This is a thread to discuss those Administrivia pages in need of a little updating- you know the ones. The ones that still cite rules we've long since changed, or the ones that don't properly cite our current standards. Some of them are even scattered in Main/!
So, this is the place to take those pages and fix them up with the help of the community.
For a list of current projects, see Outdated Administrivia Pages.
Note: This thread is not for asking mods to make one-off edits to Locked Pages, Administrivia-related or otherwise, such as requesting additions to an Example Sectionectomy index. Please use this thread for that.

I'm going to add Wiki Tropes to Tropes Needing TRS if it hasn't been already, because a lot of those "tropes" read more like misplaced Administrivia entries. As I've previously said in this thread and on TRS, calling it Wiki Tropes instead of TV Tropes Tropes implies that it covers how those tropes are used on multiple wikis, but those pages often only cover TV Tropes.
Edit: I added Wiki Tropes to Tropes Needing TRS in the same category as No Straight Examples, Please!, though the former page's entry might need further tweaking.

Patiently awaiting the release of Paper Luigi and the Marvelous Compass.Yeah, many of them are misplaced Administrivia/, but this is one case when it wouldn't even work there. I think I can cutlist it now, as it is uncontroversial. (WJ, if you want some good horror, an almost 1:1 version of it is archived here).

Currently mostly inactive. An incremental game I tested: https://galaxy.click/play/176 (Gods of Incremental)Another way would be to help get this thread done since the follow-up is a thread on Wiki Tropes.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanI actually forgot that thread was still open before I posted my previous post.
Patiently awaiting the release of Paper Luigi and the Marvelous Compass. So, uh...not to be pushy, but I'd still really like a reply about the pages I've been waiting for several months now to finally update. To recap, they're:
- How To Create And Launch TLP Drafts, which thus far is the only one the mods have given feedback on, and it's just the same question every time, so to cut that part of the loop from recurring, here's the link to where I last answered the "what's the difference between it and TLP Guidelines" question.
- How to Do a Wick Check, which I'd like to update with my discussed changes mentioned here.
- Swap Up For Grabs Rewrite into Up for Grabs.
If I sound a bit tired or frustrated at this point, it's only because I am; I've been trying to do this for months and have barely gotten any feedback on it. Any time I attempt to finally get these things done, which would only take five minutes to actually do, I get buried under a sea of other issues or the mods join the conversation and then never come back after I respond to them. I don't feel comfortable updating or creating Administrivia/ pages without making sure it's okay, so that's why I'm still waiting.

Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessI thought they were ready, but maybe I'm dumb. I know that I edited Sandbox. How To Create And Launch TLP Drafts something that I thought was necessary three weeks ago. Otherwise, I don't really have anything against these changes or feel the need to point out something that'd need to be changed.
Currently mostly inactive. An incremental game I tested: https://galaxy.click/play/176 (Gods of Incremental)Cross-posting from the TRS meta thread, but in this post, crazysamaritan mentioned skipping ZCEs in cases where a minority of the wicks in a wick check are ZCEs. I think it would be worth modifying How to Do a Wick Check to suggest that other people do the same, since one troper has made at least three threads for Overtook the Series that all mention ZCEs when claiming the trope should be renamed (though none of those threads actually featured wick checks).
To add a suggestion of my own, I think it might be worth covering cases where ZCEs form the majority of wicks checked, such as how Ear Worm was made IUEO because most out-of-universe wicks were ZCEs while in-universe examples are simply a matter of saying something like "In scene X, character Y mentions having song Z stuck in their head".

Patiently awaiting the release of Paper Luigi and the Marvelous Compass.Like I said on that thread, I'm actually not a big fan of that idea. Mostly because I think it'd technically skew the results to much. Focusing on everything but the ZCE sounds good on paper, but if you think about the end results, it'd imply that the usages are more common than they actually are. Like it or not, ZCEs are a legit result and type of usage, and ignoring them makes the rest of the issues seem like they're more widespread than they actually are...at least, when you calculate the percentages anyway.
This might be worth a bigger discussion.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessI brought it up here because I thought it merited more discussion. The changes you proposed before I brought that up can probably be implemented now, but I agree that it's too soon to decide whether to add anything related to treating ZCEs differently from other examples.

Patiently awaiting the release of Paper Luigi and the Marvelous Compass.Outside this thread, I mean. This is more for clarifying rules that already exist, not necessarily for questioning current policies. A new thread would be ideal.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessSorry; I misunderstood.
Edit: I got double ninja'd in that thread, but this follow-up post makes it clear that I misunderstood the post I originally linked to.

Patiently awaiting the release of Paper Luigi and the Marvelous Compass. It's cool.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessAfter seeing in this ATT thread that American and Commonwealth Spellings also applies to punctuation rules, wouldn't it be better to rename and expand the page to indicate that it's about more than just spelling, such as moving it to American And Commonwealth English? I've seen a lot of cases of people unilaterally changing Commonwealth-style punctuation to American-style punctuation (mainly moving commas and periods inside quotation marks from outside them, with the former being the American style and the latter being the Commonwealth style), but wasn't sure if a page with "spelling" in the name is the right page to refer to.

Patiently awaiting the release of Paper Luigi and the Marvelous Compass.I'd be fine with that.
Currently mostly inactive. An incremental game I tested: https://galaxy.click/play/176 (Gods of Incremental)Fine by me.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessI'd suggest National Varieties Of English instead.
I had a dog-themed avatar before it was cool.Even better, since calling Irish English "Commonwealth English" isn't accurate since the Republic of Ireland isn't part of the Commonwealth of Nations.
Patiently awaiting the release of Paper Luigi and the Marvelous Compass.I added American and Commonwealth Spellings to Sandbox.Outdated Pages since the discussion seems to have stalled. Should Blue Link and Red Link be removed from the sandbox, since Wiki Tropes now has a TRS thread, and Blue Link has already come up?
Patiently awaiting the release of Paper Luigi and the Marvelous Compass.I think they can be removed from the sandbox after a decision has been made on them on the Wiki Tropes thread.
Macron's notesIs this necessary on TV Tropes Glossary? I don't think it's even possible to do in TLP any more:
- Blank Launch (mislaunch): An unskilled attempt to launch a trope from the Trope Launch Pad. Results in a red link instead of a trope and removes the draft from the list. Learn the basics before you try to launch.
Technically it still happens, but only if an edit-banned user attempts a trope launch.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessSome more input in the Wiki Tropes thread would probably be desirable, though.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanI agree.
For anyone here who hasn't visited the thread, here's a link to the thread, and here's a link to the sandbox where voting is taking place.
Patiently awaiting the release of Paper Luigi and the Marvelous Compass.Could change it to:
- Blank Launch (mislaunch): Under older versions of Trope Launch Pad, an unskilled attempt to launch a trope could result in a red link instead of a trope and remove the draft from the list. Nowadays, the only way to cause a blank launch is to try launching a trope while edit-banned. Still, always learn the basics before you try to launch.
