Mizuki Suzushiro

Mizuki Suzushiro

The main character of the series. Mizuki is a really girly-looking guy who is greatly annoyed by how everyone keeps mistaking him for a girl all the time. One day, the trickster goddess decides to mess with him because she's bored and Mizuki wakes up with breasts and a missing part of his anatomy.

• Ambiguously Bi: Mizuki's sexual orientation, and how his transformation affected it, is very open to interpretation.
  • He starts out expressing an attraction to Yumeko. His transformation does not change these feelings, but does cause him to realize he was never romantically interested in her in the first place. If Mizuki was ever actually into girls at all is something the manga doesn't dwell on.
  • After becoming female, Mizuki quickly starts to fall for Takeru. But becoming male again doesn't suddenly make Mizuki stop being in love with him. One possibility is that Mizuki was always attracted to boys and the transformation didn't actually change that. Another is that it did shift his orientation toward males, but Mizuki's feelings for Takeru specifically grew past the point of needing it.
• Ambiguous Gender Identity: Mizuki insists that he wants to be manly and turn back into a boy as soon as possible. However, there are many hints that Mizuki actually enjoys girly stuff more than he likes to admit and had since long before being turned biologically female. Whether it was brought on by Loki's forceful transformation or being a girl was just a convenient excuse to stop pretending is never stated directly, but even after Mizuki spends some time as a male again, she happily embraces a new life as a girl.
• Attractive Bent-Gender: Mizuki is incredibly cute both as a boy and as a girl, though outside of anatomical differences he doesn't look especially different. People of both genders keep falling for Mizuki and many don't care about Mizuki's gender because Mizuki is beautiful either way.
• Because You Were Nice to Me: Mizuki developed his crush on Fujiwara because she helped him out when a guy was making fun of his girly handkerchief.
• Butt-Monkey: Through his entire life, Mizuki's feminine looks made it impossible for anyone to view him as a guy. Even his crush thinks of him as a girl and likes his Best Friend better. As if things weren't difficult enough for him, the goddess Loki chooses him as her personal plaything and sets out to put him through any humiliation she can think of.
• Childhood Friend Romance: With Takeru. They have been best friends since childhood and once Mizuki turns into a girl, the romantic and sexual tension between them only keeps growing. They become a couple and start dating at the end of the series.
• Class Representative: He's the representative of his class along with Fujiwara, which allows him to spend more time with her.
• Claustrophobia: Mizuki is a bit scared of being trapped in an enclosed space because of a childhood trauma involving his father locking up him in a warehouse as punishment for wearing girl's clothes.
• Clingy Jealous Girl: As Mizuki develops feelings for Takeru as a girl, Mizuki becomes easily jealous when Takeru is with girls like Fujiwara and Imai.

• Expository Hairstyle Change: Mizuki has short hair for most of the series. In the final chapter, Mizuki now has long hair since she decided to stay a girl forever.
• Expository Pronoun: Mizuki was originally a boy and keeps using the boyish first-person pronoun boku after getting a magical sex change because he still wants to think of himself as a boy. Ultimately, Mizuki chooses to stay a girl, but keeps referring herself as boku to show she isn't going to give up all of her boyish personality traits even though she identifies as a girl now and it's one of the last remnants of her previous male identity.
• Flowers of Femininity: Even before the transformation into a girl, Mizuki has always been very beautiful and feminine. Mizuki occasionally wears flower hair ornaments when wearing girl's clothes. There are also illustrations of Mizuki holding flowers or being surrounded by them.
• Friend to Bugs: Mizuki loves insects and collecting them is one of his favorite hobbies.
• Gender Bender: Loki turns him into a girl just to mess with him.
• Gender Bender Angst: All Mizuki has ever wanted is being viewed and taken seriously as a man after a lifetime of everyone except for his male best friend treating him like a girl because of his feminine looks. Being transformed into a real girl by a trickster goddess makes his goal of being manly even more impossible. He considers being a girl prevents him from confessing to his crush Fujiwara, which is his main motivation for turning back into a boy quickly. Eventually, however, Mizuki comes to enjoy being a girl and it's shown Mizuki had girly interests since a young age, but was forced to act manly by his father. At the end of the manga, Mizuki turns down the chance of turning back into a boy because she wants to stay a girl and date Takeru.
• Gender-Blender Name: Mizuki is a very feminine Japanese name.
• Girls Love Stuffed Animals: Mizuki loves stuffed animals, something that comes from before turning into a girl.
• Girly Girl with a Tomboy Streak: Mizuki gradually grows to embrace being a girl in body and mind, but she retains some tomboyish traits. In the epilogue, Mizuki has let her hair grow long and dresses very femininely, but she still loves bugs and has become the leader of the female aikido club.
• Going Commando: He refuses to wear bras after his transformation into a girl because he still thinks of himself as a boy.
• Green-Eyed Epiphany: Mizuki starts to realize he has feelings for Takeru when he finds himself getting jealous of Takeru spending time with Fujiwara instead of him.

