Main Characters

Discord

The spirit of Chaos and Disharmony and the first born of all of his mother's children. Born deep beneath the earth, he left his mother shortly after discovering the surface world and never looked back. You know what happened next. However between Serenity and his mother it seems his past is catching up with him... Most of the tropes that apply to him here apply to his canon counterpart.

Ugh, that wasn't exactly for 'fun' you know. It was only done out of necessity.

• Ambiguously Evil: His canon actions aside, he's yet to do anything really evil. He must have done something though, because Celestia sure doesn't think so.
• Berserk Button: When he finds out that his powers are gone, his reaction makes his reaction to Fluttershy beating him at his own game look tame in comparison.
• Brought Down to Normal: Thanks to his mother's gem. To make matters worse, if said gem isn't toughing him, he turns back to stone!
• The Casanova: Celestia used to love him, (she still has feelings for him) Twilight's falling in love with him, Serenity fell in and continues to love him... Discord is quite the ladies man.
• Deuteragonist: Shares this role with Twilight.
• The Dreaded: When he ruled Equestria, most ponies feared him. The fact that Serenity not only doesn't but actually seems to like what he does gains his attention.
• Interspecies Romance: He eventually fell in love with Serenity. He doesn't seem to realize this just yet though.
• It Amused Me: Strangely enough his antics in the past seem to be this instead of For the Evulz.
• Jerkass: Although he does have the occasional Jerk with a Heart of Gold moment.
• Lack of Empathy: He seems to have more empathy here then in canon, but when Twilight tells him how horrible he made things for her, he just blows it off, saying that was just "fun and games", as well as a way to keep himself safe from the Elements.
• Pet the Dog: Giving Serenity a home in Memories, and From Here to Eternity has the times where he protected the mane six from harm.
• Superpower Lottery: Even among his siblings, he's powerful. Even Animosity is dwarfed by his power!
• Thou Shall Not Kill: Has a strange aversion to death. Zecora was even told stories of him saving the lives of others.
• Tranquil Fury: He acts surprisingly calm for someone who says the only thing keeping him from ripping apart everything in sight is the chance to get his powers back.
• Villain Protagonist: Mostly in Memories.
• Wings Do Nothing: Averted. He can fly with ease despite their small size after losing his powers.
• You Wouldn't Like Me When I'm Angry!: Doesn't get mad often, but when he does, he gets scary.

Twilight Sparkle

This unicorn (this story takes place before Magical Mystery Cure) is Celestia's student and the Element of Magic. She and her friends accompany Discord in his quest to get his powers back. As time passes it seems more and more like she has no idea what she's getting herself into though. Most of the tropes that apply to her here apply to her canon counterpart.

Maybe she's like Pinkie Pie. Maybe laughter is how she deals with fear.

• Deuteragonist: Shares this role with Discord.
• Interspecies Romance: Slowly seems to be falling in love with Discord.
• Teleportation: As in canon, she can teleport her self and others. It's how she saves Fluttershy from Cacophony.

Serenity

An orphaned earth pony mare who met Discord as a filly and came to live with him in the Princess's castle. Their friendship eventually blossomed into something more. Was killed by Celestia and Luna in order to gain the Element of Laughter. However thanks to Discord she came back to life... (and given her some new powers as well) And she is NOT happy. When younger she would have a rather peppy voice like Pinkie's but it would be softer and less high pitched than her. While older her voice is smooth, deep, and tired sounding. She is purple with purple eyes and a messy black and violet mane. After dying and coming back to life, her entire body is grey. Strangely enough, she has no cutie mark.

But you didn't have to turn him back to stone!

• The Ageless: Thanks to Discord's powers.
• Back from the Dead: Thanks to Discord's powers.
• Berserk Button: Discord's being turned to stone is a VERY touchy subject for her.
• Cloud Cuckoolander: Likely one of the reasons why she was attracted to Discord.
• Cheerful Child: As a filly.
• Creepy Child: When Discord says he's going to interrogate someone, her response is to enthusiastically ask "With torture?"
• The Cutie: As a filly. Then she gets broken and killed.
• Evil Laugh: Gives one in Tiff's illusion. Weather or not this is part of her message is unknown.
• Interspecies Romance: Slowly fell in love with Discord.
• The Resenter: At both Celestia and Luna. More so at Luna, who promised never to betray her.
• Sanity Slippage: If her message to Discord is to be believed, she's slowly going mad-evil.
• Slasher Smile: Gains one at the end of Memories and again in Tiff's illusion.
• This Is Unforgivable!: Likely her reaction to Discord getting turned to stone a second time. The first time, as well.
• Walking Spoiler: Just count the spoilers related to her!
• We Can Rule Together: The gist of Serenity's message to Discord.

