Main

    The SOUL
The one in control of most of Kris’ actions, you! As per usual, you guide Kris (or Frisk) and their friends through a cacophony of strange worlds and decide who lives or gets obliterated.
  • Greater-Scope Villain: In the obliteration route. Especially once the party actively starts working against the player's will any way they can.
  • Kick the Dog: Even more so than usual if you're going down the obliteration route. In addition to murdering everyone you come across, the player has dialogue options that really lets them be a jerkass to certain characters. However, some of the really hurtful options aren't without consequences...
  • Story Branch Favoritism: In a weird example, the obliteration route has a much more involved response to Susie and Noelle learning about the SOUL, in that they (along with Kris) will actively start doing everything in their power to be the biggest thorn in the player's side possible. Their reaction on the Pacifist route, while they're still clearly shocked and sympathetic, is less extreme due to the SOUL being less monstrous.
  • Video Game Cruelty Punishment: The obliteration route does NOT hold back on this. If the player really acts like an asshole, Kris will decide they've had enough and rip the SOUL out and shatter it.
    • In section 2, the donation lady will give Kris a concussion, which lowers their stats and sometimes skips their turn for the rest of the section. In addition, not only does Paula not help you through the second half of the section's difficult enemies, but she and Ness decide to give you a brutal Superboss battle in an effort to stop you (though, whether that last bit is a punishment or not is debatable).
    • Come section 3, Susie and Noelle are absent from the party at various points in the route, leaving Kris to fend for themself. Susie will also actively do her best to make the player's life as hard as possible on the obliteration route once she becomes aware of the SOUL controlling Kris' actions.
  • The Voiceless: Whoever is in direct control of the SOUL appears to be this, but only to the player. Naturally, this means that the player will only be able to hear them if the SOUL they're controlling is outside of them.

    Kris
The human of the three heroes from the prophesy. They the holder of essence of their world. They, along with Susie, were mysteriously brought to a different world after attempting to make a Dark Fountain in their home. Throughout their adventure, they're guided by a mysterious voice who instructs them to seek out the other essence holders...
  • Alternate Self:
  • Bothering by the Book: This is how Kris is able to screw with the SOUL if the player continues the obliteration route up to a certain point in chapter 3. Several acts end up being reinterpreted by them to mess with the player. The earliest trap is Susie's Red Buster becoming available for basic encounters… which is used on Kris instead of the enemy. Hey, it just says for Susie to use Red Buster, not that it uses it on the enemies.
  • 11th-Hour Superpower: In the Obliteration Route boss fight against Ness and Paula in Section 2, commanding Susie to use Red Buster on Paula twice will have her refuse the second time, causing X-Slash to appear in the ACT menu.
  • Even Bad Men Love Their Mamas: Trying to make Kris kill their otherworld mother during an Obliteration Route will result in them pulling you out and shattering you using a knife, which speaks volumes of their relationship with Toriel.
  • Everyone Has Standards: In Sections 1 and 2, attempting to provoke Toriel into a fight to the death or manipulating Noelle into being a submissive murderer are lines that Kris won't cross no matter what, so they'll destroy the SOUL even at the cost of their physical health.
  • Faustian Rebellion: Continuing to act like an utter jerkass throughout the obliteration playthrough will cause them to actively rip the SOUL out of their body and destroy it themselves over especially heinous actions. In chapter 3, when Kris tells Susie and Noelle about the SOUL, all three of them proceed to agree to be as much of a thorn in the player's side as possible to try and get them to stop killing everyone.
  • Foil: They're one to Frisk, even moreso in this game. In one route, where Kris would attempt to fight against player input when forced into performing actions that are morally incorrect, Frisk is completely fine with being forced to kill and may attempt to perform violent actions on their own without player input.
  • Glowing Eyes of Doom: Starting from partway into section 3, anytime they have Susie or Noelle use one of their special attacks during boss fights, their eye will glow.
  • Limited Animation: As usual, though they do sometimes have an Animation Bump when performing certain actions or during cutscenes, unlike Frisk who doesn't really have anything other than their walking animation.
  • Pre-Asskicking One-Liner: Delivers one to Frisk if you do the Obliteration Route in hard mode.
Susie: Kris? Are you thinkin’ what I’m thinkin’?
Kris: I think so. Shatter their heart and tell them to stay away from us?
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: They briefly show one of their red eyes for one animation frame when getting grabbed by Flowey in Section 1. Kris also shows one of their eyes when threatening Frisk in the Hard Mode’s Obliteration Route and if you try to recreate Deltarune Chapter 2’s Weird Route in Section 2.
  • Sheathe Your Sword: In Hard Mode, Flowey mentions Kris didn't even attempt to fight back against him when he confronted them.
  • Suddenly Speaking: They speak in the brief time that they're awake in Section 1's hard mode. They also start speaking if you attempt to imitate Deltarune's Snowgrave Route, prompting Kris to beg Noelle to freeze and throw away the SOUL.
    • By Section 3, Kris visibly speaks twice on-screen without the SOUL controlling them.

