existence ultimately consisted of getting taken apart and put back together haphazardly, then getting scrapped after the Bite of 87 (possibly being the perpetrator). Listen to some of her voice lines with the possibility that he could be just as alive as the Glamrocks in mind.
"Why was I made only to fall apart like this?"
    • If this is the kind of A.I. these animatronics can develop, it makes one ask a lot of questions. We've known for a long while that Freddy and the gang were far more sentient than a normal stage-animatronic should be, but how sentient have they been up until this point? The Withereds and then the Toys getting scrapped? The Crying Child considering the animatronics his friends? Did the Puppet know it was killing itself by saving Charlie in that rainy alley? Mr. Hippo going on dull, long tangents that really don't seem fit to entertain kids? How much of what Baby said was Elizabeth and how much was Baby? Was Spring Bonnie aware he was being used as an instrument for murder? So many questions resurfaced all because Chica now has an eating disorder…
    • Look at the way Vanessa consistently treats Freddy. She is introduced harshly reprimanding him over what essentially amounts to an on-stage accident that he needs to recover from. Later, she confines him in a partially disassembled state and threatens to scoop him, then intentionally leaves him in that state as he begs her not to. Such cruelty can be explained by Vanessa being brainwashed into being Afton's copycat killer. However, when you take into account the dismissive way the animatronics are treated in the notes, the swift replacement of Bonnie (and Freddy in one ending), and the way animatronics have been treated elsewhere in the franchise, then it becomes more disturbing. Vanessa may not be an outlier and horrific treatment by human staff happens on the regular without the excuse of being Brainwashed and Crazy. This, among many other factors, may contribute to the animatronics' apparent issues.
    • Mazercise's premise is, essentially, that you exercise so you can eat more junk food ("Work off the calories while you eat!"). While it's played as Fazbear Entertainment trying to awkwardly justify selling junk food to children, it only increases the disordered eating themes involving Chica. A common symptom is 'binge-eating', or consuming large amounts of food, then 'purging' it out through means such as vomiting, abusing medication, or, well, excessive exercise. In other words, Chica is likely exposed day-in-day-out to something that would be an ED trigger for a human. Lord only knows how that influences her programming…
  • The three-star ending has Vanessa escaping the clutches of Glitchtrap's control, with her celebrating by eating ice cream with Freddy and Gregory outside the Pizzaplex. However, she has still done horrifying things that will probably have legal and/or occupational consequences once people start to connect her to them, as well as likely long-standing trauma from the things she was made to do. She might not be out of the woods just yet.
  • Speaking of Vanessa, there's the mindscrew two-star ending where Freddy makes a Heroic Sacrifice to kill Vanny, showing Vanessa overlooking her own dead body somehow. This has led to some speculation that the two are different individuals — were it not for the Golden Ending reaffirming Vanessa having been Vanny. So, how does one explain this ending? That's where the horror comes in. The Golden Ending can only be achieved by playing the Princess Quest games in order, which allows Gregory to access the locked vault from Help Wanted where Glitchtrap trapped Vanessa to take over her body. In short, that’s her ghost. Vanessa's consciousness is trapped in the PizzaPlex — and killing her Brainwashed and Crazy body only succeeds in trapping the real Vanessa in that limbo forever.
  • If you thought that Freddy losing control and attacking Gregory when he runs out of power or during maintenance is bad, him killing you in the True Ending will be even worse because the Big Bad Afton corrupted him and forced him to attack and kill Gregory, that young boy he was so fond of, almost fatherly to, even. That would really haunt him for existence if that's the case, it will very likely be his worst fear come true. Another interpretation of this might be that Burntrap corrupted him to make him kill Gregory so that he will stop controlling him after he did the act, forcing him to realize what he had done, causing him to suffer from the huge grief from it because he couldn't save Gregory from this fate nor he could stop himself, and then kicking him while he's down by sending the others to destroy him and kill him as well. While he's still grieving. William Afton, you are a monster.
