The Main Duo

    General
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/babycl.jpg

The two main characters, Chiara and Ludovica. They share the same secret life, which is Very Loosely Based on a True Story.

  • Adaptation Name Change: They are based on two girls who were referred to by the fake names Angela and Agnese in the news coverage, during the "Baby Squillo" scandal (their true identities are unknown for protection).
  • Age Lift: In real life, Angela and Agnese were 15 and 14 during the "Baby Squillo" scandal. In this show, Chiara and Ludovica are at least 16 years old in the first season, and Ludovica turns 18 in season 3.
  • Broken Bird: Especially Ludovica (who is a cynical loner since the beginning) but both girls go through a lot of emotional trauma throughout the show, which is expected as they are teenagers involved in prostitution.
  • Dude Magnet: An unfortunate example, but they attract many guys, often older than them.
  • Fille Fatale: They are both attractive teenagers who know how to be seductive.
  • Good Bad Girl: They have a Secret Identity as teen prostitutes, but both are portrayed as sympathetic characters who are unhappy with their lives.
  • Hooker with a Heart of Gold: Despite their double life, both are ultimately good girls who care about other people. The "hooker" part is gone by the end of the show.
  • I Just Want to Be Special: For different reasons. Chiara feels underwhelmed by her normal life, while Ludovica thinks seducing men is the only thing she is good at.
  • Light Feminine and Dark Feminine: Their reputation. The blonde Chiara is seemingly a wholesome model student (her name actually means "light"), while the brunette Ludovica is already known as a wild and provocative bad girl.
  • Ms. Fanservice: They often wear skimpy outfits when they go to parties and events.
  • Odd Friendship: Chiara is an overachieving Class Princess from a rich family, Ludovica is an underachieving outcast from a poor family. They become very close friends.
  • Really Gets Around: They sleep with many men throughout the show. Ludovica decides to stop in season 3, and eventually Chiara does it too.
  • Secret Sex Worker: School Idol Chiara befriends Troubled Teen Ludovica at her elite high school and falls into the world of teen prostitution with her, both of them hiding this from everyone they know. Chiara struggles with maintaining her good girl, Academic Athlete public image for the entire series until she publicly confesses to being a prostitute at the very end.

     Chiara Altieri
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/chiarab.png
Played by: Benedetta Porcaroli

A rich 16-year-old student who is secretly Living a Double Life along with her friend Ludovica.

  • Academic Athlete: She is an honor student, and is able to win running competitions in her school.
  • All Girls Want Bad Boys: Her two love interests Damiano and Niccolò are both bad boys, in different ways.
  • Always Someone Better: To her friend Camilla. She beats her in a running race, and wins the affection of Damiano, a guy Camilla also liked.
  • The Beard: To Brando, who blackmails Chiara into pretending to be his girlfriend, in order to hide his homosexuality at the end of season 2. She only does it because Brando has some compromising photos about Chiara's double life.
  • Broken Ace: She seemingly has a perfect life, with money, beauty, and good grades, but she's secretly struggling to find her identity and is not happy with herself. The marriage crisis of her parents doesn't help. At the end of the show, she ends up in a group home after her secret life as a prostitute becomes public.
  • Class Princess: She's rich, beautiful, smart, athletic, has good friends, and is nice to her classmates. She turns into a Fallen Princess quite soon, though.
  • Everyone Loves Blondes: She is blonde and considered beautiful by her clients. Even at school, both the Big Man on Campus and the resident bad boy fall in love with her.
  • Fallen Princess: Her reputation at school is ruined several times for various reasons. Drifting apart from her friends, hanging out with the unpopular Ludovica, the revelation of her secret affair with Niccolò, etc. By the end of the show, her life falls apart after her public confession of her double life.
  • Girly Girl with a Tomboy Streak: She is rich, wears fashionable clothes, attends fancy parties and formal events, and spends much of the show using her feminine appeal. But she is also a competitive athlete who does running races.
  • Good Girl Gone Bad: Going from Class Princess to teenage prostitute who goes out with older men.
  • Hair of Gold, Heart of Gold: Chiara has blonde hair, and is one of the nicest and friendliest characters in the series.
  • Nice Girl: Despite her many mistakes, Chiara is generally nice to other people. Or at least she tries to be, unless she's really upset.
  • Only Friend: She is Ludovica's only friend in season 1. In later seasons, Ludovica also starts bonding with Fabio.
  • Riches to Rags: Chiara is a wealthy Class Princess until the end of season three, when she ends up in a group home, losing almost everything she had before.
  • Spoiled Sweet: She came from the wealthy family and she’s very generous to be around with.
  • Stepford Smiler: A very sad example. She puts on her wholesome schoolgirl image around friends and family, but she feels empty inside, to the point that she's manipulated into prostitution to feel more "freedom". She gets better in the finale.
  • Well-Intentioned Extremist: In season 2, she decides to start again to work as a prostitute for Fiore, as long as Fiore stops blackmailing Damiano, Chiara's boyfriend. Although a few episodes later, Natalia accuses Chiara of being a Not-So-Well-Intentioned Extremist who only wants a double life to feel more "powerful" and not just for Damiano.