    Susie
The monster of the three heroes from the prophesy. She doesn't like following orders from anyone other than Kris and prefers to solve problems aggressively. She was mysteriously brought with Kris to a different world while having a sleepover at their house.
  • Be as Unhelpful as Possible: Depending on what actions the player does in chapter 3, Susie can learn about Kris being controlled by the SOUL and, if on the obliteration route, will gain the 'devious' status, which causes her to actively rebel at the SOUL's commands to be as frustrating to the SOUL as possible.
  • Berserk Button: Harming a child.
    • When Porkly gloats about being the one behind Paula's kidnapping, she runs after him in anger.
    • In Chapter 3, she is visibly angry after GG Underfell!Sans says how cathartic killing the Susie of this world was. It's down to the point where she doesn't believe sparing Sans was a good idea. It's hard to fault her for it, it takes a special kind of monster to kill a child and act like it's glorious.
  • The Brute: Has the strongest attack stat of the trio, has a powerful offensive spell, and is the only party member who can use Punch Cards in battle.
  • Comically Inept Healing: Inherits this from Chapter 2 of Deltarune. It's a little stronger in serious battles, but still too weak for its cost to be reliable.
  • Continue Your Mission, Dammit!: In the chapter 3 obliteration route, she will actively grab Kris if the player tries to fight the lesser dog and force them into the next room. Forcing Kris to re-enter the room several times will have Susie point out how pointless killing a scared little dog is to the player, before finally giving up once it's apparent that they can't talk the player out of it.
  • Everyone Has Standards: In the Hard Mode exclusive mini-boss against Toriel, Susie will refuse to perform violence against the otherworldly version of Kris' mom despite being attacked by her.
    • On an Obliteration Route, she'll refuse to attack Ness when he's at critical HP, only allows Kris to make her use Red Buster once, and attacks Kris if they attempt to make her use Red Buster from the third time onward.
  • Good Is Not Soft: On the pacifist route, she fully admits that she was very, very tempted to murder the Underfell version of Sans at the end of the fight, and outright questions Kris and Noelle if this version of Sans deserves any mercy. Considering Underfell Sans is a complete, unrelenting psychopath who gleefully admitted to murdering his world's version of Susie, it's not hard to blame her for questioning if sparing him was the right thing to do.
  • Innate Night Vision: Downplayed. Being a monster, Susie has better vision in the dark than humans and is able to see the Feraldrakes in the dark if you refuse to grab the torch.
  • Little "No": Her first reaction to attempting to kill the Lesser Dog on the Obliteration Route.
  • Pre-Asskicking One-Liner: Delivers one to Frisk if you do the Obliteration Route in hard mode.
Susie: ... Alright, freak. You have two choices. You either fuck off, or get mutilated. Take your pick.
  • She Knows About Timed Hits: Despite being unaware of button prompts, talking to her before fighting the training dummy in Hard Mode reveals that she's perfectly aware of TP, something that Undertale's Toriel doesn't know about.

    Noelle
A reindeer monster who has a crush on Susie and tends to be fairly sensitive. She was once dragged into a Dark World on accident and was convinced by Susie that it was All Just a Dream. Under unknown circumstances, she ended up in a different world and was found by Kris and Susie.
  • Alternate Self: To "Noel" in the Undertale and GG!Underfell universes.
  • An Ice Person: Has an offensive IceShock spell which she can use to make up for her low attack power and a pacifying Sleep Mist spell which spares Tired enemies. She can only use these spells if she is wielding an "ICE RING" or "ICE SLASH" type weapon. Otherwise, she can still use Heal Prayer since that spell is light-based magic.
  • Mundane Utility: She can use her ice magic to make a landing pad for the UFOs to spare them.
  • Red Mage: Like in Deltarune's Chapter 2, she can use three different kinds of spells: healing, pacifying, and offense.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: Temporarily pulls this on the group on an Obliteration Route after killing Snowy.
  • Self-Harm: Trying to attack a critically injured Ness with IceShock causes Noelle to attack herself.

Major

    SPOILER CHARACTER 1

Dess

Noelle’s lost sister. She’s stuck in the LOSTCORE with Gaster and clearly doesn’t like him too much.

Minor

    Toriel
Kris' adoptive mother. She woke up with Kris and Susie missing and assumes that they're having fun together.
  • Internal Reveal: When you enter Snowdin, you can call Toriel and tell her where you are, though this is completely optional and has no effect on the story.
  • The Voice: Since she's still in the world of Deltarune, she can only interact with Kris through the phone.

    Ralsei?
Whether or not he's the real Prince of the Dark, what matters is that he randomly shows up while smoking a huge blunt, and disappears after talking to him.
  • Joke Character: His only lines are “doobie” and questioning if he’s plot relevant. Seeing as he smokes a fat blunt while saying that, this should be obvious.

    SPOILER CHARACTER 2

The Discarded Vessel

The vessel created by the player with the assistance of Gaster that was ultimately thrown away in favor of Kris.
  • Big Damn Heroes: It warps Frisk into Lost Core during Hard Mode after Susie reunites with Kris. In the Obliteration route, this is right before Frisk can face the two and Noelle in combat and either get killed or possibly be able to kill them.
  • Early-Bird Cameo: According to posts on twitter, the discarded vessel is going to be an enemy faced in Section 8, meaning the one you fight at the end of Hard Mode is this.
  • Interface Screw: Their Sword Beam projectiles can persist after their turn ends and can still hit your SOUL in the menu.

