YMMV / The Loud House Movie

Go To

  • Cliché Storm: Since the movie's about Lincoln learning to find his self-worth, this was inevitable, right down to Lincoln receiving a You Are Better Than You Think You Are speech from his family at the end.
  • Fanfic Fuel:
    • What would a visit to Royal Woods by Angus and the Louds' 1600s ancestors look like?
    • Also, how would things have turned out had Aggie never driven the Louds away from Scotland?
    • Heck, just the Louds discovering more of their heritage or staying in Scotland is ripe story material.
  • Fridge Brilliance: The reveal that Lynn Sr.'s ancestor also married a blonde. Blonde hair requires two recessive genes, so this ancestor must be where he got the recessive gene from.
  • Fridge Horror: The possibly high amount of influence Aggie, Morag, and their family had over Loch Loud in the preceding 400 years. The state the town was in before Lincoln took the throne, and Morag's view of the townspeople, leaves a rather malicious idea: could they have kept the town in that state for 400 years ON PURPOSE?
  • Genius Bonus:
    • Morag's name is just a random name with no true meaning, right? Well, not entirely: it's also the name of a loch monster that is also located in Scotland.
    • Morag crowning herself Duchess by claiming that the Louds appointed her and Lincoln subsequently crowing Angus as the Duke is actually Truth in Television. People appointed to rule in the rightful monarch's place by said monarch despite not being related are regents, or Regent Dukes.
  • I Knew It!: A lot of people assumed Morag would be the villain of the movie due to her sour look in early promos, along with one of the clips featuring her disparaging the Louds. The trailer all but confirmed this.
  • It's the Same, Now It Sucks!: One common criticism from negative reviews of the movie was that it was basically an extended rehash of the episode "Making the Case", which had a similar plot about Lincoln feeling overshadowed by his sisters due to having no memorable achievements to make him stand out.
  • Moe: The younger versions of the Loud kids will literally make your heart melt; they're so cute!
  • Moral Event Horizon: Morag crosses it when she almost killed the Louds, Lily included during the climax, all for wanting peace and quiet from them.
  • Signature Scene: One moment fans will definitely remember is the opening sequence that showcases how Lynn Sr. and Rita met and slowly built the chaotic but loving family we know and love today, all set to "Life is Better Loud".
  • So Okay, It's Average: What many people see about this movie. Not many would call it bad, but the execution of its simple premise of "Lincoln and his family goes to Scotland to discover their heritage" is considered to be lacking, despite trying to stretch out said execution for a movie format.
  • Special Effects Failure: The film uses CGI on some scenes, and it clashes really badly with the 2D backgrounds, considering by the fact that these characters were never meant to be in a 3D space in the first place, not to mention the fact that the animation tries to switch to being the same as the show and trying to be cinematic, which looks pretty bad, as it removes the fluidity of the show's usual style. The characters also break model frequently, in part due to the regular animators not being involved with the film.
  • Squick: Lincoln eating a burrito that was in Lily's diaper.
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Character: Scott is set up as a romantic possibility for Leni, but he does nothing of importance beyond sharing a few scenes with her that ultimately don't drive the plot forward.
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot:
    • Despite the Louds' ancestors appearing as ghosts, the only interactions with the Louds we are shown are Lucy's, and the rest are just in a bonding montage. Especially for Lincoln and his ancestor, whom they don't even exchange a word on screen. It would be interesting to hear the ancestor giving Lincoln a You Are Better Than You Think You Are speech.
    • It would've definitely been interesting to see Morag attempting (or even temporarily succeeding) to drive a wedge between Lincoln and his sisters, making him turn against them. Her "helping" the sisters be recognized in Loch Loud, as well as becoming Lincoln's False Friend, even seemed to be building up to that.
    • Despite being the entire reason the story happens, the Louds ditch the whole "learn about our family roots" once they reach Scotland and find out they're nobility.
    • Leni's romance with a Scottish boy seems to set up a romantic subplot for her, possibly with a dash of more culture clash humor, but it never goes anywhere besides a couple scenes where they're cute together.
