There's a project to consolidate character-specific pages into the larger character pages. They were probably merged through that project.

I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.

On AlternativeCharacterInterpretation. The Loud House, there's one that says that Lisa is a "fecaephiliac" for studying poop. Umm... she's 4-5! She's too young to get off on anything!

[up] I looked it up and it doesn't seem to be specifically sexual, but it is surely gross.

Geez, Lisa clearly doesn't have a sexual interest in that. She just studies it for science.

I don't know why this hasn't been brought to anyone's attention yet, but the Character Sheets for this show, especially the Loud siblings, are full of shoe-horned examples with non-characterization tropes that were only played for a quick joke or episode gag, implications, or just Zero-Context examples that don't provide in-depth specific examples. Lori and Luan's folders are especially the worst offenders. It would take too long to clean all that up in one edit.

Could you bring some of those shoehorned examples in here? Off the top of my head I only remember the Older Than They Look / Younger Than They Look shoehorns for any character with freckles or boobs respectively.

Not going to list them all, but:

Lincoln

  • Ain't Too Proud to Beg: Near the end of "One of the Boys", he fearfully begs Lori not to flush his head down the toilet after he breaks her watch.
  • Always Someone Better: In "A Fridge Too Far", Lincoln manages to outwit Luan when it comes to pranking, as he sets a booby trap in the refrigerator that culminates in a watermelon falling on Luan's foot, marking this as a rare instance where Luan of all people falls victim to a prank.
  • Gasshole: He can let out a good fart, such as in "A Tale of Two Tables," "Space Invader," and "Roughin' It." <— Really? It's not a defining trait of his character, so this is just weird to have on the folder...
  • Not Me This Time: Lincoln's claim that starts the plot of "Sleuth or Consequences" is that, despite often doing it in the past, this particular instance of the toilet being plugged isn't his fault.

Luan

  • No Sense of Personal Space: Luan is shown to have shades of this, as she occasionally gets too close to others when trying to entertain them. In "Garage Banned", she invades Lori's personal space during her phone call with Bobby and makes her puppet Mr. Coconuts kiss her, roleplaying as her boyfriend. <— I've seen enough episodes to know that it was only this instance and is not a recurring theme with her.

Lynn

  • Smelly Feet Gag: Lynn is sometimes joked about having foot odor, like in "Feast or Family" when her feet are emphasized with stench lines to show how long she's been playing outside. <— From what I recall this gag was only used in a couple episodes and is not a recurring element...

Found this under the show's main YMMV page:

  • Designated Hero:
    • Lincoln. Sometimes he can act really stupid, really selfish, or even both, making it very hard to root for him whenever he gets the spotlight (which is very common considering he's the main character).
    • Lincoln's sisters. Depending on the episode, they can either be simply innocent girls being abused by Lincoln to get what he wants, be only better than Lincoln due to having more morals, be just as bad as him, or be outright unlikable and worse than him. More than once, they can even be viewed as complete bullying idiots who only care about themselves and seem to have been written just for the audience to despise.

Found this on YMMV:

  • Informed Wrongness: The episode "Snow Bored" treats Lisa as wrong for not letting her siblings have a snow day and for pointing out that not attending school decreases brain function. However, the episode glosses over the fact that any unscheduled snow days are taken out of summer vacation and that the other kids could have played in the snow after school or during the weekend.

...And I'm not sure I agree with it. It's written from a very adult perspective, and it feels weird to expect a kid's show to take the side of someone who's against Snow Days. I'm sure none of the kids watching actually felt like Lisa was correct.

It’s also not universal—my school gave us a few days off to fill in missing snow days, for instance.

One year there was an entire month where we only had 4 days of school a week because every Monday was a snowstorm. And it did come back to bite us in the ass later. But, like, every kid was still hoping for a snow day every time regardless.

Maybe it's closer to Strawman Has a Point? An adult audience is still an audience nevertheless.

Strawman Has a Point might fit if anyone besides the person who posted this legitimately agrees with her. I didn't mean to say that this opinion comes from the Periphery Demographic, but that it's a POV the work wasn't made in mind with (using logic that wouldn't be apparent to the characters or the target demographic), and one that seems to be making stretches in order to explain why Lisa should be thought of as "correct". Is there a big enough voice in the audience that thought the other kids were wrong?