  • The implication that Monty likely decommissioned Glamrock Bonnie considering the last time he was seen was when he wandered into Monty's Gator Golf. Considering how the animatronics in this game seem to be full-on sapient, and how Glamrock Bonnie disappeared before Vanny showed up, this implies that Monty was already a murderer before Vanny reprogrammed the animatronics to hunt people after hours. To make matters worse, it's further implied in-game that Monty wants to take Freddy's position as the head of that band. Freddy is still friendly towards Monty and misses Bonnie enough that he doesn't come to Bonnie Bowl anymore, but doesn't realize that the other guy in the band that he's friends with not only might have killed Bonnie, but could also aspire to kill him as well.
    • If Monty really did murder Bonnie, then that leaves a whole lot of other disturbing implications; namely, that Freddy, Chica, and Roxy have been performing onstage with a murderer for who knows how long, and that Chica and Roxy both live next door to said murderer, which is a very, very real fear, even if they are robots in an entertainment complex. It gets worse; while Monty is implied to be an in-universe Replacement Scrappy for Bonnie, there have to have been at least a few kids — especially older ones — who liked Monty; he is, after all, a big, ferocious reptile with sharp teeth. Any children — however few — who liked Monty, played golf with him, drew pictures of him, got his autograph, bought merchandise of him and took it home, possibly even clinging to their Monty plushies in bed to feel safe, and may have even wanted to be like him when they grow up and even preferred him over Bonnie. They were idolizing and playing with a murderer. All the people who cheered for Monty onstage, especially during the intro cutscene. They were cheering for a murderer. All the posters and cutouts of Monty around the Pizzaplex along with the other Glamrocks. The giant hologram of him onstage. His face plastered around the Superstar Daycare, above the front-door exit, and especially on the logo for the Pizzaplex itself. All of this iconography, merchandise, and the like is (possibly) in dedication to a MURDERER!!! A murderer who has been living at the Pizzaplex and hanging around children! All of this was originally Bonnie's, but he's long gone now, and if Monty really is responsible, then that means he took what was rightfully Bonnie's, just to get famous. It's like Ernesto De La Cruz if he was a robotic rock musician. On the plus side, this would also mean that Gregory actually did the right thing by decommissioning Monty, even if he didn't know beforehand.
    • There's also the fact that Foxy is oddly around, but not really. Kid's Cove exists but has no Foxy in it even though Kid's Cove was Toy Foxy/Mangle's territory previously and Pirate's Cove was Foxy's. Was Foxy decommissioned by Monty too, just a long time ago? Does this also mean that Monty framed Bonnie and possibly Foxy for things he himself has done? Because they obviously just keep fixing and repairing Monty (he apparently keeps going up above Monty Golf), so clearly Bonnie did something to get decommissioned — did Bonnie get framed for trying to do away with Monty?
      • The Ruin DLC finally answers those questions: Bonnie was indeed murdered! His corpse can be found inside the ruined Pizzaplex. His head shattered by what seems to be a nasty shock, his back, legs and arms broken as if he has fallen from a great height. And more importantly a hole in his chest with nasty claw marks! Indeed if not certain until now, Monty did kill Bonnie and took his place in the band. To give more credit to that theory, Bonnie's claws are missing from his hands and are now in possession of Monty that he uses as stated in the security logs, to play the guitar better.
      • The implication that sapient AI not only exists, but is apparently capable of committing as heinous a crime as murder, without any tampering, when it was created for the sole purpose of entertaining children!
      • The books confirm multiple Pizzaplexes exist, suggesting there may be Montys at them who didn't scrap their respective Bonnies. Problem is, how do we know for sure that the Monty we know in-game isn't an outlier when it comes to attacking his fellow animatronics? If one Monty can scrap his peer(s) without Glitchtrap, then so can the others. How many of these Montys have ambitions similar to our Monty? How many of them have offed a fellow Glamrock, just for a taste of fame? How many of them got away with it? How many of them seek to usurp their respective Glamrock Freddy as well, and how many of them succeeded?
      • Even worse, this isn't necessarily restricted to just Monty. Any one of the Glamrocks at any location can potentially turn murderous of their own free will, if only towards each other. For all we know, each member of the original Glamrock Band (including Bonnie) has at least one Evil Counterpart at another Pizzaplex who may have also killed one or more of their colleagues for any number of reasons!
      • This all becomes a lot worse when you recall that Freddy and Chica both have a bowling ball in their room to remember Bonnie by, which means Chica misses him as well. That, and some have speculated that Bonnie's decommissioning played a role in the development of Roxy's insecurities. If you believe that's true, then Monty is quite possibly responsible (albeit indirectly) for at least some of the emotional pain/stress of his fellow bandmates, and he seemingly doesn't care!!!
