During the investigation of recent hollers in the Complete Monster thread, it's become apparent to the staff that an insular, unfriendly culture has evolved in the Complete Monster and Magnificent Bastard threads that is causing problems.
Specific issues include:
- Overzealous hollers on tropers who come into the threads without being familiar with all the rules and traditions of the tropes. And when they are familiar with said rules and traditions, they get accused (with little evidence) of being ban evaders.
- A few tropers in the thread habitually engage in snotty, impolite mini-modding. There are also regular complaints about excessive, offtopic "socializing" posts.
- Many many thread regulars barely post/edit anywhere else, making the threads look like they are divorced from the rest of TV Tropes.
- Following that, there are often complaints about the threads and their regulars violating wiki rules, such as on indexing, crosswicking, example context and example categorization. Some folks are working on resolving the issues, but...
- Often moderator action against thread regulars leads to a lot of participants suddenly showing up in the moderation threads to protest and speak on their behalf, like a clique.
It is not a super high level problem, but it has been going on for years and we cannot ignore it any longer. There will be a thread in Wiki Talk to discuss the problem; in the meantime there is a moratorium on further Complete Monster and Magnificent Bastard example discussion until we have gotten this sorted out.
Update: The new threads have been made and can be found here:
Please see the Frequently Asked Questions and Common Requests List before suggesting any new entries for this trope.
IMPORTANT: To avoid a holler to the mods, please see here for the earliest date a work can be discussed, (usually two weeks from the US release), as well as who's reserved discussion.
When voting, you must specify the candidate(s). No blanket votes (i.e. " to everyone I missed").
No plagiarism: It's fair to source things, but an effortpost must be your own work and not lifted wholesale from another source.
We don't care what other sites think about a character being a Complete Monster. We judge this trope by our own criteria. Repeatedly attempting to bring up other sites will earn a suspension.
What is the Work
Here you briefly describe the work in question and explain any important setting details. Don't assume that everyone is familiar with the work in question.
Who is the Candidate and What have they Done?
This will be the main portion of the Effort Post. Here you list all of the crimes committed by the candidate. For candidates with longer rap sheets, keep the list to their most important and heinous crimes, we don't need to hear about every time they decide to do something minor or petty.
Do they have any Mitigating Factors or Freudian Excuse?
Here you discuss any potential redeeming or sympathetic features the character has, the character's Freudian Excuse if they have one, as well as any other potential mitigating factors like Offscreen Villainy or questions of moral agency. Try to present these as objectively as possible by presenting any evidence that may support or refute the mitigating factors.
Do they meet the Heinousness Standard?
Here you compare the actions of the Candidate to other character actions in the story in order to determine if they stand out or not. Remember that all characters, not just other villains, contribute to the Heinousness Standard
Final Verdict?
Simply state whether or not you think the character counts or not.

Found and removed an unapproved wick over on Unpopular Popular Character, this time referring to Cyclops after the events of Avengers vs. X-Men.
I'm pretty sure he doesn't count and that's a misuse of the trope, so I edited the entry.
Also, I decided to drop Earth X from my to-do list, mostly because the nature of the story really didn't allow for a Complete Monster to be possible. Villains either had redeeming factors or lacked moral agency (e.g. Mephisto's not a demon, but a mutant who became a demon because the collective fear of mankind willed him into becoming a demon). Anyone interested can pick it up to see if I missed something, but I kind of lost interest.
Eric, and I will wait and see on the traffickers.
Feels good, don't it?Eric, and I agree with Austin regarding the RWBY candidates. If something comes along to out-heinous them, we'll simply cut them. As for the Branwen Tribe, Vernal explains to Weiss that them kidnapping/trafficking/ransoming is very rare, even for them: "We don't normally deal in trafficking people - not really worth our time. But, once we realized we had a Schnee, that changed."
Read "Ghost Stories of Remnant" here.Eric seems like he still keeps. Another one of those complex ones who throw away any redeeming quality.
EDIT: Oh, something funny? I'm looking for Eric's EP, and found this gem, where I cut off new writeups because it was a lot...it was only around 20 or so
I know

CM Dates; CM Pending; CM DraftsGeeze If we got twenty for a week now then something would have gone terribly wrong with that weeks batch.
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."Also, screw it, let me do this now. From Draugûl: "Kazikly Voyvoda" ("Impaler Lord"):
A fearless man with no remorse
Risen to power by the boyars
As warlord to the Wallachian Hordes
Bore the Name of Dracul
As the Devil’s son he was known
With an iron resolution
Against the Infidels stood alone
With the banner of the Dragon
Faced the Sultans of the East
No mercy ever flourished
From this foul and sinful beast
On the hilltops by the castle
His captives bound to die
Sharpened poles thrust in their innards
Facing upwards to the sky
Nails in heads were driven, Impalement on the stake
Regardless of religion, all shared the same fate
Dracul’s hand of Justice, swept throughout his lands
Terror from the Tyrant, none escaped the Voivode’s hands
A feast of putrid corpses lay rotten in the sun
From nobles down to peasants, all punished for what they’ve done
Vlad arranged a banquet before the impaled and befouled
And dined before the dying, as in pain they screamed and howled
At the banks of the Arges River, the waters stained in red
Upon reaching Dracul’s realm, his foes in dread they fled
For the sight they saw was sickening - Bodies hung on the city walls
Headless and dismembered, as trophies of his wars
A Last campaign was crafted
To bring down the Dragon’s reign
To cross the vast Carpathians
And the Impaler’s land reclaim
So, upon the field of battle
As he looked down in a pool of blood
His heart was pierced in vengeance
Thus came to end Prince Vlad…
Yet this deed remains uncertain
Some say he conquered Death…
And a pact was made with Satan
And thus prolonged his final breath
A gathering was thus dispatched
To exhume the Impaler’s vault
Alas the tomb was empty
And the reign of terror spread once more
All feared Draculya’s vengeance
From beyond the mortal gates
As peasants were corrupted
To a realm beyond the grave
Unnumbered deaths wrapped in mystery
In this plague-infested land
From monastrieries in the mountains
To the Turkish kingdom of the sands
Thus lives on the Voivode’s legend
Of the immortal Kazikly Bey
That the Dark Prince of Wallachia
Haunts his fortress to this day…
Yeah, Vlad/Dracula. Heinous enough easily, no disqualifiers...the ONLY issue is if he's too much of a GDV here, but I'd say otherwise he's a keep. I leave it up to you all.

CM Dates; CM Pending; CM DraftsHe seems sadistic enough. Dracula.
Feels good, don't it?Yes to Eric and I agree with Austin regarding the RWBY duo.
Edit: Also forgot to say yes to Dracula.

Fan-Preferred Couple cleanup threadYes to Eric. Having read the comic along with a Joe Hill collection, I never expected him to become a complex CM. I also read a prequel focusing on his father and explaining where the flight power comes from, but nothing and no one to add as far as CM's go.
Dracula.

Thanks to ACW's link, I finally read Yhwach's EP. That was fun to read.
Alright, enough off topic stuff from me for now.
Dracula and Eric. Good on Joe Hill for taking one of his evil villains and making him complex, but still hateable. Unlike certain comicbook writers *glares at a picture of Brian Michael Bendis*

"No running in the halls!"Dracula
Hey acw. Now we both have a version of the count who well counts.
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."to Dracula, and Eric still seems like he qualifies.

I have no idea what I am doingSo uh acw aren't you supposed to submit the rwby duo. Pretty much everyone doesn't seem to have a problem with them going up.
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."
