Allain (亚连), the Forgotten Blade (追忆之刃)
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/hok_allain_350x441.png
Faction: Navenia (as a Mercenary)
Arena of Valor counterpart: Himself

Original Information: Allain is a Guest Fighter from Arena of Valor. His story in Honor of Kings takes place after he covered the escape for his childhood friend Butterfly and his squadmates from a deadly ambush. Stranded in this new land, Allain is struck with amnesia and can only remember how he uses his sword. While he never loses his kindhearted disposition, he knows that he's not in a land he can call 'home'. Becoming a sellsword, he finds himself under the services of Milady of Navenia, with hopes that he can get the ticket back to his original home. See this page for his original/other details.

(King) Arthur (亚瑟), the Empowered Holy Knight (圣骑之力)
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/hok_arthur_350x441.png
"One shall never resort to betrayal!"
Faction: Holy Knights of the Round Table
Arena of Valor counterpart: Arthur

Original Information: King Arthur, the legendary King of the Britons. After pulling the Holy Sword Excalibur from the stone, he gathered the Knights of the Round Table in his castle of Camelot, assisted by the wizard Merlin, ruled and protected Britain from various threats, until he was betrayed by his fellow knight and foster son Mordred in the Battle of Camlann, which also saw the end of his Kingdom and life, or so the story goes: He might be in a deep slumber within Avalon where his body would not die, and only to wake up when Britain will face a great crisis.

In-game Bio: The Holy Knights was once a group of powerful protectors, but they have grown weak. Seeing a chance, the allied demon forces launched an attack that would have proven fatal, if not for a young man who single-handedly repelled the attack. In the man's grasp was the 'Sword of Promised Victory'. According to the local legend, the one who carries the sword is the prophesized savior who will earn the loyalty of the Holy Knights. The young man is then dubbed 'King Arthur', and his chivalrous spirit will continue to lead the Holy Knights.

  • Cool Sword: The 'Sword of Promised Victory', and according to Arthur, its name is also Excalibur
  • Expy: He's based on King Arthur and while he has a different backstory in the Land of Kings, he ended up receiving the name King Arthur himself. Gameplay-wise, he's mostly designed after Garen.
  • Knightly Sword and Shield: Excalibur in one hand, big shield in another. And he's a model knight.
  • No Name Given: Nobody knew his real name before he got re-christened into King Arthur. He was just a nameless knight before.
  • Official Couple: With Angela. Though Arthur most likely sees her as a subordinate due to the presence of Merlin inside her.
  • Skill Gate Characters: Most likely your first go-to hero. Arthur's kit is simple enough for beginners to learn the ropes about this game.

Athena (雅典娜), the Sanctuary's Afterglow (圣域余晖)
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/hok_athena_350x441_2.png
Faction: Holy Knights of the Round Table
Arena of Valor counterpart: N/A

Original Information: Athena is one of the Goddesses of the Greek Mythology, residing in Mount Olympus as the Goddess of Martial Warfare, the opposite of Ares. She's the daughter of Zeus born when she burst out of his head after he devoured her would-be mother for reasons. Regardless, she became regarded as one of the most prominent, worshipped Goddesses of Greece, although she's not without some vindictive and not-so-good actions (such as the fates of Arachne and Medusa). The city of Athens is named after her honor.

In-game Bio: Formerly a nameless female soldier that served Arthur. She was sent to guard a palace in the ocean where she faced off against various demons. She's eventually confronted with a spirit that seemed undefeatable, but her courage never faltered. The spirit was impressed and agreed to bond with her, granting her even greater power, for that spirit was literally the Goddess Athena. Henceforth, the female soldier took on the name 'Athena' and stood valiantly in defense against the horde of demons.

Cao Cao (曹操), the Hero of Blood (鲜血枭雄)
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/hok_caocao_350x441.png
鲜血枭雄 (The Hero of Blood)
Faction: Three Kingdoms - Wei
Arena of Valor counterpart: Lü Bu

Original Information: One of the main figures of the Three Kingdoms era, Cao Cao is known as the Hero of Chaos, one who would restore peace within the land in chaos. He gathered many able men from the likes of Xiahou Dun to Dian Wei to fight under his banner, the Kingdom of Wei, to fight against those who would endanger the emperor, from the Yellow Turban Rebellion to the tyrant Dong Zhuo, and eventually culminating in defeating the massive army of his rival Yuan Shao in the Battle of Guandu through strategy and cunning. With that, Cao Cao established his kingdom as the most prominent power in China and fought to unify it, although he would not live to see the unification fulfilled by his strategist Sima Yi.

  • The Chessmaster: In his backstory, he made himself look like a victim of exploitation by the alchemist Xu Fu. But in the end, Cao Cao had him Out-Gambitted and claimed Xu Fu's Arc Core for his own.
  • Evil Overlord: One of the chief villainous leaders of the game, expanding the conquest of his Wei ruthlessly. Aside of some manipulation targets as his allies, some of his generals do follow him loyally (Xiahou Dun, Dian Wei and Sima Yi).
  • Historical Villain Upgrade: Similarly to the novel that villified the historical Cao Cao, this game also does this to an extent. Cao Cao's ruthlessness is put in greater detail; he arranges Zhenji to become his daughter-in-law solely because he's interested in her water magic. His relations with Cai Wenji is also not based on respect, but more about manipulation. When Cai Wenji stumbles upon his plans, Cao Cao reacts by attempting to murder her on the spot.
  • Overlord Jr.: His son (implied to be Cao Pi) isn't playable and only exists as a proof that Cao Cao is related to Zhenji via said son's marriage. It's said that he's just as shrewd and manipulative as Cao Cao is.
  • Sword Beam: Normally, Cao Cao can only shoot a crescent beam by activating his second skill. After he has a moveset revamp in 2023, his normal attacks now shoots crescent beams for extended normal attack range after he casts a skill, which can be stored up to 5 beams.
  • Villain Takes an Interest: If it wasn't for Zhenji's water magic, Cao Cao wouldn't even bat an eye on her.
  • Would Hurt a Child: Cai Wenji just has a body of a toddler here, but Cao Cao spares no quarters and attempts to kill her when she stumbles on his secret plan by accident. If it isn't for Lan interrupting, she would've died on the spot.

Charlotte Christine de Colde (夏洛特), the Rose Fencer (玫瑰剑士)
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/hok_charlotte_350x441.png
Faction: ????
Arena of Valor counterpart: N/A

Original Information: Charlotte is a Guest Fighter from Samurai Shodown. See this page for her original details.

  • Expy: Downplayed. Charlotte's inclusion is Tencent's way to bring the archetype of 'dueling fencer' that they have done with Florentino, but Charlotte's kit is different enough to be distinct from Florentino, as she has to take cue from her own origin game.
  • Royal Rapier: Brings her signature rapier to combat, and no matter the world she's in, Charlotte still embodies the archetype of 'fighting French noblewoman'.