  • The other good endings where Gregory escapes with Freddy aren't free of unfortunate details, either. With the bad ending heavily implying that Gregory is homeless if he escapes with Freddy, then that also means he not only has to look after himself but Freddy as well. Freddy himself would also be considered stolen property by Fazbear Entertainment, so they would have to evade the cops while finding food for Gregory and power for Freddy.
    • The worst part about these endings is that nothing Gregory or Freddy changed anything. Regardless of this game's outcome, there will still be a Freddy's in that location. It will still be run by the same cheap, corrupt, and incompetent management. Their ongoing efforts to cover up and ignore the horrific things taking place in their facilities will lead to more lives being lost, both human and animatronic.
      • There is one ending where the PizzaPlex gets set on fire…
    • Considering how quickly Fazbear Entertain adds Glamrock Mr. Hippo to the band after Freddy goes missing (from their perspective) and how they simply replaced Glamrock Bonnie with Monty after the former was suddenly and unexpectedly decommissioned, Fazbear Entertainment may have simply written Glamrock Freddy off as a loss and moved on. None of the endings show any signs of Fazbear Entertainment attempting to find Freddy, similar to how nothing suggests that the corporate entity tried to repair Glamrock Bonnie.
    • Which adds another layer of horror to the above-mentioned issue of Fazbear Entertainment using fully sapient AI as mere entertainment for children: not only are they wasting the potential of their technology, but since the protocol for "animatronic broken or missing" is "let's just put a new one in its place", Fazbear may not even consider their robots sentient even in the face of evidence, but just machines to build, discard, and replace. While Vanessa's clear disrespect of Freddy could be justified by her being Vanny, it seems she's just following the company standard, and this makes Freddy's existential crisis when facing the Glamrock Endos hit even harder.
  • The emergency fire escape at the top of the building is off-limits to non-VIPs, meaning anyone else attempting to use it in the event of a fire would be doomed.
    • Lampshaded in-game. Freddy points out this hazard to Gregory in-game and files a formal complaint about it.
  • One of the posters visible in the backstage areas promotes social distancing. Given that one ending shows that the PizzaPlex couldn't have been built until well after Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria Simulator, which itself was set in at least 2023, this suggests that the COVID-19 Pandemic may have lasted for a long time in this universe without decreasing in intensity — especially given that Fazbear Entertainment shows a total lack of regard for safety and health concerns elsewhere, as shown above, and wouldn't normally bother unless it was important. At least we can infer that it's abated now if it's safe(-ish) to have people gather in large crowds again.
    • It's honestly depressingly more likely that it's Real Life Writes the Plot, as despite the pandemic still raging as of March 2023, it's being swept under the rug and ignored and crowds are still gathering even as people get sick and die. This also makes it a bizarre case of irony, as Freddy Fazbear's promotes social distancing when many real places don't bother anymore.
  • In the ending where Vanny is 'disassembled' by the S.T.A.F.F Bots, The Stinger shows that the PizzaPlex is shut down due to 'health concerns'. Seems weirdly unrelated to the rest of the ending until you realize that those 'health concerns' would be referring to the discovery of a (gruesomely dismembered) dead body in the building… which in turn leads to the implication that Fazbear Entertainment covered up Vanny's death. Since if the body was properly reported, then that would be the headlines, but instead, it seems Fazbear Entertainment is still quite willing to conceal deaths on their property.
    • That's not even taking into account how she died. While we don't see her get 'disassembled' nor the aftermath due to a Shadow Discretion Shot, Freddy's is a bit more detailed in that it shows the amount of damage, which is not insignificant. The cleanup crew could potentially be working overtime to remove whatever's left that may barely look like a body by that point, as well as the probable amount of blood coating the floor and walls.