    SPOILER CHARACTER 3

The New Vessel

A vessel that Gaster attempts to help the player craft in the Underfell world while Kris is away.
  • Imperfect Ritual: You are only able to complete the first part of the vessel creation: it's body. The imminent rearrival of Kris, Susie, and Noelle forces Gaster to activate the vessel to hide it under the bed, with him promising that you'll get to finish it soon. Unfortunately, likely due to you not having the chance to shape it's mind, waiting for long enough will eventually reveal it sneaking away from its hiding place and breaking out of the inn, suggesting that it will become a problem later on.
  • Slasher Smile: Sports one of these just before it sneaks out, further suggesting bad things will happen later involving it.

    Spamton G. Spamton
An insane [[Number 1 Rated Salesman1997]] who only shows up under an... impossible circumstance.
  • No Fair Cheating: As of version 3.0.2, you can no longer play UNOTRAVELER with IF!Papyrus if you're currently on an Obliteration Route. You can still have his prize items if you played the minigame in earlier versions. However, at the end of the room just after the last SAVE point in the intermission, if you're holding any illegal items, Spamton will appear out of nowhere, chews you out for "having fun", absorbs the items that would be impossible for you to have (including the ones in the dimensional box), then leaves through a squished grey door.

Main

    Frisk
A young human who fell into the Underground and is the essence holder of their world. In the main game, they're only seen unconscious in a cameo, but in the Section 1 exclusive hard mode, they're the Player Character.
  • Affectionate Nickname: They’re called baby Kris by Noelle and Dess.
  • Alternate Timeline: In Hard Mode, they take Kris' place as the leader.
  • Taking the Bullet: In Hard Mode, when Toriel suspects that Susie is trying to hurt Frisk, she tries to kill her, but Frisk takes the damage instead. To win the fight, Frisk needs to defend Susie enough times for Toriel to be more open to listening to Susie's story.
  • The Cameo: They never properly meet Kris and Susie in the main game as they're unconscious, but you can backtrack to see them laying down at the starting point of the game before leaving the Ruins. In the section 1 exclusive hard mode, however...
  • Face Framed in Shadow: They'll don this after killing Napstablook in the Obliteration Route.
  • Limited Animation: Prior to version 2.07, they have only one custom overworld sprite in the game, not counting the monochrome sprites which are effectively Palette Swaps of the original sprites. They're later given new sprites that directly mirror Kris' but only two of them are used, one for them lying on the bed of flowers, and the other for when they're getting up in Hard Mode.
  • Promoted to Playable: In Section 1's hard mode only.
  • Status Quo Is God: After Kris reawakens in Snowdin, a discarded vessel grabs Frisk and teleports them away, allowing the Delta Warriors' side of the story to continue as if the game was played normally.
  • Stronger Than They Look: They may be younger than Kris, but they have the same stats as the other human down to the same amount of HP, but they can’t use Red Buster with Susie during the Flowey fight.
  • You Have Researched Breathing: Because Frisk is new to ACTing, Susie has to teach them that they can tell her to ACT in order for S-Action to become available.

    The Fallen Child
Also known as Chara (or "Frisk" in Hard Mode), they possess the Frisk we play as after you force Susie to kill Napsablook and don’t take it kindly when you kill Flowey.
  • Adaptational Name Change: In Hard Mode, they share a name with Frisk, otherwise, they are always referred to as Chara.
  • Easter Egg: If you're playing a genocide run on Hard Mode and Check Flowey, it will say this:
    * FLOWEY - LV99
    * My best friend.
  • Psycho Knife Nut: If you backtrack back to the beginning of the Ruins and get Kris’ knife, they’ll snatch it out of Susie’s hands before she finishes examining it.
  • You Killed My Father: In the worst ending of Undertale, stabbing Flowey to death when Chara was taken aback by him taking Asriel's form earns Frisk some praise for being a "great partner". In here, though, Gaster remarks that Chara resents Frisk and/or the SOUL for making them kill their brother and best friend.

Major

    Flowey
A sentient flower who secretly wants to steal everyone's SOULs. After hearing Kris and Susie hail from a different world, he seeks to use their SOULs to take their place.
  • Adaptational Jerkass: Justified. Flowey in the original Undertale mostly left Frisk alone after his trickery failed, partly because he had plans for the child, partly because he was projecting Chara onto them. He has no reason to be so passive with Kris; once the player reaches the Ruins exit, where Flowey simple monologued in Undertale, here he threatens to invade Kris' world and tries to take their SOUL in a full-on boss fight.
  • Ambiguous Situation: If you let him live, he will have dialogue after the credits of the V2 version of the game revealing that he's completely aware of what's going on in the events of the game, specifically mentioning "edgy trashbag" (Underfell (RynoGG) Sans), though the circumstances to how he knows this is currently unknown. Though his tweets on the Deltatraveler Twitter account implies that he's been secretly following them around (at least on runs where you didn't kill him).
    • Possibly no longer ambiguous in Section 3, as when you backtrack through certain rooms, you can see Flowey quickly burrow back into the earth, much like Undertale. Then again, that may just be this world's version of Flowey...
  • Arc Villain: Of Section 1.
  • Demoted to Extra: While he does serve a role in telling you how to activate Hard Mode (if you spare him), he doesn't really serve any other purpose. Though he WILL remember every time you spare him, he acknowledges that nothing you do in the other worlds matter to him since you aren't in the Underground.
  • Even Evil Has Standards: Even though he's betting on "edgy trashbag" to challenge your "don't kill and don't be killed" beliefs, he doesn't think that what Underfell!Sans is doing is a good idea.
  • Fourth-Wall Mail Slot: On February 18, 2023, Flowey hijacked the official Deltatraveler twitter account, requesting for people's SOULs (promising to show a "special video" early if he gets seven).
  • Game-Over Man: If you die without saving the game, Flowey will tell Kris that they're "having a bad dream they'll never wake up from" and tells them that they should just save next time before you're booted back to the flower field in Section 1.
  • Offscreen Moment of Awesome: In Hard Mode, he takes out Kris by himself.
  • Wake-Up Call Boss: He replaces Toriel as the Ruins boss, and what a boss he is.
  • Your Size May Vary: His larger form is still shorter than Kris in the overworld, but as shown in the closing cutscene of his hard mode battle, he is much taller than them.