     Ludovica Storti
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ludovb.jpg
Played by: Alice Pagani

A troubled girl who only lives with her single mother. She befriends Chiara and they start Living a Double Life.

  • All Girls Want Bad Boys: She is romantically involved with Fiore, her pimp who is clearly a dangerous adult man.
  • All of the Other Reindeer: Ludovica is ridiculed and bullied in school due to her promiscuous reputation, and is a social outcast.
  • Aloof Dark-Haired Girl: A mysterious, beautiful, black-haired girl who is mostly a loner. Outside of school, she is a Fille Fatale.
  • Book Dumb: She has always been a terrible student, mainly because of demotivation. By the end of the show, she decides to apply herself and does well in the final exam.
  • Character Development: By season 3, she learns to accept herself, gets along better with her mother, befriends Fabio, starts studying seriously, and quits prostitution.
  • Earn Your Happy Ending: Ludo was bullied in school and was in a middle of being a prositute in her entire life, until Ludo gets her shit together by graduating from school, stops the prostitution and moves to France.
  • Foolish Sibling, Responsible Sibling: She is the screwed-up sibling, while her sister Francesca is the serious and responsible one.
  • Freudian Excuse: She only lives with her irresponsible mother, her father lives away and couldn't care less about her, she is struggling financially, her family can't pay the school fees, and is in danger of being kicked out of the school and losing the first friend she has ever had. That's why she is manipulated into prostituting herself.
  • Hidden Depths: In season 3, it's revealed that she has a talent for drawing.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Behind her inconsiderate, rude, and confrontational behavior, she's really a lonely girl with a good heart. She has a genuinely sweet side when she bonds with someone.
  • Karma Houdini: Downplayed. While Chiara ends up in a group home in the final, Ludovica doesn't face any legal consequences, and is free to go to a comic school in Paris. But Ludovica's mother ends up in jail and Ludovica herself suffers a lot throughout the show, since she had a real Freudian Excuse, unlike Chiara, who only wanted a more exciting life.
  • Shipper on Deck: She seems to ship Chiara and Damiano. In a season 2 scene, she tells Damiano that she's glad that he makes Chiara happy.
  • Toxic Friend Influence: It's Ludovica who introduces Chiara to Saverio and the world of underage prostitution. Inverted in season 3: Ludovica decides to quit and tries to convince Chiara to do the same, but Chiara doesn't want to until the finale.
  • Troubled Teen: She is poor, has a horrible home, and is ostracized by her classmates.
  • The Unfavorite: His father prefers Francesca, Ludovica's sister. Ludovica overhears her father saying these words to Francesca, "Thankfully you're not like Ludovica, that's why you are my favorite".

Other Students

    Damiano Younes
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/babyd.jpg
Played by: Riccardo Mandolini

A new student and the illegitimate child of the Lebanese ambassador to Italy.