Dharma (达摩), the Fist Monk (拳僧)/Enlightened Fist
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/hok_dharma_350x441.png
Faction: Chang'an
Arena of Valor counterpart: Skud (pre-rework), Qi (current)

Original Information: Dharma is the shortening of Bodhidharma, a semi-legendary Buddhist Monk. Born as a prince in India and trained in the arts of wrestling, Bodhidharma's life turned around when he met a Buddhist monk. There, he realized that his true calling was being a monk, thus he entered the secluded life of a monk, becoming a Buddhist patriarch. Eventually, he traveled to China and spread a sect of Buddhism known as Chan/Zen Buddhism, the first to do so in China. His teachings reached the status of legends with some saying that the Shaolin Kung Fu is rooted from his teachings.

In-game Bio: Once, Dharma was a studious prince of a country. He learned both martial arts and religious scriptures, striving to be a good prince who helps people in need. However, his country fell into chaos when his father was poisoned by one of his brothers, now traitors to the country. Still, Dharma couldn't raise his fist against his fellow countrymen or even his family... until they started taking the orphans from his temple as hostages and demanded that he must surrender his Royal Seal, or else an orphan would die in every 15 minutes. Finally reaching his Rage Breaking Point, Dharma used his fist to slaughter the traitors.

Unfortunately, in his rage and the slaughter of the evil traitors, Dharma doomed his own kingdom. His people blamed him for the kingdom's ruin and banished him. Dharma accepted the punishment, regretting what he did.

While lamenting his actions in his exile, he came across a monk journeying to the West, Jin Chan. The monk's words soothes Dharma's mind that he still has a second chance to redeem himself: To head to Chang'an and be its defender in Jin Chan's absence. While he can never go back to his kingdom, he can still look towards the future and seek his redemption.

Dharma is a Warrior/Tank hero who summons the power of mantra from his fists to unleash heavy destruction on his foes.

  • His passive is Heart Meridian Mantra. Dharma can gain up to 3 stacks of Mantra every time he uses a skill. Each stacks will increase his physical defense temporarily, and his next 2 normal attacks heal him. If he manages to hit an enemy with his skill, he raises the attack speed of his next 2 basic attacks.
  • His first skill is Formlessness Mantra. Dharma dashes forward, launching a single punch that damages and knocks up everyone in his path. He gains a temporary burst of movement speed afterwards.
  • His second skill is Enlightenment Mantra. Dharma unleashes a Rapid-Fire Fisticuffs, hitting 5 times and reducing his target's defenses each hit.
  • His ultimate is Truth Mantra. It has two phases:
    • In the first phase, Dharma punches to a direction so hard that aside of dealing damage, it knocks back all enemies in the area. If they're knocked to a wall, they receive even more damage and are also additionally stunned.
    • The second phase can only be activated when Dharma successfully knocked at least one enemy hero to a wall with the first phase. Dharma launches a flying kick that deals considerable damage to everyone in his path.

  • The Atoner: Dharma fights to redeem himself of letting his rage get the best of him back then, resulting the downfall of his own kingdom and the deaths of his brothers, even if they're traitorous pricks.
  • Bare-Fisted Monk: As an actual monk, Dharma uses his fists to fight his enemies. Even better, he's enhanced with two Power Fists.
  • Foil: To Jin Chan, fellow monk:
    • Dharma is a warrior hero who uses Kung Fu to represent the 'hard' style of Buddhism as it influenced the Shaolin Kung Fu style. While he is not pleased about it, he is not above killing so the game announces him defeating enemies as 'killing'.
    • Jin Chan is a mage hero who uses magic, representing the 'soft' and 'spiritual' side of Buddhism. He is absolutely against killing, to the point that the game modifies his 'kill' announcement to something else like 'vanquishing' or 'eliminating'.
  • Male Might, Female Finesse: When compared with his Arena of Valor counterpart, Dharma represents the male might.
    • Unlike Qi, his secondary class is not Assassin, but Tank, so Dharma is more expected to take more damage with his passive.
    • His passive also allows him two stacks at maximum, but deals greater damage, as opposed to Qi being able to store four stacks for more skill usage.
    • Likewise, his second skill takes form of a Rapid-Fire Fisticuffs, a direct, mighty way to strike, compared to her chi outburst which deals with inner strength and finesse.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: After he killed his brothers to protect the temple orphans, Dharma knew he screwed up so hard: Aside of killing his family members and ruining his kingdom, he's also a monk; he's not supposed to willingly take lives.
  • Rage Breaking Point: Dharma still managed to stay calm and avoid violence even in the death of his father. It's only after his own brothers threatened to kill the orphans in his temple that he got so pissed that he ended slaughtering them. He ended up regretting it.
  • Rapid-Fire Fisticuffs: His second skill allows him to punch the enemy many times in a rapid succession.
  • Walking Shirtless Scene: He is not wearing any upper body garment, allowing him to show his incredibly ripped, muscular body.
  • Warrior Prince: He used to be a prince of his own kingdom in addition of being a Warrior Monk. But as of now, he has relinquished his title because he took part in his country's destruction.
  • Warrior Monk: A bald monk who recites sutra and kicks ass with kung fu, because in some areas, he's considered a legendary influencer of Shaolin Kung Fu.

Dian Wei (典韦), the Berserker (狂战士)
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/hok_dianwei_350x441.png
"The beast within me has awoken!"
Faction: Three Kingdoms - Wei
Arena of Valor counterpart: Zanis

Original Information: A giant of a man, a fierce warrior referred to as 'The Coming Evil'. Dian Wei served as a bodyguard of Cao Cao, but his service was a short-lived one. During Cao Cao's visit to the conquered Wan Castle, he fell victim to an ambush by the warlord Zhang Xiu. Despite his weapons not being there, Dian Wei gave his whole life and body to ensure Cao Cao's escape, repelling soldiers by using their bodies as makeshift weapons. The Coming Evil perished, but Cao Cao lived to fight another day and establish his dominance due to his sacrifice. Dian Wei's position would be succeeded by his fellow general and friend, Xu Chu the Raging Tiger, who continued to serve and guard Cao Cao for longer than Dian Wei would..

In-game Bio: A beast who was taken in by Cai Yong (Cai Wenji's father) and tamed into something more human. Dian Wei used to serve Cai Yong in many virtuous missions, making him a hero. However, one day, his beastly side got the best of him. In a berserker's rage, he slaughtered the Cai clan, leaving only the infant Cai Wenji as the sole survivor. Horrified with his actions, after learning that Cai Wenji was taken in by Cao Cao, Dian Wei volunteered to join Cao Cao's army to find atonement, following Cao Cao's orders while keeping Cai Wenji safe.

