Trivia / Five Nights at Freddy's: Security Breach

Subpages:

  • Acting for Two:
    • Gregory, voiced by Marta Svetek, has to avoid Roxanne Wolf and Vanny, both also played by Marta Svetek.
    • During the daycare segment, the Daycare Attendant's Sun personality (Kellen Goff) panics after the lights go out before being taken over by the sinister Moon personality (Kellen Goff) and disappears into the darkness. Immediately after that, you get a call from Freddy (Kellen Goff) telling you he knows the lights have gone out in the daycare and not to let Moon find you. All three of Kellen Goff's characters, all speaking right after each other.
    • Vanessa mentions alerting the other animatronics, but also has an unused line of dialogue where she refers to the other three Glamrocks by name, including Glamrock Chica. Both of them are played by Heather Masters.
  • Christmas Rushed: While unconfirmed, some fans suspect that Steel Wool rushed the game out to market to hit the 2021 Christmas deadline after missing its original Q4 2020 release date. Evidence for this includes how the story itself feels rushed and unpolished; some dialogue coming out of nowhere, such as Gregory mentioning there would be more disappearances if he left at 6 am, despite not finding any evidence in-game to suggest this; all but one of the endings playing out over an animated comic instead of a 3D cutscene; a lot of unused content; and a long list of game-breaking and softlock bugs, plus a multitude of comparably smaller errors upon release. Additionally, the game is not compressed, explaining its giant 80 GB file size. note
  • Crossdressing Voices: Gregory is voiced by actress Marta Svetek.
  • Defictionalization:
    • The PAX West booth for Help Wanted 2 featured an actual animatronic of the Daycare Attendant / Eclipse, albeit peeking from the vent, tilting its head, occasionally moving its fingers, and emitting the jumpscare noise. Props based on stuff in the game, such as the Faz-Wrench, Security Mask, and Roxy Talky were also present for the booth, designed by DaRegularSauce.
    • While Funko and Youtooz made plushies of the Glamrocks in their respective styles, Sanshee would go on to create more game-accurate ones.
  • Delayed Release Tie-In: Thanks to the game's delays, the Funko plushies based on characters of the game were released long before the game itself was given a release date. Details of the plushies were also leaked months before they were released, revealing the names of five characters (Glamrock Freddy, Glamrock Chica, Montgomery Gator, Roxanne Wolf, and Vanny).
  • Development Gag:
    • The original concept of a security guard being Gregory's guide is referenced in one of the trailers, which falsely paints Vanessa as Gregory's protector.
    • The ending comic strips Cassie can find in Ruin are based off the original storyboards for each of the game's endings.
  • Follow the Leader: After the sequel to Alien: Isolation turned out to be a Five Nights at Freddy's clone, the latest entry in the FNaF series turns into Alien: Isolation.
  • Meme Role Reprise: Kellen Goff, the voice actor of Glamrock Freddy, has recorded himself reading a joke tweet where Freddy asks Gregory if he's familiar with Among Us before encouraging him to use a vent in-character. He even expands upon the joke by providing an alibi for Gregory's sus behavior.
Freddy: Gregory, do you see the small vent on the floor? Have you ever heard of Among Us, Gregory? You need to vent. I know it will be hard for you to be sus, but I know you can do it, Gregory. I will just say we were both in Security watching the cameras. It is partly true. lmao ggs ez.
  • Orphaned Reference:
    • At the beginning of the game, Freddy suddenly rushes Gregory to a first aid station. Early voicelines for this scene state the reason this happens is because Freddy detects blood from Gregory cutting his arm while crawling through a vent. The finalized dialogue is altered to downplay Gregory's injuries and has Freddy simply claim Gregory is "broken"; without the cut context, it just comes off as something of a Non Sequitur.
    • The Chica's Feeding Frenzy minigame is only available in the Ruin DLC, but has at least one message hinting it to be playable in the base game, similarly to the ones for Monty Golf, Balloon World, and Princess Quest; as the minigame cannot be played naturally in the base game, it has no meaning.
    • Hacking to get the unused Survival Mode to work reveals the mode was scrapped just after the map was changed and a few things were not correctly changed in response. For instance, some randomly spawned wind-up boxes seem to hover over the ground where something was once there, or even clip into other items, and the Party S.T.A.F.F. Bots seem to be placed around to guard former entrances that were scrapped from the game.
    • Freddy has a lighter built-in to his finger, which in the final version is revealed out of nowhere during the VIP ending. He has unused dialogue where he offhandedly mentions it, explaining that it's used to light birthday candles and make crème brûlée.
"My finger doubles as a lighter. You know, for birthday candles. And crème brûlée!"
    • The achievement/trophy for finding every collectable is named 'Very Important Person', with its description also drawing attention to the VIP term. In the game files, you can actually discover an unused VIP room taking the form of an adult-oriented nightclub and lounge, along with lines for a Staffbot which would've stood guard outside and prevent you from entering. Going by these details, it appears that access to the VIP room was originally intended as a reward for 100% completion.
