Opening this because the trope is bad and we should definitely consider killing it or figuring out what it's actually talking about.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"I would say split off the different character types into their own tropes. However, some of these are already covered by other tropes. Here's my taxonomy:
- Posh/Exclusive Restaurant: Covered by French Cuisine Is Haughty and French Jerk
- Diner/Family Restaurant/Malt Shope, Greasy Spoon, Barmaid, and Lunch Lady: These collectively seem to be covering two different, potentially tropable character archetypes: The Waitress who serves as a wholesome, Girl Next Door love interest, and Cranky Foodservice Lady, a surly, older, Apron Matron type.
- Coffee Shop: Seems largely covered by Soul Crushing Retail Job and and Overcomplicated Menu Order, not sure if other aspects are distinct enough to lump together.
- Bartender: Already covered by The Bartender.
- Pub Landlord/Landlady: Also covered by The Bartender.
- Breastaurant Waitress: Arguably a more Fanservice oriented version of The Waitress
- Outdoor Vender: Not sure if these are common enough or have enough consistent characterization to get their own character trope.
- Burger Fool: Self explanatory.
- Suck E. Cheese's: Self explanatory.
My proposal would be to cut the wall of text and make this an index for these various tropes, along with Soul Crushing Retail Job and Goofy Suit (or whatever trope makes it out of that TRS effort).

Index.
Patiently awaiting the release of Paper Luigi and the Marvelous Compass.I also support the index idea.
Make this an index
Do you think "waitress as wholesome, Girl Next Door Love Interest" and "Cranky, intimidating lunch laidy/diner server" are tropeworthy concepts? Should I TLP these?
"It's just a show; I should really just relax"Clock is set.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanI made a draft for the first one.
The description should be trimmed. Suggestion:
The portrayal of the service sector is highly gendered, and is rather unforgiving towards women. Waiters are often shown as if their job is something that they chose to do, while waitresses, they're usually in a dead-end job, lacking the skills to do anything more "prestigious." Similarly, jobs associated with alcohol tend to have more power and prestige associated with them.

^ Can you sandbox your suggestion? What's to come between your first and second paragraph?
Resetting clock. Seems like we have consensus for turning this into an index; is the proposed lead section OK?

The description of Service Sector Stereotypes is rambling and way too long for a trope page. Let's discuss what can be done about it.
First, we should establish what this trope wants to convey and if it's tropeworthy. The overriding idea seems to be: Service personnel act out different stereotypes according to the type of setting they are working in. Hidden inside the Wall of Text that is the bulleted list are character types like:
Most of the examples on the page are of the type "character X is serving in setting Y and acts such and such." which may or may not respond to the character types alluded to in the description.
Where to go from here?
