In an age long ago, a fantastic yet- *Schee!* Blood gushing out of an invisible body, a tall dark and rather handsome man wearing a red & black outfit stands with a black katana. Smirking at the invisible corpse unleashing a river of blood, he flicks his blade before looking at you. "So, spectating Brittle-kin, wanna tell me why you're here? For fun, entertainment, right? Well, I don't take kindly to my inferiors watching me like I'm some fu-" Suddenly a blonde haired woman appears out of nowhere, punching the man in the face and comically launching him into the air. This woman, wearing a white dress along with rimmed glasses and bows tying her ponytail, she bows politely before you. Bringing herself up slowly, she casually outstretches her left hand towards the speeding form of the red man: Who ends up violently slamming into an invisible barrier, landing on his back yet still in one piece.

"I'm terribly sorry about Sanguine Regis, he just doesn't have manners when off his 'meds'." Giving a glance at Regis to see his blushing face and struggles to say something, the mysterious woman continues "We are Trope Magicians, from The Lords of Evulz faction. We do as we please, though I find myself feeling rather charitable today. Hm hm hm... Vic Tori, there are guests watching us!" With her call spoken, a portal suddenly opens to her right. Stepping out of it is a six foot tall redhaired male, wearing a suit of steampunk armor curiously missing a helmet and with goggles strapped over his eyes. Turning to look at the still bleeding out narrator, Vic Tori sighs before giving you a look.

"Welp, guess you guys want to know what's going on huh? I'm with the Order of Heaven's Knights, a heroic group of Trope Magicians that dedicate our lives towards protecting others. The Lords of Evulz are barely a nuisance for us..." Stopping to see the blonde woman pout at him and then turning his attention to the flailing Regis sprouting angry gibberish, Vic Tori sighs.

"There's also other groups of Trope Magicians, such as the Dragons of Treason known for attempting to subvert powerful entities and the Harbingers of Life Anew who are known for creating & resurrecting life to fill universes. There's a group for just about anything though, and several that encompasses the same. However, what you really want to know is what a Trope Magician is right?"

The moment Vic finished his sentence, he suddenly slaps himself in the face cursing to himself whilst the blonde-haired woman is suddenly wearing a school swimsuit with clip-on cat ears & tail. Vic just gives her an unnerved look before cringing at the new sternly feminine voice "Disgusting, such perversity from man and woman. Only a cultured expert like myself could stand above such trivialities and actually explain things to our guests."

Vic Tori sharply turns around to look at the floating green haired twelve year old girl, her large fluffy dre-"robe" completely covering her legs while her detached sleeves turn away from her floating book- To suddenly hurl a hammer pulled from her flat hair at his face. The hammer bouncing off him harmlessly, the girl continues to speak with her oddly mature voice "Trope Magicians are humans who have been granted a special magic allowing us to use any trope to power a spell. Nobody is entirely sure why this magic exists, as every attempt to research it gives us conflicting yet oddly sincere answers."

The blonde haired woman now dressed in an elegant pink gown with opera gloves and a glittering bone tiara, she claps her hands together before speaking sweetly "What we do know however is that our predecessors agreed to a union, to moderate each other and make sure nothing truly major happens. Thus all Trope Magicians have a home at the Inn Betwixt, a place inbetween everything that is. Little miss loli, would you like to continue?"

The little girl sneers and pulls her head away in disdain, before speaking herself. "However, as part of the union of our predecessors, they decreed several tropes to be forbidden ones. Those that use these forbidden tropes without repent end up banished, and known as a Monster of Totality. Thus, to teach responsible use of Trope Magic we start newcomers off with practice magic. If there's someone you wish to become a Trope Magician, then send us one of these following sheets filled out."

With a snap of her fingers, a large chunk of words suddenly appear.

Application Format

  • Name:

  • Appearance:

  • Personality:

  • Practice Tropes: (Any five)

  • Backstory: (If it honestly matters to you, we could always just create this person whole-cloth)

"Now then, I'll need to make these uncultured fools leave before someone in this fantasy world notices the inexplicable ocean of blood. So, goodbye you observers."

Regarding the practice trope thing, that's solely so you guys can learn the full mechanics to avoid "How Do I Shot Web". You'll get access to full Trope Magician powers pretty quickly.

I'll be willing to answer any questions people have, and given the nature of this roleplay I'll allow anything. Just be careful with darker tropes is all I ask.

So how would tropes like Ax-Crazy work

The basic idea behind Trope Magic is a lot like "modifying" reality. Thus there are three main ways of expressing that magic: Summoning, (im)material attacks, and altering a thing's nature. Thus one could use Axe-Crazy to make someone as such, perform an attack that causes them to temporarily become axe crazy, or summon a pure embodiment of axe crazy.

Practically the same with Real Robot & Mini-Mecha: You can either summon one, rain down robots, or transform something/one into one. That's just the general idea however, and naturally you can get more complex results by using Tropes in conjunction. For example, combining Our Souls Are Different with Mini-Mecha could allow you to mutate someone's soul into being such. That or summon a spectral mecha.

So I can basically choose any 5 tropes I want my character to be able to use to "modify reality"?

Yes, though you guys will get full Trope Magician powers pretty fast so don't worry too much about what your five practice tropes are.