    • Glamrock Chica's hologram in the atrium when the showtime disc is inserted to unlock the elevator to Parts and Service shows her guitar to have a striped design that isn't present on the guitar she has in the game's intro and when Gregory briefly observes her from the vents at the start of the game. Unused textures indicate the striped guitar was the one she was originally going to play, but that it was cut and replaced with its current model, leaving only the hologram version unchanged.
    • Glamrock Freddy is shown mouthing words in the cutscene where the S.T.A.F.F. Bots disassemble him. This was because an early version of that scene in a pre-release PS4 build had him shout "Gregory, run!" at the moment the S.T.A.F.F. Bots pushed him into a fall.
  • The Original Darrin: After being recast to Tim Simmons in Five Nights at Freddy's AR: Special Delivery, Freddy is now voiced by Kellen Goff, his original voice actor from the Showtime song in Help Wanted, in the On Tour! episodes.
  • The Other Darrin:
    • Vanny was originally voiced in Help Wanted by Jessica Tang, and her voice can briefly be heard in the original Security Breach trailer, but in the actual game, as originally teased by Freddy & Friends: On Tour!, she was recast to Marta Svetek.
    • The second big trailer for the game featured voicelines for William Afton, who never speaks in the actual game, that sound different from his usual voice actor P. J. Heywood. Matthew Curtis (who voiced Nightmare BB and Music Man in Ultimate Custom Night) was revealed to have recorded these lines via a tweet.
    • Chica was originally voiced by Amber Lee Connors in the Showtime song in Help Wanted, but the Freddy & Friends: On Tour! episodes feature Chica making cluck-like noises, the sounds of which are also made by Glamrock Chica, voiced by Heather Masters, when she is stunned with a Fazerblaster or Faz-Camera, implying Heather Masters was the one who voiced Chica in those episodes.
    • Whatever text to speech program is voicing Candy Cadet, it’s not the one he had in his debut game.
  • Promoted Fanboy: Cosplayer DaRegularSauce, known for his very accurate costumes of Glamrock Freddy and the original Freddy Fazbear, was hired by Steel Wool Studios as a "creature fabricator and designer", designing several accurate props based on items in Ruin and even being featured in several promotional YouTube shorts made by Steel Wool for PAX West.
  • Refitted for Sequel:
    • In the base game, the voiceline "Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, Fazbear Entertainment would like you to put your hands together for the one, the only, Freddy Fazbear!" which plays in the intro sequence was originally the introduction for the cut showtime sequence in Help Wanted, before being reused in Security Breach (and thus, while still done by Andy Field, is now spoken by DreadUnit rather than HandUnit).
    • Files in Security Breach show additional levels for Monty Golf, as well as an entirely scrapped mini game for Chica. In Ruin, these were properly implemented, though Chica's Feeding Frenzy received an overhaul as the original iteration was unpolished and unfinished.
    • Various game files and the Steam art for Security Breach hint that Freddy was supposed to become Shattered like the other Glamrocks and turn against Gregory, before it was decided to keep him good. In Ruin, a modified design of Shattered Freddy serves as a brief antagonist, now being a headless prototype, itself a reference to Freddy jumpscaring Gregory in the Parts and Service area of the base game without his head on.
    • Roxy in Ruin shouts "Give me back my eyes!", a voice line originally intended to be spoken by her in the base game.
    • Various cut voicelines, like Chica's "Tag! You're it!" and Roxy's "On your mark! Get set! Go!", appear as ambient audio when wearing the V.A.N.N.I. mask.
    • A giant hologram of Monty that appeared in Monty's Gator Golf in a trailer for the base game is reworked to appear in Ruin, albeit seen via the V.A.N.N.I. mask.
  • Release Date Change: The game was first teased back on August 8, 2019, during the fifth anniversary of the series. It was given a tentative release window of Q4 2020 during the PlayStation 5 Showcase event in September 2020, but Scott Cawthon later admitted that it had been delayed to early 2021 because of the COVID-19 Pandemic. It was later further pushed back to late 2021, before it was given a release date in October that year.
  • Trolling Creator: Ray McCaffrey told fans that Map Bot would not be returning for the Ruin DLC. He wasn't lying — a new Mask Bot appeared instead.
  • Urban Legend of Zelda:
    • Markiplier's playthrough of the game is edited to add a Scare Chord sound effect every time he sees a Wet Floor bot turn towards him. For many people who only know the game from watching YouTube videos, this was convincing enough to make them think this is something that actually happens in the game itself.
    • Markiplier switched to adding creepy voice-overs of Freddy when the Wet Floor bots turn around in Ruin... until the game actually starts doing this itself a decent way into the story. He had to pause and explain he had no idea it was coming and it actually WASN'T him this time.
  • Word of Saint Paul: While it's more of a Take That!, Kellen Goff has jokingly said Glamrock Freddy doesn't support NFTs in response to a tweet claiming he does.
  • Working Title: Not present for the base game, but Ruin has one, being titled Chowda. Ruin would subsequently feature a "Chica's Chowda" in reference to this title.
