    Boy Blue (Thomas Horn)
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/boy_blue_earth_27.jpg

Thomas Horn/Boy Blue is the half-Fae son of Vindemia Fae and Victor Frankenstein/Geppetto and twin brother of Pinocchio. He's one of Bigby's deputies and is much more capable than his innocuous appearance would suggest.

  • Adaptational Jerkass: While he has mellowed out a lot, he used to be a prankster who tricked his friends, and still has a nasty streak on him that's been tempered by his love of music and thanks to his girlfriend.
  • Best Friend: His best friend is Peter Piper.
  • Blue Is Heroic: A reluctant hero at times. But he always rises to the occasion to do the right thing and is always swathed in blue.
  • Color Character: Boy Blue.
  • Composite Character: Boy Blue is combined with The Boy who Cried Wolf.
  • Crying Wolf: Liked to prank his friends Bo Peep and Peter Piper like this, until Bigby Wolf appeared and devoured most of his flock, and would have been eaten himself had Peter not saved him.
  • Cultured Warrior: He's a master musician, strategist, equestrian and swordsman.
  • Hair of Gold, Heart of Gold: Downplayed, he's blonde, and one of the nicer Fables, but he used to be a mischievous trickster, and he still has a vindictive streak.
  • Half-Human Hybrid: He's a half Human, half Fae Fable.
  • The Heart: An earnest, straightforward young man, polite to everyone, often plays the peacemaker and beloved by just about the entire Fable community.
  • I Have Many Names: Tomasso Gestern, Tom Frankenstein and Tommy Morrow.
  • Innocent Blue Eyes: Inherited his mother's blue eyes, which compliment the rest of his appearance.
  • In-Series Nickname: Blue, Boy, Crier, Wolf Crier and Jazz.
  • Love Redeems: While his mentors tempered his trickster personality, a lot of his improvement comes from his love for Red Riding Hood.
  • Master Swordsman: Due to being trained by Ystina in the way of the sword.
  • Nice Guy: Slightly below Flycatcher on the niceness scale, but still one of the kindest and most reliable Fables.
  • Official Couple: Currently dating Red Riding Hood.
  • Related in the Adaptation: He's the son of Victor Frankenstein and Vindemia Fae, twin brother of Pinocchio, brother of Haley London and surrogate brother of Briar Rose, Cinderella and Rapunzel, making him surrogate uncle of Hansel and Gretel.
  • The Trickster: Tom's trickster traits allow him to bend (or even break) the 'unbreakable' laws that bind Fae society. He is also able to use glamour to make minor changes to his appearance, such as changing his clothes or giving him a slightly different face. These parlor tricks are not true sorcery but good enough to fool other Fae, particularly the uncreative Sheeda.

    Red Riding Hood (Liesel Becker)
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/red_riding_hood_earth_27.jpg

One of Bigby's deputies and member of the Fantabulosa Rozzers. She was hired because Bigby trusts people who have long history with him.

  • Action Girl: Trained by the Huntsman, she's an expert brawler & knife fighter, marksman, survivalist and tracker.
  • Adaptational Badass: In the comics Red had no obvious physical prowess and was impersonated by Baba Yaga, but here she's Bigby's deputy and an experienced huntsman and former resistance fighter.
  • Adaptation Dye-Job: In the comics she was a brunette, but here she's half brunette, half blonde.
  • Adaptation Personality Change: In the comics she was quiet, modest and somewhat introverted, but here she's courageous to a fault.
  • Androcles' Lion: For helping Bigby to escape from a cage after being imprisoned by the witch Gothel, he arrived several years later to take her and the Resistance to Earth when they were at their lowest.
  • Appropriated Appelation: She and other members of the Little Resistance took the 'Little' moniker as a way to give the rebels a sense of pride for being made up of 'mere' peasants, 'simple' shopkeepers, 'meager' farmers, and the like.
  • Color Character: Red Riding Hood.
  • Defector from Decadence: She was part of the court of the Silver realm, until the rise of Queen Tsaritsa, which soured her opinion on the kingdom, defecting altogether when Tsaritsa and the Sheeda became allies.
  • Hell-Bent for Leather: Wears a leather jacket over her red hoodie.
  • I Have Many Names: Le Petit Chaperon Rouge and Rotkäppchen.
  • In the Hood: To modernize her look she now wears a red hoodie.
  • Lust: One of her vices is her lust.
  • Official Couple: Currently dating Boy Blue.
  • Only Known by Their Nickname: Her name is actually Liesel Becker, but everyone calls her Red, Hood, or Ride.
  • La Résistance: She was part of the Little Resistance alongside Boy Blue, Bo Peep and the Three Pigs against the Sheeda and their alliance with Tsaritsa.
  • The Straight and Arrow Path: She uses a crossbow.