    Sans
The skeleton that needs no introduction, he aids the Delta Warriors by nudging them in the right direction and even sells items to them in Twoson.
  • All-Powerful Bystander: In spite of his capabilities, he makes no effort to oppose the travelers even when he suspects that they're going full genocide on the local critters and humans.
  • Evil Me Scares Me: He's notably disturbed at the bloodlust of his Underfell counterpart. Following that particular boss fight, Sans will apologize for his other self's actions and thank the group for stopping him.
  • Traveling Salesman: He follows the Delta Warriors through the grey doors and finds items in those worlds for him to sell to you.

    SPOILER CHARACTER 4

W. D. Gaster

The voice urging Kris to find him found in the LOSTCORE. He also conducts the alternate experiment where Frisk explores the Ruins with Susie.
  • Addressing the Player: Downplayed early on in which he doesn't directly mention the player, but he's definitely talking to them in the few moments where he speaks in Hard Mode, telling them that they need to lead the Delta Warriors (as in controlling Kris) to the LOSTCORE without his interference. On a secret scene in Section 3, however, he moves up close to the screen with human-like yellow and pink eyes and speaks to the player, either asking for their help for creating a new world or making a "Not So Different" Remark about how cruel they are.
  • Ambiguous Situation: The translated "Entry Number 18" reveals that upon learning about the three heroes who intend to banish the angel's heaven, Gaster sought out to use their determination for "something useful." What this is has yet to be seen.
  • Body Horror: Averted as he seems normal enough when encountered in LOSTCORE, unlike what you might expect from what is seen and said of him in Undertale. He does explain how horrifying his circumstances are in Section 3, though.
  • Medium Awareness: He's perfectly aware that the player has the ability to replay the game and that he would have no way of knowing if they did. He will also suspect that they're streaming the game if they're doing exactly that.
  • Nothing Left to Do but Die: The story explains that Gaster jumped into the CORE while holding Chara's indestructible Red SOUL as one last experiment before he passed from old age. The SOUL's effects left him scattered in time, immortal and omniscient but in a state of perpetual suffering.
  • Synthetic Voice Actor: When not speaking in Wingdings, he speaks in one of the voices found 123_abc_a.ogg.
  • Voice Grunting: When he speaks normally, his dialogue contrasts with that of every other character by fully using a normal-sounding text-to-speech voice. His grunting while speaking in Wingdinglish is a fraction of that voice instead of the Voice of the Legion text-to-speech jumble from Entry #17.
  • We Meet Again: Says as much toward Chara if you arrived after completing an Obliteration Route and states in Wingdinglish that there is a special place in hell for them.
  • Wingdinglish: As per usual, he speaks in Wingdings, though he does speak in readable text most of the time.
  • Would Hurt a Child: He blasts Frisk with Gaster Blasters at the end of Hard Mode.

Minor

    Toriel
The caretaker of the Ruins and the former queen of the Underground. She briefly mistook Kris for her adoptive child from many centuries ago before finding out that they came from a different world.
  • Adaptational Early Appearance: Not Toriel herself, of course, but rather the fight against her in Hard Mode. Because of her suspicions of Susie, you're forced to enter a shorter version of her fight to protect Susie. Problem is, Frisk starts the fight at 5 HP because they blocked Toriel's Always Accurate Attack from hitting Susie. Not only that, but you need Frisk to remain in the fight for long enough for them to either defend Susie for long enough to convince Toriel to listen to Susie or deal enough damage to Toriel (because Susie will refuse to fight) for her to realize her error on her own.
  • Affectionate Nickname: She’s labeled as “Otherworldly Mom” in Kris’ contacts.
  • Berserk Button: Do NOT call her "Dreemur", especially when she's in a bad mood.
  • Mama Bear: She attacks Susie assuming that she'll try to steal Frisk's SOUL in Hard Mode. Only when Frisk stands up for Susie does Toriel decide to hear Susie out.
  • Poor Communication Kills: In Hard Mode, she's suspicious of Susie due to her behavior and, fearing that she'll attack Frisk, tries to kill her. Fortunately, Frisk stands up for Susie and defends her until Toriel is more willing to listen to Susie.
  • Spared by the Adaptation: While you do get to fight her in Hard Mode, it's impossible to kill her even if you're going for the Obliteration Route. Attempting to defeat her by fighting will merely have her realize that it's unreasonable to attack Susie without context on her own.
  • The Unfought: She's the only monster from the Ruins who can't be fought by Kris under any circumstance. Subverted in Hard Mode where she’s the first enemy you fight besides the dummy.