  • Bully Hunter: He stands up for Fabio when he is picked on by a Gang of Bullies. He later threatens Niccolò if the latter ever tries to torment Fabio again.
  • Chick Magnet: Damiano attracts Chiara, Camilla, Natalia, Aurora, and his ex-girlfriend Vanessa.
  • Fish out of Water: A new student at Parioli's elite high school, and is clearly a misfit since he grew up in a poor neighborhood.
  • Hero with Bad Publicity: He actually tries to be nice to people who are nice to him, but has a bad reputation because of his background and attitude. He also gets unfairly blamed (and almost expelled) for vandalizing the headmaster's office when Niccolò actually did.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: While he is aloof, very moody, and easily frustrated, it's shown how much he cares about the others. He loves Chiara and he also tries to protect other people (Ludovica, Fabio, Natalia) more than once.
  • Karma Houdini: At the end, he doesn't receive much comeuppance for drug dealing, working for Fiore, and other stuff. That said, Fiore was blackmailing him.
  • Rags to Riches: Damiano grew up with his mother in the Wrong Side of the Tracks. After his mother dies, he moves in with his father (an ambassador), but has trouble fitting in the new family and the private school.
  • Sensitive Guy and Manly Man: Manly Man to Fabio's Sensitive Guy. He is the aloof bad boy of the school, Fabio is a short, dorky nice guy.
  • Sugar-and-Ice Personality: He keeps his bad boy/tough guy exterior, but he's nicer than many other characters.
  • Troubled, but Cute: An outsider who grew up in Wrong Side of the Tracks, has a lot of issues, and doesn't interact well with others. There are girls like Chiara and Camilla who attracted to him because of his Hidden Heart of Gold.
  • Well-Intentioned Extremist: In season 3, to save Chiara from her involvement in prostitution, he decides to help a private investigator who asks him to secretly film Chiara.

     Camilla Govender Rossi
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/babycam.png
Played by: Chabeli Sastre Gonzalez

Chiara's (former) best friend and Niccolò's sister.

  • Academic Alpha Bitch: She is an ambitious student, a pretentious know-it-all, and her attitude is uptight at best and outright bitchy at worse.
  • Academic Athlete: Like Chiara, she is an honor student and also an athlete who takes part in running races.
  • All Girls Want Bad Boys: Downplayed. In season 1, she has a crush on local bad boy Damiano because she thinks he has a Hidden Heart of Gold, after talking to him. She gets over it, when she realizes Damiano likes Chiara.
  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: She thinks of herself as a mature good girl, but she is not a nice friend, and has a mean streak. She gets worse in season 2.
  • Fair-Weather Friend: Other than being an unreliable friend to Chiara, she also becomes this to Fabio (her other best friend) in season 2. When Fabio gets bullied by Camilla's brother and his friends, Camilla doesn't even try to defend him.
  • Foolish Sibling, Responsible Sibling: She is the hardworking goody-two-shoes (Responsible), while her brother Niccolò is the more immature one.
  • Holier Than Thou: Camilla is very judgmental and quick to criticize other people's supposedly wrong behavior. Both her brother and Chiara call her out on it.
  • Hypocrite: In season 1, she criticizes her brother Niccolò for being immature and selfish. She has point, but in season 2, she acts even worse than him.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: She isn't any better like brother, but she's not bad a person at all. But it grew her into a Jerk with a Heart of Jerk in season 2, and she's seems to be back to this again in season 3.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Jerk: At some point, in season 2, it appears that she wants to make peace with Chiara, but then she tricks her to get her in trouble. In season 3, her Heel–Face Turn seems more genuine, but she rarely appears.
  • Out of Focus: She gets much less focus after season 1. In season 3, she's so irrelevant that she doesn't even appear in the Grand Finale.
  • Took a Level in Jerkass: In season 1, Camilla has a negative attitude that irritates other people, but is not a bad person deep down, as she seems to consider Chiara a good friend, and she tries to understand Damiano initially. Sadly, she goes full Jerkass in season 2. She gets better in season 3, but it's hard to tell.
  • We Used to Be Friends: Chiara's best friend in sesason 1, but they drift apart after that.

    Fabio Fedeli
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/babyf.jpg
Played by: Brando Pacitto

The principal's son, and a friend of Chiara and Camilla.