    Peter Piper
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/peter_piper_earth_27.jpg

One of Bigby's deputies and a popular musician in Fabletown with deep, dark family issues.

  • Alliterative Name: Peter Piper.
  • Badass Longcoat: Wears a brown leather coat.
  • Blade Enthusiast: A deft hand with a blade, though not to the level of his wife, Bo.
  • Cain and Abel: The Abel to Max's Cain. Interestingly, he killed his brother when he thought he had killed Bo, or at least left him dead before he came back to life due to the popularity of his story.
  • Fallen-on-Hard-Times Job: After losing his farm and his grandfather during a Sheeda attack, Peter married Bo, but was forced to become a thief to recover the pieces of their now shattered lives.
  • Happily Married: To Bo Peep.
  • Magical Flutist: The magical fife "Frost", which is the opposite of his brother's fife "Fire".
  • Master of Unlocking: Due to his past as a thief, he became a Master Lockpick.
  • Raised by Grandparents: His mother died giving birth to him and his father was always away due to his activities as a criminal, so he and his brother Max were raised by their grandfather.
  • Shrouded in Myth: "Peter Peter Pumpkin Eater" makes mention of two wives. There is one in the first verse, which is Bo. The second verse of Peter's rhyme does mention another wife, to Bo's dismay. But this confusion comes from his rhyme being blended with 'Eeper Neeper' — the tale of a serial killing Fable chimney sweep which Peter has no desire to be associated with.
  • Sibling Yin-Yang: Even before they became enemies, Peter always liked his job as a farmer and taught how to enjoy it to Boy Blue, while his brother Max Piper was never interested, fled as soon as he could and then became an enforcer of the Sheeda.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Anything pumpkin-flavored.
  • Youngest Child Wins: He convinced his brother to forsake his inheritance in exchange for helping him romance Mary Peep. For a time Max didn't care, until their father was murdered and Max tried to claim the flute, until their grandfather reminded him he had forsaken his inheritance long ago.

    Bonnie "Bo" Peep-Piper
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/bo_peep__earth_27__commission_by_phil_cho_dedhbzw_fullview_7.jpg

A shepherdess by vocation, she also happens to be a highly skilled fighter, spy, assassin and former revolutionary.

  • Abled in the Adaptation: She was never hit by Max Piper's magic that burned her lower body like in the comics. Instead she merely was enchanted into believing her husband was dead.
  • Adaptation Dye-Job: In the comics she was blonde, but here she's half brunette, half blonde.
  • Adaptation Origin Connection: The only sheep of her flock that wasn't eaten by Bigby Wolf was a black lamb that would become the Baa Baa Black Sheep.
  • Affectionate Nickname: Lambchop and Peep Show.
  • The Beastmaster: She and her sister were part of a proud lineage of shepherds who had the ability to speak with the animals and command the more dim-witted species to do their bidding.
  • Best Friend: Her best friend is Jill Horner, Jack Horner's sister.
  • Blade Enthusiast: Extremely skilled with small blades.
  • Clothing Damage: Her shirt is torn to show her navel.
  • Deadpan Snarker: Her acerbic wit is as sharp as the knives she wields.
  • Don't Go Into the Woods: She and her family were the only ones who could raise their flocks near the Black Forest, which at the time was home of Bigby's brothers Greyheart, Snapjaw and Longtooth, since their gift with animals apparently made them nervous.
  • Farmer's Daughter: She and her sister Mary descend from a long line of shepherds that could speak to and control animals.
  • Happily Married: To Peter Piper.
  • I Regret Nothing: She does not share the details of her time with the Little Resistance, but claims that she regrets nothing she did.
  • Mark of the Supernatural: She's a Fable and her right eye is green while her left eye is brown.
  • Martial Arts Staff: Her rowan crook, and she's a master stick-fighter.
  • Related in the Adaptation: Her sister is Mary Peep from Mary Had a Little Lamb.
  • Tomboy and Girly Girl: She's the Tomboy to Mary's Girly Girl, with Bo preferring to remain a shepherdess while her sister is a surgeon and veterinarian.