Discord's family

Mother

The mother of Discord and his siblings. Very mysterious. Not much is known about her. She spoils her children but does some serious favoritism. She also likes to seem weaker than she really is. She likes to act as though she gives her children free will, but she doesn't in reality. Her home is off the Edge of the World, a strange, mysterious place that is without color or sunlight. Sounds like Bea Arthur. She looks like a cross between Tiff and Celestia, for the most part. Her mane and tail are kept in different styles. The mane is curly, wavy, and kind of scraggly, and the tail is smooth and straight, tapering off to a spiky edge.

Don't worry about him Twilight Sparkle, he is no longer your concern...as of now.

• The Ageless: She is two thousand years old at least.
• Anthropomorphic Personification: Of the past, and dreams, hopes, or ambitions that have been tossed aside.
• Authority Equals Asskicking: Maybe. She's definitely a very powerful being.
• Body Horror: Most of her body is covered in cracks. No blood or anything, just cracks...
• The Caligula: Word of God describes her as having sanity that is "next to nil". It must be where Discord (and Cacophony) got it from.
• Chained by Fashion: She has a shackle on her right front leg, with a bit of broken chain attached to it.
• The Dreaded: When someone like Animosity is reluctant to anger, upset, or disappoint you, you are this.
  • Discord seems to be afraid of her!
• Despair Event Horizon: Her voice is that of someone who's given up all hope.
• Evil Matriarch: A possibility. Word of God says that she and Frieza would get along well with each other though, so make of that what you will.
  • Word of God says that she's flat-out evil.
• Evil Overlord: Of the Edge of the World.
• Fangs Are Evil: She has fangs. Oddly enough, they're broken.
• God Save Us from the Queen!: Animosity calls her his "queen" and mentions a throne that Discord is supposed to be next in line to.
• Good Parents: Genuinely seems to love and care for her children and does not abuse or neglect them in any way. If anything, she has the opposite problem.
• Hellish Pupils: Her eyes are slitted, like a cat.
• Humanoid Abomination: Equivalent for the setting. She looks like an pony. ...One with dragon wings, but a pony nonetheless.
• Large and in Charge: While she's not that big compared to her children, she's still pretty big. She's a good foot taller then Celestia!
• Lean and Mean: Described as being so thin that you can actually see her ribs.
• Mama Bear: Oh my, yes. She loves her "babies."
• My Beloved Smother: Likely one of the reasons why Discord decided to ditch her.
• Non-Action Big Bad: While she can do things herself, she always has her children do her work for her.
• Physical Goddess: Probably.
• Time Abyss: Probably. She's definitely older than Discord is.
• Villain Song: Doesn't have one but if she did it would most likely be about her lamenting about certain past events, making herself sound like the victim, then turning them into spite-filled reasons to be evil.
• Winged Unicorn: She looks like one. However, her wings are made of metal and look more like dragon wings then bird wings.
• Your Soul Is Mine!: Has the rather terrifying ability to suck out souls. It's what she'll do if somebody really pisses her off.

General:

• The Ageless: All of them are extremely long lived, but it's still possible to kill them, at least if what Quarrel says is true.
• Anthropomorphic Personification: Each one of Discord's siblings represents a different aspect of Discord's personality.
• Badass Finger Snap: Or some variation thereof.
• Card-Carrying Villain: Except maybe Squall.
• Dysfunctional Family: The only one who seems to get along well with the others is Wrangle. And even she doesn't try very hard.
• Eldritch Abomination: Except for Tiff, Strife, and Squall. They are a different yet similar trope.
• Foolish Sibling, Responsible Sibling: Animosity, Squall, and Tiff are the responsible siblings, all the rest are the foolish siblings.
• Jerkass: It seems to run in the family. To put things into perspective, Squall is (apparently) the nice one and he's still pretty grumpy.
• Lack of Empathy: Also seems to run in the family. (except maybe Squall) But Tiff is the one who really takes the cake.
• Mouth of Sauron: It's they, and not their mother, who do all their mother's work.
• Obviously Evil: None of them could possibly pass as good guys.
• Quirky Miniboss Squad: They all have their little quirks, but they're all still very dangerous.
• Reality Warper: Although the exact amount of power varies.
• Really 700 Years Old: To put things into perspective, Cacophony, the youngest, (little more than a baby, really) is about a hundred or so.
• Royally Screwed Up: Well... Their mother is a queen.
• Theme Naming: Each one of their names is a synonym for "discord."
• Vile Villain, Saccharine Show: Animosity and Cacophony especially.