  • Bully Magnet: After his coming out, Niccolò and his friends start picking on him. Thankfully Damiano and later Chiara come to his defense.
  • Butt-Monkey: Especially in the scenes where he gets bullied or humiliated by some jerks at school.
  • Closet Key: For Brando, who had never realized his sexuality, until he starts to have feelings for Fabio.
  • Gay Best Friend: Surprisingly, Fabio becomes this to Ludovica in season 2 and 3, especially after their parents start dating. He's probably Ludovica's only real friend aside from Chiara.
  • The Generic Guy: He doesn't have many characteristics other than being gay and the principal's son. Other than that, he's a quite average guy.
  • Nice Guy: Easily one of the nicest characters. He cares a lot about his friends.
  • Sensitive Guy and Manly Man: Sensitive Guy to Damiano's Manly Man. Damiano is the aloof bad boy of the school, Fabio is a short, dorky nice guy. They become friends.
  • Younger Than They Look: He's a teenager but looks much older than his classmates, due to his haircut. Even his actor is only slightly older than the rest of the cast (22 in season 1) and Camilla's actress is actually older than him.

     Niccolò Govender Rossi
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/56d27cc50b843db4089a772b06962fcb.jpg
Played by: Lorenzo Zurzolo

Camilla's brother. Despite having another girlfriend, he had a secret affair with Chiara at the beginning.

  • Big Jerk on Campus: He is very popular at school, and acts like as a complete Jerkass in early episodes.
  • The Bully: Towards Damiano in season 1 (in a Crazy Jealous Guy way), and towards Fabio in season 2 (in an homophobic way). Also, he and Brando harass street prostitutes for fun.
  • Chick Magnet: He attracts Chiara, Virginia, his Hot Teacher Monica, and probably more according to his conversations with his friends.
  • Character Development: By the end of season 2, he starts to redeem himself and shows genuine care towards Chiara. This is shown even more in season 3.
  • Crazy Jealous Guy: In the first season, he is possessive towards Chiara, outright insulting her when she dumps him, and antagonizing Damiano just because of Chiara's interest in him.
  • Everyone Has Standards: At the end of season 2, he is clearly angry when Brando blackmails Chiara.
  • Foolish Sibling, Responsible Sibling: Niccolò is an immature party boy (Foolish), while his sister Camilla is more of a goody-two-shoes (Responsible).
  • Jerkass: In season 1 and the first half of season 2. He cheats on his girlfriend and is an aggressive bully.
  • Jerkass Realization: In the infamous bathroom scene, he bullies Fabio along with his friends, and when Chiara defends Fabio, you can tell he feels genuinely guilty. From that point on, he Took a Level in Kindness.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Despite treating Chiara badly in the first season, he loves her deep down. By season 3, he is probably the person who supports her the most.
  • Karma Houdini: In season 1, he vandalizes the headmaster's office and lets Damiano take the blame. Nobody has ever discovered what he did, aside from his sister.
  • Lady Killer In Love: Initially, he is known as a ladies man who only cares about sex and cheats on Virginia with many girls. But it's implied that his feelings for Chiara are genuine, and he still loves her at the end of the show.
  • Politically Incorrect Villain: Along with Brando. They are sexist, racist, and homophobic, at least initially. After Brando's coming out, Niccolò ends up being a supporting friend at the end of season 3.
  • Teacher/Student Romance: He has a secret affair with his gym teacher Monica (who is also Damiano's stepmother) but Monica eventually breaks up with him.
  • Took a Level in Kindness: He becomes a much better person in later episodes.

     Brando De Sanctis
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/babybr.png
Played by: Mirko Trovato

Niccolò's best friend and the guy who released Ludovica's sex tape.