    Puss-in-Boots
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/417_4.png

The one and only Puss-in-Boots.

  • Adaptational Sexuality: He's bisexual while in most stories it was unmentioned.
  • Animal Jingoism: He's a cat and he considers the Three Blind Mice his nemesis.
  • Badass Cape: He even has a custom made leather cape.
  • Cat Folk: Has opposable thumbs and can walk on two legs.
  • Cats Hate Water: Like a regular cat he's hydrophobic.
  • Composite Character: He's combined with the Marquis of Carabas, who was his owner in the original story, but that is his title.
  • Furry Reminder: He might be able to talk and walk upright, but Furbo is still a cat, and hates water, likes catnip, is nocturnal, takes catnaps and has predatory instincts.
  • Half-Dressed Cartoon Animal: He wears boots, a hat, gloves, a cape and a belt for his sword, but doesn't wear other clothes.
  • In-Series Nickname: Booted Cat, Cat, Fabulous Feline, and Puss.
  • Interspecies Romance: He's a humanoid cat in a relationship with Briar Rose.
  • Named by the Adaptation: Given the name of Furbo, which was given to him by his original owner before he came into the possession of Cameron Thrawn.
  • Odd Friendship: He's friends with Prince Charming, having helped him rescue Briar Rose.
  • Uplifted Animal: He was turned into an anthropomorphic feline by the Crooked Man using his magical Crooked Coin.

The Three Little Pigs

    In General
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/the_three_pigs.jpg
From Left to Right: Chester, Sandra, Bentheim

  • Adaptational Badass: In the comics they were merely talking pigs, but here they're were-boars, capable of wielding weapons and serve as deputies for Bigby.
  • Adaptational Context Change: Rather than talking pigs, one of whom one was killed by the other two when they tried to overthrow the Farm of Fabletown before being executed for their attempted revolution, here they're werepigs who serve as Bigby's deputies and have no reason to overthrow the Fabletown government. That said, Bentheim does want to replace Bigby as the Sheriff of Fabletown.
  • The Ageless: Besides their immortality as Fables, while werepigs may continue to age for a time after they've been bitten, most tend to stop aging somewhere between the age of twenty-five and forty-five.
  • The Beastmaster: Animals don't attack a werepig. Boars and other swine even bow down before werepigs, even in their human form. This may point to some potent connection to the Red.
  • Game Face: When angry, werepigs can show off their glowing eyes, tusks, and claws by partially shifting.
  • Healing Factor: Werepigs regenerate rapidly, recovering lost limbs or removed organs within a day of rest. This is their only ability more powerful in their human form.
  • Lunacy: The potency of a werepig's powers wax and wane during the lunar cycle (being at their most potent the closer it is to the full moon and at their weakest near the new moon).
  • Nigh-Invulnerability: Werepigs cannot be harmed by conventional weapons. Only a silver bullet or magic can pierce a werepig's flesh.
  • Our Werebeasts Are Different: They are were-boars, and like werewolves, they turn into beast form during the full-moon, can transmit their curse through a bite and are vulnerable to silver.
  • Pig Man: Rather than a Talking Animal, the three of them look like anthropomorphic boars in werebeast form.
  • Polyamory: All three of them are in a relationship with each other.
  • Super-Senses: Werepigs have incredibly acute senses of sight, smell, and hearing even outside of their transformed state.
  • Two Guys and a Girl: They are two males and one female who were cursed into werebeasts by Lilith and now are True Companions who serve as law enforcers.
  • Voluntary Shapeshifting: Experienced werepigs can force a brief transformation at any time, including during daylight hours. Younger, inexperienced werepigs have little to no control or even awareness in this form while experienced werepigs do have limited self-control while transformed.
  • Weaksauce Weakness: Like most werebeasts, were-pigs are vulnerable to silver.

    Chester White

Click for Were-Boar Look

One of The Three Little Pigs. A former farmer who stepped up when no one else would, he's the one who built his house out of straw.