Animosity

The dragon-like snake tail and the oldest sibling. He is the most powerful, perhaps even more so than Discord since he's more ruthless. Sounds like Alan Rickman.

"What do you say? Want to be the queen?"

• Anthropomorphic Personification: Of Discord's anger and his negative emotions in general. Luna even says he looks like Discord when he's in a foul mood.
• Author Appeal: Seems to be the most popular out of all of Discord's siblings.
• Beard of Evil: And a mustache, too.
• Blind Obedience: Subverted. He follows orders without question, but secretly plans on stopping this the minute he brings Discord back.
• Berserk Button: Asking stupid questions and making stupider threats.
• Co-Dragons: With Tiff.
• The Combat Pragmatist: Has absolutely no problem with fighting dirty.
• Curb-Stomp Battle: Gives one to Celestia.
• Cute Little Fangs: Two of them.
• Dragon with an Agenda: He goes after Discord not just because his mother told him to, but so he will be "free to leave." But what that means is yet to be revealed.
• The Dreaded: All of his siblings are afraid of him on some level. Even Cacophony!
• Evil Sounds Deep: As well as being pleasing to listen to.
• Expy: Let's see... A big red Faux Affably Evil serpent with a deep voice and incredible magical powers who is also The Dreaded? Ke-Pa, anyone?
• Fangs Are Evil: They emphasize his snakelike appearance.
• Faux Affably Evil: So, so much. Zecora even calls him "someone who preys on weakness and is repulsed by fragility."
• Genius Bruiser: Not just one of the most powerful, but one of the smartest, too.
• Hair-Trigger Temper: Being Discord's anger, he's pretty easy to tick off. But to his credit he does try to keep it in check.
• Hypnotic Eyes: How he brainwashes Luna.
• It Amused Me: Why he brainwashes Luna.
• Knight of Cerebus: Shares this position with Cacophony.
• Mind Probe: He can read minds.
• Non-Malicious Monster: The weird thing about him? You stand a very good chance of surviving an encounter with him. Just don't piss him off.
• Physical God: The most powerful out of all of Discord's siblings.
• Lean and Mean: See Uncanny Family Resemblance below.
• Light Is Not Good: Like Discord much of his reality warping and teleportation are accompanied by a bright light.
• Only Sane Man: Considers himself to be this, and can you really blame the guy?
• Red and Black and Evil All Over: He's mostly red though.
• Superpower Lottery: He may be less powerful than Discord, but he definitely won it.
• Surrounded by Idiots: Has probably said this from time to time.
• Taken for Granite: He can turn things into stone, and unlike Discord he has no problem doing so.
• Uncanny Family Resemblance: Out of all of Discord's siblings, his overall body shape resembles Discord the most.
• Undying Loyalty: Averted. He's not loyal to his mother, he just follows orders blindly because of his duty to her.
• Villain Song: Doesn't have one but if he did it would probably would involve his duty to his mother but how he wishes he didn't have that duty because of his desire to develop more than just his violent nature.
• Would Hurt a Child: Not even children are spared his cruelty. ...But the child in question was Cacophony, so this may be deserved.
• Would Hit a Girl: Yes, yes he would.

Quarrel

The right lion paw and the second oldest sibling. Powerful, but he's lazy and doesn't exercise his abilities on his own that much. He sounds like Dr.Claw from Inspector Gadget, but almost always grouchy.

"I want Discord's HEAD!"