Even Mizuki's own father is obsessed with Mizuki's beauty.
• Long Hair Is Feminine: In the final chapter, Mizuki has let her hair grow long now that she decided to live as a girl.

One day, some bullies ripped up Mizuki's treasured stuffed animal and Takeru had his mom fix it up so he could give it back to Mizuki. After that, Mizuki realized Takeru was a really nice kid and they became best friends.
• Sensitive Guy and Manly Man: The Sensitive Guy to Takeru's Manly Man.
• Sex Shifter: In the last third of the series, Loki uses her magic so that Mizuki's body will change back and forth between boy and girl depending on him being flustered about Fujiwara or Takeru respectively. Once Thor forces Loki to return to Asgard, Mizuki is allowed to choose a permanent gender.
• She Cleans Up Nicely: When Mizuki puts on a dress, s/he looks so good that Takeru is dumbfounded.

• Through His Stomach: In the bonus final chapter, Mizuki decides to make a bento for Takeru now that they're officially a couple. Takeru, however, gets worried because Tamako taught Mizuki how to cook. Surprisingly, Mizuki's bento turns out to actually be good.
• Tsundere: Mizuki shows subtle signs of a Sweet type. Mizuki is polite and sweet-tempered, but has a very hard time coming to terms with feeling attracted to Takeru after becoming a girl. It's also obvious Mizuki likes girly stuff and just doesn't want to admit it.
• Unresolved Sexual Tension: With Takeru. They are clearly attracted to each other, but issues such as their friendship from before Mizuki turned into a girl and Mizuki wishing to turn back into a boy keep them from giving in to those feelings and getting together. Thankfully, they get together at the end of the series.

Mizuki's best friend who has known him since they were kids. Takeru is the only one who treats Mizuki as a guy, but after his friend turns into a girl, things begin to get confusing for him as he finds himself more and more attracted to Mizuki.

• Best Friend: He has been Mizuki's closest friend since childhood because Takeru was the only one who actually treated him like a guy. However, their relationship starts heading towards romance once Mizuki is turned into a girl.
• Cannot Spit It Out: He spends the entirety of the story unable to admit his growing feelings for Mizuki. He only confesses towards the end of the series.
• Childhood Friend Romance: With Mizuki. He has been Mizuki's Best Friend since they were children and after Mizuki turns into a girl, they become greatly attracted to each other. They become boyfriend and girlfriend at the end of the series.
• Closet Key: Initially, one could assume Mizuki could only have become attracted to Takeru because the gender transformation affected his sexuality. However, Mizuki remains attracted to Takeru even when he's temporarily returned to being male. That said, instead of living as a gay or bisexual boy, Mizuki ends up Jumping the Gender Barrier (though not entirely on account of Takeru) to live as a straight girl.
• Covert Pervert: He appears to be a nice and decent guy, but his fantasies about Mizuki can turn... wild very often.
• Crazy Jealous Guy: He becomes very pissed when anyone other than Fujiwara gets too close to Mizuki. Specially if it's Yamada.
• First Guy Wins: Takeru is the first of Mizuki's love interests introduced and has known Mizuki the longest due to them being childhood friends. He's Mizuki's unarguable main love interest for the entire manga and he becomes Mizuki's boyfriend at the end of the story.
• Forceful Kiss: In chapter 17, Takeru just can't hold his confused self back anymore and kisses Mizuki in a heated moment. Mizuki doesn't take it well.
• Gag Penis: In the bathroom, Mizuki gets intimidated at the sight of the "elephant" hanging from Takeru's crotch.
• Hunk: He's very muscular, as shown well in chapter 1.
• I Don't Want to Ruin Our Friendship: The one thing holding him back from admitting his feelings for Mizuki is the long friendship they had as guys and the fear that Mizuki could hate him if Takeru confesses he has fallen for Mizuki as a girl.