  • In the True Ending path, just before falling through the floorboards closing off the path to where Burntrap is dormant, you encounter the absolute horror that is only referred to in the game's files as The Blob. A story-high mess of tubing, wires, and cords that, upon closer examination, has other animatronics broken apart inside it. Get too close or get caught by the tentacles, and you find out that it seems to have no problem going for humans as well. Now, none of this is the fridge aspect. The fridge aspect comes in upon remembering the messages in Roxy Raceway saying that a team of people came down here but never came back. Now, there are clear signs of excavation as far as the hidden pizzeria beneath the building. However, the floorboard covering up where Springtrap is hidden is undisturbed. The last thing before that… is The Blob. It's very probable that there's an entire squad of ground-up human corpses inside that mountainous mass just like the assimilated animatronics.
    • For an added bonus, equipment was embezzled from the PizzaPlex down the secret path to where Afton is — including an entire Charging Station that he is revived in. Only Vanny could've been the one to bring these things down here, meaning she knew that not only an undead Serial Killer, but this colossus was one elevator trip away from a building full of children.
    • Afton's new ability to possess other animatronics adds another layer of horror to the Blob's presence next to Afton's hideout: was Vanny unaware about this bunch of old animatronics being still active and aggressive, or was part of the plan all along for Afton to possess what amounts to a mechanical kaiju?
  • Sun never seriously attacks Gregory. Unlike the other named animatronics, including Freddy, the game doesn't contain any "death" screens featuring Sun. The worst Sun does is return Gregory to a particular spot when the latter wanders off, yell at him, and ban him from the daycare. As the fun Day Attendant to small children who may still be having violent temper tantrums, Sun was likely never programmed to be aggressive under any circumstances, especially in retaliation, and probably has several extra safeguards built-in to keep it from attacking children. It does, however, seem to have an obsession with cleaning and doing certain "fun" activities, is overly friendly, is pushy to the point of being overbearing, and tends to stay way too close to Gregory. Sun also seems to yell a lot, but the yelling mainly starts after Gregory breaks the daycare's one rule and turns off the lights. These negative traits might be the result of Vanny trying to make Sun attack children. Instead, Sun might be doing all it can to resist being violent towards children and protect them, which would also help explain its pained reaction to the lights being off. Sun probably knows that Moon has traumatized at least one child and is trying to keep Moon away from them, despite Sun likely being altered itself.
    • Sun's fear of the lights going out and his futile attempts to stop his mode-switch when they do worryingly implies he might be fully aware of what Moon is doing even when he's not the one in control. The Ruin DLC seems to confirm this. Not only does Sun speak directly to Cassie through the AR mask while Moon is in control, but ambient dialogue can be heard from Sun in AR mode as well, even though he's just singing to himself rather than trying to reach out.
  • Had Moon not taken the unconscious, damaged Freddy to Parts and Services (the hospital for animatronics), then Freddy probably wouldn't have gotten there. Freddy is big, made mostly of metal, and is probably too heavy for Gregory to transport by himself. Freddy is also in an unusual spot, and the other animatronics are nowhere in sight. Vanessa might have stumbled upon him as she searched the building, but, considering that she ditches Freddy halfway through the repairs, she might have just left him there. As Freddy is Gregory's greatest ally in this game, losing him would have made Gregory's survival highly unlikely.
  • The Retro CDs reveal that the company's therapists have a High Turnover Rate due to them disappearing or dying in mysterious circumstances, implying either Glitchtrap or Vanny (or whoever the mysterious Patient 46 is) is killing them for getting too close to the truth. These same CDs also mention a 'Luis', presumably the same Luis from Special Delivery. Since he's another person who'd know too much, he might have found himself in a bit of trouble at some point after his last email…
  • Vanessa will react to being flashed with the Fazcam and even react to being shot with the Fazer Blaster, and considering the health warnings when going to Fazer Blast…
  • More like Fridge Depression. The room that the Daycare Attendant first appears from is completely different from the Superstar Daycare and seems to exist in stark contrast to the Daycare Attendant's usual behavior. Despite Sun and Moon both being neat freaks, the room is dirty from top to bottom and, by the large spider webs that Sun and Moon could probably reach via wires, it hasn't been cleaned in a long time. Even the toys, pieces of endoskeletons, and broken security robots (that are present for some reason) are filthy. The room is also poorly lit, which could mean that only Moon is active in there, and, if this place is where the Daycare Attendant resides when no one is around, then Sun never experiences a break as Sun. It is probably worth noting that the golden Moon figure is found here, but not the golden Sun figure.