  • Armoured Closet Gay: As we learn in season 2, Brando is in the closet but he pretends to be homophobic like his friends to keep his reputation at school.
  • Ascended Extra: In season 1, Brando is a Satellite Character who only serves as Niccolò's equally jerkish friend and Ludovica's ex-boyfriend but we don't know almost anything about him. He has a larger role in season 2 and 3.
  • The Bully: Even more than his friend Niccolò. He enjoys bullying and humiliating people For the Evulz.
  • Camera Fiend: He usually uses his phone to film people or take pictures, whether they like it or not.
  • Character Development: While Niccolò gets his redemption arc in the second half of season 2, Brando gets it in season 3, after a Jerkass Realization.
  • Freudian Excuse: His father is a Jerkass who would never accept his son the way he is. No wonder Brando turns out to be a horrible person like him.
  • Heel–Face Turn: A villain in the first two seasons. In season 3, he becomes more honest with his feelings for Fabio, and eventually confesses his wrongdoings to help Chiara and Ludovica at the trial.
  • Jerkass: One of the most cruel and antagonistic charcaters in the first two seasons. He gets better in season 3.
  • Loving Bully: He bullies Fabio along with his friends, but it's later revealed that he's secretly attracted to him. Even after they start a secret relationship, he keeps bullying him when there are other people around, much to Fabio's dismay.
  • Politically Incorrect Villain: Along with Niccolò. They are sexist, racist, and homophobic, at least initially. After Brando's coming out, Niccolò ends up being a supporting friend.
  • Secret-Keeper: He finds out about Chiara's double life in season 2, but initially only uses it to blackmail her. Her secret is only made public by the end of season 3.
  • Stalker without a Crush:
    • Brando often stalks people to secretly film them or take pictures of them, only because he likes to have some material against the others, to humiliate, blackmail, or just mess with them.
    • At the end of season 2, he sexually assaults Chiara who is just The Beard to him, as he wants to film a video about them together and prove others that he's not gay.
  • The Unfavorite: His father seems to prefer Brando's sister Perla over him, due to Brando causing more trouble for the family and ruining his sister's opportunities.

    Virginia
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/babyv.jpg
Played by: Federica Lucaferri

Niccolò's girlfriend, and the school's Alpha Bitch.

  • Alpha Bitch: Blonde, pretty, popular, dating the Big Jerk on Campus, has a Girl Posse, and acts mean to both Chiara and Ludovica.
  • Break the Haughty: She breaks down crying three times, twice because of Niccolò's cheating and another time due her own scheme backfiring, to the point that other characters feel sorry for her.
  • Clingy Jealous Girl: She doesn't react well when there's another girl between her and Niccolò. Since Niccolò is a serial cheater, she has a point.
  • Fake Pregnancy: When Niccolò wants to break up with her, she lies to him about being pregnant.
  • Jerkass Has a Point: While she has no reason to bully Ludovica, her hostility towards Chiara is more understandable, since Chiara had an affair with Virginia's boyfriend.
  • Satellite Love Interest: Virginia is only defined by her relationship with Niccolò and her jealousy when Niccolò seems to like someone else. Other than that, she's just a generic mean girl.
  • Yandere: She's a bit obsessed with Niccolò. She knows he cheats on her but instead of ending the relationship, she's ready to humiliate her romantic rival Chiara. In one scene, she literally said that she will kill herself if Niccolò dumps her. She even uses the Fake Pregnancy manipulation when she's scared of losing him.

    Vittorio and Carlo
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/baby3.jpg
Played by: Sergio Ruggeri and Filippo Marsili

Two friends of Niccolò and Brando. They appear in season 2 and 3.

  • The Bully: Along with Niccolò and sometimes Brando, they like to bully Fabio, literally pushing him around.
  • Hate Sink: The only teenage characters who are this trope. Niccolò, Brando, and (to an extent) Camilla redeem themselves in season 3, and even Virginia is pitiable at times. Vittorio and Carlo have no positive traits.
  • Jerkass to One: They are jerks to everyone, but especially Fabio, due to their homophobia.
  • Politically Incorrect Villain: They are clearly homophobic, and also very sexist when talking about women.
  • Replacement Flat Character: In season 1, Niccolò and Brando were one-dimensional bullies. Since they both become more complex characters in season 2, Vittorio and Carlo are introduced to be "those two bullies" who are just there to be Hate Sinks.
  • Satellite Character: Aside from hanging out with Niccolò and Brando (and bullying Fabio), they have no role in the story.
  • Those Two Guys: They usually appear together, though Vittorio seems to be more of a leader of the two.

    Aurora
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/babyau.jpg
Played by: Anna Lou Castoldi

Intruduced in the last season, she's a girl who bonds with Damiano after his break-up with Chiara.