    Napstablook
A lonely ghost that would rather not talk to anyone, they find comfort in the quaintness of the Ruins.
  • Route Boss: Napstablook will leave on a normal route in response to Susie talking to them. They can only be fought on an Obliteration Route if you say you'll beat them up. The reason this is done is to prevent you from killing them with Susie's magic on a normal route.
  • Weak to Magic: As a ghost, they can only be harmed by magic. In this case, they're particularly weak to Rude damage.

    Papyrus

    Undyne

EarthBound

Major

    Paula
One of the four essence holders of her world who knows psychic abilities known as PSI. She is found by the party in a cell in a house and assists them in finding the gray door. If the party massacres the animals in the surrounding area and members of Happy Happyism, however...
  • Adaptational Badass: She’s able to use PK Starstorm and attack you while you’re taking your turn in her boss fight.
  • Critical Hit: Her Clean Pan will cause the "SMAAAASH!!" visual to appear if you get all four crits. In her boss fight in the Obliteration Route, she will start hitting you with critical hits after you kill Ness. These critical hits consists of golden sparks which fly outward in a spinning circle before coming back together.
  • Defiant to the End: After you've depleted her HP, she'll yell that she won't die, and then will start a barrage of increasingly weaker attacks until she finally collapses and dies.
  • Dueling Player Characters: If you fulfill an Obliteration Route in Section 2, Paula will fight alongside Ness to punish you for your actions. One of her attacks even involves using "timed hits".
  • Face Framed in Shadow: Her general expression during her last stand against the party.
  • The Gloves Come Off: After you've killed Ness, she looks in horror and tries to revive him, but to no avail. And then, after all that, she calls the team monsters and goes all-out in her attacks.
  • Guest-Star Party Member: On a normal route, she'll ride on Kris' back in Section 2 and Kris can let her use PSI spells instead of ACTing. She may also assist Kris in some of their ACTs, but she can't initiate ACTs on her own.
  • Red Mage: As a Guest-Star Party Member, her PSI moves consists of two offensive spells, a defensive spell, and a healing spell. As an Obliteration Route superboss, she has way more.
  • Roaring Rampage of Revenge: In the Obliteration Route, she and Ness are the final boss of Section 2. After you kill Ness, Paula is absolutely PISSED and stops at nothing to tear you apart with her frying pan and PSI.
  • Robbing the Dead: Killing her in the Obliteration Route grants you her frying pan as a weapon.
  • Super Boss: Fights alongside Ness if you go on an Obliteration Route and gets even more brutal when you kill Ness first.
  • The Fourth Wall Will Not Protect You: In her last breaths during her fight as the super boss, she smashes her pan against the screen enough to make it crack.

    Porky
A selfish chubby kid who was one of the two people who locked Paula up.
  • Arc Villain: Of Section 2.
  • Bond Villain Stupidity: He uses a "slow ray" to lower your SOUL's speed. That would be pretty bad if he didn't also tell you that people who know how to use SOUL power can press [Z] to become temporarily invulnerable.
    • He also openly antagonizes the party right as they're about to leave the EarthBound world purely out of paranoia that their dimension-hopping will ruin Giygas' plans. This is despite the fact that they don't even know Giygas exists or is even a problem for anyone and they just want to find a way home. Needless to say, this ends poorly for him.
  • Made of Iron: His constant abuse of time travel has caused him to practically become invincible.
  • Morton's Fork: After depleting his mech's HP, Porky will give you the option of blowing up the (sentient) mech or sparing it. No matter what you do, the mech is destroyed either by you or Ness since Porky is able to unleash one final attack with it.
  • Xanatos Gambit: Downplayed. At the end of Porky's boss fight, if you destroy the mech, Porky will mock you for destroying something that didn't want to fight the heroes. If you spare it, he will attempt to blast you to bits and would've succeeded if it weren't for Ness. The Obliteration Route will have him somehow trick Ness and Paula into fighting you through the use of time travel from offscreen, knowing full well that you have the power to kill them.

Minor

    The Photographer
Exactly What It Says on the Tin, he’s a guy that takes photos of people to commemorate special moments in their journeys.

    Carpainter
The leader of a cult that wants to paint the world blue due to the influence of the Mani Mani Statue.
  • Ability Required to Proceed: You can meet him before finding Paula, but he'll just One-Hit Kill you with his "crash boom boom" technique. You'll need Paula's lightning badge in order to even initiate the fight against him.
  • Adaptational Nice Guy: Unlike EarthBound, the group can reason with him to get him to give up his Blue Cult.
  • Brainwashed and Crazy: The Mani Mani statue influenced him into getting everyone to paint the world blue. Once you get him to realize how awful the idea is, everyone snaps out of it.
  • King Mook: ... Kind of. He's not bigger than the Blue Cultists, but he's their boss, is dressed in a similar manner, uses more complex versions of their attacks, and takes much longer to defeat.
  • One-Hit Kill: He has a lightning spell that will kill you instantly without initiating a battle if you don't have the Franklin Badge. Once you do have the badge, it will reflect the spell back at him, taking away about a fifth of his HP and forcing him to fight you normally.