The work not being made with an adult POV in mind wouldn't negate the Informed Wrongness, IMO, but if it's truly not a common take / is a leap of logic then that might be worth cutting. But even as an adult I'm all for snow days, from at least a health and safety perspective. Losing one day of a later vacation just means there's zero net loss, it's not a major deal.

That's what I'm really getting at. It's written from an overly adult perspective which not even most adults share (I was thrilled whenever my college had a snow day, and whenever I got called out of work for snow as well). Most arguments about snow days are things like "shoveling sucks" and "roads are dangerous" (which is why I actually agree with the adults in Frosty Returns), but this is about something most people don't even really worry about.

I might check out the episode later just to see if it changes my perspective at all.

Ha, I was thinking about Frosty Returns too! [lol] But yeah, it's a very niche kind of argument, so the Informed Wrongness doesn't work because it seems a lot of people have good reason to disagree with her. Strawman Has a Point might be fairer but only if she brings that specific argument up.

Yeah kids still hope for snow days even if they get taken away from summer. I remember when Hurricane Sandy happened (I live in downstate NY) and we had 12 weeks of no school which got taken away from other days off. I still was OK with it (although granted we somehow didn’t lose power), and as was said, the entry is written from an adult perspective (on a kids show) so the entry can probably go.

This is the most recent edit to Recap. The Loud House S 2 E 8 No Such Luck Frog Wild (under the No Such Luck section), and I'm not sure it belongs there:

  • St. Patrick's Day Episode: The episode involves Lincoln finding himself with unexpected free time after his family worries that he is bad luck, but soon it goes too far, and he is banned from all the family's activities. Although St. Patrick's Day itself is neither mentioned nor referenced, this episode aired just four days before the holiday in 2017. Additionally, the title card is all-green and features Lincoln wearing a green top hat adorned with a three-leaf clover.

Yeah, that feels a bit shoehorned. Lincoln's appearance especially seems to be more of a reference to "the luck of the Irish" in general, especially for an episode themed around luck. Saint Patrick's day has nothing specifically to do with good luck, other than, again, Ireland in general being considered shamrock and leprechaun land.

Maybe a little less egregious than usual for this thread. On Recap. The Loud House S 2 E 4 Suite And Sour Back In Black there is this entry.

  • Fainting: Rusty faints a couple of times in response to Lucy's fake blood.

Does anyone know the episode? Is the fake blood big and scary/shocking so that we've got a Faint in Shock situation, or is Rusty just Afraid of Blood?

[up]Thank you.

Came across another entry on the same recap:

  • Chew-Out Fake-Out: Lucy’s sisters get upset because she didn’t tell them for help.

The example text seems to contradict the trope definition. Given the verb misuse, ("Tell" instead of "Ask") I'm not confident in unraveling what actually happened.

You could correct "tell" to "ask" and add an ellipsis after "upset".

YMMV.A Loud House Christmas has an entry that I think may be complaining:

  • Fanon Discontinuity: The fact that this is a live-action movie already turned off a large portion of the The Loud House fandom from the start, with some believing that Nickelodeon didn't learn their lesson from the live-action The Fairly OddParents! movie trilogy, but it has mainly received this treatment due to the way it portrays how Lincoln is more than willing to sabotage his Family's plans on Christmas so they can keep the traditions he likes. The methods he uses to sabotage his family include...
    • Setting up mean pranks at Sunset Canyon to get them to cancel Luan's comedy gig;
    • Tricking Luna into thinking she won a recording session with Mick Swagger to draw her away from a skiing trip with Sam, which in turn causes Sam to break up with her (though they do get back together at the end and still go skiing);
    • And stealing Tanya to film the Sharkodile attack video, which gets Leni fired.
    • Then Scoots spots the Sharkodile and reports it to the news, causing the town to go on curfew and cancelling the Christmas tree lighting at the mall, which was the event Lincoln wanted his family to be at in the first place...
    • ...Followed up by him causing massive property damage when bringing the Sharkodile to the mall to explain it is fake.
    • And to top it off, despite having 300 hours of community service, Lincoln is instantly forgiven and gets to have Christmas with his family.

For every low there is a high.