  • The Atoner: He's still very horrified with the slaughter of Cai clan and decides to atone by safeguarding Cai Wenji and doing Cao Cao's orders, regardless of Cao Cao's very murky morality.
  • The Berserker: Dian Wei is the type of hero who jumps into the battlefield and start attacking with reckless abandon, getting more powerful the more he participates in a kill. And he actually fits the look better than his Arena of Valor counterpart. (who was based on the more eloquent Zhao Yun instead) He's also referred as Berserker in the global version.
  • Brutish Character, Brutish Weapon: He wields an axe, much like his Dynasty Warriors counterpart. The difference is that this time, Dian Wei does look the part of the 'crazed, brutish axe berserker' archetype as he looked like he's a possessed warrior.
  • Red and Black and Evil All Over: Downplayed. He has red colored hair, menacing red eyes and clad in black armor. In practice, he's just one of Cao Cao's generals (a loyal one at that) who exemplifies Red Is Violent for his red parts.

Dongfang Yao (东方曜), the Child of the Stars (星辰之子)
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/hok_dongfangyao_350x441.png
Faction: Jixia Academy
Arena of Valor counterpart: Yan

Original Information: Dongfang Yao is an original character to Honor of Kings

  • Annoying Younger Sibling: To Jing. There she was, working her ass off to provide for her family by working with Ying Zheng. And Yao... just prefers to goof and show off, though at least he fights as well as he shows off.
  • Decomposite Character: The Dongfang siblings (Yao and Jing) are partially inspired by Dongfang Bubai, a swordmaster who's also a transgender symbol. The decision is to split Bubai into the two characters with wholly clear genders, with Yao being the male part.
  • The Fighting Narcissist: He's a show-off and brags a lot about his awesomeness, if he's not actually kicking butt. His sister is annoyed at him for this, and even his girlfriend ribs on his narcissism at times.
  • No Full Name Given: His surname is Dongfang, but he's always referred to in-game as 'Yao'. Which may cause trouble when in the roster, there's a girl solely named Yao (albeit with different pinyin spelling and Chinese character). Thankfully, said girl is renamed into "Yaria" in the global version, so he's the only one with the name Yao there.
  • Large Ham: He's a showman at heart and likes to make dramatic poses to make an entrance. The poses tend to be something a Chuunibyou would strike (except that he's not one).
  • Ship Tease: His relationship with Xi Shi can be described as "High school sweethearts that haven't tied the knots". This is because Xi Shi is close enough to be an original character rather than being heavily based on her historical counterpart, so anything goes.
  • "X" Marks the Hero: X-mark shaped scar on his face and he's the closest you can get for The Hero or The Protagonist of the Ji Xia Academy faction.

Guan Yu (关羽), the One-Man Army (一骑当千)/Horseback Champion
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/hok_guanyu_350x441.png
"I will fight to the death!"
Faction: Three Kingdoms - Shu
Arena of Valor counterpart: Superman

Original Information: Guan Yu is the second of the three brothers that founded the Shu kingdom, his elder brother being Liu Bei, and his younger brother Zhang Fei. He's a mighty warrior that wielded the massive guandao the Green/Azure Dragon Crescent Blade, and is identifiable with his massively long beard and red face. He rides the battlefield with the horse formerly belonging to Lü Bu. He's a man of honor and loyalty to his brothers, but his arrogance brought his downfall at Fan Castle when the Wu Kingdom took advantage of it, defeated and executed him. However, his deeds became known to the people and through a spread of words, he's worshipped and deified into a God.

In-game Bio: Guan Yu is known as 'The second master', due to his reputation as the greatest and one of the most honorable demon hunters of the Land of Kings. However, one day, someone borrowed his Azure Dragon Crescent Blade and used it for an evil massacre, thus staining Guan Yu's reputation with a crime he didn't commit. For that, he set upon a path to pursue this imposter, for he knows that the path he sticks to is the righteous one.

Guan Yu is a Warrior hero with natural great strength, roaming and building up momentum for the right moment to deliver highly damaging attacks and disrupt the battlefield atop the mighty steed Red Hare.

  • His passive is Rider of Triumph. Guan Yu's movement fills up a separate meter, steadily increasing his movement speed and when maxed out, he will have Red Hare run and change his whole skillset. When fully charged, Guan Yu's normal attack will become a tackle by Red Hare and pushes enemies backwards. The charge can be interrupted by inflicting Guan Yu with slowing effect to a certain threshold of movement speed, or giving him crowd control.
  • His first skill is Heroic Charge. Guan Yu swings his Azure Dragon Crescent Blade, dealing damage to enemies around him. If his passive is fully maxed, Guan Yu leaps to his facing direction and ending with a mighty cleave from his Azure Dragon Crescent Blade, pushing and dealing massive damage to the enemy caught in the leap; the rising leap and the diving strike are counted as separate strikes.
  • His second skill is Soaring Green Dragon. Guan Yu cleanses himself of all crowd controls and gains a temporary speed boost. If his passive is fully maxed, Guan Yu leaps and has Red Hare stomp the ground, knocking all caught in the area away from him. He still receives all the benefits from non-charged version afterwards.
  • His ultimate is Razor Cavalry. Guan Yu enters a state where he's rapidly accumulating his passive meter per movement, allowing him to max out his charge meter and use his alternate skillset faster. If he executes the ultimate after his passive is maxed out, then he also executes a wide area charge that pushes everyone in front of him and damages them.

  • Automaton Horse: Guan Yu is always seen with Red Hare that he got from Lu Bu, and the horse absolutely has no need for food. It can run for infinite lengths without needing to stop by for nourishment.
  • Clear My Name: Someone borrowed his Azure Dragon Crescent Blade and then used it to kill innocents indiscriminately, something that Guan Yu stands against, and now people are looking at him funny. He decides to embark on a journey to clear things up.
  • Demon Slaying: In the Land of Kings' version of Shu, Guan Yu is tasked with hunting down demons that ravaged the land, something that he's pretty good at.
  • Difficult, but Awesome: Guan Yu is a higher tier character and his attack power are mighty, but using him like every other character will just get him killed easier. For starters, he needs to keep moving to build up momentum and he'd hate to man fight someone who can disrupt his momentum build-up (even with a slow) since if he fights man to man without moving, he has very few options to fight back. But once you build him up and understand how he plays, Guan Yu is a terror of the battlefield, intruding on the battlefield to disrupt his enemies, bringing massive damage in one strike, chasing his target to impunity, and being generally beefier and harder to kill unless you're being deliberate (Building up HP also increases his attack power, so a late-game Guan Yu is as powerful as he's beefy with tons of HP to spare)
  • Horseback Heroism: Guan Yu is more encouraged to roam the battlefield instead of staying on his lane, to take advantage of his momentum and interrupt the battlefield. It's often a scenario where Guan Yu becomes the reinforcement his team needs by having Red Hare literally jump on the battlefield to interrupt the enemy and give his friends the fighting chance they need.
  • Mounted Combat: Guan Yu NEVER gets down from Red Hare and he initiates combat with it, thus his extra HP is also converted to attack power. If Red Hare dies, Guan Yu dies as well and vice versa.
  • Shown Their Work: His first skill is a mighty leap with a massive strike. This is most likely how he was recorded to bisect and behead Yan Liang during the battle of Guandu, showcasing his extreme might.
  • Stance System: Guan Yu has a 'normal' state and 'momentum' state which dictate what skills can he use. The 'momentum' state is achieved after he walks a certain length and continues to do so
  • Super-Strength: For one thing, Guan Yu hits like a truck. His normal attack has a high attack value, and his first skill can take out a big chunk of HP regardless of what state he's in.

