Since we have a thread for improving the descriptions for tropes, I thought I would make one for improving descriptions for works. This is also a good place for requesting creator page cleaning.
Here are some common problems with many work descriptions:
- Over-analytical Walls of Text: Many works that have a high Troper Critical Mass have egregiously long descriptions, and could use some trimming, possibly moving some of it to the Analysis page.
- Critical reception/audience reaction cruft: "Edit Tip #12: We are not interested in whether or not something is or was popular. Whether or not it was liked has nothing to do with tropes." In other words, work descriptions should not contain paragraphs nor any mention at all about how the work was received. Zap it.
- Editorialism: A similar issue to the above, some tropers have a tendency to try to sneak stealth reviews into works' descriptions. This is obvious deletion fodder - Kill It with Fire.
- Plagiarism: Copy-pasted text from another source, such as Wikipedia.
So just post any work or creator page descriptions that are in need of cleanup and we'll see what we can do.

Reckless has no real description to speak of. (I just fixed the namespace and added an identifying sentence; there are half a dozen works with this name.)
Several pages that have issues, as per their discussion pages:
- Outland is a full plot synopsis where a brief description should be.
- A Dark Sky lacks a description.
- Tintin: The description is nothing but gushing and technical information and doesn't tell much about the actual plot of the film.
- Gunhed: No examples.

"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanHey guys!
I'm new here, but I decided to try and make a page for a set of book that are currently being posted on Fiction Press, but I've appeared to have bitten off more than I can chew with this particular effort!
The series is good and I think it deserves a chance. I will leave a link below, plus the site of the author himself, if you're interested.

Psychic Academy is lifted straight out of Wikipedia.
"If you aren't him, then you apparently got your brain from the same discount retailer, so..." - FighteerTabletopGame. The Witcher appears to have plenty of valid infomation (based on a comparisson to what's on Wikipedia and some google searches), but it's full of grammatical errors and there are at least a few shoehorned tropes.
TV Tropes's No. 1 bread themed lesbian. she/her, fae/faer
This post was thumped by the Eldritch Flyswatter of Horror
That page is an absolute mess.
"If you aren't him, then you apparently got your brain from the same discount retailer, so..." - FighteerCleaning up What Do You Mean, It's Not Awesome?, I came across Sailor Moon CS. Don't follow it (my Magical Girl interest is limited) so I don't really know what it's like, but right now the description is just a stub. A little more description would probably help.
(Decent trope list, but it needs some fixing that's beyond the scope of this thread.)

All your safe space are belong to TrumpSoldier of Fortune, which I just namespace-shifted, has a description that seems rather incoherent.
The description of Venus Wars is plagiarized from Wikipedia.
I can only assume that The Chess Game of the Gods's description is comprehensible and describes the plot if someone's already read the story. Can someone rewrite in a less informal style, sans first person and rhetorical questions?
That was the amazing part. Things just keep going. My gods, it doesn't even mention which work it's a fanfic of. (Because everyone in the entire world watches My Little Pony Friendship Is Magic, right?)
Haven't read the story, though, so I can't help out.
Treasure of Swamp Castle needs a less gushy description.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanShameless Self-Promoter's describe nothing, and someone went overboard with Self-Demonstrating Article.

There is another topic for trope descriptions.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanNo, it isn't this thread. And that was a weird question.

"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanSweet Bro and Hella Jeff is unreadable. Permission to rewrite completely?
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanWebcomic based on Stylistic Suck or not, Self-Demonstrating descriptions should be used sparingly, and not at the expense of understanding like is the case with that one.

All your safe space are belong to TrumpThe Adventures Of Edward The Less needs a description.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanThe Powder Toy should probably have a better description.
Midori No Hibi's description is too long and maybe a bit gushy. Needs attention from someone familiar with it.
A blog that gets updated on a geological timescale.I'm not familiar with the work in question, but I didn't really need to be. All it really needed was a couple of paragraphs trimmed from the description.
Do we care about blatantly stolen descriptions? Because the description of Trapped on Draconica was lifted from here. (Found while idly googling for more info.)
Speaking words of fandom: let it squee, let it squee.
The description of My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic is really gushy. (And also really locked due to it being a troll target, but we have a thread for that.)
"Oh great! Let's pile up all the useless cats and hope a tree falls on them!"