• Accidental Kiss: In chapter 63, she accidentally kisses Mizuki when they get pushed in a crowd.
• Because You Were Nice to Me: She developed a crush on Takeru after he helped her when she tripped on her way to school.
• Boyish Short Hair: She had very short hair when she was a tomboyish child. In the final chapter, Fujiwara has cut her hair to shoulder-length to represent how she has grown more comfortable with expressing her interest in Tokusatsu.
• Cannot Spit It Out: She can't bring herself to confess her feelings for Takeru. The one time she got to tell him, she didn't say it properly and he misunderstood it as her saying she liked Mizuki.
• Class Representative: She shares this position with Mizuki.
• Closet Geek: She's a Tokusatsu fan, but tries to be discreet about it because she thinks it's weird for a girl to like that sort of thing.
• Cross-Cast Role: She gets assigned the role of the prince in a School Play of "Cinderella".
• The Ditz: She's quite the airhead.
• Girly Girl with a Tomboy Streak: She's very cute, girly, and happens to love mecha and tokusatsu superheroes. She often behaves more masculine than the manliness-obsessed Mizuki.
• The Glasses Gotta Go: She wore Opaque Nerd Glasses in middle school. Since these made her appear rather plain-looking, Mizuki can't even recognize her in an old photo. She looks way cuter without glasses.
• If It's You, It's Okay: She eventually does fall for Mizuki and makes clear she doesn't care if Mizuki is a boy or a girl for them to be together.
• Important Haircut: In the epilogue, she cut her hair after being turned down by Mizuki.
• Kindhearted Simpleton: She's pretty ditzy and clueless, but still an extremely sweet girl.
• Last-Name Basis: Loki is the only person who calls her by her given name Yumeko.
• Nice Girl: Possibly the kindest soul in the entire manga. Among other things, she feels horribly guilty on calling Mizuki a pervert when she saw him wearing panties.
• Oblivious to Love: She doesn't notice Mizuki has a crush on her and carelessly asks him to help her get closer to Takeru.
• Otaku Surrogate: Fujiwara has loved mecha and tokusatsu superheroes since she was a child. She's aware those are stereotypically boyish and any girls who might have shared her interest have since outgrown it.
• Paper-Thin Disguise: Her disguise as YumeYume doesn't get to fool anyone.
• Romantic False Lead: Fujiwara is set up as Mizuki's love interest when the story is clearly about the relationship between Mizuki and Takeru.
• Romantic Runner-Up: She's a very sweet girl, Mizuki likes her a lot from the beginning and she eventually returns those feelings after they become closer. Too bad for her that the manga is built around Mizuki and Takeru's budding romance.
• Secret-Keeper: In chapter 38, Mizuki reveals to her that he turned into a girl to clear some misunderstandings and she promises to keep his secret.
• Single Woman Seeks Good Man: She likes Takeru because he's a very nice and supportive guy.
• Terrible Artist: Her landscape picture looks more like a painting from Picasso.
• Used to Be a Tomboy: She was very tomboyish when she was a child, but since her mother wouldn't stop nagging about it, she became girly after entering middle school. She still kept her tomboy streak, though.

The Norse goddess of trickery. Loki has decided to turn her eye to the mortal world for a new form of entertainment. She decides to have some fun by turning the girly-looking guy Mizuki into an actual girl.