• Anthropomorphic Personification: Of Discord's arrogance and pride.
• Cain and Abel: Hates and wants to kill Discord because he doesn't want Mother to have yet another son she likes better than him.
• Cats Are Mean: Well, he looks like one.
• Cool Mask: ...Except he's not wearing one.
• Cute Little Fangs: He has one long fang sticking out the side of his mouth, just like Discord.
• Dishing Out Dirt: He has an "affinity with stone."
• Does Not Like Women: To the point where he isn't even that fond of his own mother!
• Evil Sounds Deep: And gravelly, and almost always grouchy.
• Expressive Mask: ...Except he's not wearing one.
• Fangs Are Evil: Like Discord, he has one long fang sticking out of his mouth.
• Fatal Flaw: Like Discord, his pride can get in the way of his judgment.
• Not-So-Harmless Villain: Despite his status as a Smug Snake he is easily one of the more dangerous siblings, and has no problem killing anyone who gets in his way.
• Prehensile Tail: He uses it to activate his powers.
• Pride: His Fatal Flaw, and the aspect of Discord's personality that he represents.
• Red Oni: To Wrangle's Blue Oni.
• Smug Snake: It comes with being Discord's arrogance and pride.
• Tail Slap: Activates his powers by twisting his tail; cracking it like a whip.
• Taken for Granite: Like Animosity, he can turn things into stone and has no problem doing so.
• Villain Song: Doesn't have one but if he did it would be about how he wished no one would bother him with their problems and would let him laze about and be served.
• Would Hit a Girl: Yes, yes he would.

Wrangle

The right light blue bird wing and the third oldest sibling. The weakest, though she can actually do some things but she's also more like Schism. However she really shines when working as a team with Quarrel. Sounds like Rarity, but with a higher pitched voice.

"You're just being stupid again."

• Anthropomorphic Personification: Of Discord's desire for attention.
• Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: She's only pretending to be nice, people.
• Blue Oni: To Quarrel's Red Oni.
• Drama Queen: She's a lot like Rarity in this regard.
• Feathered Fiend
• The Load: It comes with being so weak.
• Manipulative Bitch: Jury is out on how good she is, though.
• Power Limiter: Inverted when she's with Quarrel. Her presence actually makes him stronger.
• Villain Song: Doesn't have one but if she did it would be about her wishing to be accepted into 'high culture' and allowed to live the life that Rarity often dreams about.
• Villains Want Mercy: How she handles situations where she gets in over her head.

Squall

The right goat horn and the fourth oldest sibling. You haven't seen him in action yet... But he's got quite a bit of power up his sleeve. Sounds like Gimli from Lord of the Rings if he were a goat.

If we do this though, WE'LL be her favorites!

• Animalistic Abomination: He looks like a goat. The key word here is looks.
• Anthropomorphic Personification: Of Discord's lack of ruthlessness.
• Anti-Villain: The only reason he goes after Discord to bring him home is because he wants to please his mother, and thinks this is the best way to please her.
• Beard of Evil: He has a beard, but it isn't really that evil in and of itself.
• Beware the Nice Ones: While just how nice he is remains to be seen, he is nonetheless very powerful.
• Brains and Brawn: The brains to Strife's brawn.
• Bruiser with a Soft Center: See Beware the Nice Ones.
• Cool Big Bro: His brother, Strife, downright idolizes the guy.
• Evil Genius: Well, he's smarter than Strife, anyway.
• Fashionable Asymmetry: One horn looks normal, the other looks like it has been broken in half.
• Irony: He is actually more powerful then Strife.
• Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Unlike the others he really does look out for Strife, even if he isn't always that nice to him.
• Only Sane Man: The most "normal" out of all of Discord's siblings according to Word of God.
• Token Good Teammate: The least ruthless out of all of Discord's siblings, and according to Animosity tears "work on him." Naturally, his mother thinks that he's too soft for his own good.
• Uncanny Family Resemblance: Out of all of Discord's siblings, his overall head shape resembles Discord the most.
• The Un-Favourite: Averted. He only thinks he's this.
• Villain Song: Doesn't have one but if he did it would be a rather moving piece about how he feels as though he is not as loved by his mother, even though he is powerful and loyal to her, and how he wants to prove himself.
• "Well Done, Son" Guy: Goes after Discord to bring him home to please mother.