    Mondo Mole
The guardian of the second “Your Sanctuary” found in the Lilliput Caves.
  • Adaptational Nice Guy: Like most of the EarthBound enemies in this section, they can actively be reasoned with and spared. Potentially a justified example, in that they exist to test Ness and is mainly getting entertainment out of the party since they want by.
  • Healing Factor: He heals himself every turn before attacking. You can weaken this ability by using the "Disrupt" ACT.
  • King Mook: He's a giant mole with large bear like arms, making him this to both the Rough Moles and the Mighty Bears, using variations of both of their attacks.

    Ness
The protagonist of EarthBound and leader of the Chosen Four. He comes in at just the nick of time to help the Delta Warriors defeat Porky. If the party massacres the animals in the surrounding area and members of Happy Happyism, however...
  • Big Damn Heroes: If you choose to spare Porky, he’ll send him flying after Porky tries to attack the party.
  • Commonality Connection: During the fight against him and Paula, you can talk him out of fighting the party by having Kris discuss their lack of control over their own actions, leading Ness, another Player Character, into sympathizing with them.
  • Killed Off for Real: During his fight at the end of the Obliteration Route for Section 2, depleting all of Ness' health will cause him to permanently collapse. Paula attempts to use a Horn of Life to revive him, but to no effect.
  • Mana Burn: In his Obliteration Route fight, he has an attack that sucks your SOUL towards it and drains your TP if the PSI graphic overlaps with your SOUL.
  • Suddenly Speaking: In EarthBound, Ness doesn't talk at all outside of his thoughts. In his appearances at the end of Section 2, he talks to the Delta Warriors and Paula.
  • Taking the Bullet: During the fight at the end of the Obliteration Route, if you talk Ness and Paula out of fighting you and then attack Paula, Ness will jump in front of her and take the hit.
  • Weaponized Ball: During his boss fight in the Obliteration Route, Ness attacks the player's soul by using baseballs hit by baseball bats.

    Helpful Mole
A friendly mole who appears in various places, offering advice and the ability to change the flavor of the borders.
  • Recurring Character: It follows you to later sections, effectively serving as a means for you to be able to change your UI flavor in any section from "Oh, Mother" onward.
  • Unusually Uninteresting Sight: It always appears and has the same dialogue no matter what route you're on. Even if you've made a bloodbath out of Eagleland, it still jollily gives you the same hints about sparing enemies.

    Papyrus
An alternate version of Papyrus that’s a killer that abides by a kill or be killed philosophy enforced by a twisted version of the Underground while adding theatrics to how he slays his foes, but he’s still the lovable dope we’re used to.
  • Adaptational Intelligence: He's quite less dimwitted than his Undertale counterpart and is quickly able to memorize the main trio's names, opposed to how Undertale's Papyrus never gets Flowey's name right.
  • Affably Evil: Unlike his brother, he actually seems quite friendly despite his claims to being a famed murderer. He even saves Kris from Sans because he wants to capture a human "the humane way."
  • Art Evolution: Word of God states that his battle sprite was redrawn to look better.
  • Complexity Addiction: He can't just kill a human; it has to be a feat worthy of the Royal Guard! His love for traps is no end of annoyance for his version of Sans, who would prefer to just kill them and be done with it.
  • The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything: He claims to be a famed murderer, but makes no visible effort to do so unless there's a human involved (and even then, he never uses a direct approach).
  • Minion with an F in Evil: He tries to be a ruthless murderer so he can join the royal guard, but at the end of the day, he's still Papyrus.
  • Reverse Psychology: One of his tricks includes him telling you not to press any red buttons that you see on trees. Naturally, this would tempt you into falling for the very obvious trap.
  • Token Good Teammate: In a world where nearly everyone is psychotic, Papyrus claims to be a famed murderer but is still way too friendly to be considered truly evil. On a pacifist playthrough, seeing how insane his version of Sans has really become (to the point of almost pushing him off a cliff so he can get at Kris), he ultimately gives up trying to be a royal guard and instead decides to do his best to make his version of the underground a better place to live.
  • The Unfought: You don't fight him on either path. This is because Sans gets fed up with his traps and tries to push him off a cliff so he can be the one to kill the group.