What's the difference between Practice Tropes

The power of Practice Tropes is somewhat more limited so new Trope Magicians don't get overwhelmed with sheer power. Though the lesser power level is more due to the lack of tropes they can use than anything else. Practice Tropes can also be turned off if a would-be Trope Magician proves themselves too irresponsible or dangerous.

Name: Yang Faux

Appearance: He has short blonde hair and wears glasses. He is 5,6 and always wears a red shirt with YOLO on it.

Personality: He is a laid-back,lazy teenager with poor common sense. He is rude and prone to cursing but is friendly. He rarely takes any thing seriously and cracks jokes in the face of danger, brave no stupid yes.

Practice Tropes:

Ax-Crazy he mainly uses it to turn harmless objects into crazy warriors.

The Quiet One he uses this to take away people's ability to speak

Hair-Trigger Temper he use it in conjunction with Ax-Crazy making his soldiers super pissed

The Load makes others completely worthless in combat used in conjunction with The Quiet One

And Laughing Mad which he uses to make his opponents laughing which distracts them from combat

  • Name: Ana (no last name)
  • Appearance: A girl with neck length black hair and dark brown eyes. And glasses. She stands at about 5'5 1/2. She slouches a lot, though. Her build is average, though with very slight muscles. You can usually find her wearing some kind of hoodie, even in the summer. Oh yeah, and she has rabbit ears for some reason.
  • Personality: Somewhat of a Deadpan Snarker. She seems to be rather intelligent, but no one really realizes since she's also quite lazy and easily distracted. Sometimes she'll do stuff for seemingly no reason. If you approach her and befriend her, however, you'll find she's very loyal and good at keeping secrets.
  • Practice Tropes:
    • Author Avatar: This allows her to make an 'avatar' she can control. This avatar can look however she wants, but she can only make one at a time. The avatar's trope powers are also weaker- although the avatar is physically stronger. Additionally, when using the avatar, the user's consciousness is transferred over to it. Finding the real body and destroying it will kill both. Ana is actually one of these; the real Ana looks different. And she has a last name. She's hidden pretty well, though- don't expect to be able to find her unless she reveals herself.
    • Frying Pan of Doom: Ana can call a frying pan down from the sky to hit someone on the head, no matter where she is. It won't kill though, for some reason.
    • Improbable Weapon User: Can turn anything into a weapon. Even people.
    • Super-Strength: Ana gets super strength. She can also give it to someone else.
    • Making a Splash: Allows Ana to control water.
  • Sidenote: Real Ana has all the same powers, but stronger. She's less physically strong, though.

What are the rules for crazy powerful tropes like Reality Warper and Physical God?

Given the fact Trope Magicians are already practically reality warpers, those would be purely redundant tropes to use on themselves. Thus those would be used more likely as part of a super empowering.

Name: Chana ben Cohen.

Appearance: [1], the one on the far right.

Personality: No-nonsense, prickly, short-tempered, and generally a Jerkass. Does have a softer side, but it generally only appears in the presence of children and cats. She will threaten anyone who sees it with lethal force. She's dead serious about it, too. Also an observant Jew.

Practice Tropes:

  • Global Warming: Can be used to increase heat in an area, drastically so if the focus area is small enough.

  • Geas: Can force someone to follow a simple command, like "Do this" or "Don't do that" or "Go to sleep", and so forth.

  • Reality Ensues: Can be used to negate the effect of one Trope currently in effect.

  • Badass Israeli: Can be used to give herself increased attacking power and agility, given that she is an Israeli. Can also be used on others, as long as they're from Israel.

  • Implacable Man: Can be used on herself or others to give them the ability to shrug off most any injury. It also allows her to designate a target enemy, and the ally she targets with this power can warp to the second target's location at will.

Progressing work in progressing progress

  • Name: Alexander Ruthal
  • Appearence: He is a tall, slim man with short, black hair. He wears glasses, even though he prefers to use contact lenses. He also usually walks around with headphones, altough that does not mean he is an unfriendly man. As far as clothes go, he usually wears a T-shirt and jeans, with maybe a hoodie if it's cold.
  • Personality As mentioned above, he isn't unfriendly: quite the contrary, actually. He likes to be with people, and likes to snark at everything.
Even though he's usually calm, if he gets into a rages, he does. In combat, he has not a definite strategy, preferring to improvise as he fights.
  • Practice Tropes:
    • Trope Aversion: Can be used to negate the effects of any trope used (and not only by him).
    • Idiot Ball: Uses it as a throwing weapon, which stuns the target. If the target makes contact with it for too long, the effect will exponentially increase.
    • Mind Screw: Can be used in combination with the above to have some amazing effects. Like the "feeling strange" thing in Earth Bound. Only more powerful.
    • I Know Mortal Kombat: Can basically learn any form of fighting by watching people using it. And can apply said knowledge to similar-looking weapons.
    • Improbable Weapon User: As in, everything is a potential weapon.

  • Name: Jack October

  • Apperance: Nearly as far from action hero as you can get. Jack is a tall, scrawny man with little muscle and looks like he should be reading a math textbook instead of going on adventures with a group of badasses. He has brown hair and a very pale complexion.

  • Personality: When in an emergency, Jack is quick to take charge, but is happy to stand down if a better leader presents himself. Off the clock, Jack is friendly, if a little snarky and blunt.

  • Practice Tropes:

No real issue besides potentially your character being an avatar herself. However, I do need to state: Red link tropes aren't acceptable, and a Practice Trope only governs itself (thus More Dakka would not include telekinesis or weapon creation).