  • Betty and Veronica: She looks like the Veronica (an alternative girl and newcomer in Damiano's life) to Chiara's Betty (the Class Princess and Damiano's love interest since the first season). But she's actually the unproblematic Betty to Chiara's troubled Veronica.
  • Brutal Honesty: She always speaks her mind, even when she disagrees.
  • Manic Pixie Dream Girl: An alternative girl with a positive disposition who has an impact on the brooding Damiano.
  • The Pollyanna: In contrast to Damiano being more pessimistic due to his own issues, Aurora has a positive outlook.
  • Satellite Love Interest: Even more than Virginia. Besides Damiano, she has no connection with the other protagonists at all, and has only ever interacted with him. The only time she talks to other people, they were minor characters, it was a group scene, and Damiano was there too.

    Sofia Mancini
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/babyso.jpg
Played by: Alessia Scriboni

Another teen prostitute from another school. Chiara meets her at a party.

  • Broken Bird: In season 3, after getting caught and her secret life becomes public, she's forced to leave her school and is put in a group home.
  • Good Bad Girl: Like Chiara and Ludovica, she's not a mean girl, despite her double life as a prostitute. Even after she's put under pressure by the police, she doesn't snitch on Chiara, but only reveals Chiara's fake name "Emma".
  • Secret Sex Worker: She's a student with a secret life as a prostitute, at least before getting caught. However, unlike Chiara and Ludovica, she uses her real name Sofia with her clients, likely without revealing her surname.
  • Small Role, Big Impact:
    • She's only a secondary character but, thanks to her help, Chiara is able to get out of trouble with Brando at the end of season 2. And thanks to Sofia's video, Brando's father gets arrested in the following season.
    • She later becomes the instigator of the main storyline in season 3, since she gets caught and unwillingly starts all the police involvement in the case of another mysterious teen prostitute, "Emma".
  • Unwitting Instigator of Doom: Her getting questioned by the police in early season 3 leads to the start of the investigations about another teen prostitute at Collodi high school, which is the cause of all the legal troubles of Chiara and Ludovica.

Adults

    Fiore
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/babyf_2.jpg
Played by: Giuseppe Maggio

The pimp of Chiara and Ludovica.

  • Age-Gap Romance: He's 27 years old, and has a relationship with Ludovica, who is only 16/17 at the beginning, though she turns 18 in season 3.
  • Big Bad: Was The Dragon to Saverio in the first season, but becomes the main villain in season 2 and 3.
  • Consummate Liar: Part of his manipulative nature. At the trial, he even tries to twist the story and tell the judge that he has been manipulated by Ludovica and Damiano. Thankfully, Natalia knows the whole story and testifies against him.
  • The Dragon: In season 1, he helps his cousin Saverio, the boss who organizes the prostitution ring.
  • Even Evil Has Loved Ones: In a twisted way, he seems to really love Ludovica. In season 1, he offers to pay her school fees, and beats up Brando for humiliating her.
  • Fluffy the Terrible: "Fiore" (Italian for "flower") is the nickname of this dangerous and manipulative pimp.
  • Manipulative Bastard: Along with Saverio, he manipulates the girls into working as prostitutes. In season 2, he even pays a creepy guy to stalk and terrorize Ludovica, so she would feel unsafe and he could play the role of the "protector". In season 3, he manipulates Ludovica into thinking that nobody cares about her except him.
  • Mr. Fanservice: Fiore is a good-looking man, and occasionally appears shirtless in his scenes with Ludovica or his ex-girlfriend Natalia.
  • Only Known by Their Nickname: His real name is Claudio Fiorenzi.
  • Tall, Dark, and Handsome: He's a dark-haired guy who is much taller than Ludovica, and is a Mr. Fanservice.
  • Villainous Crush: On Ludovica, though she actually likes him back initially. While he has some twisted affection for her, Ludovica dumps him after realizing that he's a toxic and emotionally abusive man who cares more about his business. Even more so in season 3, when he manipulates her into running away with him.

    Saverio
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/babys.jpg
Played by: Paolo Calabresi

A pimp, nightclub owner, and Fiore's boss.