    • The only area that seems relatively lived in is the area with the arcade machine past the blue tube, which features a particularly dirty broken robot and drawings looking like a child drew them. The drawings do not feature the Daycare Attendant in any way. The main room has plushies of Sun and Moon, but they are thrown on the floor like the other toys there. The fact the room is like this at all indicates that the Daycare Attendant only cares about what its wards experience and does not care for itself much at all. The staff don't seem to care about it and the room much either, as no one has bothered to clean it.
    • Only Moon being active in the Daycare Attendant's room (and Sun never getting a break) is seemingly confirmed, as for a few frames and at a distance, when Sun first emerges from its room, it lacks its normal "rays" around its face, heavily implying that the Daycare Attendant had just switched from Moon to Sun, despite the Superstar Daycare being well-lit before Gregory encountered the Daycare Attendant.
  • The Daycare Attendant wears bells on its wrists and ankles. For Sun, they probably allow blind children to find it. For Moon, Moon has adapted its movement to avoid alerting others of its presence. In real life, having a cat wear a bell will eventually make it incredibly stealthy and quiet compared to an un-belled cat, and something similar probably has happened with Moon. It is quiet and avoids making noise with the bells even when flying through the air.
  • The Blob, made up of numerous different animatronics ranging from the original band to the Puppet to the Funtimes. It's unclear what it is, but its state kind of brings to mind what Henry said to the animatronics when he burnt the place to the ground. He told the animatronics to give up the souls inside them. It's possible the fire did indeed free the children's souls, but not the animatronics housing them…
  • Freddy's existential crisis in Parts and Service gets worse when you consider an official statement that the Glamrocks are going to show up in Five Nights at Freddy's AR: Special Delivery at some point. Or, to put it another way? That monologue about being mass-produced isn't just a fear, but a reality. And given the game's mechanics, there's a low chance that the other Glamrock Freddies are just as friendly as ours…
    • However, this may have been subverted, if this Reddit post is anything to go by. Seems the Glamrocks won't be added, after all.
  • The number of stars tied to each ending reflect how many of the characters survived by the end, but as seen in the Fire Escape ending, there could be more characters that survived than we expected. The stars don't necessarily account for animatronics or animatronic-adjacent characters either, as the one-star ending would actually be two stars, as both Gregory and Freddy survive. Still think the good ending is good? What about the true ending? Perhaps some things are best left forgotten for now.
  • The Retro CDs allude to Vanessa possibly having a Dark and Troubled Past involving an Abusive Dad. It's also mentioned that she's very good at following orders, most likely in part due to her trauma. Several times she mentions that she 'was supposed to be a good girl' and that she tries to do what she was 'supposed' to do in a quiet voice. In Retro CD 11 Vanessa straight up freaks out when asked about her ordering fake fur, saying that 'he told me he would always be watching,' to which her therapist thinks is about her dad. Her dad's name was also apparently 'Bill.' If she's telling the truth about her dark past, it raises the disturbing possibility that William is intentionally triggering her by evoking memories of a similarly named abuser in order to get her to do what he wants. Yikes.
    • Some have interpretted her whole father story as William projecting his own life on her, since one of the therapists does some research and finds that Vanessa's father was fine.note  Forcing children to lie and getting them in a divorce, abusing them, it sounds like something William would do, and if it's true, the fact that he has the gall to force Vanessa to use it as a fake Freudian Excuse is repulsive even for him.
  • There's a hidden detail in this game that seems to confirm some horrific theories and implications that have gone around the fandom for ages. A bunch of S.T.A.F.F. Bots set up like a family at a table, one in a staff outfit, one dressed like a father, one resembling Ballora, one resembling Baby, and one missing its head. They're a replica of the Afton Family. Considering who's running the underground area you find this in, this may very well make things very clear...
    • To get the obvious out of the way, the mother-bot resembles Ballora, all but outright confirming a common theory. Yes, William Afton's wife was among the souls trapped in his Funtime animatronics. Meaning she was among the animatronics attacking her own son in "Sister Location".
    • The bot dressed as a staff member is Michael, who was implied, and seemingly confirmed here, to be serving as an employee in numerous locations. While that may not be as shocking as the Ballora one given it was already known, the fact that there's another bot with a missing head implies that, yes, he really is the brother from "FNAF 4", the one who unwittingly murdered his own little brother. And unlike his mother and sister, his bot gives no indication here of what became of him beyond losing his frontal lobe.