    Sans
An alternate version of Sans that shows no mercy to any human he finds, only being able to be reined in by his brother.
  • Adaptational Villainy: Boy howdy. Directly contrasting the lazy comedian that we know and love, this Sans is a lunatic even among the maddened denizens of the Underfell continuity that immediately wants to kill the human with no ceremony or hesitation, gleefully touting his previous kills on the side. His only sympathetic trait is that he still cares for Papyrus, but it's not enough to stop him from kicking his brother aside when he decides he's not waiting to kill Kris any longer.
  • Adaptational Wimp: Unlike Undertale's Sans, who has to be tired out through constant attacking and will not take any damage until the final hit, this Sans can be temporarily distracted, causing him to take the hits, which means it takes much less time for him to go down. And his attacks are a lot more predictable, which makes them easier to figure out how to deal with. That said, his constant slaughter has tremendously raised his attack and health, so his fight is still far from a cakewalk.
  • Asshole Victim: Considering how heartless this version of Sans is, both his potential death scenes at the end of the section are treated as deserved, regardless of route. Undertale Sans won't even chastise you for it.
  • Badass on Paper: Downplayed. He has an attack power of 40 and is stated in his source material to be "the strongest enemy". While this makes him appear to be more dangerous than canon!Sans at a first glance, he's actually easier to manage at LV 1 since he lacks the ability to bypass Mercy Invincibility (though the invincibility frames become considerably shorter as your LV scales), and the Damage Over Time effect only kicks in if you're at least LV 5.
  • Corrupted Character Copy: He's basically what Sans would be if he bought into Flowey's belief that the Underground really is 'kill or be killed'. The result is a Sans who has zero qualms with killing someone even if they don't truly deserve it, because that is simply the only way to survive as a monster. Ironically, despite having a higher LV, he's actually weaker than the canon Sans, as his retribution doesn't tick off as much health as canon Sans' does, and it only kicks in if the player is above a certain LV themselves.
  • Doppelgänger Gets Same Sentiment: It's heavily implied throughout the story that something happened between him and his versions of Kris's friends that led him to becoming the way he is. Just before the fight against him, Sans reveals to Susie that he once met a young orphan who looked just like her and had the same name. He sadistically states that it was the most cathartic kill in his life.
  • Evil Counterpart: To the Sans who follows you around. Unlike the other monsters you see in Section 3, he seems to be the only monster who is genuinely malicious, immediately going after Kris the moment he first sees them.
  • Foreshadowing: His lines during the boss fight hint that this somehow isn't the first time "Kris has ruined his life", and he doubts that the Delta Travelers ended up here "again" by sheer coincidence.
  • Hate Sink: There's literally no redeeming qualities about him.
  • Human Popsicle: One way to kill Sans is by making Noelle freeze him in place with Ice Shock.
  • Hypocrite: If you choose to use Ice Shock to freeze him, he laments how cruel it is, despite all of his atrocities.
  • Interface Screw: Like the original Sans, his fight consists of bones travelling across the menu buttons to damage you mid-turn if you're not paying attention.
  • The Insomniac: If what Underfell Papyrus says is true on the pacifist route, Noelle using her sleep spell to put him to sleep is the first time in a very long while he's actually slept.
  • It's Personal: We never know exactly what caused this version of Sans to become the way he is, but it apparently involved his version of Kris, Susie, and Noelle, and it caused him to utterly despise the versions we're playing as because of how much they remind them of them.
  • No Kill like Overkill: In the Obliteration Route, Sans can get on the receiving end of the classic "Flowey gets brutally cut down 8 times" scene at the hands of Susie for killing her "Suzy" counterpart. While laughing maniacally, Sans is reduced to a pile of gore-like broken bones and dissolves into red mist.
  • Nonchalant Dodge: Like in Undertale, this is his typical response to attacks. Unlike in Undertale, the Delta Travelers get access to a "Distract" ACT that disables this for a turn with each use.
  • No-Nonsense Nemesis: The first we see of him is him immediately lunging for Kris' SOUL while they're distracted.
  • Noodle Incident: Apparently, he had a rather bad experience in the past that causes him to really hate Kris. The situation seems to have been linked with an experience with someone he encountered in the past, but who it is remains ambiguous. Notably, this piece of lore has so far only been featured in Deltatraveler and is absent in the original series.
  • Slasher Smile: His expressions become even more unhinged towards the end of the section as he becomes more desperate to bring about the demise of the Delta Travelers. His psychotic grins could give Flowey a run for his money.
  • Why Did It Have to Be Snakes?: During his fight, one of Noelle's solo distractions has her flow icy wind through the air. Despite it being rather tame compared to other distractions involving being obnoxious, insulting, dangerous, or loud, Sans is unnerved by it all the same likely due to past trauma involving ice magic.

Minor

    Toriel
An alternate version of Toriel driven mad from her isolation, even going as far to kill humans and monsters alike in the ruins.
  • The Cameo: You can only hear her muttering from behind the locked Ruins exit. From what little you can hear, you can tell that she's not in her right mind.

    The familiar Snowdrake
A Snowdrake who wants to prove his father wrong by making people laugh at his awful puns, though most of his jokes tend to come off as more threatening as he is malicious. He is a direct counterpart of "Snowy" in Deltarune.
  • Adaptational Badass: He is much stronger than the Snowdrake featured in Undertale, not only having higher stats but also having harder to dodge attacks.
  • Chekhov's Gunman: If you spared Snowy, he will return during the feral Chilldrake fight to calm down his friend and end the battle. Notably, this is the only way to spare the feral Chilldrake, as no one will arrive if Snowy's dead.
  • Mythology Gag: Similar to the Feraldrakes in the original series, Snowy can be snapped out of his malicious state if he's attacked.

    Chilldrakes
A group of Snowdrakes that wear shades. One in particular is close friends with Snowy.
  • Adaptational Early Appearance: In GG!Underfell, the only Chilldrake seen appears when everyone is about to repair the ladder after fending off the other Feraldrakes. Here, they appear as common enemies alongside the other enemies in both routes, opposed to in Undertale where you have to kill Snowy to make them appear, though this case is justified since calming down Snowy will make him not want to fight anymore.