Hua Mulan (花木兰), the Legendary Blade (传说之刃)
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/hok_huamulan_350x441.png
"Let me show you just how it's done!"
Faction: Great Wall
Arena of Valor counterpart: Yena

Original Information: Hua Mulan is a figure of folklore well-spread throughout China. When invaders came, the Emperor of China let out mandatory conscription to all men in their families to participate in the war to defend their nation. The only man in Mulan's family was her aging father, to spare him from the horrors of war, Mulan instead conscripted herself, disguised as a man. She kept up her disguise throughout the war and successfully repelled the invader. She rejected many offered prizes and only requested permission to go back home to her family, which at that point her gender was revealed. However, she already has done her duties to defend her land, so no one complained.

In-game Bio: Hua Mulan is a volunteer fighter to defend the Great Wall from demons. She was stigmatized for being a traitor by several gangsters that didn't like her attitude, yet regardless of her bad reputation caused by her oppositions, she stood her ground and proved her mettle by repelling demons with her strategies and might. She's a natural-born leader, a flamboyant yet domineering sister-like warrior figure who refuses to lose out to any other men.

Hua Mulan is a stance-switching Warrior hero, wielding either the speedy twin-swords to chase and eliminate single target, or the mighty great sword to devastate the overall area. Most of her skills depend on these two stances: Light Sword or Heavy Sword.

  • Her passive is Great Wall Guardian.
    • In Light Sword mode, Mulan gains movement speed, and every time she attacks a hero, she places Balance Marks on said hero. After stacking 5 marks, they explode, dealing extra damage, silencing and slowing the target.
    • In Heavy Sword mode, Mulan's attack speed is reduced in exchange of greater attack damage and gaining damage reduction and crowd control immunity when she uses her skills.
  • Her first skill depends on which sword she's wielding at the moment. Mulan can re-use these skills once for free within 5 seconds if they manage to hit anyone.
    • In Light Sword mode, it's Snaking Strike. Mulan dashes to a direction, and she can dash again depending on which movement direction is held by the movement wheel. Each dash deals separate damages.
    • In Heavy Sword mode, it's Sundering Slash. Mulan charges up and releases a mighty slash in front, dealing massive damage; the longer she charges, the greater the damage.. If she manages to charge up after 0.75 seconds, she slows down her targets. If she charges until 1.5 seconds, the enemies are also knocked up.
  • Her second skill depends on which sword she's wielding at the moment.
    • In Light Sword mode, it's Dagger Waltz. Mulan throws another of her light sword to a direction, dealing damage to all enemies in the path and it stays at the maximum range for 3 seconds, spinning around while dealing damage and slowing enemies that get into its range. Mulan can manually pick up the sword again to greatly reduce its cooldown.
    • In Heavy Sword mode, it's Blade Flurry. Mulan executes an advancing 4 hit combo, dealing damage each slash and knocking those caught in the area backwards, also slowing them.
  • Her ultimate is Blooming Blade. It's essentially a stance switch; Mulan draws the weapon she is not using at the moment, and in doing so, performs a spinning slash that deals damage to every enemies nearby and changes her moveset.
    • If she switches into Light Sword mode, Mulan temporarily gains extra attack speed. When drawing her sword to this stance, she gains flat movement speed.
    • If she switches into Heavy Sword mode, Mulan temporarily gains extra physical damage. When drawing her sword to this stance, she gains flat damage reduction.

  • BFS: Her power stance allows her to wield a claymore-style sword, where she slows down her attack in favor of making each strike deal greater damage.
  • Cool Big Sis: She's an older sister figure to any other younger heroes, and her quotes seem to refer to herself as 'big sis'. She also possesses an easygoing attitude.
  • Difficult, but Awesome: Mulan is a high-execution kind of hero, having a Stance System means that you have to know exactly when to use her skill and it requires a good precision to get you out of danger's way. When done correctly, Mulan is a highly adaptive hero that's either slippery or an unstoppable juggernaut.
  • Dual Wielding: She has two swords that she uses in her speed form, making her attack quicker.
  • No-Sell: During her power stance, unleashing her skills means that Mulan repels any kind of crowd control from herself.
  • Lady of War: Mulan wears pink and showcases the grace of switching two styles on a dim. Also, unlike her original source, Mulan really doesn't bother with any terms of 'disguising as a man', she kicks ass just fine while showcasing her pink ponytailed hair.
  • Lethal Chef: She is NOT a great cook. As Baili Shouyue leaves her a cookbook with guides of how to cook she does it another way believing it will taste the same. Such as: Not drying wet vegetables and toss them into a wok of boiling oil, adding too much soy sauce thinking more will taste better, and a full Ladle of salt as opposed to a smaller teaspoon, Kai was the first ever victim of her cooking.
  • Tomboy: While she is graceful in battle, Mulan is kind of a tomboy, with a desire to not lose out to any other men in general.
  • Stance System: She switches around Dual Wielding twin swords with a Fragile Speedster style or wielding her own BFS with a Mighty Glacier style. Her Arena of Valor counterpart only retained the twin swords.

Ji Xiaoman (姬小满), the Martial Wonder (武道奇才)/Mayene
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/hok_jixiaoman_350x441.png
Faction: Navenia (Formerly Jixia Academy)
Arena of Valor counterpart: N/A

Original Information: Ji Xiaoman is an original character to Honor of Kings

  • Big Eater: It is to no one’s surprise that this girl loves to eat, hell even her death animation shows her sneakily take out a fish and eats it, THEN pass out.
  • Brilliant, but Lazy: Her personality, she is a very formidable fighter, trained by Lao Fuzi and Mo Zi. However she’s very relaxed most of the time and puts on a very care-free attitude. She just does impressive feats JUST to get out of class to go out or to take naps somewhere.
  • Dub Name Change: Her name is changed into 'Mayene' in the global version. Read that out loud, and somehow you'll feel that it'll fit the Chinese setting for it.note
  • Childhood Friends: With Meng Ya and technically also the other Jixia Academy students.
  • Difficult, but Awesome: Ji Xiaoman's two normal skills are just simple dashes that seems like it does nothing... but depending on which dash is used and what dash is used next, she can follow up with different attack. She has 4 bars for each dash (and she can recover all bars with just her ult). With this, Ji Xiaoman has pretty much any combos for any situation, and they all inflict a great deal of damage too. Good luck with remembering the correct combo for the correct situation, though.
  • She-Fu: Her fighting style involves a lot of running, dashing and flipping around while delivering either kicks or punches.
  • Vitriolic Best Buds: To Kuang Tie/Biron, and vice versa, they get on each others’ nerves, him being clumsy and boisterous and her being sassy and lax.

