YMMV / A Loud House Christmas

Go To

  • Fanfic Fuel: Luna and Sam's breakup and getting back together is not shown onscreen, so there have been some fanfics already depicting what could have happened offscreen. Some also write about their skiing trip as well.
  • Fanon Discontinuity: The fact that this is a live-action movie already turned off a large portion of the The Loud House fandom from the start, with some believing that Nickelodeon didn't learn their lesson from the live-action The Fairly OddParents! movie trilogy, but it has mainly received this treatment due to the way it portrays how Lincoln is more than willing to sabotage his Family's plans on Christmas so they can keep the traditions he likes. The methods he uses to sabotage his family include...
    • Setting up mean pranks at Sunset Canyon to get them to cancel Luan's comedy gig;
    • Tricking Luna into thinking she won a recording session with Mick Swagger to draw her away from a skiing trip with Sam, which in turn causes Sam to break up with her (though they do get back together at the end and still go skiing);
    • And stealing Tanya to film the Sharkodile attack video, which gets Leni fired.
    • Then Scoots spots the Sharkodile and reports it to the news, causing the town to go on curfew and cancelling the Christmas tree lighting at the mall, which was the event Lincoln wanted his family to be at in the first place...
    • ...Followed up by him causing massive property damage when bringing the Sharkodile to the mall to explain it is fake.
    • And to top it off, despite having 300 hours of community service, Lincoln is instantly forgiven and gets to have Christmas with his family.
  • Fridge Brilliance: Just after the scene with the Loud family being sad, it's subsequently revealed that the only one who isn't sad is Lisa. This makes sense, because, in addition to being excited wanting to keep the sharkodile as a specimen, she never stated a thing she wanted to do in Miami, while the other sisters did (Leni wanted to wear her bikini, Lynn wanted to attend a Miami Dolphins game, Lucy wanted to witness a shark attack, Lana wanted to bring Hops to Miami, and Lola wanted to attend a pageant). And while the parents didn't have any specific plans, going there in the first place was Rita's idea, and when Lynn Sr. was loopy he said he always wanted to go to Miami. Thus, this leaves Lisa the only one without a particular desire to travel to Miami.
  • Heartwarming Moments: The ending. Lincoln gets reassured that, while everyone grows up and the family might not be able to spend every Christmas together, they'll never drift apart. Then, he gets made to repair the property damage, but the family still gets to go sledding, Luna and Sam are together again, Luan is no longer angry with Pop-Pop, and the family has a snowball fight outside.
  • Special Effect Failure:
    • Lincoln's face on the original poster has a ghost copy lower down on his face. This has since been rectified after much mockery.
    • The green screen and CGI effects are highly conspicuous, like when Rita is on the roof, as well as during the final scene where the family goes sledding on Lincoln's sled.
    • Lucy's bangs that keep her Eyes Out of Sight don't look very convincing. While it's obviously a wig the actress is wearing, it's a bit hard to think of it as her real hair for the character she's playing, feeling more like a cosplay prop.
  • Tear Jerker: The one scene where all the Louds (plus Hops) except Lisa are sad — Lori because she's stranded on the highway with Bobby; Leni because she got fired, Luna because Sam dumped her; Luan because Pop Pop fired her and now they're not speaking; Lincoln because he started it; and everyone else because they're not going to Miami.
  • Unintentionally Unsympathetic: While Leni and Luan got screwed over by situations beyond their control, and Lori just got sentimental, Luna still had a choice in the matter when she was duped into thinking that Mick Swagger was coming to town (i.e. she still could’ve chosen Sam over Mick). She comes off as completely oblivious, almost insensitively so, when she calls off the trip with Sam, who is clearly hurt by her decision. And she’s met Mick Swagger before. As such, it’s not hard to side with Sam when she’s angry with Luna and breaks up with her (though they get back together at the end).