    The Snowdin Canine Unit
A group of dog members of the Royal Guard who are stationed in Snowdin. An incident led them to distancing themselves from each other.

In General

  • Adaptational Badass: All of them, except for the Dogi, have attack patterns that are harder to deal with than in Undertale. And, like the monsters in Section 1, the method to spare them is much more complicated.

Doggo

A dog who is only able to see moving things.
  • Cherry Tapping: Susie's S-Action will have her sneak behind his sentry station and shake it, causing him to hit his head on the ceiling and take 1 damage. If one were to deliberately beat him up until he has only 1 HP left before calming him down, using S-Action at this point will kill him. The absurdity of the circumstances of Doggo's death is lampshaded through everyone's reaction in the post fight cutscene.

Dogi

A married dog couple that constantly say sickly sweet things to each other.
  • Adaptational Nice Guy: Unlike most depictions of Underfell monsters, they are easily the ones who are by far the closest to their canon counterparts.
  • Route Boss: They can only be fought on an Obliteration Route. Otherwise, the group will automatically claim Kris isn't a human, which they will buy completely.
  • Skippable Boss: When they confront the group on an Obliteration Route, the player can avoid fighting them if they claim they aren't a human. Doing this aborts the route, however.
  • Turns Red: Dogaressa literally does this if Dogamy is killed first, turning hostile and drastically raising her attack.

Lesser Dog

This soft, loving dog has seen better days.
  • Adaptational Badass: In addition to the above, it also has a shield, which reduces the damage that your attacks deal.
  • Skippable Boss: Fighting him is entirely optional on normal routes. Averted if you're on an Obliteration route, however, and you have to be rather insistent on wanting to kill it since Susie and Noelle try to discourage you from doing so.

GREATERDOG

"Cold and stern" leader of the Snowdin Canine Unit, trained to kill all humans and anyone who sides with them.
  • Just Following Orders: One of GREATERDOG's flavor texts states that this is the case.
  • Punch-Clock Villain: It tries to kill you because it was trained by Dr. Alphys to kill. Once you remove its intimidating accessories, only a few encouraging words are enough to turn it back into a "good boy".

    The "Feraldrakes"
A group of five Snowdrakes who went malicious while searching for their friend, Snowy.
  • Nerf: In episode 5 of GG!Underfell, one of the Feraldrakes' bullet patterns is rather erratic, meaning that by the time you see a bullet coming your way, it's too late to dodge it. Word of God states that this attack was nerfed. It's also been mentioned that there's a way to spare them via ACTing, unlike in the original series where hitting them is the only way to pacify them.
  • Mythology Gag: Just like in episode 5 of GG!Underfell, all but the last Feraldrake will immediately become sparable upon taking damage.

    The family of bunnies
Bunnies who were forced into hiding in a forest cabin after things got bad in Snowdin.

    Glyde
An egotistical flying manta ray-like creature that's hiding in the room in front of the Mysterious Door. Seems to be... normal somehow?

    The Katana Wielder (Secret Boss)

Jerry

An obnoxious monster who has gained lots of LV in hopes of getting people's respect.
  • Adaptational Badass: In Undertale, Jerry has no attacks of its own, only extending the enemy's turn by two seconds. Here, it proves to be an expert swordsman- er, swordsmonster who can trigger its Nigh-Invulnerability at will.
  • Adaptational Gender Identity: In Undertale, Jerry is only referred with it/its pronouns. Here, Jerry is also referred to as a "he".
  • Establishing Character Moment: Straight up kills Glyde in a single attack in the middle of its first turn, revealing that he isn't very harmless anymore.

TS!Underswap

(These characters aren't mentioned or heard in game but have been confirmed by Word of God to be revealed in a later section.)

Main

    Chara
An alternate version of Chara that takes Frisk’s role in a Role Swap AU of Undertale. They are planned to be the Guest-Star Party Member during during Mirror, Mirror?.
  • Guest-Star Party Member: As mentioned in their bio, they will join during Section 5, being piggybacked by Kris like Paula.

Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story

(These characters aren't mentioned or heard in game but have been confirmed by Word of God to be revealed in a later section.)

Unconfirmed role

    The Mario Bros.
Mario and Luigi, the two heroes of the Mushroom Kingdom whose most recent adventure had been kickstarted by them being inhaled by Bowser. They are currently looking for a "Star Cure."
  • Speaking Simlish: Despite Deltatraveler going with the trope that the player can't understand what the character they're controlling is saying, Word of God confirms that both bros will still talk with their Italian gibberish with everyone else understanding what they're saying perfectly.

Real People

Characters who are based off of people in real life who appeared at least once in Deltatraveler media.
    Shayy
A Froggit who apparently managed to slaughter the entire underground at LV 1 in an alternate Undertale timeline. He represents the real world speedrunner of the same name.

Other

    Papyrus (Inverted Fate)
A scientist version of Papyrus from a world where roles are changed. He offers to play Uno with you.
  • Breather Episode: After going through the world of Underfell, he mainly serves to give the player a light hearted breather after was the nightmare that was Underfell Sans.
  • Dimensional Traveler: Like the main characters, he too fell through one of the grey doors and is trying to get back home.
    "The Replicas"
Three vessels modeled after the Deltatravelers.

COMMANDER (Kris-X)

BRUTE (Susie-X)

ANGEL (Noelle-X)