Kai (铠), the Blade of Destruction (破灭刃锋)/Kaizer
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/hok_kai_350x441.png
"The Great Wall... It makes you want to forget your loneliness."
Faction: Great Wall
Arena of Valor counterpart: Amily

Original Information: Kai is an original character to Honor of Kings

In-game Bio: His full name is 'Kaizer' and he used to be a noble in Navenia. However, his noble blood hides a terrible curse from his family's evil actions, one that would manifest in forming a demonic armor and granting him extreme bloodlust. This will burden his life, along with the life of his sister, Luna. Kaizer decides to carry the burden of his curse alone and fled from his home, seeking the root of the curse to free himself from the curse. Kaizer succeeded in doing so, but the curse was not lifted yet and he ends up stumbling near the Great Wall where humans defend their settlement against monsters while also losing his memories except his own battle prowess and the threat he brings. The Great Wall squad leader, Hua Mulan, picks him up to be her teammate in defending the Great Wall, and decides to grant him the name 'Kai'. Now, Kai wields his dangerous power not to destroy others, but to protect them.

Kai is a duelist-type Warrior/Tank hero specializing in taking out single targets more efficiently than others, while enhancing his power with his demonic sword and armor.

  • His passive is Demon Soul. Kai's normal attack and second skill will deal greater damage if they hit only a single enemy.
  • His first skill is Vortex Brand. Kai throws a smaller blade to a direction, dealing damage and reducing the movement of the speed of the first target hit greatly. The blade then bounces to nearby enemy, hitting each enemies once and up to 4 targets will be hit. Each bounce deals the same damage and slows the target, but the slow is lesser than the first target. Once the blade hits all enemies, the blade returns to Kai, and he recovers health based on his physical attack and max HP. He also gains attack and movement speed temporarily while reducing the cooldown of this skill.
  • His second skill is Blade Tempest. Kai delivers a double slash while dashing minorly, dealing damage twice. The second slash will launch the targets to the sky. Afterwards, Kai's next normal attack is enhanced to immediately dash to his target and deals extra damage.
  • His ultimate is Invincible Warrior. After a delay, Kai equips his demonic armor and deals damage to nearby enemies. He then enters an enhanced state for 8 seconds: He gains a boost in attack damage, movement speed and damage blocking, and for every seconds, he deals damage over time to nearby enemies.

  • Amazon Chaser: He is kind of attracted to Mulan not just because she saved him and is his current leader, but because she's a kickass warrior on her own.
  • Barely-Changed Dub Name: In the original Chinese version, his name has always been just Kai. The previously canceled English translation named him Cain. Finally in the global version, turns out that Kai is his new name given by Mulan. He originally went by the name of Kaizer.
  • Big Eater: Much to the chagrin of the Great Wall Guardians squad, he eats the most out of the group and can always be found snacking or eating within the mess hall. One time, Baili Shouyue has to leave the Great Wall for a week and provides a Week's worth of food for the whole squad, he eats it all in one sitting.
  • Big Brother Instinct: He's the big brother of Luna and the reason why he left home was to make sure Luna didn't get burdened with the curse in his family.
  • Blue Is Heroic: Zig-zagged. His color motif is blue and he's a more heroic character. However, so is his demonic armor which is known to cause wreak havoc indiscriminately and responsible for the deaths of many. On the other hand, Kai has mastered a way to keep his curse at bay.
  • Commonality Connection: He gets along really well with fellow Great Wall guardian Baili Shouyue because both of them are protecting their little siblings (Luna and Baili Xuance) in their own ways.
  • Hereditary Curse: His family has been cursed, and now he and his sister are starting to feel its effect.
  • Hour of Power: Once Kai dons his cursed armor, start running or at least call for help because Kai is about to make you regret meeting him alone for just 8 seconds of enhanced power, movement speed, damage blocking and giving you damage over time.
  • Lightning Bruiser: Kai excels in pursuing and eliminating a single target, where he deals enormous damage as long as they're not assisted with others, increasing his pursuit speed (and slowing the enemies) to make sure they don't escape, and with his ultimate on, he can certainly tank several hits (though not enough to survive being ganged up).
  • Male Might, Female Finesse: With his Arena of Valor counterpart. Kai has slightly higher raw defense stats than Amily, so his sub-class is classified as Tank than Assassin. His attacking animation in general also focuses on the sheer might of his sword slashes, complimented with his cursed armor.

Kuang Tie (狂铁), the Chariot Will (战车意志)
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/hok_kuangtie_350x441.png
Global name: Biron
Faction: Navenia
Arena of Valor counterpart: N/A

Original Information: Kuang Tie is an original character to Honor of Kings

  • Art Evolution: His original model was made in 2016-2017 and he used to be Tiny by the heroes’ standards, ever since the Navenia region was revealed in 2023, he received a newer model that makes him more detailed and less short.
  • Artificial Limbs: He has a electric-punk arm that handles the burden of carrying his large mallet.
  • Boisterous Bruiser: He is very loud, very perky, and hits like a truck.
  • Dub Name Change: When Tencent experiments with the English language in their own Chinese servers, Kuang Tie's name is rendered into 'Magnus'. Then, when the international version is out, his name is changed again to Biron.
  • Dumb Muscle: He is muscular, clumsy, and lacks foresight AND hindsight, just full on tunnel vision of the task at hand.
  • Dynamic Entry: Has a thing for it.
  • Elemental Motifs: Steel (Iron to be specific), and Electricity.
  • Force and Finesse: Compared to Ji Xiaoman, and Alessio, He is the Force, she Finesse, and Alessio the in-between.
  • Shock and Awe: He charges, and uses a lot of electricity, this seems to heal him as well as giving him a shield.
  • Thunder Hammer: He carries a chargeable electric mallet mace that he swings.

Lao Fu Zi (老夫子), the Everlasting (万古长明)/Everlasting Sage
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/hok_laofuzi_350x441.png
Global name: Fuzi
Faction: Jixia Academy
Arena of Valor counterpart: Kil'Groth (pre-rework), Omen (current)

  • Cool Old Guy: This old man is one of the most respected teachers at Jixia Academy. Never mind the way he falls flat on his face in his opening animation.
  • Old Master: He's old and ready to dispense wisdom as well as a beating of a lifetime.
  • You Will Not Evade Me: He has two variants:
    • The first is his first skill, where he drags the opponent in front of him to himself. The range is shorter than Zhong Kui's signature hook, so he can only reel in in enemies who haven't run that far.
    • The second is his ultimate. After charging, he creates a circle that the opponent cannot escape from, therefore, they have no choice but to fight back while being debuffed.