  • Adaptation Name Change: Instead of Colin, Dun, and Posey, he and the other Three Pigs are named after pig breeds. Colin becomes his middle name instead.
  • Big Fun: He's very rotund and is usually the most pleasant of the Three Little Pigs.
  • Carpet of Virility: In were-pig form his hairy chest is on full display.
  • Delinquent Hair: Has his hair in a mohawk in were-pig form.
  • Hidden Depths: Chester is perhaps the most knowledgeable and fluent in legal procedure.
  • Ironic Nickname: He and the other Three Pigs aren't so "Little" anymore.
  • Lazy Bum: More than the other two, Chester has embraced a domestic modern lifestyle. He watches a lot of television, eats a lot of fatty foods, and drinks a lot of sugary drinks. This can be seen in his rounder figure and even when he transforms, Chester resembles more of a domestic pig than the white boar he once was.
  • Meaningful Name: The Chester White is a breed of domestic pig which originated in Chester County, Pennsylvania.
  • Power Dyes Your Hair: His brown hair turns white in were-pig form.
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: His eyes turn red in werepig form.
  • Sleeves Are for Wimps: In were-boar form his shirt has no sleeves to hide his arms.
  • Weapon-Based Characterization: Chester prefers clubs, staves, and polearms (or a pitchfork), all of whom go well with his profession as a farmer.
  • Workplace-Acquired Abilities: Thanks to his past as a farmer, Chester is a skilled thatcher, weaver, and electrician.

    Sandy Tamworth

Click for Were-Boar Look

One of The Three Little Pigs. A former woodcutter's wife who lost her husband to demon hounds, she's the one who made her house out of sticks.

  • Adaptation Name Change: Instead of Colin, Dun, and Posey, she and the other Three Pigs are named after pig breeds. Posey becomes her middle name.
  • Braids of Action: Her hair has braids on the sides and they remain even in Pig form.
  • Dual Wielding: She uses two axes in combat. One of them belonged to her late husband.
  • Full-Frontal Assault: She doesn't wear clothes in were-boar form, although her fur keeps everything covered.
  • Gender Flip: In most stories, the Three Little Pigs are all male or their genders are unmentioned, but here she's the only female of the Three.
  • Hair-Trigger Temper: Sandy is quick to anger, having never really calmed down after the loss of her husband forced her to become a harsh woman that could not afford to hesitate to get her hands dirty. She's got more than her share of complaints for excessive force among the Rozzers.
  • Meaningful Name: Named after the Tamworth pig, also known as Sandy Back and Tam, a breed of domestic pig originating in its namesake Tamworth, Staffordshire United Kingdom, with input from Irish pigs.
  • Non-Humans Lack Attributes: Despite having very large breasts, Sandy lacks visible nipples, or private parts, or udders in were-pig form.
  • Power Dyes Your Hair: Her blonde hair turns red in were-pig form.
  • Significant Green-Eyed Redhead: Has red and orange fur and green eyes in were-beast form, and is one of the Three Pigs.
  • Workplace-Acquired Abilities: Sandra is a skilled carpenter and plumber.

    Bentheim Black

Click for Were-Boar Look

One of The Three Little Pigs. A former mason who lost his daughter to a werebeast, he's the one who built his house out of brick.

  • Adaptation Name Change: Instead of Colin, Dun, and Posey, he and the other Three Pigs are named after pig breeds. His middle name is Dun, though.
  • Affectionate Nickname: Ben, Benny and Brick.
  • Alliterative Name: Bentheim Black.
  • Eye Colour Change: His brown eyes turn blue in werepig form.
  • Full-Frontal Assault: Like Sandy, he doesn't wear clothes in were-boar form, although his fur keeps everything covered.
  • Ironic Nickname: He's easily the tallest and most muscular of the Three Little Pigs.
  • Meaningful Name: Named after the Bentheim Black Pied pig, also known as the Buntes Bentheimer Schwein. It is a rare breed of domestic pig in Germany.
  • Perma-Stubble: In human form he has a stubble.
  • Power Dyes Your Hair: His brown hair turns black in were-pig form.
  • Pride: Bentheim regards himself as the best of the three pigs. He has nominated himself as their leader. Not only is he the oldest, but he is also the strongest and arguably the most charismatic and intelligent (though not the most knowledgeable).
  • The Starscream: He has made it no secret that he plans to one day officially challenge Bigby for the position of sheriff and can often be found making plans for his eventual campaign.
  • Teeth-Clenched Teamwork: He will usually follow the orders of Beast and Bigby, but is not one to do so without questions, particularly when he disagrees with them. Even when he agrees, Benny often plays devil's advocate for the sake of challenging their authority.
  • Weapons of Their Trade: His weapon is a hammer, fitting for his profession as a mason and blacksmith.
  • Workplace-Acquired Abilities: Bentheim is a talented mason, architect, and blacksmith.