  • Asshole Victim: His death at the end of season 1 was an accident, but it's hard to find anyone who could be sad about it or miss Saverio, aside from maybe his cousin Fiore.
  • Big Bad: The main villain in season 1, who organizes the prostitution ring involving Chiara and Ludovica.
  • The Corrupter: The one who introduces Chiara and Ludovica to prostitution at the start of the show.
  • Dirty Old Man: He's in his late fifties, and creepily attracted to young girls, especially poor Ludovica.
  • Faux Affably Evil: He presents himself as a friendly bartender who is just offering the girls an "opportunity". He's actually a creepy and manipulative Dirty Old Man.
  • Hate Sink: While Fiore has some Anti-Villain qualities in the early episodes, there's nothing remotely good about Saverio. He's explicitly written to he a creepy and hateable villain, and nobody misses him after he dies.
  • Jerkass: A sleazy guy who has no problem sexually assaulting a young girl when she is too drunk to react.
  • Karmic Death: He dies in a car crash at the end of season 1. The car crash was caused by the driver Damiano, in order to stop Saverio from sexually assaulting and almost raping a drunk Ludovica.

    Elsa Altieri Della Rocca
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/babyel_0.jpg
Played by: Galatea Ranzi

Chiara's mother.

  • Ambition Is Evil: In season 3, she is a candidate who wants to win an important election. To succeed, she's ready to screw over Ludovica's life.
  • Adaptational Villainy: Compared to her real life counterpart. Near the end of the show, there's an investigation in high school to find out who is the girl involved in prostitution. When she finds out about the secret of Chiara and her friend Ludovica, Elsa tells the school everything only about Ludovica, in order to save her family's reputation. In real life, Angela's mother (Elsa is based on her) called the police to figure out how her daughter suddenly came into a lot of wealth.
  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: She usually acts like a respectable person in public, but is actually selfish and ruthless. She even pretends to be nice to Ludovica's mother, but the latter shouldn't have trusted Elsa.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: Her electoral campaign eventually fails after her daughter's revelation about her double life. That's karma for what Elsa tried to do to Ludovica.
  • Rich Bitch: A rich lady who is a Jerk with a Heart of Gold in early episodes, but turns into a businesswoman who only cares about power and reputation in season 3.
  • Same Character, But Different: In season 3, she's basically a different character, with just the same name and played by the same actress. She goes from blonde to brunette, has political ambitions that she never showed in early seasons, and suddenly becomes a villain whose behavior is disapproved even by her husband. Even the family's house is completely different, with no explanation for this.
  • Took a Level in Jerkass: In the first two seasons, she's a sympathetic mother struggling with Awful Wedded Life. In season 3, she becomes ruthless and is completely willing to ruin Ludovica's life with no remorse.

    Arturo Altieri
Played by: Massimo Poggio

Chiara's father.

  • Alliterative Name: Arturo Altieri.
  • Awful Wedded Life: With Elsa in season 1. They are constantly arguing, they don't sleep together, and he also cheats on his wife. While they come very close to divorce, they eventually make peace in season 2.
  • Everyone Has Standards: He supports his wife's electoral campaign in season 3. But when he finds out that his wife sold out Ludovica to save her family's reputation, he's completely against it.
  • Parents as People: All his arguments with his wife make the life difficult for his daughter. However, he still loves Chiara and actually cares about her opinions. By season 3, it becomes clear that he's a better parent than his wife.

    Simonetta Loreti
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/babys_4.jpg
Played by: Isabella Ferrari

Ludovica's single mother.