Li Xin (李信), the Fighter of the World (谋世之战)/Prince of Duality
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/hok_lixin_350x441.png
Faction: Chang'an
Arena of Valor counterpart: N/A

Original Information: Li Xin is an original character to Honor of Kings

  • Magikarp Power: Downplayed. Starting at Level 1, Li Xin is a below-average fighter, who only has a normal-damage, thin, vertical Sword Beam and a dash (nothing more, nothing less). Hit level 4, and he permanently enter either the Order or Chaos stances, complete with all the good stuffs on his kit. This means that Li Xin absolutely must get to Level 4 as quick as possible, before that, he's insignificant. However, once he does reach Level 4, despite his leap of significance, he's just a versatile Jack of All Stats that aren't so different compared to other Warrior heroes, he'll be outdamaged scaling-wise by the marksmen or mages, and he'll not be able to soak damage as good as dedicated tanks.
  • One-Handed Zweihänder: He wields a BFS and he alternates between swinging it with just one hand while creating shockwaves from it or swinging it with both hands.
  • Split Personality: Li Xin's default stance is the Order stance. When accessing the Chaos stance, his hair turns red and his personality becomes a lot more bloodthirsty.
  • Stance System: Li Xin has the Order and Chaos stances, which are accessible after he reaches level 4. Switching stances are not instantaneous unlike some like Mulan.
    • The Order stance is the Mighty Glacier stance. Li Xin walks slower, but can inflict huge damage with fewer strikes even from afar and in certain conditions, shrug off crowd controls.
    • The Chaos stance is the Lightning Bruiser stance. Li Xin walks faster and can speed up, and while his single hit damage is lower, he can continuously deliver damage-per-second with a series of relentless attacks that lets him stick close to his target.

Liu Bei (刘备), the Gun of Benevolence (仁德义枪)
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/hok_liubei_350x441.png
Faction: Three Kingdoms - Shu
Arena of Valor counterpart: Moren (pre-rework), Rourke (current)

Original Information: Claiming to be a descendant of Liu Bang; Liu Bei was a hero of the commonfolk during the Three Kingdoms era. On the dawn of the Yellow Turban Rebellion, he saw the need of how the Han should be restored to its former glory while also gaining land on his own. Luckily for him, he gathered two important allies: Guan Yu and Zhang Fei, who would become as close as brothers and they took up arms to quell the chaos of China, from Yellow Turban Rebellion to the tyrant Dong Zhuo. Ultimately, however, Liu Bei would become the tenacious rival of Cao Cao, surviving impossible odds even if he had to betray or leave his patrons. He succeeded in establishing his own kingdom of Shu-Han, but he got reckless on hearing the news of his brothers' deaths and launched the Yiling/Xiaoting campaign where the Wu Kingdom decimated him. Humbled, he retreated to his castle and died in grief, but not after assigning his advisor Zhuge Liang to help his son govern his kingdom. Liu Bei would end up getting extremely lionized as a virtuous scion of Confucianism thanks to Romance of the Three Kingdoms.

  • Action Dad: Can fight side by side with his son Liu Shan, instead of chucking him to the ground and giving him brain damage (of course, his historical self never did that, actually)
  • Adaptational Weapon Swap: Liu Bei is usually depicted using (twin) swords. He's the only brother of the Peach Garden that doesn't retain his original weapon (At least Guan Yu and Zhang Fei had them): He just tots a shotgun.
  • Short-Range Shotgun: Liu Bei's shotgun is much more effective when he's near his target. Thankfully, he can dash and bump into a target so he can utilize the short range shot better. It's also why he's mostly a jungler: Jungle creeps are stationary and easier to land short range shots to.

Lü Bu (吕布), the Unparalleled Demon (无双之魔)/War Fiend
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/hok_lubu_350x441.png
Faction: Himself
Arena of Valor counterpart: Maloch

Original Information: Lü Bu is the mightiest warrior in the Three Kingdoms era, Lu Bu made a name of himself when he was adopted by the tyrant Dong Zhuo (after he was convinced to betray his previous adoptive father Ding Yuan) and displayed extreme ferocity in the Battle of Hu Lao Gate against the coalition that sought to put an end to Dong Zhuo's tyranny, while riding the mighty steed Red Hare. However, Lu Bu ended up assassinating Dong Zhuo due to a disagreement caused by a handmaiden (Romance of the Three Kingdoms would identify her as Diao Chan), and became a traveling warlord, until eventually he met his end against Cao Cao, who executed him for being too much of an untrustworthy backstabber despite his might.

In-game Bio: Lu Bu was once a mighty warlord that ravages the land. However, he fell in love with Diao Chan, a spy sent to weaken him. Because of this, he fell into a trap and the underhanded tactic of Cao Cao and met his bloody demise. However, he still yearns to see Diao Chan again. It's at this time that his spirit his approached by the alchemist Xu Fu. He needs Lu Bu's help to retrieve an artifact for him which has been in Cao Cao's hand. He can return to the land of living to see Diao Chan again, but in exchange, he's to be revived as a demonic fiend in human form. Lu Bu accepts the deal, and soon he returns to the land as a fiend ready to wreak havoc again, for both seeking Diao Chan again and getting his revenge on Cao Cao.

  • Back from the Dead: Lu Bu died once. Now he's back to the living as a demon, willingly.
  • Deal with the Devil: Granted, Xu Fu isn't a devil, but his deal to bring Lu Bu back to the living involve turning him into a demon. Lu Bu gladly accepts the deal.
  • Evil Is Hammy: Almost all of his lines are consisting of very bombastic declarations of his might with Evil Laugh to go, which goes hand in hand with how he's resurrected as a demonic humanoid entity.
  • Evil Laugh: He lets out a mighty one when he uses his first skill, because it deals a BIG amount of true damage, meaning that he gets to kill a lot in one swipe.
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: The reason why Lu Bu has menacing red eyes in this continuity is because he was dead once, and came back to life as a demon.
  • War God: Dubbed as God of War in this universe.
  • World's Strongest Man: While he still has a lot of competition within the continuity where many other mighty men rise, Lu Bu still has the honor of the strongest amongst the Three Kingdoms area. And he's strongest man ontop of being a demonic entity...

Luna (露娜), the Daughter of Moonlight (月光之女)/Lady Moonblade

Faction: Navenia
Arena of Valor counterparts:
[Moveset] N/A
[Crossover Skin] Butterfly

Original Information: Luna is an original character to Honor of Kings

  • Color Motif: In her default costume, dark blue.
  • Expy: Considered an Expy of League of Legends' Diana, fellow Moon-based female champion. Luna is said to be Diana's earlier form before Riot reworked her several times.
  • Little Sister Heroine: She's Kai's little sister and actually not saddled with the same cursed armor, so she does not go crazy.