Schism

The right dark blue bat wing and the fifth oldest sibling. The one who started off the events of From Here to Eternity. Actually is more of a manipulator than a force of power. He'll make small bits of trouble that eventually become bigger and bigger and bigger... Has a high pitched, whiny/mocking voice.

What a dope for a sister! Ha HA! Too easy! So easy to irritate!

• Anthropomorphic Personification: Of Discord's mischievous nature.
• Big Ol' Eyebrows: One of the few parts of his body that aren't blue.
• Bratty Half-Pint: He comes just about up to Spike's neck.
• Jerkass: He makes Gilda look nice.
• Manipulative Bastard: Appears to be the most manipulative out of all of them.
• Smug Smiler: His default expression is one of these.
• Smug Snake: Probably.
• Troll: Is he ever.
• Villain Song: Doesn't have one but if he did it would be clever limericks about how clever he is and how he delights in making problems for others.

Strife

The left lizard leg and the dracon (or "dragon") part of draconequus. The fourth youngest sibling. Powerful but too stupid to really be able to control it. Sounds like Tone Luc.

Oh… Let's just kill him!

• Anthropomorphic Personification: Of Discord's need to be entertained.
• Brains and Brawn: The brawn to Squall's brain.
• The Brute: He's one of the strongest siblings.
• The Ditz: He seems to be the least intelligent of Discord's siblings...
• Draconic Abomination: He looks like a dragon. The key word here is looks.
• Dumb Muscle: ...But he's also one of the most powerful.
• Emotion Eater: Literally feeds off of conflict.
• Evil Sounds Deep: And according to Squall it booms like a crack of thunder.
• For the Evulz and It Amused Me: He's Discord's need to be entertained, what do you expect?
• For the Lulz: He's Discord's need to be entertained, what do you expect?
• In Name Only: Compared to the Strife of the Pony POV Series, yes.
• The Klutz: Likely one of the reasons why he tends to mess things up.
• Power Incontinence: If only because he's too stupid.
• Spanner in the Works: When Strife is involved, nothing ever works out the way it should.
• Unwitting Instigator of Doom: See Spanner in the Works.
• Villain Song: Doesn't have one but if he did it would most likely be him fantasizing about being able to eat everything and anything he wanted.
• "Well Done, Son" Guy: Goes after Discord to bring him home to please mother.
• Villainous Glutton: Is really mostly motivated by his hunger than anything else.

Dissonance/Dissidence

The left eagle claw and the third youngest sibling. Powerful but too stupid to really be able to control it. Sounds like Brittney Spears if she were ten years old and trying to sound screechy.

WHEEEEEHAAAAAAHOHOOO!

• Anthropomorphic Personification: Of Discord's tendency to do what he wants when he wants without knowing or even caring who gets hurt.
• Berserk Button: Having pranks pulled on her tends to send her into a berserk rage.
• Blow You Away / Light Emup / Gale-Force Sound: Seems to have some degree of power over air, light, and sound.
• The Brute
• The Ditz: You could say she's a real... ...Birdbrain!
• Dumb Muscle
• Evil Counterpart: Would be one to Destruction if she existed in the Pony POV Series. Both are childish and immature; destructive; and are powerful but unable to control it. The only real difference is that Dissonance actually enjoys destroying things.
• Feathered Fiend
• Flip-Flop of God: On her name. It's either Dissonance or Dissidence.
• For the Evulz: Why she starts destroying the forest.
• Genki Girl: She makes Pinkie Pie look quiet and reserved.
• Irony: The whole "Evil Counterpart to Destruction" thing was completely unintentional.
• Keet: See Genki Girl.
• Hellish Pupils: Instead of black pupils, hers are white.
• No Indoor Voice: Even her normal speaking voice is loud, obnoxious, and screechy.
• Person of Mass Destruction: Destroys a chunk of the Everfree Forest just by flying around in circles, letting her power roam free.And she wasn't even trying.
• Power Incontinence: If only because she's too stupid.
• Spider Limbs: Her tail ends in another hand, although it only has three fingers.
• Teens Are Monsters: Would be in her very early teens were she a normal pony.
• Toothy Bird: Not only has teeth but also lips that extend far beyond her beak.
• Villain Song: Doesn't have one but if she did it would probably be about her flying everywhere and having fun playing with the wind, even if that 'play' is destructive.