  • Adaptational Heroism: Compared to her real life counterpart. In this show, Simonetta is initially oblivious to her daughter's double life as a prostitute, and when she finds out, she's shocked and conflicted; while she's too weak to do anything and doesn't try to stop Ludovica, she eventually confesses the truth. And despite being irresponsible, she genuinely loves her daughter and wants the best for her. In real life, Agnese's single mother (Simonetta is based on her) pressured her to continue even when Agnese wanted to quit, because she needed more money after being left by her husband.
  • Aw, Look! They Really Do Love Each Other: Her relation with Ludovica is strained in season 1, and Ludovica has little patience for her mother's negligence. As the series goes on, it's shown that Simonetta really cares for Ludovica, and they become very close in the last season.
  • Parental Neglect: In season 1, she is seen wasting the money Ludonica needs for school, and pays more attention to her new boyfriend. She gets better.
  • Parents as People: Despite being an irresponsible mother, she eventually tries to improve, although she still makes bad choices. However, in the last season, she supports Ludovica and encourages her to get her act together.
  • Secret-Keeper: She finds out about her teenage daughter secretly working as a prostitute at the end of season 2, but doesn't do anything about it until the last few episodes. After admitting that she used Ludovica's money, she ends up in jail at the end.
  • Struggling Single Mother: She's a single mother who struggles with money and has trouble raising her daughter. The money problems are also Simonetta's fault, since she constantly wastes money and is manipulated by her mooching boyfriend.
  • Womanchild: Even Ludovica, who is a problematic teenager, acts more mature than her mother.

Played by: Tommaso Ragno

The principal of Collodi high school and Fabio's father.

  • Dean Bitterman: Downplayed. He seems a strict authority figure to the students initially, but at the end his decisions turn out to be reasonable.
  • Open-Minded Parent: He's perfectly fine after his son Fabio comes out as gay.
  • Opposites Attract: Despite being a very serious and hard-working person, he has a relationship with flaky Womanchild Simonetta.
  • Parental Substitute: After he starts dating Ludovica's mother in season 2, he becomes a good parental figure to Ludovica.
  • Reasonable Authority Figure: One of the most reasonable and least problematic adult figures on the show. While he seems uptight, he's actually good father and a good principal who tries to be understanding.

Played by: Claudia Pandolfi

The gym teacher who is married to Damiano's father.

  • Heel Realization: She eventually realizes her relationship with Niccolò (one of her students and also a minor) is completely inappropriate. After confessing to the principal, she leaves the school in season 3.
  • Hot Teacher: All the male students find her hot, especially Niccolò.
  • Karma Houdini: While she eventually ends the affair, confesses to the principal, and leaves the school, she gets no legal consequences for having a sexual relationship with a minor, who is also her student. This is because in Italy the age of consent in this situation is 16 (14 in general, but 16 when one participant is in a position of authority like Monica), and Niccolò is 17.
  • Parental Substitute: To her stepson Damiano. After Damiano's father breaks up with her, Damiano ends up moving in with Monica at the end of the show.
  • Teacher/Student Romance: With Niccolò. Monica breaks up with him in early season 2, after seeing Niccolò's girlfriend Virginia crying over her boyfriend's cheating.

    Roberto De Sanctis
Played by: Max Tortora

Brando's father.

  • Abusive Parents: He's cold and verbally abusive to Brando. In the last season season, he has also a violent reaction to his son, which leads his wife to kick him out of the house.
  • Dirty Old Man: A married man in his late fifties, and has no problem sleeping with Sofia, a teenage prostitute.
  • Hate Sink: Probably the worst parent on the show. He's abusive, hypocritical, homophobic, perverted, and cheats on his wife with minor girls.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: He's eventually arrested for sleeping with a teenage prostitute, after his son secretly sends the video to the police.
  • Parental Favoritism: Out of his children, he favors Perla over Brando.
  • Politically Incorrect Villain: He's homophobic, which is one of the main reasons why his gay son Brando tries to hide his sexuality.

A prostitute who personally knows Fiore.

  • Hooker with a Heart of Gold: She doesn't like that Fiore is taking advantage of teenagers. She eventually decides to help the girls and testify against Fiore at the trial.
  • Ms. Fanservice: Natalia is beautiful, and several of her scenes are seductive and played for fanservice.
  • Secret-Keeper: She knows both the manipulative pimp Fiore and all his involvement in the secret life of Chiara, Ludovica, and Damiano. She keeps the secret until the last episode.
  • Ship Tease: She has a fling with both Damiano and Fiore in season 2.
  • Small Role, Big Impact: Not a major character but she knows everything. Her testimony in court in the last episode helps the protagonists to get justice against Big Bad Fiore.