Ma Chao (马超), the Spear of Cold Light (冷晖之枪)
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/hok_machao_350x441.png
Faction: Three Kingdoms - Shu
Arena of Valor counterpart: N/A

Original Information: Ma Chao, living in the Three Kingdoms era, was the son of the governor of Liang Ma Teng, whom believed that Cao Cao was usurping power from the Emperor of China. Due to Ma Chao's recklessness, Cao Cao had all the justifications to execute Ma Teng, and Ma Chao executed several brutal campaigns to avenge his father, most of them ending in failure and left him serving under the warlord Zhang Lu. During this servitude, he met Liu Bei and agreed to serve him. His ferocity earned him a spot of the Five Tiger Generals of Shu in such a short time, but he was short-lived as sickness claimed him quickly. However, he ensured that his able family would be able to serve the Kingdom of Shu in his stead.

  • Difficult, but Awesome: Widely regarded as one of the most difficult heroes to handle in Honor of Kings. Playing as Ma Chao requires you to calculate where to throw your spears, the best way to pick them up without enemies beating you up, and where you look before you dash (otherwise you dash to the enemy ranks without any dashes, and you're in for a beating). Once you get past that hurdle, Ma Chao proves to be an astonishing Lightning Bruiser; sturdy and hard-hitting as a warrior yet possessing an infinite amount of dashes.
  • Javelin Thrower: While he can attack up close with his spears, Ma Chao's skillset involves throwing his spears like a javelin and picking them up to be thrown again.
  • Mind over Matter: His ultimate skill grants him some sort of telekinesis for his spears: He can direct the spears he planted in the ground to come back to him and strike every enemy in his way.

  • Cute Bruiser: Meant to play like so, however it can also be flexible as a mage.
  • Dream Weaver: A bubbly type, it creates sweet dreams with bubbles and devours nightmares with its friends.
  • Hit-and-Run Tactics: Its ultimate was meant to be so, fly in, dish out all the damage it can deal with and fly away.
  • Mascot: He's practically a mascot creature, though he's not really the game's Series Mascot.
  • Living Dream: A very cute and benevolent example. It is from a race of creatures that protects all from nightmares and devour them as well.
  • Pokémon Speak: Speaks its own name, can easily be compared to a Pokémon.

He penned several books in regards of the way of the sword, most notably the Book of Five Rings. Many tales are abound on his swordsmanship, most famously the duel against Sasaki Kojiro in Ganryujima. Known for his Dual Wielding style, Niten-Ichiryu, Musashi carved his way into the memory of the world as the premiere swordsman of the world.

In-game Bio: A peerless swordsman hailing from Tonpuu Shore, Kyokutou (basically, the stand-in for Japan), having roamed the area and challenging every swordsmen there. He grew up with his childhood friend Otsu, but she loses her life on a mysterious earthquake, driving Musashi into a Heroic BSoD. Thankfully, Otsu's spirit wills herself to materialize and recover Musashi's spirit. While training himself to learn more from and challenge Chang'an's best swordsman Li Bai, Musashi is interrupted by an alchemist who sought his power and reveals a truth: Otsu's death was linked with the Blood Clan led by another alchemist, Xu Fu. For that, Musashi hunts down every members of the Blood Clan until he can reach Xu Fu and take his revenge for Otsu's sake.

  • Dual Wielding: His dual-swordsmanship is a reference to Musashi's real-life Niten-Ichiryu style.
  • Guest Fighter: He's the hero who utilizes the skin of Haohmaru to prevent an Expy Coexistence. When Musashi uses the skin, Haohmaru ends up wielding two swords, something he never did in his home game.
  • Heroic BSoD: Didn't take Otsu's sudden death well that he discarded most of his philosophies after her death. However, he recovers quickly after some spiritual encouragement by Otsu.
  • Master Swordsman: He's Miyamoto Musashi, nuff said. Just as he's the greatest swordsman in real Japan/world, he also is the greatest swordsman in this region, although Li Bai stands as a competition.
  • My Name Is Inigo Montoya: Otsu encouraged him to introduce himself properly before initiating duels. Therefore, everytime he wants to fight, he'll declare, "My name is Miyamoto Musashi, and I am the one who will defeat you!"
  • Younger and Hipper: Before his remake, Musashi is remarkably older and has a beard. After the remake, he's much younger and has shaved his beard.

Nezha (哪吒), the Unbridled Spear (桀骜炎枪)
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/hok_nezha_350x441.png
Faction: Celestials
Arena of Valor counterpart: Max

  • So Much for Stealth: On activating his ultimate, Nezha will temporarily reveal the locations of every enemy. For those dependent on stealth, this means bad news.
  • You Will Not Evade Me: In the second part of his ultimate, Nezha flies and homes to the enemy; thus, they cannot evade him at all unless Nezha stops mid-way.

Pan Gu (盘古), the God of Dawn (破晓之神)
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/hok_pangu_350x441.png
Faction: Celestials
Arena of Valor counterpart: N/A

Original Information: In the beginning of time, there was nothing, except the primordial state of the universe. The state coalesced into a cosmic egg for 18,000 years, trying to perfect the balance of Yin and Yang. After the deed was done, out came a primitive, hairy giant wielding a mighty axe, Pan Gu. With his axe, he separated the Yin and Yang and from there, the Earth and Sky were formed. It took another 18,000 years for Pan Gu to complete the formation of Earth, once the deed was done he passed away, with his remnants becoming the elements of the world, from winds, mists, clouds, mountains, rivers and many more. Thus Earth was created as it was, and it would be up to the other deities to create living beings to fill the place created by Pan Gu.

  • The Giant: Pan Gu is one of the biggest heroes out there. Though he's not fat, he's muscular enough to show that he can dish out damage as big as his body.
  • Hard Light: He shapes his weapons out of nowhere and creates them using a solid light.
  • The Maker: Just like in the original myth, Pan Gu is the creator of the Honor of Kings world, standing above even Nu Wa.

Sikong Zhen (司空震), the King of Thunder (雷霆之王)

——

  • Shock and Awe: Sikong Zhen prefers a more hands-on approach to shocking his enemies with thunder generated from his body.
  • Stance System: While his skills never change, his normal attacks depend on where he's located. While normally a ranged attacker, if he's close to his target, Sikong Zhen becomes a melee attacker with his (thunder-powered) fists, gaining benefits such as splash damage.
  • Super Mode: On activating his ultimate, Sikong Zhen will become a superpowered version of himself, with more thunder to deliver and generally dealing more damage.