Tiff

The right goat leg and the equus (or "horse") part of draconequus. The second youngest sibling. Is like Schism, only more direct. She is also younger than him so her powers are not as obvious yet. Sounds like a young Judi Dench.

• Anthropomorphic Personification: Of Discord's lack of empathy.
• Blind Obedience: And unlike Animosity, she plays it completely straight.
• Body Horror: Her wings look like ears!
• The Chessmaster: To the point where she can better Animosity.
• Child Prodigy: She is one of the smartest of Discord's siblings.
• Creepy Child: You have to understand that she's just a little girl.
• Co-Dragons: With Animosity.
• Emotionless Girl: Considering the aspect of Discord's personality that she represents, it's pretty reasonable.
• Empty Shell: It just serves to make her more creepy.
• The Empath: Ironic, isn't it?
• Humanoid Abomination: The most glaring example out of all of Discords siblings. She looks just like a pony, but at the same time she so clearly isn't.
• Ice Queen: Considering the aspect of Discord's personality that she represents, it's pretty reasonable.
• Little Miss Badass: Definitely gives off this kind of vibe.
• My Master, Right or Wrong: Is less someone who is evil and more someone with Undying Loyalty Blind Obedience to someone who is.
• Master of Illusion: One of her powers.
• Troubling Unchildlikebehavior: And how!
• The Stoic: Comes with being an Emotionless Girl.
• Strong Family Resemblance: Looks the most like her mother out of all her children.
• Undying Loyalty: To her mother. And unlike Animosity, she plays it straight.
• Villain Song: Doesn't have one but if she did it would be electronic-sounding and jerky. Her lyrics halting, fractured, but still conveying the idea that she is loyal to Mother and is basically her drone.
• Weak, but Skilled: She's the second weakest sibling, but when you see her in action, you'll find it hard to believe.
• Wide Eyes and Shrunken Irises: This is her only expression.

Cacophony

The left deer antler and the youngest sibling. Insane AND powerful. He would have to have two voices. One would be like a child's; innocent and whiny sounding. The other would be dark, hissing, and malicious sounding.

Ooooooh! Well lookie over there...

• Anthropomorphic Personification: Of Discord's insanity.
• Ambiguous Innocence: That or he just doesn't care.
• Attention Deficit OOHSHINY: All the time.
• Ax-Crazy: The most psychopathically insane out of all of Discord's siblings.
• Bambification: Definitely averted. Sure, he looks like a deer at first... Then out comes the Slasher Smile.
• The Dreaded: But not as much as Animosity. That even he fears him speaks volumes about how terrifying he is.
• Cheerful Child: For all his madness, he somehow manages to be this.
• Cloud Cuckoolander: You know how Discord makes Pinkie Pie look like a dullard? Well he makes Discord look like a dullard!
• Cute Little Fangs: Four (or possibly more) of them in his cloud form.
• Cruella to Animals: Kills a squirrel in his first appearance, and it's implied that he's going to do the same thing to a bunny as well.
• Enfant Terrible: You have to understand that he's little more than a baby.
• Evil Laugh: It sounds deranged, appropriately enough.
• Evil Sounds Deep: When it doesn't sound like a little kid.
• Fangs Are Evil: This is disturbing because he looks like a deer most of the time.
• Fashionable Asymmetry: The horns of his deer form. One is big, and the other is small and ear-like.
• For the Evulz: Like Discord, this is his raison d'etre. He's The Dreaded for a good reason.
• Hollywood Psych: His behavior is so odd and bizarre at times that he shows many signs of various mental disorders, such as Asperser's, ADHD, Bipolar Disorder, OCD, etc.
• Kids Are Cruel: As well as sadistic.
• Killer Rabbit: But only in his deer form.
• Knight of Cerebus: Shares this position with Animosity.
• Laughing Mad: It just makes him seem all the more crazier.
• One-Winged Angel: His cloud form certainly counts. Picture a big purple-black cloud shaped like a deer's head with a horribly fanged grin, white silted eyes and numerous tentacles coming out the back that writhe about like feelers.
• Put the "Laughter" in "Slaughter": Particularly when he's the one causing it.
• Slasher Smile: Very effective on his deer form.
• Villain Song: Doesn't have one but if he did it would be a duet. Two voices where one sings of innocent, baby-like intentions while the other sings while fueled by bloodlust.