    • And if William did have this little display depicting his family's horrid fates set up, then considering the kind of person he is, it's not some sad memorial of the life he lost, it's a twisted mockery of some of the people he hurt the most.
  • In the True Ending, The Stinger shows Gregory and Freddy watching the sunrise on a hill together. Sounds heartwarming, but then you realize that Freddy's battery is going to run out eventually, and unless it was just the underground pizzeria that burned down and not the entire Pizzaplex, there probably aren't any functioning recharge stations for him to return to, meaning he only has a limited amount of time left with Gregory, the latter of whom is implied to be homeless...
    • However, this seems to have been subverted with this teaser, which shows the Pizzaplex still intact (albeit in ruins), and that Gregory and Freddy either never really escaped, or they did, but went back for unknown reasons. The fact that Chica is still alive could also imply that the recharge stations are still working, as well.
      • Any and all recharge stations seen in the Ruin DLC appear to be damaged, but still functional. A recharge station lying on the ground in front of the Cupcake Shoppe and heavily leaking battery acid was still capable of recharging Chica sufficiently for prolonged pursuits and searches, as prior to this, she was only capable of traveling short distances before entering rest mode to conserve power, and is first seen in the Cupcake Shoppe in a deactivated state, likely due to exhausting her already-depleted battery while searching for Cassie on M.X.E.S.'s orders.
  • It's implied (or at least speculated) that Roxanne is actually projecting her own insecurities onto Gregory when she insults him. As stated above, one of her voice-lines is "Nobody will miss you!". If she really is projecting...
  • Whatever you think happened to Glamrock Bonnie, there's a theory suggesting that his endoskeleton was used to create Burntrap. If that's true, then that means when Freddy sees Burntrap on the screen in the True Ending, he's looking at not just the being who turned his other friends into murderers, but also what is essentially the skeletal, zombified remains of his best friend, completely overtaken by a malevolent ghost!
  • An analysis of Chica's post-decommission audio raises the possibility that she's trying to say specific things, such as demanding her beak back and calling Gregory an idiot. If true, then it's not just random noises, it's Chica attempting to vocalize pain and distress.
  • At the bottom of the Blob, an endoskeleton can be seen. However unlike all the other animatronics, said endoskeleton is more than just a head, it's an entire waist-up body, and the endoskeleton's position suggests it's desperately trying to pull itself out of the Blob's body, indicating the animatronics are far from happy with their new form.
  • One for Ruin: The equipment we find to interact with the M.X.E.S. System is clearly Vanny's, and the Mimic itself is locked away where Vanny would have rebuilt Burntrap. So if the Mimic is meant to be Glitchtrap, why would Vanny lock it away? Worse yet, if the Mimic's locked away, what tunneled out of Freddy Fazbear's Pizza Place?
    • Obviously the Blob, considering it's in the Pizzaplex proper during Ruin. But the Mimic might be able to escape that way if the main elevator is still functional.
  • Here's a smaller one: while exploring a utility tunnel, Cassie can find a room full of Plushbabies, which give off small giggles. Turn your back on them for a second however, and they'll disappear, and tally marks can be seen on the walls. They were trapped in that room, and we just released them.
  • Truth be told, it's possible that Roxy's voice after the credits in Ruin isn't even the real deal, but rather the Mimic. By isolating the audio during the fight between Roxy and the Mimic, it's revealed that the Mimic had gained access to Roxy's voice during the fight, and while its voice has a slight mechanical stutter to it, due to both the line being short and Roxy already being an animatronic with the same voice filter, there's not a lot for it to be noticeable. If the Mimic is the one calling out to Cassie, then the Downer Ending is going to get a whole lot worse for the girl.
  • The pizzaplex seems to have been undergoing a restoration, but from the faded and wrecked looks of the construction equipment and maintenance banners, there haven't been any workers at the building for a while. Then you notice a message scrawled on a dead monitor: "DON'T GO IN ALONE..." After this, as you travel through the ruined attractions and tunnels, you notice things that wouldn't be part of the rebuilding: boarded up doors, painted warnings of the ruined animatronics, and more. What happened to stop the repairs of the pizzaplex?