Sun Ce (孙策), the Bright Sea (光明之海)/Seafarer
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/hok_sunce_350x441.png
Faction: Three Kingdoms - Wu
Arena of Valor counterpart: Bijan

Original Information: Nicknamed 'the Little Conqueror', Sun Ce is the eldest son of the warlord Sun Jian that lived in the dawn of the Three Kingdoms era, and the big brother of Sun Shangxiang. At the young age, already married to one of the great beauties of China, the elder of the Two Qiaos Da Qiao; and best friend of the genius strategist Zhou Yu, Sun Ce saw his father dying against Liu Biao and inherited the Imperial Seal his father found. He sold the Seal to the warlord Yuan Shu in exchange of a few soldiers that he eventually led to conquer the southern lands of Wu, forming the backbone of the Wu Kingdom, in such a short time, hence how he got his nickname. His life was cut short during a battle (Romance of the Three Kingdoms depicted it as an unfortunate run-in with Taoists that he didn't trust), unfortunately, leaving his land in care of his little brother Sun Quan, who would rule it in his stead and make his kingdom stand strong in the turbulent times.

  • Anchors Away: His weapon is an anchor.
  • Dynamic Entry: He can enter the battlefield from afar by charging with his ship and then crashing said ship to the enemy. For bonus points, he can also bring a passing ally for the ride and thumpcrashing together.
  • Official Couple: While 'historical couple' is a thing in the game, the Sun Ce-Daqiao pair counts as the most celebrated as it has three whooping couple skins, which include bridal pair, 'cute animal house manager' pair and 'comicbook hero/heroine' pair (No other Official Couple (which consist of two hero units, not including Ganjiang & Moye) get that kind of privilege!). Their quotes also include lines where they think of each other very fondly.
  • Pirate: Has Chinese pirate motifs.
  • Prince Charming: The young ruler of Wu and a pretty romantic guy, considering how many of his quotes are used to show his dedication to protect Da Qiao.
  • Making a Splash: Can imbue his weapon with water to deal damage to enemy heroes.

An accomplished warrior, he participated in many legendary battles, from aiding the Zhou rebel army to topple the declining Shang Dynasty to various skirmishes against or alongside Sun Wukong.

  • Attack Drone: His third eye is actually the hovering drone around him. It can shoot lasers.
  • You Will Not Evade Me: If an enemy is marked by his hound, it doesn't matter where they are as long as Yang Jian is nearby; he can simply teleport right next to them and start kicking ass.

Yun Ying (云缨), the Heart of a Prairie Fire (燎原之心)

Original Information: Yun Ying is an original character to Honor of Kings

  • Barely-Changed Dub Name: The global version just simply omits the 'Yun' from her name, turning her into 'Ying'.
  • Breakout Character: Yun Ying is released years after the game was launched. And yet, in such a short time, she racked up a great amount of popularity that she became the poster girl of the global version of the game.

Zhao Huaizhen (赵怀真), the Free Heart (自在之心)
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/hok_zhaohuaizhen_350x441.png
Faction: ????
Arena of Valor counterpart: N/A

Original Information: Zhao Huaizhen is an original character to Honor of Kings

  • Bare-Fisted Monk: He draws inspiration from various martial arts/wuxia fictions, in particular the bare-fisted martial arts style. Zhao Huaizhen's skills look like graceful, flowing martial arts at work.
  • Childhood Friends: He's a childhood bestie with Yun Ying. However, so far, he's neither victorious nor unlucky. He's just something of a big brother figure.

Zhao Yun (赵云), the Celestial Dragon (苍天翔龙)
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/hok_zhaoyun_350x441.png
"Zhao Zilong at your service!"
Global name: Zilong
Faction: Three Kingdoms - Shu
Arena of Valor counterpart: Zephys

Original Information: A noted bodyguard of Liu Bei of Shu, Zhao Yun is a renowned spearman that used to serve the warlord Gongsun Zan, until he saw Liu Bei and was drawn to him. His accomplishment in history was more lowkey, he never did something of note, however it was known that he's a dutiful soldier. The Romance of the Three Kingdoms novel, however, propelled him into something even greater, where he's an ace soldier with many great accomplishments, most notably when he single-handedly tore through the ranks of Cao Cao's men to rescue Liu Bei's infant son Liu Shan and delivered him unharmed, and afterwards becoming one of the most powerful generals of Liu Bei, earning a spot in the Five Tiger Generals.

In-game Bio: Formerly a mercenary of a group known as "Dragon" who went under the codename "Shadow". The mercenary leader, Loong, lent his services to Cao Cao, but refused to join as a permanent member of the Wei army, so Cao Cao stoked his ambitions to rise above the rest, by attempting to defeat the mighty Lu Bu. Shadow, however, did not trust Cao Cao. When he failed to persuade Loong, he left the the "Dragon". Loong's overconfidence proved to be his downfall as Lu Bu slaughtered his men despite Loong's scheming. In the last moments, Shadow returned and helped him slay Lu Bu, but amongst the "Dragon" mercenary group, only Shadow and Loong remained.

Shadow vanished afterwards. Later on, during the battle between Wei and Shu in Changban Bridge, a similar spear of lightning descends to strike at the Wei army. Such technique could only be wielded by Shadow himself. However, he no longer goes by that name. He declares that his new name is Zhao Yun (stylename: Zilong), and he will oppose Cao Cao by aligning with the Shu leader Liu Bei.

  • Adaptation Relationship Overhaul: He's listed as an old friend of Diaochan, as she used to belong to the "Dragon" mercenary group (and was one of the instruments in defeating Lu Bu), although as of now, they walk separate ways. In the novels, they are complete strangers; Zhao Yun was introduced after Diaochan vanished from the story.
  • Big Damn Heroes:
    • In lore, many, many times, he arrives just in the nick of time to save the day, either on Loong when fighting Lu Bu or the Shu army in the Changban Bridge.
    • In gameplay, he has two mobility tools to traverse the battlefield quick enough. One of them, his ultimate, also knocks up nearby enemies, giving him opportunities to zip in as a reinforcement in the nick of time.
  • Blue Is Heroic: To amp up his heroic image, the scarf he wears is colored blue.
  • Knight in Shining Armor: The archetypical Chinese dashing warrior draped with silver armor.
  • That Man Is Dead: As far as he's concerned, Shadow is dead. There's only Zhao Yun from now on.

Zhong Wuyan (钟无艳), the Savage Hammer (野蛮之锤)
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/hok_zhongwuyan_350x441.png
Global name: Wuyan
Faction: Jixia Academy
Arena of Valor counterpart: Ormarr

  • Brutish Character, Brutish Weapon: As a tomboy, savage lady (who somehow becomes a martial arts instructor in Jixia Academy), Zhong Wuyan is armed with a big hammer.
  • Spin Attack: She's the one who handles the 'spin to win' skill, although it's limited to her ultimate.
  • Taken for Granite: Her hammer is imbued with petrification power, which immobilizes the enemies. This is not passed down to her counterpart in Arena of Valor, who compensated with slow.
  • Tomboy and Girly Girl: She's the tomboy lady of Jixia Academy when compared with Xi Shi. There used to be another tomboy in the academy (Ji Xiaoman), but she has left for a long time.