• Age-Inappropriate Dress: The outfit she wears out of disguise is basically a sexy revealing bikini. While Loki is a Really 700 Years Old goddess, she physically looks like a girl between 12 and 13.
• Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: At school, she pretends to be a nice and innocent, if Innocently Insensitive girl, when she's actually trying to screw Mizuki over.
• But Now I Must Go: Zig-zagged. In the closing chapters, Loki is forced to leave the human world after Thor finds her. Then Loki comes back at the end of the final chapter, but she only briefly checks on Mizuki before looking for the next victim of her pranks.
• Compulsory School Age: She's an ancient goddess, but thanks to having the appearance of a teenage girl, she can pass off as a high school student and transfer to Mizuki's class.
• Curtains Match the Window: Yellow hair and yellow eyes to match.
• Cute Little Fangs: Her fangs indicate her mischievous and trickster character.
• Fear of Thunder: Thanks to punishment by Thor, Loki has a pretty strong fear of the sound of thunder.
• Femme Fatalons: She has very long and sharp painted nails in her goddess form.
• Girlish Pigtails: She wears her hair in a pair of twintails to emphasize her childish personality.
• God in Human Form: She's a goddess who has taken human form in order to mess with the mortal world now that she has grown bored with just playing pranks to the other gods. However, she has to deal with downsides of having a human body such as being able of catching a cold.
• Hellish Pupils: She has cat-like slit pupils.
• Historical Gender Flip: This Loki is a girl while the original Loki from Norse Mythology was male, although he also could turn into a woman (or basically anything else). Lampshaded near the end of the manga when Takeru points out the mythological figure Loki is supposed to be a guy after he forgets all about the Loki he knew as a classmate.
• Immortal Immaturity: While she's an ancient goddess, Loki acts like a mischievous little girl who only wants to cause trouble so she doesn't get bored. Might be justified since she is the goddess of trickery and that makes her a childish prankster by nature.
• In the Hood: The cape of her goddess form comes with a horned hood.
• Innocently Insensitive: Loki plays herself off as this in school, such as commenting on how girls can wear the boys uniform when first seeing Mizuki.
• It Amused Me: Loki decided to make a mess out of Mizuki's life because she was bored of just playing pranks to the other gods.
• Jerkass God: The goddess of trickery obviously wouldn't be a nice person.
• Loving Bully: Loki just loves causing trouble for Mizuki and making him feel miserable. Later on, she shows hints that she has grown fond of him as more than just a toy.
• More Teeth than the Osmond Family: One of her more noticeable features are her shark-like teeth. Nobody seems to be bothered the least bit by it.
• New Transfer Student: She transfers to Mizuki's class so she can mess with him even more.
• The Prankster: Pranks are everything Loki lives for.
• Really 700 Years Old: She looks like a preteen girl, but as the Loki from Norse Mythology, she's obviously MUCH older than she appears.
• Ret-Gone: After Loki is forced to leave the human world by Thor, everyone except for Mizuki forgets about her.

Mizuki's new roomate and the heir to a lingerie company. He knows Mizuki is physically female, but not that he was gender bent and he decides he wants to make "her" his wife.

• Abhorrent Admirer: Mizuki rebuffs Yamada's romantic advances, often violently, because even though Yamada is good-looking, he's a very annoying perverted weirdo.
• Bully Magnet: In his backstory, the other kids of his neighborhood picked on him because his father runs a lingerie company.
• Camp Straight: He's highly flamboyant and rather obsessed with women's underwear to the point of wearing it regularly due being heir to a lingerie company. He is also attracted to Mizuki, who he knows is physically female, but not that "she" wasn't born that way.
• The Chew Toy: Only Loki's crow familiar gets a similar amount of physical abuse and Amusing Injuries as Yamada.
• Creepy Crossdresser: He likes to wear women's underwear, which people find creepy.
• Important Haircut: In chapter 48, he cut his hair short as part of his "rebirth".
• It Runs in the Family: His father is a flamboyant crossdresser who goes around in women's underwear, just like him.
• Long-Haired Pretty Boy: He has curly hair flowing down his back, and most girls are attracted to him.
• Meaningful Rename: He changes his Mysterious Middle Initial from "V." to "W." after renewing his pursue of Mizuki. Well, it's significant for him at least.
• Prince Charmless: He has everything that would make him a Princely Young Man (heir of a big company, good looks, popular). However, his obsession with women's underwear and general creepy behavior make it impossible to find him attractive.
• Self-Proclaimed Love Interest: He declares Mizuki to be his future wife shortly after they meet, even though both Mizuki and Takeru loudly object to this.
• Single-Target Sexuality: He claims there are only two things that get him aroused: female underwear and Mizuki. He eventually declares he doesn't care whether Mizuki is a boy or a girl; Mizuki is the only one he loves.
• That Man Is Dead: He promised to stop his advances on Mizuki if he helped him drive Tamako away. After they succeed, he keeps pursuing Mizuki under the excuse that the old him died and the new him has been reborn to continue loving Mizuki.
